It was lousy service. The salesperson was very wonderful. He said they would find out what I need and then do it. I even had my son with me, hoping I wouldn’t get ripped off. When I asked about the condition of the walls when they were finished, he said they would be ready to paint. They did nothing to scrap down the walls and there were areas where there was water seepage but they didn’t even address that wall. Apparently I signed off on that because they said the only way they could do that would be to rip off the front of my house. I have COPD and I had mold in the house that I felt was probably making me sick. I still have mold down in the basement. He sold me a system that didn’t address the problem that I have in my house. I had to have the housing inspector come out and check it and the work had not been done properly on the inside and they had to redo things on the outside. I feel extremely ripped off. When I complained about the condition of the walls, they slapped up some plastic sheets. I asked what that was supposed to do when they were still moldy; it just covered it up. I was hoping to once and for all address the problem in the basement. I spent a huge amount of money and I still have a basement problem. They put in an exterior system but I felt they were deceptive in what they said they were going to accomplish. The salesman said they would wipe down all the surfaces. They were in and out of here in about three days and when I said something to the worker, he showed me a bottle the size of a bottle of aspirin and he said that’s what they used to wipe down the surfaces. The salesman indicated that they wipe down the rafters and they would wipe down everything in the basement. They put in an air dehydration system and that is doing something but every time I walk down to my basement, I still smell mold. I would have been happy to pay that amount if it had fixed my problem. All that the salesman needed to do was to tell me that this system would solve this issue for me but that it would not undo the damage that was done and I would still need to have work done on the basement. I was not provided with that information. I withheld part of my payment because I was not satisfied and I wanted to get the housing inspector out. They called me one time and tried to get the payment. They didn’t ask to come out to resolve the problem. They took me to court for payment, even though I was dissatisfied with their work. According to their contract, they did what they were supposed to do. According to what their salesman offered and lead me to believe would be accomplished, they did not do that.

When their first salesperson came out to our home, we were actually pretty surprised about how ignorant he was on the situation. Then they sent a second guy and he sold us on the work. We finally don't have water in our basement which is a miracle in itself! I would give them an A- with the fact that the first gentleman who came to our home to sell us on it didn't have a clue what he was talking about. The pricing was probably a little high but it was for both interior and exterior. From that standpoint it covered everything that we needed. We had three other companies come to our home who were less but it was only interior so it would have been less done. If we were to buy a new home, we would probably go with them.
Description of Work: Ohio State Waterproofing did an indoor system and an out door system. They installed a sump pump on the inside of the house and did a special drainage system on the exterior foundation of the home.

During 2011's rainy weather, I dreaded going into the basement and finding running water. I asked OSW to take a look. I was impressed. The sales representative, Alan, was very knowledgeable and informative. The initial team that arrived led by Mike was extremely diligent and hard-working. The company committed to finishing the job within 3 days and they had 12 men working on the 3d day to meet their deadline. They found a leaking kitchen drain pipe inside the home and repaired it. When I asked them to return and make a couple modifications, they returned quickly, did such to my directions, and at no charge. I feel like I have new living space in the home, thanks to OSW. - JM

Our basement was notably wet the first spring after we purchased our house. We called ohio state along with a few other companies to give estimates. Ohio State's price was slightly higher but not much and they offered a lifetime trasferrable warranty so we decided to go with them. The waterproofed our basement from the inside out, installed a sub pump and air purifier. The showed up on time and completed the work in a few days. We're pleased with the results and have not had moisture problems in the basement since. We did opt for the warranty which is $50/year. Last year our sub pump broke, ohio state replaced it the next day for no additional charge. I would be happy to use them again.

They did everything they said they would do. They were right on the spot with making sure that we were very involved in the process and answering any questions that we had throughout the process. I would say that as far as contractors go, they did a really good job of cleaning up after themselves, and making it so that at the end of every day, our house was as assessable as it could be considering what they were doing. They were professional, they were polite considering that my husband was at work during the day, and I was the one that was here while they were doing the job. They showed up every morning on time, and they had the whole job done in four days, and it was snowing!
Description of Work: They had to dig around the foundation of our house, outside and inside and put down a new drainage system to remove the moisture that was coming up into our basement. They also installed a sump pump and an easy breeze system.

didn't show to do the work as scheduled--didn't give a new start date
Description of Work: This company signed a contract almost two months ago to provide a service and has not met its promised deadline to start. It took my deposit, hasn't refunded it, and won't give me a firm date to do the work. I do not trust anything they promise. They have not been straight forward with me.

I had a good experience with this company. The sales pitch is a little strong when they come out to give your estimate and their price is a little higher than some of the other alternatives, but they do a thorough job (outside & inside protection). The crew was very professional and friendly. Arrived when they said they would. There was a project supervisor in the crew making sure everything was going to plan. The same crew came back the next day. They laid down plastic to protect my flooring between the basement and the back door, and draped it over items in the basement to keep clean. They cleaned up everything very well. I had a conflict with the city inspector and they went above and beyond to make sure all issues were dealt with to all parties' satisfaction. They offer a warranty plan that is invaluable as I've had to have them come out a couple times to tweak some trouble areas and they've been on time, courteous, and cleaned up each time.
Description of Work: Older home had no sump pump or waterproofing done prior. They sealed along the outside walls as well as put a sump pump system in the basement.

I was very satisfied with the work they did. It was a messy job. When they were doing siding there it was showing up here, foundation and get jackhammers downstairs, putting piping in and then the cementing. It was a mess; there was no way of getting around that. I had no complaints. They were prompt. They had a crew here. The guys were very good. Any problems they had seen inside or outside they worked on it too. I would recommend them. We had our pump burn out because of the heavy rainfall; they came out within two days and gave us a new pump. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used the services of Ohio State Waterproofing. The last time we used their services was in 2006. We spent $10000. They did waterproofing around the foundation inside and out. Moreover, they fully installed one of their pumps that actually helped during the heavy rainstorm.

They really did a good job. We had them come twice. The first time we had them do the back and the side and the second time the front. They built the wall up in a week's time. They put plastic over everything before they started working. They really treated like their own house. I've recommended them to other people who had issues with their basement wall. They worked nearly eight hours a day. They were here when they said they would be. We didn't have any issues because they did everything right.

They worked too quick. I had concrete in my basement and they tore it up. They redid the cement. They got cement film on everything. He took me to the side of the house and where he dug up the trench, he had pulled out the dryer vent and it was cracked. There was also debris everywhere. They cracked the ceiling tile. He blamed it on the electrician, who they recommended. I can't find a tile to replace the cracked one, so I have a missing tile. It was all around a bad experience.

They charged a lot of money and I'll be paying it off over the next 8 years. The salesman told me that when they left I would never know that they had been here and they would put everything back and clean up. That was not the case. They had to pull up roots in my back and they weren't going to put them back down. They didn't clean up after themselves. I wasn't happy with the whole experience. My wall is now squirting where it shouldn't be.

The whole experience went very well from the initial visit for the bid to the completion of the job. They even started the job earlier than we contracted for and were done in about four days. They had to take floor boards off the front porch [which I said I would do] to do the front wall. They even repaired cracks in floor and filled in the area where we had a temporary sump pump which was not part of the job. They cleaned up after themselves and graded the outside around the foundation. Going from a basement that had at least an inch of water after every hard rain to a dry, mold free basement is awesome. Now we have our rec room back.
Description of Work: We just paid off the five year loan on our basement waterproofing and have not had any water in the basement since the work was done. The professionals at Ohio State Waterproofing did everything that we contracted for. They were always on time and very professional in their work. With the easy breathe system the basement is dry and mold free. The float on the sump pump quit working this year and they were out the next day and replaced the pump and the float at no charge. We are very pleased with their work and highly recommend them.

I received several other estimates and decided not to go with Ohio State Waterproofing, especially after reviewing their patent on the "collar" as well as reviewing their ratings on Angie's List and BBB. When I called the rep back to tell him of our decision to not use them, he got angry and was unpleasant and unprofessional. What's worse is that I've received calls from Ohio State Waterproofing every month for the past eight months, apparently from an office staff person, offering additional discounts if they can come back and provide another estimate. I repeatedly tell them that I'm not using them and for them to stop calling me, but they keep calling and use blocked caller IDs so you can't tell it's them calling unless you pick up. They may have become the major player in the waterproofing area by using these high pressure sales tactics, but they won't be able to retain customers or help their reputation with these methods.
Description of Work: I wanted to get an estimate for basement waterproofing and called Ohio State Waterproofing as they seemed to be the major player in this area. The rep scheduled the appointment but insisted that my wife be present for the estimate even though I said that my wife's presence is not needed for an estimate. At the appointment, the rep took photos and talked about the work that would be done but would not give me an estimate because my wife was not there. We made a second appointment when both my wife and I were available on a weekend and got an estimate. The rep described the "patented" "collar" technology they use on the exterior to complement the standard interior waterproofing method. This exterior solution was highlighted, while the standard interior solution was downplayed because other companies do the interior solution only for less than half (8k) the Ohio State Waterproofing estimate (17k). The sales tactic was decidedly high pressure, with "discounts" quoted if we signed right away despite my telling him that this was our first estimate and we would not be signing until we received more estimates. The rep mentioned that they have crews that may free up in the next few weeks to be available to work if we signed that day. Apparently this is a standard sales pitch to raise the appearance of immediacy. The rep also expressed dismay when I mentioned that I had a coupon from a local coupon book.

Five minutes into the estimate I instantly wanted to tell the "estimator" which is just a salesman to get out of my house and not to call me. I have never seen such scare tactics and felt so much pressure as I did with this company. They could offer their services to me for free and I still would not allow them on my property!

Very high-pressure sales techniques. Took pictures and printed them out to show us just how deadly all the mold in our house was (after other research and opinions, what they were showing us wasn't even a severe problem at all). Basically left us feeling that our house was going to cave in around us. Condescending and pushy. Needless to say we didn't go with them. Run and keep looking - there are MUCH better companies out there!

When I reiterated that " there was not a time I could guarantee that he would be there and they'd have to deal with me or we couldn't do business, which will it be?" the reply was "then we can't help you.". We rec'd quote/estimate ($16K) from OH State Waterproofing (OSWP). The visit took extremely too long (2.25hrs). The salesman spent most of his time trying to sell us on their product we ruled out in 30 minutes. Why would anyone permit a contractor to excavate from the inside, create a separate pit to sit the Ez-breath equipment and weaken the interior wall by cutting a hole to pumpout the impurities. The salesman thought he was doing us a favor by discounting the price ($1K) if signed (High-pressure sales) that day. We advised him we had not rec'd all estimates. He was surprise that we would consider another comapny and began berating the company's owner. The bottom line...we didn't need what he was selling/proposing. Although OSWP calls their process multi-steps (3), 4 of the 5 estimates we rec'd have the same/similar process (3-steps) minus the interior excavation but uses a different membrane to cover the cement sealer. The other contractors took 30-45 minutes to explain their recommendations that took OSWP 2.25hrs. My husband has significant experience dealing with large companies/contractors. OSWP disrespected us and thought we were fools. What OSWP was proposing was not worth the extra $10K. Make sure you get competive bids and know what you are purchasing should you decide to sign-on with Ohio State Waterproofing (OSWP) or any company. We were told they were scheduling for late September early October. However, if we sign the contract that day OSWP would fast track and schedule the project within 2-weeks.
Description of Work: We rec'd quote/estimate ($16K) from OH State Waterproofing (OSWP). While we appreciate a salesman thoroughness, we didn't apprciate the scared tactics (moisture in block walls, mold and some block walls ping(no moisture))...The visit took extremely too long (2.25hrs).
