My son and I smelled a really strong electrical odor. They sent an electrician the same day named Brandon S. He was able to detect the issue as faulty light bulbs in my kitchen ceiling fan. Once removed, the smell went completely away and he did not charge me for the visit. He was very kind, professional, and even gave me a light bulb that he recommended I use. I would recommend this company.
Description of Work: My son and I smelled a pungent electrical odor, like plastic burning and could not figure out where it was coming from.

Very badly. While the service member arrived on time an behaved professionally his work was both expensive and bad. He charged more than appropriate for re-wiring three switches including a dimer. His installation of the dimer was poor, involving damage to the plaster and a rather badly angled screw. He installed ivory switches inside a white faceplate. After installing the dimer, he discovered that it did not work and suggested that we pay him an additional $200 to check the ballast in our (incandescent) chandelier, and assured us that there must be a ballast. In fact, there was not a ballast, according to the manufacturer. After telling him not to continue but to call us back that evening (we were out of time) he did not call us back. Subsequently I repaired the light, which (it seems strangely) had ceased to be connected to the power in the ceiling: a logical place to examine for an incandescent light, which does not have a ballast.

There was a minor hiccup during the scheduling process where I thought they scheduled for 1 day and it was the next day in their system. The dispatch team quickly resolved the issue and was able to find a technician to come out on the day I needed them. The technician Ryan was very professional and timely and made quick work of the job. Despite what other reviews say would absolutely work with them again and recommend to friends and family

They did a good job, price was a little on the expensive side, but they did a lot of work and fast as the house was for sale. It took more than one person to do the work. They were very prompt and came right away, They took care of business, I didn't have to fool too much. Haven't had a problem since. They put everything in and it was fine. I would use them again. They came back for the building inspector, got the permit. I feel safe and don't feel like they did a shoddy job. I didn't realize the house wasn't grounded.
Description of Work: .He did a rental property for me. He came and said the house wasn't grounded. I had to have the whole house grounded and a new fuse box. He did a lot of work and came fast.

Very pleased. He had to dig a new trench and re-route the electrical from a new spot at the house to the detached garage. Line works fine and was well hidden from plain site at the area where it could not be run underground.

Their service was very unprofessional. The window for the appointment was 5:00pm to 7:00pm. No one stopped by and no one called to inform us of the inability to make the appointment. I understand that issues arise but we should have been contacted. We will never recommend or use this company.

He told me what was causing problems with my light. Their pricing was very reasonable. He took the time to show me what was going on and made sure I understood everything so I wouldn't have anymore headaches. I really appreciate that he did that for me.

Every time I call Mr. Electric, and they schedule me for a service they will call me just before the service time and cancel my appointment. I have lost time at work leaving early just to have them cancel the appointment this has been done to me several time. And the person on the phone that I spoke to about this was very very nasty. The salesman provided an excellent quote and plan. We attempted to apply for financing for the project with Mr. Electric (via Wells Fargo) over the phone. On the first call, we provided our information (SSN, income, etc.) for a credit application and were told we'd be contacted with a potential date for service and the credit result. We never received a call. Two calls later, we were told we could no longer apply via phone and were required to apply through a credit manager. We requested the application. Four phone calls later, we finally received an email with the application on January 26. I submitted the application and we were, unfortunately, declined. However, my wife and I both received credit inquiries from January 25th (before we submitted the formal application) and January 26th! We brought this to Mr. Electric's attention on the 27th and were told it would be investigated. As of February 6th, we haven't received any further communication.
Description of Work: We had a salesman out to provide a quote for new outlets and a rewire. The salesman was exceptional. However, our experience with customer service was utterly disgraceful.

I have used this company previously, so this is an additional comment for this most recent job. This job was to replace a bathroom exhaust fan that I already purchased, so the cost was just for installation. I wasn't able to see any markings on the existing fixture regarding brand, so I purchased a whole new unit for $100.00 vs just a replacement fan for $15.00. An estimate was given for $275.00 and was approved with a signature. To my surprise though, when I went to take the garbage out for the week I found that they only put in 1/4 of the new fixture, which was the fan portion. My whole purpose for purchasing the whole fixture was to be able to buy manufacturer replacement parts which go with that fixture for when the fan burns out again. Anyhow, the technician who I am not even sure was an electrician plugged in the new fan and was out the door in less than 20-30 minutes and charged a reduced fee of $150.00. Communication with this company is very difficult and absent at times. This company has extensive hours and technicians without licenses are supposed to be working under direct supervision, so I am not sure why I was having such a problem trying to talk to someone in charge. I have called the company numerous times, mostly being told that they would leave a message. I asked to speak to a manager and I was given the name of Mike Carte, but was told that he was off the clock. My initial phone calls were on a Friday evening prior to the listed times available on this site. ---Saturday Morning we got 2 calls from Mr. Electric. Both my husband and myself were both told that as a courtesy the company was going to send someone out at no charge to replace the rest of the fixture. My husband and I were very impressed and happy as could be until the technician that they sent out got to our house. This person came into our house and immediately started defending the original technician without even seeing the fixture or knowing even which room the fixture was to go in. Not wanting to continue arguing why I would pay $100 for a fixture when only the $15 part was installed, I asked that the technician please just install the remaining part of the fixture since I had to leave to help my elderly mother. The technician then stated that the fee would be $400.00! We went from free to $400.00! I then asked about the original quote of $275.00 which was the original signed quote and the "free" offer and he told us that he would settle on the $275.00 since that is what we had on our quote. I then asked if this person was an electrician since we had another problem with this company with an Unlicensed Electrician, and he told us that he was a licensed electrician. I then asked again, "you are a licensed electrician?". This person again stated, yes I am a licensed electrician. So I asked again more clearly, "Are you an Ohio Licensed Electrician, with an Ohio License"? Only then did he state that he is not licensed but is working under a licensed electrician, but nobody else was with him. I couldn't even get his manager on the phone! This is the second time that I have had people show up to our house from this company claiming to be an electrician, when in fact they are not. This is the second time that there have been mistakes---SO I WILL BE CONTACTING THE STATE OF OHIO THIS TIME TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER.

I have used them several times throughout the summer and fall. The job went perfect. They were really easy to work with. Their price is high but they did a good job.

I called and explained in detail the problem was having and what I thought might be needed for the repair. The man who came out was very friendly and came within the hour. He didn't bring any parts with him though and wasn't prepared to do any work. He only gave me a list of their prices which I thought were very high. I told him I couldn't afford their services and decided not to use the company. I was not charged for the visit and the man who came was very nice but their prices were just too high.
Description of Work: I have a flourescent light fixture on my ceiling the goes out every single year and I wanted to have it checked out.

I would like to see Angie's List members treated with respect. Say no to Mr. Electric.
Description of Work: I have a one year service contract with Mr. Electric. He rewired 2 rooms, 2 kitchen appliance outlets, and two GFIs. After he did the work, I had some difficulty with some outlets. I asked to have someone come back out and I was told by the electrical manager, "I will not be sending anyone to your home." I asked why, and he asked, "Did the city inspector pass the inspection?" I said yes, and told him the service contract was good for one year. Again, I got the same reply. I mentioned the BBB, but he did not seem to care. I left a phone message with upper management and asked for a reply, but have not heard back yet. There is only one electrical manager for Mr. Electric at present who carries the license for all the electricians.

I called this company to see if they would come to my home to give me an estimate of the cost to fix the light in my upstairs hallway that has not worked in years. I also needed this company to see about a transformer in my living room that looked like it was burning on the outside of the casing. The young man came to my home and investigated the problems and he fixed the upstairs hallway light with no problem. So happy to get it fixed too!!! The transformer was burning because he said it had to be replaced. He told me to go online and order another one. So I did order another one and it did take a week for it to arrive from Florida. I wanted to have them put it in, but the young man that came to my house said that I could do it and he would help me put the transformer on. I did not want to put the transformer on I hired this company to do the work. I was told that I would have to pay another $100 dollars for them to come back out to put it on for me. First of all, I do not just have transformers sitting around my house, I had to order the transformer nor did he have one in his truck that he could have brought. In my opinion, I should not have to pay another $100 for the continuation of the same visit. I would even pay up to $50 for them to come back to the house for 5 minutes of their time just to put it on for me. I know that businesses cannot run on free visits, but my situation was not resolved nor did I get my full service for what I paid for already.

A man came out, his name was Brian, to give me an estimate on work I needed done. Mike was the supervisor. They offered me $200 off of my service. It was going to be $1240 for the electrical panel and $350 to run power to my shed. They were suppose to come out 9/23/14 and be here between 8-10. They never showed up. I called them and rescheduled for Tuesday 9/24/14. No call/no show. They finally showed up on 9/30/14. I was told the job was underbid. It would be $2240 for the electrical panel and an additional $1600 for the shed. I asked if they would honor the estimate that Brian gave me. Said it was underbid and that Brian was no longer with the company. Mike said they were unaware of the estimate and there were no notes about it in the file. He forgot connectors and had to leave to go get some.Then he brought the wrong panel and had to leave again. He flipped my lights off and on so many times my microwave will only display military time. They rip people off. I would not recommend them to anyone for anything.

I am extremely annoyed at him. I am on dialysis and I am going to the clinic plus my house so I bought a white reflector in the house and I was told he was to come out to do an evaluation and let me know what it was to cost to fix it. He charged my wife $138. 41 for a diagnostic check and then he left me a quote of $3150 to upgrade all my stuff and to fix this problem. I called another company since I wanted to be sure what the problem is before I went and spent all this money. The problem really is that it was not my front lawn, but in the room that the junction box is in, he changed the dispatcher out there and the problem is gone. All these things that this guy was trying to quote me had nothing to do with it and he still billed me. I called them yesterday morning and I was expecting a call back in the afternoon or today. I received no response so I called back again this afternoon and I told the girl that I need to talk to somebody, a decision maker since they need to refund the money. She told me that the manager won’t be in until tomorrow. However my gut feeling is that I will receive a call back. I literally saw what was wrong. Overall he did not diagnose what was really wrong and he wanted to bill me for it and then upgrade my services to code which every house has that issue. If I had that my gut feeling tells me that I would have spent $3100, he would have taken my equipment, bring it up to code and then call the other company to come and fix it. When you don’t respond to me that shows that there is something else going on. If he would have properly diagnosed the issue I would not have bothered. But from I can tell he really did not get evolved and called in my son-in-law and they could not even see that this guy was even in there. The urgency of this is high because of my dialysis and he did not come out quickly and when he did it was well after 3 or 4 O’clock. **UPDATE 10/23/2014** A couple weeks ago Mike (owner) claimed he would be sending me a check and I still haven't seen it. He now is refusing to answer any of my calls or voice mail messages.

I would never, ever use these guys again! We went with them because they advertise that they are super quick and will get to you fast and get the work done. We were under a time constraint so although we found cheaper estimates Mr. Electric could get to us quick and and told us they would be done in 2 days. Yes they did get started on the work quickly after the estimate but a job that should have taken 2 days of work ended up taking 4 days. And they did not pull the permits so here we are, almost a week after the work was completed, and are still waiting for the inspection. Not quick at all. We could have gone with the cheaper estimates and had everything completed by now. We have called several times but we have not heard anything from them. He was supposed to call Friday, we never heard from him, then we left a message today (Monday) and still haven't heard from him. My husband called the building department and we were told that they contacted Mr. Electric this morning to come and pay the permit fee but they never did. Now we are waiting to hear back from them. We have a lot of finishing work to do and are on hold until we hear from them. I feel like we just got screwed. The second thing that happened that we were really upset about was we paid $1150 to get a new panel and the guy shows us the "new" panel he installed and he used all of our old breakers. So we called him out on that and he said that he bought the new breakers and could come the next day to install them. Why would you buy the parts but not install them and then add another day of work? It was just so shady. This company has been the most unprofessional company we have ever dealt with. It's impossible to get a hold of anybody besides the secretary and they never get back to you. Stay away from these guys!

I scheduled an appointment for our rental property between 11-1. I notified the tenants as we both had to be there. I arrived there at 10:55am and waited. They called me at 12:06pm to tell me "the technician" wasn't available and couldn't get there until 2 or 3pm. I went back to work and they called back at 12:45 and said the technician was on his way and would be there at 1:15. I left work again and went back over and waited. When he did get there, he told me it would be $138 just for the service call as he was a "master electrician". I needed a GFCI replaced ($199) and one plug in a socket repaired ($179). He left filthy black hand prints all over the wall around the plug he was working on. He didn't even check to make sure the plug was working. OUTRAGEOUS prices for sub-par service. I would never hire them again.
