Description of Work: The service technician was prompt and professional. He informed me of all the parts, numbers and costs and confirmed for me that it was a good decision to replace the dishwasher rather than repair as cost would be two thirds of the cost of a new machine. He left an itemized report of the repair costs, good for 30 days if I should decide to make the repairs instead. I would definitely use this company again.

Description of Work: They were great! Kitchenaid gave me their number so I knew it was Fred's calling and not some robocall. Fred's sent me a picture of the technician and they showed up on time to install a new control panel which was covered under the warranty for $291. The dishwasher was only 2 years old. Not happy with Kitchenaid.

Description of Work: My refrigerator was not cooling or freezing. I was able to get an appointment the next day. Unfortunately, the compressor needed to be replaced and the repairman recommended not to fix it but left it to me. He left me a quote to repair the fridge. I did decide to replace it. I received a phone call about 5 days later following up with my decision. I was very pleased with Fred's Appliance and will use them in the future and recommend their services.

With our icemaker not working I called Fred's appliance because they are the ones that take care of warranty services for Whirlpool. Art came and as soon as he opened the freezer door he knew why it was not working. He could not get the ice maker to work and ordered a new one and he will be back in 2 days to install it. Art was very, very nice and patient and answered all the questions we asked him. He even fixed the door handles that were not completely even. He also stayed for a while just to make sure that the ice maker wasn't working. We will definitely call Fred's Appliance for other appliance service.

The repairman pull the part out and suggested replacing the part. He ordered the part from Viking and placed it in the dishwasher. Everything works good now. Repairman was efficient, polite, honest, and came back in a timely manner. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Our Viking dishwasher broke again so we called Viking and they recommended Fred's. Fred's came out and found the problem: a part had caught fire.

I called Fred's appliance because my mother had a good experience with them in the past. I put an unusually large load into my dryer which caused the belt to break. I am a physician and have three young children at home so did not have time to fix it myself. I arranged to have my brother sit at the house for the entire morning waiting for the service man to arrive, he came at the tail end of his window and fixed the belt. In total he was at the house for about 15 minutes. He then charged me $200 (never mind that a belt costs $15.) The next night I went to dry a load of laundry and the dryer started to make a screeching noise and then continued to make a very loud humming noise for the rest of the cycle. I turned it off and again called Fred's appliance the next day. They again sent the same repair man who "readjusted things." I scheduled him to come on a day that I was post an overnight so I could be there. In total I called fred's appliance three times for this noise. They finally sent another technician who said he didn't know what was wrong but again readjusted the belt. It was quiet for a day and then the noise started again. At this point I gave up. We moved out of the house about a week later so I did not use the dryer for 3 months. When we finally got an offer on the house the buyers inspector again noted the noisy dryer and the buyer requested that we fix the "excessive noise." I again called Fred's to tell them that the dryer still had the same problem. They told me that since the intial service was several months ago I would have to pay a $79 service fee (which with tax ends up being much higher than that) and then an additional fee if they find something wrong. I explained that I was calling three months later because I had not used the dryer and because the problem intial problem was never fixed. They didn't care. I asked to speak to a manager and they said they would forward my concerns to the company owner, but would not let me talk to anyone else. The office manager (Laura) called me back on Monday. I was on rounds at the hospital so could not answer the phone. She left a message that they would not waive the service fee. She did not leave me her direct line so I could not call back. My husband and I ended up replacing the dryer in order to sell the house. Collectively with my mother I manage six different properties so I have dealt with numerous service companies in the past. This was one of my most infuriating encounters.

After I tried to determine what was wrong with my dryer, I decieded to go to the professionals. I called Fred's and got an appointment that day. The technician came at the promised time and tore apart the dryer. He had the part in his truck and was able to fix it right then and there. He then explained to me the reasons why my dryer malfuctioned and told me how to prevent it in the future. He cleaned the machine and around it and put everything back the way I had it. He wore booties over his shoes, even though I told him he didn't have to. He was thoroughly professional and very pleasant. I will definately call Fred's again if I need service on any of my appliances.

My 6 month old Whirlpool dishwasher started making a weird grinding noise a couple days before Christmas. Called Whirlpool support and they set me up with Fred's Appliance. They were able to come out the day after Christmas. The repairman showed up on time, put the covers for his shoes on without me having to tell/ask him and went to work. He asked a few questions, played with the buttons, heard the noise and then started taking the cover off the bottom. A couple minutes later, he pulled a little plastic piece that had fallen off the top rack and evidently got to the pump when the filter was pulled out to be cleaned. He was very polite and professional. He left a few sample dishwasher tabs, some business cards and a magnet. No charge because it was warranty work.
Description of Work: Whirlpool support referred me to them for warranty work when my 6 month old dishwasher started making a grinding noise.

Description of Work: Robert G. was the first technicion to come into our house to see what was wrong with my washer. Within a half an hour the problem was discovered and the part was ordered., being a belt that let loose in my washer making a tremendous noise. The secretary who took the original call was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. Chad was very professional and extremely courteous. He worked on my washer and checked to make it worked properly before leaving. I highly recommend this company and each of the technicions I dealt with. Thank goodness Whirlpool Company deals with Fred's Appliance and is a member of your list.

The repairman analysed the problem,showed me the problem, repaired the problem. In one hour the dryer was off and running and he cleaned up the inside of the dryer and gave me safety information on dryer venting.
Description of Work: Our 15 year old dryer wouldn't heat up. The gas solenoids needed to be replaced.

Their response time was excellent. They were out within 2 days and the repairman, Luke, was super! He had the parts needed and after giving me an estimate, the dryer was repaired within 1 hour. My only complaint was with the cost. $82 for the part and $90 for the labor isn't the issue. I think $70.00 just to walk through the door is excessive since none of the fee was waived after I agreed to the repair.
Description of Work: My dryer stopped heating. So I called the nearest provider listed on Angie's list.

Fred's appliance made the service call. The first call went fine althought the service technician did not impress me with his ability to trouble shoot a simple problem. A part was ordered to resolve an issue. The follow up visit was scheduled and I was available. Unfortunately the service technician did not. I found out after the fact that was due to their inability to reach me by phone. I was at home but missed the call, but I had no reason to expect that they would not honor an appointment. I always honor appointments and took time away from work to ensure I was at home. Their attitude was "so what". A very unprofessional attitude. When I raised the issue there was again very little customer sensitivity. I had not idea that Jennair was subcontracting this service and will ask for a different service company next time.
Description of Work: I had called Jennair for a warranty issue on a refrigerator.

We called to find out about using Fred's Appliance Service to work on our Frigidaire front loading washing machine because they are listed as an authorized Frigidaire repair service. They told us that their service call fee is $79.00 just to come out plus parts and labor. We contacted Decker Appliance which had much more favorable terms even though they are not an authorized Frigidaire service company. They knew exactly what had to be done to repair our washing machine and the total bill from Decker was just a little over $100.00 or the service call and 1 hour and 15 minutes of labor.

He didn't really have to do work. He just looked at it, and he knew what the problem was. He charged a fee for coming out. I didn't have any complaints. The worker was very professional.

They were able to schedule quickly and gave me a two hour window for their arrival time. The tech was able to diagnose the problem quickly and give me some ideas for fixing it. They were very honest and I appreciated it.

They have done excellent service. They are very professional and they are completely computerized. The guys do everything on their laptops, which is great. When you call the service line they schedule a date and time. Then they call the night before and the morning of the appointment.
Description of Work: We used Fred's Appliance because I have a double oven and it is touch pad versus knobs. It is about 13 years old and I thought a fuse went out. They came out and did a diagnostic and confirmed that it was a fuse. They ordered the part and came back and installed it within a week.

Very professional, very responsive, very courteous. When the service man was here to fix the oven door my wife mentioned that the ice maker in the refrigerator wasn't working. He fixed it and didn't charge extra! The company is in Madison but they cover the entire area. Will definitely use again.

Came and removed the stove top. It took approx. 3 months for the part to arrive. Never given a satisfactory answer for the delay and told inconsistent responses. During installation damage was done to a burner, which needed to replaced. A return visit was required to fix it. After the repair the burner configuration (different BTU) was completely rearranged. In addition the knobs never moved as freely as they did originally, making it harder to adjust the temperature. We told Fred's about this and they came out. The service tech said everything was OK. But I was not confident that he totally understood our concerns as I never received an explanation why the burner order was changed and why the knobs do not turn as well. I told them that I realize it works now but was afraid of it's longevity. 8 months later, one knob will not move and burner will not light. Another burner is tilted. Fred's was called but will not come out unless we pay for full service call. No warranty.
Description of Work: Glass Kitchen Aid gas stove top shattered and needed to be replaced.

It was the worst experience I've ever had with any home repair. I discovered the problem in January and it took Fred's until Thanksgiving to fix the issue. They ordered the wrong part numerous times, they fixed one part of the oven and then decided that they need to fix another. I am convinced I spent more on the repairs than I needed to, not to mention the fact that my oven didn't work for most of the year! They made many mistakes, said sorry, but didn't offer a discount on the service. My experience with Fred's is why I joined Angie's List so that I'll never make that mistake again. AND after all of that, my oven temperature is still off.

Overall the customer service was terrible. When GE made the appointment they told me I had to available for a 9 hour block of time and if I wanted smaller window I had to contact the provider directly, which I did. I asked if it was possible to have the appointment between 9:30 and 5 and was told that was fine and I would be called the day before with a three hour window when they would show up. The day before a technician called and wanted to know what the problem was with the ice maker and then I also had a call from someone else there saying my appointment was at 8am and that they saw that I requested after 9:30 and they could not honor that. Also, if I did not call back to confirm no one would show up. When I called the number they left, there was no answer and no way to leave a message. I would not recommend this company based on how I was treated.
Description of Work: GE scheduled a service appoinment for me for warranty work on a my new refrigerator in which icemaker does not work. It's only 2 months old.

FRED'S IS GOOD - VERY HONEST. THEY LET YOU KNOW IT MIGHT TAKE A WHILE TO GET THE PARTS. THIS TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE SAME DAY WITH NO PARTS NEEDED. THEIR PRICE IS A LITTLE HIGHER THAN OTHERS, BUT THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT WILL SERVICE THIS TYPE DISHWASHER AND THEY COME TO SHAKER HEIGHTS ALL THE WAY FROM MADISON. APPROXIMATE COST IS SERVICE CHARGE.

THEY DID THE BEST THEY COULD, BUT IT STILL TOOK THEM 3 1/2 WEEKS TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE HONEST, BUT I WISH THEY COULD HAVE BEEN MORE ON TOP OF THE ORDERING. I LIKED THEM VERY MUCH. I ALMOST CALLED YOU WHEN THE PARTS NEVER CAME IN. THEY FOUND OUT IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT, BUT GOT ON IT RIGHT AWAY AND PAID THE 2ND DAY AIR SHIPPING. THEY CHARGED MY VISA BEFORE THEY EVEN GOT THE SHIPMENT OF PARTS, BUT THEN DISCOVERED THAT THEY COULD DO IT FOR LESS AND TOOK THE EXTRA MONEY OFF MY CARD. I THINK THEY ARE AN HONEST, GOOD COMPANY AND THEY TRIED TO MAKE THE ERROR RIGHT.
