There was a bit of confusion on the appointment, but was resolved very easily. I met with the owner and not only did I get the $99 for the first 500 sq ft of insulation, but because of purchasing the deal from Angie's list, the remaining amount was also discounted. They came in at half of other estimates. The owner was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. I will update my review once the project is complete.

Overall we are very pleased with the outcome. A two man crew arrived and the lead man had the most experience. I was a little uncomfortable with the second guy, but he was under the direction of the lead worker. It was a little unnerving but it turned out well. Be prepared for noise. We have a brick exterior that they drilled into and there was a lot of dust and noise. The dust sifts into the house for a few days. I would advise someone to be clear in understanding how they are going to put the foam into the walls. Because the work may alter the look of their home. In our case it was not too bad. They make sure they match up the grout which was good. The representative was very knowledgeable and was able to give us an estimate on how much we would save on our heating bill. The results of having the insulation installed were fantastic. We noticed immediately that the insulation drowned out a lot of noise. When the cold weather arrived, we noticed immediately that the house was much warmer. We lived in this house for 6 years. Even our upstairs bedroom was warm. Our walls, doors, and windows were all much warmer. We even noticed a decrease in our energy bill for heating by a quarter or more. We noticed the same level of air distribution in the summer with the house overall being much cooler.

No contact to date, it has been 6 days and the promotion is over.
Description of Work: Nothing, I called USA Insulation on August 30th to get a quote on the Angies List promotion for 500 square feet of attic insulation. The price was $99.00. I spoke with a person named Page, and asked for the price for my attic which was more than the 500 square feet. Page did not have the information and would get back with me in about 10 minutes to give me and exact quote. I also called back 2 more times to only get an answering machine and left a detailed message. I also called on Saturday, August 31st and received the answering machine again. I left a message for some one to get back to me about my project. It has been 6 days and I am waiting for that call!! At

I only called based on Angie's List Big deal, 2 problems. 1st called earlier in the day left my phone number and name (twice in the message) and never received a call back. 2nd called the 800 number and was transferred to "my store". She didn't identify herself. She seemed very annoyed I was bothering her when I was asking questions about the Big Deal she didn't know what it said. Then asked for cost per sq ft to confirm the deal. $99 for a $500 value for 500 sq ft blown in insulation. $500 for 500 sq = $1 per sq ft. "No" she says "its normally $1.50 per sq ft". So either the deal is bigger than 80% off or they jack up prices after the first $500 sq ft. Which was not how the deal or the lady on the phone presented it. So is it $99 for a $750? Concerns me when "deals" are not clearly defined and/or seems to good to be true.

We were interested in a todays special listed by USA insulation last week. Before buying my husband spoke with the company as we were thinking it would require more work than the special allowed for. We had a free estimate and a very nice gentleman Emmett Greely came out and inspected our attic. He noted that we really did not need more insulation as by husband had thought and explained some of the ice issues we have in the winter are not caused by lack of sufficient insulation. We are so grateful for his honesty and professionalism- what a pleasure to find in this day and age! Be assured we will certainly be recommending this company to everyone we know who needs insulating services.

From the estimate to the actual work, I was impressed with everyone I came into contact with at USA Insulation. The estimator was straightforward, knowledgeable, and more thorough than the other company I had out to give me a quote. The guys who did the job were patient with my questions and satisfied me with their explanations. They worked hard and finished everything in about six hours. They adequately prepared me for any after effects of the work (mostly the continued expansion of the insulation), and I was able to handle any spot cleanups that revealed themselves over the next few days.

The sales agent arrived about 5 minutes before I got home but my wife was able to explain our situation (which was not a big deal). When I came home, the agent was just finishing his demonstration of the products they provided, including adding insulation to the walls (something that we did not need). I asked my wife if she explained to him what we needed, and she thought she was clear with him, so I explained it again. The agent told us that adding insulation to the attic may give us a sense of comfort but what we needed was to have the walls insulated. Claiming since our house was build in 1979, there was very little insulation in the walls. I asked if he even looked closely at my house. At this point, I just asked the agent to leave. He was wasting my family's time and was not listening to what I need or was not offering a product that we specifically needed. A week later, we received a phone call from their USA insulation office, asking what would be a good time to come out to do the insulation. I asked the lady on the phone what she was talking about. She informed us that we were on the list to have wall insulated. At this point, I was anger. We never signed up or agreed for service with USA Insulation. I told the lady that there was never an agreement for service and if anyone from their company showed up at my house, the door would be closed on their face. She apologized and would remove us from the list.
Description of Work: In the stairwell leading to upstairs, I discovered that there was no insulation installed in the attic. During the winter, you could feel the cold entering the house through the stairwell. This job was very specific, install insulation into the stair well and if need be additional insulation in the attic.

Response from USA Insulation of Columbus
In response to the F rating you felt compelled to give our company, we are sorry you felt this way. We as a company consider ourselves experts in the insulation field for over 28 years. Our opinion is your choice to except our recommendation or not. In this case, your decision was not to use us and we were only following up on the bid, and as your response stated the woman working for us unintentionally took you off our list and apologies for following up. Given the AngiesList report was graded on not agreeing with our recommendation and not on service provided, we are asking to maybe reconsider the severity of the F. We take our AngiesList grading very seriously and we have supported the list since there 1st year in business as you well know is important for future business for us. Respectfully, Steve Cikach President of Customer Relations USA Insulation

My wife & I had seen USA Insulations booth at the Columbus, OH Home & Garden Show a couple years ago, we attended the Dayton, OH Home & Garden show in March of 2013, there we met Steve, the owner of USA Insulation, talked with him for awhile about his products, set a time for him to come to our home. Steve arrived right on schedule, gave us an estimate of he thought we should do, quoted a price, explaned the financing options and was on his way. My wife & I talked about it for awhile and called him to set a time to do the insulation work. A time was scheduled to install the foam insulation the next Friday, Dean & his crew arrived on schedule, got right to work, did a great job and were on their way in less than 3 1/2 hours. On Monday, they returned to spray foam insulation in my crawl space. We have a Cape Cod style home and it has been drafty since we built it 20 years ago ( it is a modular style home). When Dean & his crew were pumping the insulation in the walls, Dean made the comment that he has done this for so long, that he can tell if the insulation in the walls meets the floor & ceiling, it did not in our home, no wonder we have had drafts all this time! Our home is much quieter now, we live less than 1/4 mile from a state highway that has a lot of truck traffic, we have always been able to hear the trucks, no now!!! I have already recommended USA Insulation to some friends. My next door neighbor ask about the sign in the yard, "what did you have done? I did not see anyone there, your house looks just the same" I explained the process to him, he seemed to be impressed with the way it worked and was going to check out the website. Update 1/30/2015, nearly 2 years after having the insulation done, now I am not a happy customer. We have had some exterior remodeling done as well as some interior, I have a contractor at my home now, replacing some OSB board that is bad (not from anything USA Insulation did), took the siding and styrafoam insulation off to replace the OSB, there is not enough foam insulation in the wall to fill a 5 gal bucket. Had the same experience when remodeling a room above garage and opened to the rest of the house. Called USA then, they sent a guy out with a heat gun to see where we were missing insulation. Said there were no voids. Of course not, the walls are full of batting insulation and the foam did not compress the insulation as the videos and company say it will. This insulation is only good for homes with no insulation or possibly new construction. I would not recommend any one use this product in a home with the batting insulation. Our heating/cooling costs have not gone down, the noise level was down for a short time, but no just as noisy as before. One location that was opened in area where siding was removed, the foam insulation had turned to powder. I would think that they should know how much of this foam it would take to fill each wall cavity, obviously this is not the case or my house would be better insulated.
Description of Work: USA Insulation came to our home, they loosened some of the vinyl siding, drilled holes in the side walls, pumped in the foam insulatinon, replaced the siding, cleaned up behind themselves and were gone in 31/2 hours.

Our ranch stucco house was very hot in the summer and chilly in the winter even though we had a new furnace and air conditioning unit and had new windows. After researching various companies on the internet, we elected to call USA Insulation. USA Insulation-Columbus/Cincinnati/Dayton - 5411 Franklin Street, Hilliard, OH 43026. (614)529-2440. http://www.usainsulation.net/foam-insulation-Columbus/. The website provided us with videos, plenty of FAQs and resources. The experience with USA Insulation was excellent from initial contact to the crew pulling out of the driveway. The change in our living environment is remarkable plus we have the 'peace of mind' knowing the foam is fire resistant. Initially, we noticed that things seemed more quiet - the noise reduction held true for our house. There were no fumes that aggravated my asthma. The air conditioner actually turns off during summer months (it ran almost 24/7 in the past) and the house now stays cool. The furnace does not work as hard and the house stays nice and toasty - in fact, we had to readjust the programmable thermostat to a lower temperature - it was too warm in the house. Even though we have been living in our "new environment" since August of 2011 -- we still talk about what a huge difference the insulation has made in our lives and comfort. What was most amazing to us was the difference in our natural gas consumption. Here is an example: The insulation was installed in August 2011. Natural gas used Ccf's -- we realize weather and conditions play a role, but this is truly remarkable to us and even with the rising gas prices, we have saved money: January 2010 = 139 January 2011 = 131 January 2012 = 41 January 2013 = 11 February 2010 = 154 February 2011 = 63 February 2012 = 3 February 2013 = 9 March 2010 = 94 March 2011 = 48 March 2012 = 29 Our only regret is that we did not call USA Insulation years and years ago ! Any negatives with USA Insulation you may ask. Honestly, that is a difficult question. Everyone was polite, professional, eager to educate and eager to please. OK I have a negative - the drilling through the exterior of the house was loud....but I really don't think even USA Insulation can fix drilling noises but they did fix our comfort level and utility bills.
Description of Work: USA Insulation-Columbus/Cincinnati/Dayton - 5411 Franklin Street, Hilliard, OH 43026. (614)529-2440. http://www.usainsulation.net/foam-insulation-Columbus/ USA Insulation performed the following services on our property to well beyond our expectations. 1. Came to the house to answer questions, look over the property and provide an estimate. 2. Set up installation date. 3. Crew arrived ON TIME on installation day. 4. Crew drilled small holes into the stucco. 5. Premium foam was pumped into the holes and then the holes were plugged. 6. Crew then painted the plugged areas with paint that matched the house. 7. Crew also went into our basement and installed foam. 8. Clean up was performed - never would have known the crew was on the property - left property spotless.

The team was very professional and even worked right through a downpour. They didnt skimp on anything and they even cleaned up the yard when they were finished. I really feel that I got my money's worth from this company. I did notice that the house smelled like burnt plastic for about a day afterward, which was the foam curing in the walls. But since they've been here, I have noticed the house is warmer, I dont feel any drafts anymore, and even the wind is quieter. Its only been a couple weeks since they've been here, but I already notice that I'm using less propane.
Description of Work: I have a 3000 sq ft Cape Cod home in the country that was built in 2001. The home is not that old, however I was noticing drafts and our furnace could not keep when it was below 10 degrees outside. USA Insulation pumped foam in all of my exterior walls, as well as blew insualtion in all of the attic spaces, which consisted of crawling through numerous access doors to get to 5 different attic spaces.

After our initial estimate we had further questions. The President of the Company came out and answered all of questions in detail. They were able to schedule the work very quickly. We met with the president on a Tuesday and the work was scheduled for Thursday, just 2 days later. Dean and his crew were very prompt on Thursday. He explained each step along the way in a professional and friendly manner. The crew work non stop and was able to complete the job in one day. We received a follow-up phone call Thursday night at which time I let them know a couple of holes in the brick had been missed in spackling. Dean promptly came back to our home, apologized for missing them and completed the job! Clean -up was done each step of the way. We found the people working for this company to be friendly, courteous and professional. At this time it is too early to see the effect on our heating bills but we are hoping for the best.
Description of Work: USA insulation insulated all exterior walls of our 2 story home with Foam r19 insulation . Our home has vinyl siding with a brick facia in the front. They removed the siding and drilled holes in the walls and sprayed in the foam insulation. They also drilled holes in the brick facia and sprayed in the foam insulation in the facia. They completed the walls by filling all holes. USA insulation also insulated 2 seperate attic spaces by blowing r40 fiberglass insulation. They also pulled old batting out of an area where we were experiencing a leak, found the cause of the leak, fixed the leak and replaced the insulation and dry wall.

I would recommend USA insulation . We were explained in detail by their rep how they install the insulation . Verna was the person in the office that handled our financing made sure to find the correct payment plan for our budget. The installers took a day to complete the process and were professional. The best part is so far out heating bill has been only $30.00. This has been a great investment in our home. I have no doubt that this would add value to the home if we ever decide to sell.
Description of Work: USA insulated not only the outside walls, attic and the basement walls. This process took a day. They had to remove one stip on siding and drill holes. They also drilled a hole in the cynder block walls in the basement to insulted those walls. The attic was also insulated. The attic is now about 10 degrees warmer.

USA Insulation insulated my brick on brick home in Bexley several years ago. I had only 3/4 inch of space - at the time I wasn't too sure if i would notice results. I was tired of my house being so cold. I called them after seeing one of their TV ads about saving on my utility bills and keeping my home warmer. I called and early in the week and the sales rep was out within 2 days. I had already received a couple of other estimates from other companies, so I decided on USA and they were able to schedule the job for only a week later. It was already winter, so I wanted to get the work done as soon as possible. It was cold the day the guys came out, but not bitterly cold. They did the entire job in less than a day. I was able to work from home and barely knew they were there because they do most everything from the outside. I had a great experience from start to finish. They were on time, efficient, and most importantly did a great job. I have both brick and siding on my home and you can't even tell where they inserted the foam. (Which is a good thing). Inside, I noticed that my home was warmer and also quieter. My gas bill was significantly lower after having this done. I am picky about who works on my house and I was very pleased with USA Insulation.

When they came to my house for the quote, I remember the rep saying he guaranteed that any insulation that I added to the walls would help (I'd already done the attic myself) . I discussed with him that I didn't think there was much space behind the brick to be filled. Yet he still verbally guaranteed I would recoup the cost in my utility bill savings over time. The company was advertising at that time that comfort and savings are guaranteed. Note: this is NOT a guarantee in writing !!! In fact there is NO such guarantee. He used the analogy that it was like the thin cardboard wraps they put around a coffee cup so you can hold it without getting burned. Well, it didn't hit me until much later, that those cardboard wraps do NOT keep the coffee warm. Same thing applied to my house. Their insulation was the thin cardboard wrap around my "coffee cup" house. But that's hind site now. At the time, I had found one article that said if you don't have several inches of space between the brick and walls, the R value is not high enough, and it won't do any good, like the cardboard around the coffee cup. But I unfortunately ignored that one article. I was so excited, because he had promised me that anything I put in there would help. And he kept using the "guarantee" word. (What a shmuck.) And my walls were (and still are) soooo cold in the winter. So I went for it. The installation process went fine. It was a very cold day when they did the work. In hind site, I don't know if that caused a problem. But they didn't have an issue doing it that day. The workers were a bit late, but worked efficiently and politely and were very cordial. About halfway through they were getting worried they were going to be late for their next job that same day, which disturbed me a bit, because they were trying to hurry. I could hear the insulation going into the walls. And it occasionally came through an outlet, which had to be cleaned out. So there was definitely foam injected in there. They were done in a few hours. They cleaned up nicely. I was intrigued by what they had put into my walls, and asked if they would leave a bit of it in a box for me, which they did. Guess what? That insulation they left me ended up shrinking over time, which I'm sure has happened in my walls as well !!! My walls are just as cold as ever. There was never any improvement at all. And now, in the summer, I have a harder time cooling the house as well. The a/c runs 16 hours a day in the dead of summer. There have never ever been any savings in my utility bill. I will never ever recoup a penny of the cost of the insulation from that. I expressed my dissatisfaction to USA Insulation in March 2007, and asked for that guarantee. The company ignored me until I asked the BBB to lobby my complaint. Eventually, I was given a partial refund, with BBB's intercession. But what a waste, for the rest of a BIG chunk of change ! Sadly, the BBB didn't care at all that USA Insulation / Columbus is using false advertisements and giving verbal guarantees that are not real. The BBB wouldn't tell me what the other complaints were against USA Insulation. They would only say they'd been resolved.... probably the same way they resolved my case. So I'm very happy now, to be able to tell people to beware of them !! Obviously this insulation process has worked for a few people out there. So I can't tell you it won't work for you. I can tell you that if you don't have several inches of space for the insulation, don't do it !!! This was a very expensive buyer beware lesson I learned. If I can save others from wasting their hard earned money, I will be happy. They are without morals and cannot be trusted to give accurate advice. I am now quite worried that there could be mold growing on that insulation. I'm stuck with a "lemon" in my walls, with no way to make lemonade from it, and no way to easily look into it. I really wish the other folks who submitted their evaluations immediately after the work was done would add an updated review to say if their walls are still cold and note whether they saved anything on their utility bills. IE, if they no longer deserve the high rating they have, it should be changed, accordingly. Buyer Beware of USA Insulation / Columbus !!!
Description of Work: They injected foam "insulation" into the 1 inch space between the brick and the plaster walls of my house. (I have one of those lovely 1958 brick homes, with no insulation and very little space in the walls in which to put insulation. The air in the small space is supposed to act as insulation. ) They drilled holes in the mortar joints of the brick from the outside, every few feet, and injected foam into each hole. Afterwards, they refilled all the holes with mortar that matches the existing mortar, so they are mostly inconspicuous. It went in as a liquid/ gel, then it hardens / cures over time, and is not supposed to shrink.

USA Insulation came to my house on Tuesday 9/11 to give me a quote on putting foam insulation in my home. My house was built in 1926 and had absolutely no insulation in the outside walls. The house had the original dutch clapboard siding, with wood shakes installed on top of that. In the early 90's, just after purchasing my home, I had vinyl siding installed. Even though my house had 3 layers on the outside, the walls were cold to the touch during the winter months. They arrived at 9am. Installed scaffolding around the house (2 stories), and pulled a row of vinyl siding from the first floor and the second floor all around the house. They pumped in the foam insulation, plugged the holes, re-installed the siding, and cleaned up by around 1:00 pm. They also added fiberglass insulation into the spaces between the floor joists where they meet the foundation in the basement. I've always noticed air moving thru these and the basement was always chilly. After they were done, we did a walk around the house to inspect their work, before I signed off on the job. The 3-man team were polite, thorough, and professional. They cleaned up around the house and the yard from any errant foam and trash. I am hoping the house will be warmer this winter. I'll update my report at a later date and let you know.
Description of Work: They installed foam insulation in my 1926 home. They also added fiberglass insulation in the basement where the foundation meets the house framing. They packed this insulation into each opening between the floor joists.

Initially not well because walls in 5 of the 8 rooms of my house had the drywall bulging and pulling away from the studs. It was a real hassle, but I have to credit Steve the owner with having everything repaired and painted. It took a number of visits over several weeks for a drywall guy and our lead installer Justin to cut out the damaged drywall, shave out the excess foam and replace the drywall. Then Justin made several trips to paint the walls which he did an excellent job in doing so. Justin is first class and if you happen to get him then feel confident that this guy will go out of his way to make things right. This company stood behind their work and never once tried to get out of taking care of the damage even though they probably only broke even after having to pay for a drywall guy and Justin to keep coming back. Can't say for sure if the insulation has really helped with our heating and cooling. Only time will tell for sure.
Description of Work: Sprayed Foam Insulation into my homes walls and blew in 16" of insulation into my Attic after removing old insulation.

I ended up insulating the floor below the master bathroom because it was always cold in there. I installed R30 insulation in the floor for about $100 and now have a much warmer bathroom. The foaming part isn't something I would want to do, but would be better on an older less insulated house. I would recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: They insulated the foundation of an old farmhouse on a tight crawl space plus the walls of fairly new and inulated home. The old farm house was more difficult and the insulation didn't get to all foundation walls and there is still a lot of cold air infiltration. I really wanted the floors insulated, but they said the walls are what needed to be done. In our house it was a job of drilling the block walls and filling the blocks that were open. The walls are a few degrees warmer. My biggest complaint was the amount of over spray and foam globs left on things all around the baaement. Generally it was a good job and the workers were pleasant and nice.
