The guys work amazingly hard and efficiently. It's hard to believe that they could get as much done in just two days, but they did it. My only issue was that the sales people we dealt with were a bit too pushy. I was disappointed that there were no reviews available on Angie's List as I put great reliance on the reviews on Angie's List. If it were not for the fact that I checked with other neighbors and acquaintances who all spoke highly of the work the company did for them, I would likely not have engaged them to perform the work.

The crew showed up on time. The supervisor went over the process in detail and asked if we had any questions. We were home most of the 3 days it took to complete. The whole time the crew was happy, professional and VERY, VERY HARD WORKING. They were also very courteous and clean both inside and out. On the final day they even brought in a crew of 10 additional men to thoroughly complete the job. They even accomodated my wish to slap a bit of cement on an uneven sidewalk in front of our house! They replaced our bushes, swept and hosed the driveway and were diligent about keeping the rest of the house protected from dust. There was a small set back that involved our city Engineer's office and approval for hooking up our waterproofing to the city lines. OSW worked with the city to have that done immediately. We were VERY impressed and happy. They have been back twice and, again, were prompt and helpful. I wanted a change in one spot on the floor and they did it just as I wanted it done! The second time a supervisor came and helped me better understand the air filtration system and sump back up! Most importantly with all the heavy rains this 2014 summer there hasn't been a drop of water anywhere! I smile everytime I hear the sump pump kick on!!! THANK YOU OSW!

Though it was very expensive to completely waterproof the basement, it was very much worth the money. We are on a lifetime warranty. They come back whenever there is a problem. We had a problem with the waste line for the sump pump that they had installed; it came apart. It wasn’t sucking any water out. They came the same day that I called them. They fixed it very quickly. There was no charge as it was under warranty. They do exactly what they say they are going to do. They are a very good company. They honor their warranties. Once it is done, it is done for life. We don’t have to pay for service, parts or labor. They just come to the house and fix it.
Description of Work: Ohio State Waterproofing completely waterproofed our basement outside and inside about eight years ago. They recently came to fix a problem with the waste line for the sump pump.

They came out and looked at the basement. My mother-in-law passed away and we were cleaning out the house to sell it. There were several small cracks in the foundation. They said they could fix it for $20,000.00. We gave them a deposit and several thousand dollars. We decided the house wasn’t worth it and to donate the house to habit for humanity. The company would not refund us the deposit. We called and explained we weren’t selling the house but donating it. They sent people out saying they were keeping the money and that we should not take them to court. They said if we took them to court we would definitely loose the court case. They were very threating over the whole situation. They are not a good company and I would never recommend them to anyone. They are very unscrupulous and unethical company. It was a very highly emotional time for my family and they took advantage of my husband losing his only parent.

When I made the appointment, I told them I needed part of the basement waterproofed, and asked if they did smaller jobs. They said they did. When they confirmed the appointment, I told them again that I wanted only part done - I don't have an issue with any of the basement except a small portion, which has a specific cause to be different. Again, they said they would do only the part I wanted. When the representative got here, he immediately insisted I needed the whole basement to be waterproofed. This is the second time I've contacted Ohio State Waterproofers. No matter what the sales people told me, and no matter how different the affected area is from the rest of the basement, they want to do a hard sell. I will never contact them again.

We hired Ohio State Waterproofing to do both internal and external waterproofing for our home. They did a timely estimate, and when we balked at the initial price they sent out someone else who gave us a lower price. My advice - do not accept their first offer. Work started on time and took less than a week as promise. I have seen in other reviews that they are high pressure. I did not get this feeling. They did a nice job of cleaning up, but the house was dusty (which is to be expected when you break up concrete in the basement). My biggest piece of advice - whatever they promise you in the contracting process, make sure you have them write it down. Had we not had everything written down, the installers would not have done all we were promised.

They gave me a good estimate and I ended up going with a different company. It was a big mistake and I wish that I had gone with this company. I would like to give Ohio State a good recommendation. They showed what they did, they had a brochure and talked about their company. It was a regular sales presentation. It seems like they would have been a much better choice. I would use them again.

They were terrible. I didn't like them. The salesmen lied about what I was getting. They said they were going to dig up around the whole foundation. When they came, they only dug up about 18 inches down the foundation. The salesman had said they would dig all the way down to the footers. They didn't do that. They said they were going to do the inside of the water run and they could work around the plumbing. When the contractors showed up, they said, "Well we're not going to do that." I didn't get any of my money back for that. There's a foot of crawlspace that they said they were going to do also down to the footers. They didn't do much of that. I called the salespeople back and sent the contractors away because I told them this isn't what I thought I was going to get. It ended up, we settled on they were going to do the (inaudible 10:11) on the inside of the crawlspace. They still weren't going to dig up the rest of the foundation. When they did do the work, they had to come back eleven times to fix stuff because I was still getting water in the basement. One time they came back, I was supervising the work and I told them that they didn't go down deep enough and by the time they get to the other end they weren't going to be able to connect to the water drainage outside the house. When they got to the end, exactly what I had told them happened. They weren't able to connect the water pipe to the drainage system. They said, "Well, we'll just see how it goes and see if you get water in the house." I had to wait for the next storm to come to have water come in the house and take pictures of the water coming in the house so that they could come out. They did come out. I had to take the deck apart for them to do the work because they don't do that. You have to do that yourself. I had to leave it apart. I had to put up barriers so people don't walk on that deck and fall in it. I had to leave that like that for another two months for them to come back to do the work because I don't want to do it twice. When they did come back, they had to dig up the whole one side of the house, about 50 linear feet. They had to take out the old site and dig it deeper and put it back in. They could've avoided the whole thing if they weren't just trying to cut corners all the time. You have to watch them like hawks. For that much money, you shouldn't be having to watch them cut corners all the time. They're the worst contractors I've ever had. They're just out to make a buck. They really just want to go house to house and collect money off the reputation. I don't think they have a good reputation anymore. They don't deserve it.

My basement is damp... not wet. I wanted to get an idea of how much it would cost to get things fixed so I can start saving. I signed up at the NARI Home Improvement show for a free estimate. I was told that no obligation to sign a contract and no call backs would be necessary. The salesman that came was very nice and very talkative. He went through all of the companies information and how things work, as well as his recommendations. When it came to price, it didn't seem as if there was any rhyme or reason to it...he just started punching numbers on his calculator. I was floored at how much it would cost... $16,000. I don't have that kind of money. I told him the only way I could pay for something at that price would be to take a distribution from my 401k and I don't want to do that. He started in on the high pressure sales tactics... brought the price down a little more if I signed that day. I wasn't in a position to make such a huge financial decision... I just wanted an estimate so I can start planning for it. Once he finally realized I wasn't going to sign, he was very short with me and left. I can't tell you how many phone calls I received from them trying to get another salesman and a manager to my house to discuss the price and payment plans. I explained to one person that I just couldn't afford it but when the calls kept coming I just started ignoring the calls. Finally they got me the other day... only because they "blocked" their number from my caller ID. The girl asked me when a time was good for me to have a manager come out and discuss options with me. I told her I was not interested having this done right now... that wasn't good enough so she continued... finally I told her I no... SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!! Even if they're product was the best in town, I wouldn't use them... they need better customer service skills. I will find another way to get the basement cleaned up at a better price.

Ohio Waterproofing conned me into signing a contract the day that they visited my house, the next day I drove an hour to their headquarters so I could turn in a cancellation form in person. The next day they sent out the salesman and his boss. They tried to discuss the situation with me and remedy what they could, I simply asked them to leave my home. They use high pressure sales techniques, they will show you gadgets as well as a short presentation on his iPad. This company seems to be all show and like I said ? high pressure.

I called this company because I heard they were good and they were all over the place. We have a serious water leakage problem in our basement. The salesman came out and looked over our problem. He explained very thoroughly what they would do and how they would do it. Their price was quite high. When I said I was not going to commit to a decision that night he became very rude and actually obnoxious. I explained that I was planning on contacting a couple of other contractors for estimates and I would make my decision at that time. He continued to be very rude and extremely angry that I would not sign with him there on the spot. The "so called" good offer he was quoting me was only good for that night. I called the main office to complain about this salesman. I did not use nor would I have used this company after the way I was treated no matter what the cost.

This company cares more about their "Market Research" than doing their actual work. Obviously they are reselling personal information in addition to their normal work. After getting into what my wife and I did for a living, they refused to come out to give us a quote unless we could both be present. My wife doesn't want to deal with contractors, and was actually busy during the agreed upon appointment time. They refused to come unless we would both be present, so I cancelled the appointment. To me it seems like a shady sales tactic so they could try and panic one spouse or the other. None of the other contractors I have worked with have asked for this. Also they wanted 1.5 hours for the appointment. There is nothing involved here that can't be diagnosed and quoted in less than half an hour. Both of the other quotes I have gotten were done in less than that but that was because they came from real contractors who actually do the work, not sales guys.
Description of Work: I met them at the Cleveland Home and Garden Show, and signed up to get a quote for fixing my basement leaks. They called to confirm the appointment today.
The service turned out well. They did a good job explaining what was going on. I was pleased with the work.
Description of Work: They did basement waterproofing. They installed all new drain pipes in the interior of the home. They had to jackhammer to install the new drain pipes and then install new concrete over that. They did outside waterproofing and this included excavation. They installed a sump pump and easy breeze system as well.

They did a horrible job. Because of the lifetime warranty, they had to come out each time there was a problem. They came back and redid the entire job in January. They had to come back another time to redo it as well. The people who I worked with were nice, cordial, and clean. However, underneath my house, they were supposed to put a crock for my sub pump. Instead, they just put a 5-gallon bucket down there instead. They never got a permit from Lake county like they were supposed to for the interior plumbing work. They told me they didn’t need a permit. They tied my sump pump into my sanitary drain. It made a very large noise every time it was used. When the plumbing inspector came out, they could not believe they tied it into the back tub drain. He made them come back and redo the job. They were way overpriced and I believe I paid double for the job. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Company uses high pressure sales tactics. Entire basement covered in cement dust when they left; took a very long time to clean afterwards.
