From the first professional estimate, follow up calls to the completion and clean up, we were pleased and impressed!

We had Window Universe come out to our home to quote installation for some kitchen windows that badly needed updated. We have an 100+ year old home with some odd sizes so we weren?t sure what to go with. Andy gave some great recommendations so then we decided to go with an awning window above our sink. At the last minute we also decided on having awning windows also installed on our back entry room. Andy was more than accommodating to our needs and our new windows look great! Andy kept us updated throughout the whole process and answered any questions we had right away. He even followed up after the installation to make sure we were satisfied with everything. It was nice to have good communication from start to finish because you just don?t get that with many companies today. The crew that did the installation was friendly, professional, and they also cleaned up everything when they were finished (which we really appreciated!). They were quick too, these guys really know their stuff! Oh, one more thing ... we liked the new windows so much that we had Andy come back and give us a quote for new basement windows!

Originally we contacted an extremely well-known and highly-regarded national company for an estimate. To our surprise, their rep had NO IDEA how to replace a bow window -- in truth, it was as though he'd never seen a window before. He didn't know what to measure, what to suggest, whether a replacement was even feasible, what damage might occur, nor could he provide examples of similar situations--despite the excellent reputation of their products! Surely this was his first day on the job. He hemmed and hawed for quite some time, went out to his truck to call his "supervisor" once or twice, and finally came up with a "tentative" quote of (!!!!!) $12,000. Wow, that seemed outrageous to us. He could answer virtually no questions about windows, such as differences in materials and whatnot. The whole appointment took well over an hour, yet in the end he said that, really, his supervisor would have to visit -- so after all this time, the estimate was worthless. He said the estimate might go up (but not down, oddly...). Waste of time. By comparison, the sales rep from Window Universe--Sam Steinacker--was a breath of fresh air. Totally professional, competant, quick, detail-oriented, personable and (important!) fully informed about windows. He immediately assessed the bow window, shared our concerns about maintaining the overall "look", and offered a sensible solution that would work perfectly. The other windows were straightforward, and the whole conversation--with measurements and precisely calculated quote--took only about 40 minutes. With Sam, we were relieved at the reasonable price and were confident about the company's attention to details. Installers were nothing short of terrific. Obviously highly experienced -- very efficient, careful and thorough. Cheerful too! One fellow encountered a marble sill that unexpectely broke during tear-out (it was probably already cracked), and he soon returned with a brand-new replacement, insisting that it be free-of-charge. Really, both fellows went the extra mile to do a beautiful job. After installation, a couple of minor issues with fit and latches were resolved immediately.

The price was right, and they did a really good job. They were very professional. I had them do half of the windows late last year, and I liked the job, so I called them back this spring to do the other 12 windows.

They always showed up on time and were very professional. We were very impressed with the follow-up service that they provided.

We went through with 5 or 8 people came to the house. The man who came from Window Universe was outstanding and honest. Every time a person came we learnt more about windows, as we never owned a house before and didn’t know the cost of it or what goes in it. The salesman arrived when he said he would be here. He was very respectful and professional in the house. They were very responsive and this person was very professional. They give you manufactures guarantee also.

The exceptional part about the service is that after the phone quote I called them out to confirm pricing. They came out and confirmed the pricing (same as original quote), gave me details about all the products (made in Ohio!), the incredible warranty, and scheduled an appt with the installer. The installer came by and looked at the window and door areas, noting there would probably be some challenges due to the age of the home and some existing damage. No extra charges even though they had to replace one sill plate and repair the other as well as adjust some of the door framing. Window Universe walked me through every step ensuing I was involved in the decision rather than just doing it. I really appreciated how honest this company was from the first call to the followup after installation to ensure everything was working porperly. I will refer and use Window Universe in the future!

All around excellent experience. Sam did a great job explaining our options and gave us a solid estimate; when we asked about other discounts that Window Universe was offering to Angie's List members Sam was able to match best deal without our having to purchase a coupon, that saved us some upfront expense. Window Universe did not over promise and definitely over delivered! Windows came in ahead of schedule and installation was accomplished sooner than expected. Installation was fast and clean with no surprises. It has now been one month since installation and we have had zero problems with the new windows, everything is airtight and our finished attic is certainly warmer and less drafty. Kudos to the Window Universe team; we are very pleased and will be using them again in the near future. We would certainly be comfortable recommending them to others.

Overall, Window Universe (of the 4 companies we had come out) - provided the most relaxed / laid back personality and pricing was 100% itemized -- nothing hidden (no lump sum price); no pressure to buy; We ended up adding to our order and I knew exactly what my costs would be ahead of time with the pricing schedule. Window quality is a very good mid line window for an average house in Lakewood. Thier capping quality was excellent (coming from a picky do everything myself on my own house kind of person). Every concern along the way was addressed. Installer was very professional and courteous. We will be finishing the house in 2012 without a question using Window Universe. If you're in the market and have the time -- get the other guys to come out -- I'm confident you'll like these guys best.

After getting 4 quotes from a variety of window companies in the area, I chose Window Universe. The sales rep, Andy, was by far the friendliest of all the sales people I met with and gave the most competitive pricing. My windows had LowE/Argon and met the 2011 tax credit criteria. The presentation was informative but not too long like some of the others. I think the whole appointment was over in less than an hour. I received a weekly update through email which was nice because I didn’t ever need to call and ask what was going on with my order. On the installation day, the installers arrived on time and finished the job the same day. The windows look and operate great. The lifetime warranty covers glass breakage and is transferrable. Overall, Window Universe met my expectations. I would refer them to anyone looking to replace their windows.

Andy, one of the owners, was very responsive and flexible with regards to scheduling a meeting at the property which needed new windows. They could tell from the start that it was a business decision to replace the windows and kept their presentation to a minimum and I was very impressed. There was no need to negotiate with Andy because his pricing was very straight forward and lower than his competitors. I look forward to using them again in the near future on my next real estate investment.
