Granite Transformations

Mr. Jose Marinak, native of Brazil, was the worker from Granite Transformations (with his assistant) who most damage cause in my house (very unprofessional), but I understand until certain point his behavior, the week he was working in my kitchen he was very anxious to leave the job, he told my mother he was very happy to leave the company immediately he finished what he was doing in my house. That says a lot of Granite Transformations management. It is a shame Granite Transformations did not finish the job in my kitchen, but instead of have people from that company in my house, I preferred they let the job as it was, and lost a big part of what I paid to them ($18,500.00). They overcharge me for reface my cabinets and counters, and install new floor that I bought separately. They let me all the damage and unfinished job like not seal very well the counters and some parts of the floor; they did not installed part of the backsplash; they did not install the Lazy Susan-half moon corner, took the shelf from that “Blind Corner” they were supposed to install the Lazy Susan, and they did not installed the door there either, and a handle on two of the drawers. They damaged my walls corners, let pieces of cement stuck on the floor, let big pieces of working materials on my air vents, white stains on my grass and driveway, scratch my new refrigerator and dent the old one, let nails on my garage and damaged one of my car tires, took without permission my old sink, faucet and disposer, and charge me twice one of my scheduled payments, etc., etc. In total they did not honor the contract, but I do not want to talk with anybody from Granite Transformation anymore. Great alternative to granite. Recycled material, easy installation, water cleanup, no sealing. Recommended for those seeking eco friendly material.

Granite Transformations product workmanship and installation are poor at best. Granite Transformations operates using unethical and questionable business practices. Below is a high level summary of my experiences with Granite Transformations. 1. Uneven counter top which did not align with the stove and counter top on the opposite side of the stove. The oven door hit the counter top when opening and closing. 2. Scraps from cutting the edges of the original counter tops were left next to and behind refrigerator. 3. Cabinets littered with sawdust. 4. Counters shimmed with popsicle sticks to level them prior to the granite tops being glued. Shims should have been used, not popsicle sticks. 5. Counter top was not re-screwed to the cabinets where it had been shimmed. 6. The finish on the end of the cabinets were damaged. 7. Sink not properly caulked. 8. Chip out of the counter top. 9. Underneath of counter top overlay was not finished completely. Not smooth and clean. The mess left by the installers took 2.5 hours to clean up. As a resolution, I initially requested Granite Transformations fix the issues and refund 20% of my purchase price. They refused both verbally and in writing. I promptly disputed the charges with my credit card company, filed a complaint with the BBB and filed a complaint with the Ohio State Attorney General. After haggling with me, Granite transformations offered to do what I originally asked, fix the issues and refund 20% of my purchase price. At this point I was no longer willing to negotiate with them or support a business with questionable business practices, so I requested they remove their product from my home and provide a full refund. Instead of Granite Transformations working with me to resolve the issue and my concern amicably and investing in having a fully satisfied customer, they invested their time and money in their legal counsel to dispute my filings and get my complaints removed from the BBB site and Attorney General and then refused to provide me with a partial refund even after agreeing to do so. Searching the BBB site returns a complaint filed on 10/19/2016 for Problems with Product/Service and the details read “Complaint Details Unavailable”. My complaint was factual and legitimate. If you are considering Granite Transformations I would strongly recommend reconsidering your options and avoid this company. It went great! Very professional work. The two men that came to install everything were very good. They worked non stop, all day to complete the project. My kitchen looks beautiful!

The entire process with Granite Transformations was superb from start to finish. After the initial visit when we put down the down payment money, one week later the template appointment took place to measure all surfaces. Then, three weeks later the new installation was done. The installers completed everything in under five hours that day and were careful in all steps. Jose and his crew explained the entire process to us, put down paper to cover the wood floors so no damage was done to the floors and then cleaned up after all the work was done. The new counter-tops look amazing. The old laminate counter-tops dated the kitchen so much and now it looks modern and new. The copper mosaic back splash is absolutely stunning, but we noticed after they left on the installation day that there were no green accent tiles in the copper back splash as was shown on the samples we looked at the day we signed with them. I called GT the next day on a Sat and was pleasantly surprised to get a return call from John the owner within 30 minutes. He apologized and told me he would send a rep out the next week to allow us to pick out green accent tiles and then would schedule installation of them. They explained that the tile manufacturer in Italy had apparently discontinued the green accent tiles on that particular design. One week later we selected the green tiles to match the copper mosaic back splash and three weeks later Willie and Chris came and installed dozens of accent tiles (1 x 1 size) on the back splash in three hours. I truly appreciate the effort for them to make my back splash right. The finished products are exactly what I expected and have made our kitchen look stunning! I would not hesitate to work this company in the future or to recommend them to others.

John-Marc and Heather worked to deliver a quality product and installation in my tight time frame. The installation was done in a very professional manner and looks awesome. Adds a very modern touch to a 50 year old house.

They were great to work with and did a fantastic job. Other contractors that have come in to complete other portions of our basement finishing have all remarked on the beautiful shower with NO GROUT. We did a lot of non-standard things and they adapted to our needs without reservations and did a terrific job. If we were to start another project we would go right back to John and his staff to help us out.

They did a great job. I was very pleased with their work and they were easy to work with.

From the first sales appointment through the installation, they were courteous, professional, respectful, and all-around awesome. The installation went quicker than planned and they left my home just as it was before they arrived. The countertops are beautiful and functional and you would never know that it was an overlay and not solid. They also tore out our old sink and installed a new one beautifully. Aside from being a small tad on the pricey side I would say that the experience could not have been better. But honestly, it was worth it for the expedience, outstanding product (beautiful and eco-friendly recycled glass), and gorgeous new look to our kitchen. I would absolutely recommend Granite Transformations. Update: We noticed an issue a little while ago with our countertops warping. Our peninsula in particular was bowing and separating from the cabinets beneath. I called Granite Transformations and they diagnosed the problem (which I feel should have been noted before installation occurred). For whatever reason there was a missing support board under the countertop in the middle, so the weight of the new countertop was causing it to bow. Even though I was irritated that this hadn't been identified before the installation, Granite Transformations was eager to fix it for no cost and in a timely manner. We remain highly satisfied with Granite Transformations.

Demolition and rebuiliding of the hall bath went fine. Replacement of the vanities was okay; some damage to the door trim due to lack of taking the trim off prior to trying to place the vanity in the bathroom. Rebuilding of the master bath was a trainwreck. The franchise was fairly new to the area in 2009. The material is quite interesting and attractive and has some green qualities that I was looking for. The initial visit and sales pitch as well as initial drawings were all fine. The job started on time but there was a discrepancy between the understanding of what I wanted vs the dimensions on the actual drawings. A shower seat was placed but the new walk in shower was shorter that what I requested. The seat had to be rebuilt as since it was my oversight, in not measuring the distance myself, I was told that I would have to pay the difference for material costs (additional $2500). I was fine with it and the additional projected timeframe. The goal was to complete the job within 6 weeks as opposed to the 2 week time frame that I was originally given. Again, it was my error and I was fine with the delay as they were able to complete the hall bath within the 2 week time frame so that it was useable for our family. A new seat was constructed but the previously poured shower pan was not replaced. The rest of the project took 3 months to complete, well beyond the 6 week estimate. 3 months after completion, the master bath shower leaked, resulting in damage to the ceiling in our family room which is located directly below the master bathroom. I contacted GT who sent someone out to explore the leak. He cut a hole in the ceiling, found the area dry to the touch, tried to recreate the leak but could not and caulked the whole shower. 6 months later, the same thing happened. Again, I contacted GT and they sent someone out to examine the issue. They cut an additional hole in the ceiling and recaulked the shower again. I was told that they would come to repair the hole in the ceiling. To date, this has never happened. 2 years after my first experience, I contacted GT to replace the vanities in 2 smaller bathrooms and the workmen were joking that they were surprised that I contacted them again since they assumed, somewhat correctly, that I was not a fan of their previous work. They did complete the vanity replacements without too much hassle and did so in a timely manner. My goal was to have matching countertops in the 3 bathrooms thus the desire to use the same material. I asked the workmen at the time if they could contact the person who did the ceiling repairs and they indicated that "he was the glue that held the company together" and now busy with the expansions of the franchise. I never heard from the company again. The shower leaked, yet again, between 2012 and 2014. I recaulked the shower myself every 6-9 months. I decided to contact a different company to rebuild the shower in the MBR. During demolition, they discovered (and showed me) that the shower seat and the poured shower pan had a 2-3 inch gap between them and that significant water damage had taken place in the flooring beneath the shower. This was the actual cause of the leak and was due to the shift in the seat location, which was my request, but the decision to not replace or repour the shower pan was a decision in which I was not included. In addition, during the recent rebuild, it was found that the shower drainpan was not sloped correctly, the drain itself was not angled correctly and the flooring was a mishmash of several pieces of wood pieced together and attached to the subfloor. $12800 later, I have a fully functioning walk in shower and no leaks in my family room ceiling. I will not use GT again, despite the fact that I still like the material and the personnel were individually helpful and polite. As a beginning franchise, they may have bitten off more than they could chew. I was told, at the time, that I was one of their larger jobs and that they were very excited about the opportunity.

All work was done to our satisfaction. Company was very pleasant to work with. Installers were skilled and professional. The final product and appearance is spectacular! Very pleased with everything.

They were very professional and answered all my questions. Always on time and cleaned up all debris. Had a great variety of choices. Would definitely recommend.

It was the best experience I've had with a contractor to date! I even changed my mind on a color midway in the process. They showed up when they said, finished when they said. Everything was correct and as ordered. Workers were knowledgeable, efficient, cleaned up when done. I loved the product and color choices.

It was reasonable for what we got. They were very considerate. The guy who came out to help out with the colors of the tiles is very nice and knowledgeable. The workers are very polite, very quick and they were quiet which is very amazing. They did a beautiful job.

The service makes this company worth using! We had them remodel our shower and it looks awesome first of all but (hey we picked awesome colors). Anyway to what we should talk about we had the grouting crack and a little water got behind the wall so we called them and 2 days later they came and looked at it and said that's not right and scheduled a couple days to completely redo the shower to ensure not only that section but to ensure there's no mold etc. Awesome service!!!!! And lets face it anyone can do work but only quality companies will stand behind what they do

a few weeks later. The installers allowed me to inspect the pieces before installing and they were perfect. The old ones were removed and new ones installed. The surround looks exactly like I thought it would, and I was very grateful for their attention to this.

Very professional. Arrived on time on date and time agreed upon. There is a $500 charge to the home owner if no one is not at the home during the template or installation phase as scheduled. They did a beautiful job and were very courteous during the installation. Went out of their way to make sure I knew what they were doing regarding noise. Protected floor and kept dust to a minimum. The glue does smell bad after they are done so you need to make sure you can air out your house. The cost was a little more than I thought since it is not granite, but you do not need to seal and it does not stain. Also, downtime was only 12 hours. It only to them 2 hours to install and 12 hours to set.

The sales rep was very helpful and informative and fair. She took as much time as we needed to make a decision. The cost was split into 3 payments. Initial down payment, second payment when they came to make the counter templates and the final payment upon installation. All the employees were fantastic, they took great care in my home and did an outstanding job. The finished product is beautiful. I can provide before and after pictures if desired.

Granite Transformations seems like an excellent franchise here in Columbus, Ohio! This is our first time dealing with this company. We can not say enough about the wonderful work Jose Marinhak, one of their employees, did for us . He is a citizen here and a perfect craftsman. Prompt, professional, courteous, diligent worker. He and his helper did a fantastic job! Take heed Granite Transformations, if all your employees were like Jose...you would have a perfect install staff! Also the Jillian Robinson, one of the sales personal, was such a delight! Very professional and knowledgeable! We will indeed use this company in the future.

I know that they reorganized a bit. They used to do something outsourced to people that were good. But the coordination was more difficult I think of what I have heard it is now. They have a licensed plumber that is not part of the company. He has a resurfacing guy that is not part of the company. They were doing all their granite work. They did a third in-house. They had contractors that were good but getting people to do things in the right order was more of a challenge. Now they handle all their resurfacing and the granite work and I heard they even have their own in-house plumber. I will say that their pricing was good. Anybody that uses Granite Transformation be sure you have Jose do the granite work. He is a citizen and he is a meticulous measure-er. Jose is the strength of that company. If you don't have Jose do it you are rolling the dice. Jose did the counter, the back-splash, the measurements, the craftsmanship was outstanding. Their pricing was a little more than one room and we wound up getting two. Kitchen and master bathroom. It's real granite. It's a little different technology. They did a good job. They did a nice job.

The installers were very punctual and courteous. They performed the work in a timely manner and made sure we were satisfied before leaving. They cleaned up and asked if there were any questions.

From beginning to end everything went smoothly. The consultant came out and showed us samples, explained the process and wrote up the contract. The next appointment was for the template creation. This went off without a hitch. The material was ordered and when the counters were ready for installation another appointment was set. The installers arrived promptly and began the work. When the installation was complete they let the plumber know and he called that evening and set up a time for the following day. He also arrived promptly and hooked up the sink. Overall, we were very impressed with the professionalism and organization of the company.

The associates with GRANITE TRANSFORMATIONS were professional and completed the job a couple hours earlier then planned. We are very are pleased with the color selection that we picked out for our counter tops and backsplash. Our kitchen is a topic of conversation when we have people over.
