My only concern was with the final outcome of the layout: it came our slightly different than I had envisioned. I felt the inability of the supplier to provide an exact diagram of the final layout was a deficiency on their part. Overall, I am satisfied with the job and supplier. I would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: The provider installed a double vanity, countertops, sinks, and faucets. All work was done on time and in a professional manor.

We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with your new vanity. We provide and require clients to approve and sign off on design schematics and specifications for every project we complete. This job was no exception as several cabinet views were initialed by the client. I'm not sure where the misunderstanding occurred. We appreciate your business and are here to help on any future projects!

Better than expected - we were in the market for replacing the countertops and knew that we could expect possibly 4-6 weeks to get everything done. Turns out end of the year is a great time since it seems to be a lull in the market. We chose our tops, scheduled a date to template and had everything installed in around a little over 2 weeks. We have an existing tile backsplash that was installed after the existing tops, so they were able to put a backsplash up to the tile. We needed to grout caulk after the install, but amazed at how precise the install was. The install was done in a day and looks great. Very professional, extremely helpful and answered all of our questions.
Description of Work: Removed existing Formica countertops and installed granite tops, along with replacing the sink and faucet and performed all the hookups for dishwasher and disposal.

Sales and fabrication were top notch. Tyler and the staff at the Montgomery store were attentive and flexible, offering me both their stock materials as well as inviting me to look at slabs at other suppliers. I ended up using their stock material, and the staff at their Mason warehouse were friendly and helpful when we went to select our slab. The worker who came out to measure was fast, competent and amiable. The countertop fit beautifully, and installation went well with one exception: the workers were to physically install the dishwasher in the cabinets, but only drilled two screws through the rubber "fill strips" on the side of the appliance which hug the sides of the cabinet and obscure any gap between the washer and the cabinet. Naturally, the first time I opened the dishwasher the rubber tore and the unit tipped over forward onto the floor! It took me about an hour to wrangle it out of there and install it myself. I'm sure I could have called the company, but it just seemed faster to do it myself. The top does look great. One other disappointment - I chose their standard undermount 50/50 double sink, which looked fine in the showroom, but is actually substantially smaller than the standard drop-in sinks I'm used to. Pots that used to sit flat on the sink bottom now stick out at an angle, severely reducing the workspace and amount of dishes you can put in the sink. Had i realized this, I would NEVER have chosen that sink. Price was OK, seemed about average. Despite the dishwasher and sink issues, I'd consider using them again. I'd just ask more questions and double check measurements.

They did an excellent job and I was very happy with what they did for me. I went to the store to pick everything out based on their selection and went over their difference prices for service. After I picked that out, it was delivered to their local store and they made sure I was okay with my selection. They were here doing the installation within the week and they were finished in one day. They were very careful to not damage anything in my house and they covered the floors. Their price was one of the least expensive with the best rating.

From the time we walked into the door of the CAC store in Montgomery until the time the cabinets were installed we encountered nothing but professionalism and excellent communication. We stopped in the store between Christmas and New Years and the install was completed on January 15. Appointments we scheduled and kept, on time, for everything. The granite viewing at their warehouse was quick and easy and the gentleman at the warehouse was very helpful and flexible when we weren't sure we liked the first slab we looked at. The template person showed up right on time and measured everything and took pictures. Then the installers pulled in our driveway at 9AM on the day of install as promised. We were extremely happy with the entire process from start to finish in spite of one installation issue. Our dishwasher was a little bit bigger than the typical dishwasher and the composite sink wouldn't fit in the opening of the granite as it was cut and still be centered. There was a lot of discussion between the installer and the owner of the company about what the solution would be, but in the end they cut a new piece of granite for the sink run. This was the harder, longer, and more expensive solution for CAC but the the owner didn't want to cut any corners, he wanted us to be 100% happy with the end solution. The installers had to take the countertops back to the shop and were gone for about 4 hours but they came back later that afternoon and completed the install that day as promised. CAC sent an extra person over to help since it was getting late. All three of these guys were at our house until almost 10:00PM. Given the complication, I never thought they would be able to finish the job the same day but they did. For the several hours they were gone to re-cut the granite I received a phone call about once an hour with an update on the progress and an estimate of when they would be back. They were very apologetic about being at the house so late, but I was happy to get it finished so they didn't have to come back. The final install is beautiful and we couldn't be happier. If you're thinking about new countertops I would highly recommend CAC By Design!

This company has installers as employees and that is one of the main reasons that we went with them in 2011 for our master bath remodel and again in 2013 for our remaining bathrooms as opposed to a company that subcontracts out all installation. We met with Krista, designer, who had also worked with us in 2011. Rob, the supervisor, who also worked with us in 2011 came to our home several times during the remodel and was very professional and thorough in working with us as well as in assisting the installers. The installers, Andy Dick and Adam Gardner were both prompt and very professional throughout the remodel. Andy worked dilligently with us on hitting the completion deadline as we had a painter lined up and the job was right before Christmas. Both Andy and Adam obviously took pride in their work and were very respectful of our home.

We are very pleased with our finished kitchen. Krista ,product manager was very responsive to concerns and was readily available. The floor was a major concern and took more time than budgeted. The workers employed on this project were very competent and polite. We had no concerns in leaving the property while they were here. This was our first remodel experience in this state after coming here from Ca. I have no reservation in recommending this company.

In terms of the products and the initial plans and everything we had a general contractor do that. They were excellent. They were very prompt, no hesitation to call them with questions or like changing an order that we had already placed. Our biggest issue was what our island ended being placed where it was because of the measurements didn't permit a good flow through traffic and they were awesome in terms of coming up with a lot of planning to redo that to make that work. Just fabulous.

I decided to go with them because we had two projects going on at the same time and they offered the convenience of removing the cabinets versus other companies who only supplied the product and installation. The price was competitive and I was happy with the service. Once the sale was made, I felt like any questions I had were answered with quick responses that weren't always right. Installation day came and went and as far as I could tell, everything was fine. After a couple of days I started noticing things like there was a huge gap under my countertop bar and the granite that should have been flush against the drywall wasn't flush. I also noticed one of my cabinets was crooked. I called and voiced my complaint and a manager came out quickly and agreed with me so they replaced the granite under my countertop bar and reinstalled the granite so it was flush against the wall. I didn't want any more problems with the crooked cabinet so I decided to live with it. Looking back on the installation, one of the guys seemed to be in a hurry to get it done which is probably why the quality of their workmanship was rather poor. I liked the granite I picked out and overall I like my kitchen now but to spend that much money, I expect good quality the first time. I wouldn't recommend them and I wouldn't use them again for other projects we're doing around the house.

Countertops and Cabinetry By Design in Mason, Ohio. It was about three months ago because the whole process took a long time to get a vanity made. It cost $392. That was just cultural marble, normally that's not an expensive product but it was 31 x 22 so that's not very large. I didn't mind paying it because they had a color that I needed that they were going to make. When you go through all those questions, I didn't know how to do it, the lady that waited on me who was the order up, the lady who answers the phones who I spoke to they were all absolutely incredible, they were very good. The problem came when I picked the product up and it wasn't the color I ordered and I had a sample chip of what I ordered. And I know there are variations, and that was the first thing I told them, I know there are variations, I wasn't expecting exactly, each batch is a little different, but it went went from a terra cotta color which I ordered to a mauve which is totally out of that color scheme. I even had the installer lay in on top just to see if we could work with it and it didn't go with anything. So I wasn't taking this process lightly. So I went back and I told the guy and I ended up speaking with the owner's son, he was a young guy and he was so rude. I just couldn't image how rude he was, first of all I was twice his age and second of all I was a customer. And I was just trying to tell him how it just didn't go and his thing what did we do wrong, we didn't do anything wrong. I just, he was just so smart alec. He took the order form and just threw it down on the table, well just bring it back. But this process too at least 20 minutes that I felt like he was broad beat, like he was just after you, after you, after you. And he said just bring it in I'll give you your money back. And I thanked him and I had it out in the car. And he said I'll help you it's a little heavy. He said what are we going to do with it I'm just going to throw it away as soon as I get it I'm just going to chop it up. Which disturbed me because it was a nice vanity top if you like mauve. And they've got all the re-stores for habitat for humanity and his company actually they talk about it on the radio how they give these products and everything. I was so disturbed by the whole process of I didn't understand why he would be so mean about returning my money. I just did not get that at all. You just don't do that to people. Especially if it's a customer, you just don't do that. He was the problem. I even thought about calling his Dad because he's the owner. This is the thing that really got me then, I went down the road about 7 or 8 miles to Life Style Kitchen and Bath, I ordered a product that was made of the same culture marble in the color I needed, it came out exactly and it was only $182 same exact everything. And that really upset me, it just felt like they were cheating people. The price was almost double. That was a pretty sad experience to think that they talk about them all the time on the radio and it's just one guy in the company that can make you feel so ugly.

Thank you for your feedback. Firstly, I would like to note that these comments are not those of the customer in question, but actually those of a representative of Angie’s List as noted to the left. “Transcribed from a telephone interview” After speaking with the customer last week, it was communicated to us that the Angie’s List representative "stayed after her" until she agreed to speak with them, something she told us that she did not want to do. When used as intended, the Angie’s List forum provides a valuable service to both customers and business to discuss the customer experience and business performance as related to other companies. However, when the customer does not actually post the comments, the message (good or bad) is lost and therefore less valid. Prior to placing the order, it was discussed with [member name removed] that some variation is to be expected from the samples due to the natural way the countertop material is produced. This is also noted on the back of every sample. It was also discussed that the color and size she required was not a stock item and therefore took about 3 weeks to be produced and was not returnable for any reason as is normally the case with special order items. She agreed. The countertop was ordered and paid for in full by [member name removed] on the evening of Wednesday, February 20th. It was ordered with our vendor the following morning and confirmed to be delivered to our warehouse in the usual 3 week time frame. Upon receipt of the countertop, we called [member name removed]to arrange a convenient pickup date and time which was scheduled for Tuesday, March 19th. At some point that week, the customer contacted our vendor to discuss the countertop she received from us. Our vendor’s service representative communicated to her that some variation is to be expected as noted on every sample and was not returnable. The following Tuesday morning, March 26th, [member name removed] visited our West Chester showroom making an ugly scene in our crowded showroom, demanding a refund. She claimed the sample she had did not look anything like the countertop in the back of her SUV. With the sample laying on the countertop, I looked at it personally and to my surprise, saw no variation in color. [member name removed] insisted that the number and size of the speckles in the pattern were different only when laying the sample on certain areas of the countertop. She went on to say that she was not happy with any countertop she had seen anywhere and nothing matched the colors she had in the room already and this was the closest. I discussed with her again that this was a natural product and that it was most certainly correct and represented the sample. If there had been something that was incorrect in the way it was made, it would be no problem to have a replacement countertop made by our vendor. She still demanded a refund because “she didn’t like it”. I reluctantly agreed to refund her purchase as a gesture of good faith even though it had been discussed several times that the countertop was made special for her and is not returnable. I unloaded the vanity top for her and immediately refunded her credit card in full. She thanked me repeatedly and was not here in the showroom for more than 15 minutes. This was certainly an uncomfortable conversation for us both, but in no way could it be described as rude or sarcastic. It was actually left as to what I believed to be a positive conclusion. Since our vendor was unable to accept it back, the countertop has since been donated. As far as what we charge our customers, the cost she mentions would be below what we actually pay our vendor. The other company she refers to does not offer the same brand of cultured products as we do in our showrooms and therefore has no price relevance. We take customer issues very seriously as our reputation has been earned through years of treating our customers fairly. Even if we screw up along the way for whatever the reason, we make it right! We did nothing wrong and went over and above to satisfy this customer. I am glad to hear that she found something that she is happy with even though it wasn’t through our company. Regards.

This company was contacted by phone for an appointment. They reviewed their procedure for a quote: do a rough measurement of the counter areas including backsplash area and bring the information into a display store. We chose to make an appointment at the Montgomery store. Once at the store my wife and I met with a Design Consultant to review the many counter types and choices. A decision was made on granite type with appropriate edging. Next a decision was needed on sink type and faucet. Prior to this appointment we had decided to put in a stainless steel sink, but new technologies have been developed to allow us to put in a black sink that is 80% natural granite stone. This information was explained to us by one of the design consultant?s. Various faucets were shown and one on sale was chosen. Deciding on a backsplash design was a daunting challenge. There were so many title types and various designs. The design team was able to determine our aesthetics and help to point us in a specific direction. Costs, title types, and installation were explained. The tile types we wanted were not stocked so they offered to get in some samples or we could visit a local title store. We chose the latter. We did decide on a type of title and design theme. At the end of the design process, they used our rough measurements to provide us with a price for the complete project. The removal of the old counter and sink with the new counter replacements plus installs of the sink, faucet, and garbage disposal and the backsplash install with materials were all listed with costs. This was the last of three appraisals and the cost was in line with other companies. We were able to accept their bid at the end of the appointment. With the bid accepted, a granite slab selection appointment at the Mason fabrication center was made for the following week. Also, that same week we visited the tile store to confirm our choices. We decided on an install the new counter date (one day) followed by the backsplash install (three days). Because of our time line of three weeks away (our choice) we were able to schedule the install over four consecutive days. Installation went smoothly. The counter installers (one of the installers also did the plumbing) completed in one day. The tile installer came the next day and completed his work in two days. All work was completed in an excellent manner. There was no mess or materials left. Workmen were conscious of meeting all our needs. Overall this company led us from the design stage through the install stage with no problems. I would recommend Countertops and Cabinetry by Design.
Description of Work: This project was to replace the main kitchen counter and replace two counters over cabinet areas. In addition the counters were to be granite. In addition a tile backsplash was to be added over the sink and stove area. Other services were to include the addition of a new sink, faucet, and garbage disposal. The company was to manage all work.

What a great review! Thanks so much for your kind words and thorough explanation of our process. We truly appreciate your business and will be at your service should the need arise in the future. Regards.
We worked through the West Chester location. The job was performed on time and the workers were professional and on-time. Everything from initial consultation to installation went well. Amber was easy to work with and knowledgeable and all three crews that came to our home were very professional. The performed the work as though they were installing the cabinets and counters in their own home. The only concern we had was in the cabinetry. Color matching existing cabinets is difficult. We ordered the same manufacturer, wood, style, and color as the 10 year old cabinets in the house to serve as a desk area. It showed how much our existing maple has yellowed over time. Nothing C&C could have done, just wish we would have know going in that would be the case. Granite and Quartz selections are reasonable but the price was very very competitive. The stone showroom is well lit and easy to get too. They installed the exact stone we selected. At this point we are very pleased. Its nice to work with people who do their job in a professional manner.

I visited the Colerain store. I brought my measurements with me. The sales representative was very helpful, answering all of my questions. He gave me a rough estimate of the cost, so I set up an appointment for him to come to my home later that week. We finalized the measurements and my changes. The installation was done about 3 or 4 weeks later. The installers were very courteous and arrived as scheduled. The counter tops were installed in one day and the under cabinet lights and tile backsplash were complete in 2 days. The work was very well done and I am very happy with my "new" kitchen.
Description of Work: I had counter tops, under cabinet lights, and tile backsplash installed.

Our first visit to CACBD occurred in early October when we visited the Anderson showroon. We were very new to the entire process and didn't know what questions to ask. We were surprised and pleased at how easy it was for the associate to provide us with an estimate after about 15 minutes of discussing various options with us. We took a couple of samples home as well to try to determine the color we wanted to go with. We also decided to visit a granite warehouse to get a better perspective of the various colors available to us since the CACBD showroom only had a limited number of granite colors. After finding a few additional colors, we emailed our associate for updated pricing and never received a response. We decided to give CACBD another chance and visited the Colerain showroom. Once again, we were immediately greeted. We followed up with the associated with numerous emails regarding pricing and options as we began to determine our wants for the granite and tile. The associate was alwaysvery responsive and helpful via email. We narrowed our choices down to two granite colors which are similar (I would call them cousins) but distinctly different. We were given prices for both granite A and granite B. We were advised that CACBD didn't stock either A or B and that we could visit the Mont warehouse to view both colors and decide from there. After visiting Mont, we decided on color A and followed up with our associate regarding our preference. We were to return to Mont the next Saturday to view slabs and reserve the specific slab we wanted. We were surprised and excited to get an email late Friday evening (the evening before we were to travel back to Mont) that CACBD had a slab of granite A in their warehouse. Since we had made a special arrangement to have a sitter on Saturday morning, we were able to travel to the CACBD warehouse to view the slab. When we arrived, we were told that Chris was on the phone with our associate. We waited a few minutes for Chris to take us back to view the slab of granite A. Once we viewed the slab, it looked like granite B...NOT A. When we asked whether it was A or B, Chris hesitated and said..it's B but they are very similar. My wife and I were VERY frustrated by this tactic. Why would they tell us they have A when it was really B. Were they trying to pull a quick one? I'm sure since they already had B in their warehouse, their margin was better than if they had to get A from Mont. We left and went to Mont to view slabs of A and finalized the slab we wanted. Based upon our experience with CACBD of trying to pass off one color of granite for another, we decided we couldn't trust CACBD and found a small fabricator in Batesville, IN (The Stone Studio). Let me say that The Stone Studio is fantastic! They take great pride in their workmanship, quality and customer service. There is no comparison. They are a little bit higher in price but the quality is so much better. We were quite disappointed to be treated the way we were with CACBD. Their price was great, by far the cheapest (about 20% less than everyone else) but their tactics are questionable and the quality is sub-par.
Description of Work: We were looking to upgrade our countertops to quartz or granite and have a new tile backsplash installed in our kitchen.

Hello [member name removed], I would like to thank you for taking the time to post these comments about your experience with us. I would also like to thank you for compliments regarding our sales and design team and I am very pleased to hear that your experience was equally satisfying having visited 2 of our 4 showrooms. I apologize for the misunderstanding at our shop when you met with Chris, our owner. The fact is, that granite slabs from the same origin mine are sold by importers and distributors with different names. For example, the common color “Uba Tuba” is actually called “Labrador Green”, “Verde Bahia” and “Windsor” just to name a few. The reason for this, at the distributor level, is that granite is such a commodity and so competitively priced, that the distributors call granites by different names in an effort to offer a “different” granite color than other distributors. The distributor’s ultimate goal is to raise the price of standard granite colors. As a fabricator, this is extremely confusing for both us and our customers. I absolutely assure you that no “tactic” was being used by Chris when he explained that the two granites in question are considered in the industry to be the same thing. Variation, as you know, is why our customers view their specific slab before fabrication because each slab is unique. There is no difference in margin as much of our granite is sourced from Mont as you mentioned. CAC By Design installed more than 1,600 countertops last year and over 75% of our business comes from referrals and repeat business. Our quality, service and integrity have never been in question. I would be happy to discuss this and any other future projects with you should the opportunity arise. Regards.

Excellent experience. After shopping around with other granite suppliers listed on Angie's List who either weren't in their shops when they had posted hours or did not answer their phone, respond to email, or respond to faxes, I landed here. Having been astounded by the lack of customer service of the other providers I was pleasantly surprised. I went to the showroom in Montgomery and worked with Meghan. It was an excellent experience. She knew exactly what she was talking about and spent a lot of time with me explaining my options. I was given a price on the spot and took home a couple of samples so I could see what would work best in my kitchen. The following Saturday we drove up to Mason to select our slab. Again, excellent customer service at the warehouse. A few weeks later the team arrived to install the granite. They were professional, on time, courteous and did a great job with the installation. Throughout the process the communication lines were open and I got timely responses to calls and emails. We love our countertops and would recommend this company.
