Cost was no where near their sales dollar per lineal foot advertisement. Work was generally good except for two downspout errors that dropped them to a C rating. The installer used poor judgement on the visual appearance and had to redo the downspouts. They worked in my stone driveway and left a small amount of screws on the ground, I had to clean them up to avoid a tire puncture. They did do a general cleanup of the debris but just not enough. I think other products on the market would be equal at less cost.

When I contracted with them, John Caruso explained to me the gutter system he recommended for my home. It was a leaf-free gutter system, which was superior and more expensive than a regular gutter system. He told me they were 6 inches and never explained the dimensions of my home. Upon his recommendation, I agreed to the system he recommended and signed a contract. Upon installation, I discovered that the fascia on my home doesn't accommodate the gutters and I did not realize that until half of the gutters were already in place. There was a lot of overhang, around 2 inches of it in the front and about 3/4 inches overhang in the back. Whenever I would open the back door, it would scrape the bottom of the gutters because they were hanging too low. My fascia was only about 4-5 inches and this system clearly did not fit my home. I told him that we can't go with that system because it looked horrible. He told me that he could replace some of the areas that were really sticking out with regular gutters. I told him that I wanted a complete system and don't want to have mismatched gutters. He told me that I could go with the regular gutter system and that he would call me with a quote. He called me and quoted the system at $2300, but since prices have "gone up", I would have to pay the cost of labor and materials at the rate of the leaf-free, more expensive system, which brought the price to $2600. I don't feel that I should have to pay a higher cost for a lesser product, when he was the one who was negligent in explaining to me that the gutters were too large for the dimensions of my home. I am a new homeowner and wasn't familiar with the dimensions of my home and trusted his recommendation of the leaf-free gutter system. I feel like I was taken advantage of.

John Caruso, sales representative, had met with Mrs. [Member Name Removed] at her home in the summer of 2016 and conducted a sales presentation which included showing the customer basic info on our company such as Insurance, workers comp and product samples. A large portion of our sales presentation is to listen to the needs of each and every customer and provide a viable solution to the issue the customer is having. Although it may be hard to completely visualize a new product on your home, we try to do our best to describe the size, features and benefits of the K-Guard Clog Free Gutter System in many ways. We use pictures of previous installations and actual product samples. During the install process, Mrs. [Member Name Removed] had raised a concern about the size of her new gutter system. We then worked through Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s concerns, making sure we did what we could to show her that our gutter system would look good and function properly. Another concern that the customer had was with the rear entry door. She was concerned that the gutter would not fit above the door. However, after installing the gutter in that area, the door cleared the gutter without an issue. When pitching the gutters to move the water appropriately it is normal to have the gutter hang below the fascia board a small amount. After several attempts of showing the customer that all was well with her new gutter system, Mrs. [Member Name Removed] still didn't want the gutters installed on her home. We removed the gutters and cleaned up behind ourselves. The sales rep was scheduled Meet with Mrs. [Member Name Removed] to give her another option of standard gutters and screens which had a smaller profile and a different warranty. John Caruso had presented the product and proposal to the customer at that time the customer wanted to get additional estimates. We had tried to contact the customer several times after her sales rep, John, had met with her and we received no response. We had assumed the customer had chosen to have new gutters installed by a different company.

They used a far superior products when replacing my gutters and downspouts. They did the service very professionally and quickly. They did some extra aluminum work at no extra charge. When they had to replace a board that was not in the plan of the service, they did so with out charge. They were friendly, finished the service a day ahead of schedule, and cleaned up well.

After interviewing half a dozen gutter companies over the last few years, I chose KGuard. I had made it very clear to the salesman that I wanted to be called on my cell phone when the job was going to be done. This did not happen. When I arrived home there was a message on my answering stating when they would be at my house, which was after I had left for work. I arrived home to find pieces of metal, some with nails in them, and sheet metal screws all over the driveway and front lawn. I am still finding screws in the bushes. I found the trash from lunch in the driveway and trash which the workmen should have taken away leaning on the garage door. I was assured by the salesman that I needed to have my 4" downspouts replaced with new 4": downspouts to receive the warranty. The downspouts I got were 3". I was told that a hose would be run down the storm sewer pipes to make certain that they were flowing. This was clearly not done. Per City code the downspouts are to be cemented in. This was not done. The electric lines were torn off the back of my house and not put back. Somehow the installers managed to disconnect my invisible fence. I have two dogs. What would they do if one of the dogs had stepped on a piece of metal, a nail, or a screw and cut his foot? What would they do if one of the dogs had gotten out into traffic and been hit by a car or worse, killed? I have do idea if I received the correct gutters or not. For various physical reasons, I am unable to climb a ladder to check. I can promise you that I will never recommend this company to anyone. UPDATE 10/26/2016: I have the originally proposal, which I never signed. Now they've sent me a copy of the form with my signature forged.

We are sorry that Mr. [Member Name Removed] is unhappy, but we strongly deny his allegations that we did anything improper, unethical or immoral. Normally we don't respond to our Customer Reviews. We believe that, in general, Customer Reviews speak for themselves. We place a high value on Customer Satisfaction and we believe that our 150 "A" Reviews and our Five Super Service Awards are an indication of the Value we place and the effort we make on Customer Service. From time to time, we make mistakes. When this happens, we take responsibility and do whatever is necessary to repair our error and mitigate the problem. We also take any lumps we deserve if the customer chooses to write a negative Review. Occasionally, a customer's version of events are either so different than the facts that we have, or a claim is made that we believe is inaccurate and is so damaging to our company, we are compelled to respond. This is one of these situations. We did make a mistake at Mr. [Member Name Removed]' home by installing the wrong size downspouts on his home during our original installation. We acknowledged that, apologized, and tried to make arrangements to correct this error by returning and making the necessary changes. Mr. [Member Name Removed] chose not to allow us to do this and so, at his request, we provided a credit on the contract to allow him to have the work done by another contractor. We accept 100% responsibility for this error and we made this mistake right by providing Mr. [Member Name Removed] with the credit he requested to his Contract. The rest of Mr. [Member Name Removed]' claims are where we have an issue. These are the facts that we have and can document to repudiate Mr. [Member Name Removed]' claims: Mr. [Member Name Removed] accused us of forging his signature on our contract. I investigated this claim. Our Representative, John, went to Mr. [Member Name Removed]' home twice, the first time on 5/21/2016 to give him the original Proposal (which was not accepted at that time), and a second time on 6/3/2016. The second visit was at Mr. [Member Name Removed]' request to pick up a Deposit Check and the signed Proposal as Mr. [Member Name Removed] had decided to go forward with the project. Mr. [Member Name Removed] points to his unsigned Proposal (a copy of which he sent to us) as proof that he never signed the Proposal. At Mr. [Member Name Removed]' request, we sent him a copy of the signed proposal that was in our files around 10/13/2016. It was this signed Proposal that Mr. [Member Name Removed] uses as the basis of his forgery allegation. My investigation of this matter provided the following facts that disprove Mr. [Member Name Removed] claim of forgery. At the 6/3/2016 (second) meeting between Mr. [Member Name Removed] and our company, John re-wrote the Proposal as he inadvertently forgot to bring the original Proposal with him. I compared the copy of the Proposal Mr. [Member Name Removed] sent to us to the copy we had in our file. Inconsistencies in the two Proposals (documentation available) clearly demonstrate that there were two different Proposals written. This explains Mr. [Member Name Removed]' unsigned copy. I then compared the signature on the deposit check that Mr. [Member Name Removed] signed to the signature on the Proposal that he claims was forged. I'm not an expert, but the signatures looked the same to me. In addition to these facts, logic dictates that because John went back for a second meeting at Mr. [Member Name Removed]' request to pick up the signed contract and the Deposit Check, there would be no cause for any forgery to occur. A few weeks after Mr. [Member Name Removed] made the forgery claim, he sent an unsigned check to our office in the amount of the balance due on his contract. I called him after receiving this and said that I would like to come and meet him to have him sign the check. I didn't get a response to this call. We did receive a signed check from Mr. [Member Name Removed] approximately one week later, along with a derogatory note, regarding the integrity of our company. As for Mr. [Member Name Removed]' claim that we didn't call in advance of installation as he requested, our phone records provide a different version of events. The original installation work was done on June 16, 2016. Our phone records (copies available) list outbound calls from the desk of our scheduling person to Mr. [Member Name Removed]' phone on June 13, June 14, and June 15, one inbound call from Mr. [Member Name Removed]' phone to our office on June 15, and another call from our office to Mr. [Member Name Removed] on June 17. It is our policy to call our customers the day after installation to ensure they are satisfied with the work. All of these calls were around one minute in length indicating that there was either direct communication or that a message was left. I'm not saying that Mr. [Member Name Removed] is fabricating this claim, but I can't explain how these call records could exist along with Mr. [Member Name Removed]' claim that he was not contacted in advance as requested. All our attempts to contact Mr. [Member Name Removed] after the installation were ignored except for when we sent correspondence via Certified Mail. For brevity sake, I won't list the dates of these attempted communications. I will say that we don't normally use Certified Mail to communicate with our customers because we wouldn't want to waste the time and money required to do so if we were able to communicate in a more standard fashion. As for his other claims about poor clean up and damage done to electrical wires, we have no way to verify these claims one way or the other as Mr. [Member Name Removed] would not let us back on the property. If these claims were true we certainly would have mitigated them immediately as stated above. For anyone interested, our documentation for the facts that we state above can be viewed at our office at any time during normal business hours.

The installers arrived on time and worked efficiently. They answered any questions I had. A few weeks after installation I was wakened from sleep by the hard rain beating on their gutter downspout. I called and the first customer – service rep was unsympathetic . A few days later a manager called & had them install a muffler now large ice cycles hang from my gutters where they did not before.

We did make a mistake in the job processing. We installed a basic 6" gutter without stainless steel micro mesh during the original install. We would like to say we are perfect, without mistakes, but occasionally we make a mistake and strive to correct it. We use the feedback to improve our procedures and the experience our customers receive. We returned and installed the stainless steel micro mesh once we discovered what went wrong. We did receive an additional phone call from Mrs. [Member Name Removed] that she was experiencing some noises with her new gutters when it rained. We visited the home and investigated the noise issue. We fabricated a custom buffer in the down spout that would soften the noise from the water running down the down spouts. We installed the sound buffer free of charge to show good will.

I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship of K Guard. I called several roofing companies that either wanted a deposit just to come do an inspection or provide me with a quote for simply doing band aid type fixes (Jelek Roofing). These other companies were so unprofessional and simply wanted my money without fundamentally fixing my problem. This was not the case with K Guard. I worked with Mike and he came by to do the inspection and spelled out for me all that needed to be done to my roof. A few years ago we hired the Amish to do a new roof. These Amish did not do a good job and I had leaks in my roof. If you are looking for a company to do the right thing and to treat customers with respect, hire K Guard. Everyone in the office, the team who did the work, and Mike were all professional, knowledgeable, and expressed sincere interest to solve my problem and treat me well. I am very happy.

I was surprised that the cost advertised per foot was not only per foot of gutter but also per foot of downspouts. If your downspout was less than 10 foot, you were charged 10 foot per drop. In my house, that would add $180 per downspout over the cost of the gutters. I thought their advertising of $$$ per foot was misleading and should say $$$$ per foot of gutter and $$$ per foot of downspouts at a min. of 10 foot per downspout.

In short, not good. The gutters themselves are great and work as expected. However, the installation experience was one of the worst for such a quick project. I would encourage others to check your drip edge after installation as I was told that our experience was "similar" to others. I posted a few pictures so you get an idea of how it looked after the install. The installation took place in one day. I returned home from work and the gutters looked great from eye level. I jumped on a ladder to check the install and was surprised at the state of the drip edge. Each connected piece of drip edge was pulled back and heavily damaged. I assumed the company would be back the next day to fix it. Instead, we were sent the bill. When I asked about the drip edge, I was told that this happens "all the time" and does not compromise the roof or the gutters. I had a few contractors come out for quotes and everyone strongly recommended to fix the drip edge due to potential ice dams and carpenter bees (we have a log home). Eventually, K Guard quoted a repair price. When I pushed back on paying for this on my end, they responded quickly and patched the areas with drip edge extensions on their dime. The drip edge still looks terrible but at least it will survive the winter and protect the wood. I'll look into replacing the drip edge on my own next summer. I'm glad to hear others had better experiences and maybe this was a one off. I'd still advise folks to check their drip edge after any install. I'm also thankful that they attempted to address the problem once I argued enough. I'm greatly disappointed as I was expecting excellent service and limited hassle from a company with such a strong reputation. Another word of caution, I was told that they do not negotiate prices or have coupons. I ran with what they told me. Sure enough, I found a $300 coupon in last week's local mailings. Again, maybe a one time bad sale's person. However, it was a bad experience all around.
