I had several minor pits and blemishes in the granite counter tops Granite Transformations installed for me two years ago. I love them for their beauty and ease of care but I was concerned about these flaws. The service person at the store and I played "phone tag" for a day through no fault of either of us. Once we did connect, though, he arranged for service very quickly. The service technician arrived right at the promised time. He repaired each flaw perfectly and within about 20 minutes he was on his way out. He was very nice, polite and professional and my counter tops look great once again. And this was free! When Granite Transformations says they give a lifetime guarantee, they mean it!
Description of Work: Repaired some minor blemishes.

I talked to a representative at the Home and Garden Show and contacted the company after the show. An appointment was set for a salesperson to come out to look over the job and provide us with an estimate. The salesperson came on-time and did a great job of helping us identify an appropriate product and providing us with an estimate for doing our kitchen. We were looking for a recycled/eco-friendly product, and they had a glass surface that fit the bill perfectly. Because we had stopped to talk to them at the Home and Garden Show, they offered us a special deal--either a cash rebate or a new granite vanity top with sink and faucet, using a particular granite. We chose the latter. After signing the paper work, we paid the down payment and waited for a call to set up the appointment to have someone design a template for our cabinets. The appointment was scheduled for the person to develop the template and for the installation. He came out at the appointed time, worked very efficiently, and left with a template. Two installers showed up at the appointed time. The lead person indicated that he does not usually do installs, but that his other installers were on other jobs. They began by laying down some paper to protect the floors and removing the gas line from our cooktop, which is set into the countertop. I could overhear them struggling a bit with the gas line, but they got it unhooked. I had purchased a new sink and asked if they needed a template to cut the hole. The main installer said that he didn't. I indicated that I did not see one in the box anyway. During the day, the main installer pointed out a couple of things related to the molding on the walls next to the countertop to make sure that I was OK with how he was going to handle those situations. Toward the end of the day, he told me that he wasn't able to reinstall the gas line, because he wasn't a plumber and wasn't comfortable doing so. They also showed me a place in the bathroom where they had to install a temporary brace because the wall had been bowed. When I was told that they wouldn't be able to reinstall the gas line, I immediately called some plumbers to see if I could get someone out to do so. Since it was around 3 PM on a Friday, the earliest anyone would be able to come out was on Monday. This left us without a cooktop on a weekend when we had company coming from our of town on Saturday night. On Saturday, I installed the sink in the bathroom and got the sink for the kitchen ready to install. When I went to set the sink in the hole cut for it, I discovered that the hole was entirely too small. It wasn't even close to the right size. It had been cut so the sink would drop in, but no attention had been paid to the size it had to be for it to be secured. In other words, they hadn't bothered to check to see how big the hole was supposed to be. They really did need a template or instructions to follow and should have known that they would need one or the other. Seeking neither, they cut the hole the wrong size and left us without a sink for the weekend. The installers did come out first thing Monday morning and fixed the size of the hole. They cut the hole larger, but offered no apology for our inconvenience or compensation for the time I spent trying to figure out a way to install the sink in the hole they had cut to the wrong size. In the process of checking the size of the hole, they also dropped one of the installing clips into hole beneath the sink, which I had to spend a good amount of time looking for when I went to install the sink that afternoon. I took off work early to install the sink, so that there would be a sink available that evening, since we still had company in town. A service person had also come out during the day to reinstall the gas line. He was surprised that the installers had been comfortable disconnecting the gas line but weren't OK with reconnecting it. If they were qualified to do one of those jobs, they should have been qualified to do the other. As it turned out, they had twisted the gas line (a flexible gas line) into a jumbled mess, because they had simply turned whole assembly to remove it. They should have simply removed the nut holding it in place, holding the rest of the line in place with a second wrench to prevent it from twisting into a mess. I am fine with the final result. I am disappointed that the installers made mistakes, which inconvenienced my family and cost me time. I am even more unhappy that it doesn't seem to matter to them that they made mistakes that inconvenienced my family and cost me time. I have not received an apology from the company, much less any offer of compensation of any kind. I had thought that there would be some sort of extra effort made to insure our satisfaction--at least an apology. In fairness, they did fix their mistake with the size of the hole for the sink on the first work day after the job was complete. Unfortunately, the fact that they don't seem to care that they made the mistake or that they inconvenienced my family and me leaves me with a bad taste about the whole job. I sent an e-mail to the company on Monday expressing my unhappiness, to which I received an initial response. There may yet be an apology forthcoming, but it has been three days. If one does show up I will revise my review. The president of the company did get in touch with me and apologized. I had asked to be compensated in the amount of $150 for the time I had spent trying to get the sink to fit at least temporarily into the wrong-sized hole in the counter, the time I had to take of from work to install the sink (since I wasn't able to do it on the weekend), the meal we ate in a restaurant because we didn't have a sink or cooktop over the weekend, and the unexpected cost of having someone reconnect our gas line. He said that he would send me a check in that amount "for our inconvenience," for which I am most grateful. When all was said and done, the company responded as I had hoped they would. We remain very happy with the product Granite Transformations installed and feel that we were treated well in the end. I do not know where else I could have gone to get a countertop made from recycled glass and a backsplash made at least partially with recycled glass. While there were parts of the process that did not go well for us, I feel that the company made it right to the degree that was possible.
Description of Work: The company put a new surface over the countertop in the kitchen and the countertop on a vanity in a half bathroom.

From an overall standpoint I had a great experience with the granite transformation process. My house is 20 years old, not "high end" and the original laminate counters were beginning to separate and get that particle board meltdown under and around the sink area. Still being pretty solid I decided to go with a product that would reface the original counters vs. enduring the process of ripping up my entire kitchen for days or weeks. I gave this company a "B" on price only because it is an expensive product but I have to say if you are looking for durability and an excellent guarantee and if you can't deal with days and days of your kitchen trashed and unusable, it is well worth it. These will be my counter tops for keeps. I told the sales person I was picky about my house and they respected that. The template was perfect. The installers laid down paper and plastic to protect the cabinet surfaces and floors. They used a vac to catch the major sawdust from trimming and at the end cleaned up everything to a "T" making me a happy camper. I requested that they made an extra counter top "trivet" or "cutting board" of the counter top material (which I would recommend because it is nice to have an extra layer between the new counter and the crock pot or to chop on). The people who put the sink in (another company hired by the Granite Transformation company) left a little something to be desired but remember, I am picky. You might want to go with your own plumber for fixture re-installation. The reason I mention this is that during the sink installation (kept my old stainless steel double sink because I just like it, it's still in good shape and I am essentially a cheap person) the plumbers got a little over zealous stuffing it back in and upon inspecting the area where I saw them hit the back splash there was a small but noticeable gouge in the material which I don't think was intentional, but, Granite Transformation to the rescue. They are coming to repair it without charge. Can't ask for much more than that. The surfaces wipe up clean with a damp cloth. The process was a bit fumy but the smell was cleared out with the range hood and my air filter so if you are sensitive prepare ahead. The company was very willing to work with me on this and scheduled for March when I could have the windows open if needed. I had new counter tops (small kitchen keep in mind) in four hours including cleanup/prep time. All in all, if this product is in your price range I would recommend it.
Description of Work: They estimated work, did a template and installed counter material over existing counters.

The sales person came out and explained the entire process, showed us samples and helped us select the countertops that we wanted. Provided a quote. We scheduled a time for GT to come out and take measurements and a follow up visit from GT to install the countertops. Following those arrangements we had questions for the salesperson who would neither respond to phonecalls, nor e-mails. Calls to the main office finally got him to respond. We requested that GT provide a new kitchen sink, however a few days before the installation we got a call from a GT employee, asking whether we had purchased the sink "yet", since he needed the dimensions. Several phonecalls later, that situation was resolved. They finally came out and installed gorgeous countertops, some of the edges were not finished correctly and I am still finding piles of dust in areas that had been "protected" by plastic sheets. We did not call them back, because frankly speaking........we ran out of patience. We got a generic "thank you for your patronage, please recommend us to friends" letter...no follow up call to make ensure that our experience was satisfactory, in spite of knowing that we were very unhappy with their salesperson and subsequent mix ups. Their product is beautiful, but their customer service-not so much. I need more work done, but I am looking for other vendors, I don't think I will go back to GT.

They were very prompt in getting here. They came when they said they would come. I am not so sure I would use them again, I'd probably just go for regular granites because we've had a few issues. We were not pleased with the way they did the lighting and the wiring. Overall, we were pleased with the way the kitchen looked but we were a little disappointed. What the salesman presented and what we actually got were not the same thing. I think they are a little pricey. They've been very responsive.

We're very happy with our new countertops, backsplash and sink. They look great and really upgraded the look of the kitchen. The price was higher than I thought it would be -- $3,900 for a not-huge kitchen seems steep -- but let's be honest: you're paying for the fact that your existing counters don't have to be torn out and replaced. I wasn't thrilled with the sales consultation; it just seemed a little too car salesmen-like to me. But the bottom line for me is that the quality of the new counters is excellent, and the whole process was completed very quickly, with almost no mess. We received a new under-mount sink as part of our purchase, which was very nice, and elected to buy a new faucet as well to complement the new counters. The plumber who did the work did a great job, and the kitchen really does look fantastic. I would absolutely recommend Granite Transformations to others, and I'd use them again.

It turned out perfect. They came out and gave us two estimates; one was with a backsplash and one without the backsplash. We went with the one without the backsplash and that was no problem. They set up the measure and the install day for us right away, because they knew we were in a hurry. They set up the installation and template making right away because they knew we were in a hurry. They got it done in four weeks. We would use them again.

Granite Transformation was going to charge $3,665 for the counter-top and back splash - (that this did not include the sink, faucet, etc., which were additional charges). It is to be noted that the material they used was like a pressed granite material. I got an estimate from another store that furnished and installed real granite. Their estimate for the counter-top and back splash was $2,189. I decided to go with the second store because they were installing the real granite and for a cheaper price.

The job went very well from start to finish. We were very pleased with the professionalism and quality of work; from the very beginning the planning and estimating the work. They were here when they said they would be and the job was finished when they said it would be. The estimator knew his product and was helpful in picking the color and pattern for our specific kitchen. The installers were very professional in their work and did their work without loud music or unnecessay conversations. It was a pleasure to have them in our home while doing their work. We would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to have this type of remodeling done.

Description of Work: The countertop resurfacing is outstanding, exceeded our expectations. A year later it is still just like new. The kitchen cabinet refacing was done by a subcontractor & his crew. The manager was great, however his crew was unprofessional and did only an average job, however when I called to complain, the manager came back with his crew & worked all day to correct the problems. The new sink was also installed with a subcontractor, who was very professional and did a great job.

Granite Transformations did a very nice job in and out. We liked the idea of not having your kitchen torn up and they could do it in a day. So they came out and made templates first. They came out and totally laid out everything. Then they went back to their factory and made it. And then they brought it back out and installed it. The people they sent out were very professional - from the person that came out and actually did the initial sales call, that showed me all the different types of marble they had, to the installers and then the installer crew. They sent out a guy that did the templates - he was very nice too. So it was all very professionally done. It looks great.

They were fantastic. They were very professional and clean. There was no mess throughout the project and cleaned up nicely. They were able to install everything within 1 day.

The salesman, and template maker were on on time and professional. The contract we signed stated there would be a $75.00 fee if the countertops were not cleared at time of template or under sink and countertops at time of installation. Also a $500.00 cancellation fee within 7 days either template or installation. Which led me to believe this was a professionaly run company and they would do professional work. Then the nightmare began. The day before install we were contacted to let us know the crew would be here between 8 and 9 am and to please make sure counter tops and under sinks are cleared. At 8:15 am we were called to say they were running late a couple hours, they had a couple pieces they had to finish. At 1 pm still no crew and no more calls. I called the office they said they didn't know and would get a hold of the crew and call back , ( which they did promptly) said they were on another job and it would be another hour and a half. At 2:30pm the crew call, they are finally on the way. At 3 pm they arrive and start the install. 4 guys show up and start laying paper in the kitchen ,nothing in the bath or hallways and start tearing out the sinks. By 3:15 2 guys leave and say more are on the way. No more show up. When they take out the kitchen sink the water at the shut off does not completely shut off. Instead of letting me know or shutting the water off at the main they put rags around the leak, so that the water ran through the floor and into my basement for hours. If I hadn't looked under the sink after they left I would have had a hugh mess. They say you just have to clear under sinks and counter tops but you should prep like a demo. Since they did not lay paper in the hall to the kitchen or bath and carry dripping sinks mortar and trash through the house. Also the dust from sawing the old countertops goes everywhere and ends up in cabinets and drawers. If they had told me up front I would have prepped for these things. I have dings in the walls, stove and hardwood floors, they did not cosmetically caulk the kitchen sink 1 of my kitchen counter tops did not match the others, I have caulk on my bathroom rug that had to be cut out and they did not sweep up in the driveway. When I let them know about these things they apologised and said they would caulk the sink, replace the countertop and make me a cutting board for my troubles. They did all of those things. On a positive note the plumber they used was a delight. He showed up on time, fixed my leaky valves and made sure there was nothing else before he left. I also love my new countertops and sinks.

Our kitchen remodeling project went incredibly well; it was completed on time; and we are extremely satisfied with the results. Granite Transformations is a very professional kitchen remodeling firm with excellent leadership. The Production Manager, Brent Shelton, met with us in the showroom prior to the start of the construction phase, so that we would all have the same expectations for the project. Brent also came out early on while the work was being performed in order to give some guidance to the two-man crew and, then, after the construction was done, he came to our house the next day to answer our questions and do some final touch-up work around the edges. The Production Manager, Brent Shelton, is the quintessential remodeling professional as he is extremely knowledgeable and goes way out of his way to satisfy customer expectations. His experience and dedication to quality work, along with the quality product that GT provides, are the reasons we are totally satisfied with the outcome.

They were very punctual each day. Once they were here they remained focused and worked hard. They were professional and responsive to questions. The original countertops were from the late 1960's, and the new work looks great. This was much easier than having original counters totally removed and the finished product is very well done.
Description of Work: New countertops were installed in kitchen, half bath and two bathrooms. New sinks and faucets were also installed. There were a few glitches and hiccups during the install but John F. and his install team made sure were were totally happy with end result. And we were. This is a great product. On normal countertops is it a one day intall. No cleaning out dtrawers or cabinetes. The Granite Transformation franchise in Columbus is expandeding into the KY area. They have a showroon in Lexington. Manufacture of the countertops is being done in Columbus to maintain quality control. We are very happy with this company and their products. We had them do countertops, firplace and bathroon counters to our home in California. We were very happy with that installation also.

I heard many good reviews of Granite Transformations from friends. My kitchen is about 16 years old with the original cabinets and counters from the builder. I researched cabinet replacement, refacing and also granite counters. I originally investigated Granite Transformations just to replace my countertops but was surprised to learn they also do cabinet refacing. I set up an appointment and Granite Transformations came to give me an estimate. The salesman was extremely knowledgeable about the entire process. He brought samples to my house of all colors of counters, both granite and trend stone. He also brought the doors for all colors of cabinets which helped as I picked out the counter color. I also replaced the sink with an undermounted sink and new faucet. I had a designer with me to review the products and to help me make decisions on colors. I had planned on selecting granite, but after seeing the beautiful trend stone counters, I chose that in the cosmic brown color. I selected off white cabinet refacing with oil rubbed bronze knobs. The designer and I both felt the price was very fair for the cabinets, under mounted sink, faucet and the countertops. I didn't like the mosaic back splash, so I decided to have the backsplash done using my own contractor. I set up the dates for the cabinet refacing and the counter work. The cabinets were completed in three days time with a crew of two men. The cabinet guys were very professional and nice and completed the work in a high quality fashion. The counters were installed the following day in a half day. A plumber came the 5th day to hook up the sink and garbage disposal. I was extremely pleased with all the work and with the men that performed the work. Very professional all the way around! I would definitely recommend Granite Transformations to anyone. My kitchen looks totally different and everyone has been impressed with their work. Very happy!
Description of Work: Granite Transformations performed cabinet refacing, replaced my counter tops, sink and faucet.
