They did an excellent job. I will hire them again, and I will recommend them. The supervisor was Morgan, and he was very courteous. They came out, and got the job done in one day. They worked very hard. They did a very good job. There were in the ballpark. They did a great work.

The original start date was moved a couple of times due to the very wet spring we had. This was no problem. Once they got started they finished in about 4 days. The people sent to work on the project were very professional and friendly. The sales person came by a couple of times during the project to check on things. We are very happy with the finished product.
Description of Work: They repaired sunken areas and the edging in an old paver patio. They also added on the the patio, put in 2 seating walls and added a paver sidewalk to a recently added garage. They planted or replanted approx. 14 shrubs and made beds for them. They tapered the lawn area away from the sidewalk and patio and planted grass seed.

We have worked with this landscaping company two summers in a row now. We have found them to be very professional, very quick, and extremely easy to work with. They clean up after themselves each day, and they do an awesome job. It rains a lot in our area, and they worked right through the adverse weather conditions without complaint. When it had to be done, they were very good about rescheduling the work.
Description of Work: They landscaped our back yard, installing walking paths, new trees, and perennials. They were also able to extend our existing patio.

They did very well, and we are pleased with the work that they did. One of the best things about them is that they were willing to use some of the things and materials we already had, which saved us money on the overall price. They showed up when they said they were going to. The owner also personally came back when the job was done to make sure everything was done right. They also cleaned up after themselves, which was a major plus.
Description of Work: They refurbished my patio, which was in need of repair. They also did some landscaping, edging our beds, and also rebuilt a retaining wall for us.

Matt returned our call promptly and set up an appointment to give an estimate. He arrived on time and worked with us to understand our specifications, offering his expertise as well. He went out of his way to accommodate our schedule. The crew of 2 men worked extremely hard and did a perfect job, building two beautiful walls in one day, following our layout, and asking for clarification and offering suggestions about exactly how to do the work (such as when to transition from 4 stones high to 3 to 2) when needed. They also laid a number of large stones to form a flat area (like a small patio), and went above and beyond to help place another very large stone for us. They were both friendly and professional. They cleaned up carefully and made sure we were very happy with the work before they left. Matt followed up personally with a phone call to make sure we were satisfied. I would hire 9 Trees again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: The 9 Trees crew was excellent, building two semi-circular retaining walls out of stone and laying other stones as pavers to make a small flat area (like a small patio).

My experience with 9 Trees was extremely positive. Matt Forchione and his crew are a pleasure to work with and I really felt a genuine sense they wanted to meet and exceed my expectations. The design process of the patio itself was went smooth and flow was easy to understand with Matt being open to requested revisions. Along the way Matt suggested some changes of his own to make the engineering of the patio stronger as well as a few neat little items that I hadn't thought about. The build process was tight and on schedule despite some poor weather. His crew showed up on time and worked throughout the day. The end product was a fantastic paver that receives numerous compliments, even from other contractors who I've had in to do other work on my property. I'm the type of person who scrutinizes choices and details before picking a company and I can say without hesitation, 9 Trees is a company I'd do business with again. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: I had a paver patio installed as well as surrounding landscape in my backyard. Features included a 2 tiered patio, seat wall with flanking columns, firepit and 3 exit points including two that were lined with flagstone. Later, I had 9 Trees spruce up my front yard with new plantings and rock/boulder outcroppings.

9 Trees did a terrific job for us. Matt was very responsive to emails and any questions I had. Seth the project manager went above what I expected. Fixed a few things that I was not aware of and did an amazing job putting in our new patio and arbor. It looks beautiful and we get many compliments on the work. I would not hesitate in using 9 Trees again.

It was a pleasure to do business at the Member's residence. Our project manager was please to work so close to home, he also lives in Grandview not far from this site. We did dent one of thier window sills. Subsequently we called Rosati and had them come to repair about a week after the finished project. We also had a delay in the final fence along the driveway for about a week after we were supposed to be finished. Thank you for your patience on both of those issues. Thank you for your business!

Matt gave a good price on the trees and we installed them in the Fall. In the Spring, half of the trees were leaning at an angle and we also realized that instead of killing the grass under the beds around the trees his employees just dumped mulch on top of the grass -We had long grass and weeds under all the leaning trees. We called Matt, sent him pictures and told him we needed to remedy this situation as our neighbors were complaining. He sent a crew over -- they tried to push the trees upright and left because it started to rain. We contacted Matt again and I asked him to simply come by and meet with me in person, to just see what we had to look at everyday. I let him know that if he met with me and if he really thought there was not a problem I would accept that. He refused to come to our home and would not meet with us. He said we got such a good deal on the trees that he felt he had no more responsibility. We had to contact another more reputable landscape company to come out and straighten our trees and make true beds around the trees.
Description of Work: I initially contacted 9 Trees to give me an estimate to enhance my patio and add a hardscape fireplace. Matt came and had some good ideas. I mentioned that I was also interested in some additional trees and he said he had a good connection and we could get a good price ordering trees in bulk in the fall. I decided to go with another company to do my hardscape - they had a better plan and better pricing but my husband decided to order pine trees from 9 Trees.

9 Trees was hired to install 20+/- evergreen trees in fall of 2009. I came out early Saturday morning 3-5 days before the project was to start to put flags in the ground with the member. Member did not want to be involved, this was the Member's baby. He and I spent 30 minutes and did flag installation locations. Trees were roughly 12' on center and in a staggered line down the north east property line. The crew arrived that week and dug 20 holes for the 20 trees. The crew put them in the ground and began to back fill the trees. Member then decided that she wanted to change the location of the trees and put them in a straight line. The crew agreed on a new location. We dug 12+/- new holes and moved the trees. The crew filled in the old holes and put down grass seed and Penn Mulch...aka the green stuff. It is true the soil settles in the original hole locations that were changed. It is not true that we created island beds around the trees by dumping mulch. I saw the small islands and we were not responsible for them. We "Pocket Planted" the trees, meaning they have a simple tree ring of mulch around the base. THe trees were not connected together by us. It is true that several trees were shifted over the winter, likely be the winds. 9 Trees did send a crew there to straighten. Our crews are trained to dig out the soil on one side of the tree ball and then push the tree straight and fill in te other side. We dont just "shove or yank" on trees. We also top dressed and re seeded the holes that were filled. We also were going to spray Round Up on the grass growing under the trees in the mulch beds created by someone else. It was raining and our crew is trained to know that we can not spray in the rain. So we did not spray the weeds. Member's husband sent email that the Member saw the crew come up and subsequently leave without doing anything, NOTHING. The disrespect she showed the crew from day one is why we eventually decided to end the business relationship. To not want to be involved in plpacement is fine. Digging new holes is a hard pill to swallow for the crew. I'm sure some of you have dug tree holes in this Columbus Clay. We did follow through with the project, changes included at no additional cost. The scope of work changed. We absorbed the expense to move forward. The final disrespect shown to our crew was to say "They Di Nothing" after they spent 2 hours on site hand digging and straightening trees, filling holes that were caused by her changes, and atleast being prepared to spray the grass growing from another contractor/home owners mild attempt to make island beds. We have hundreds of Thank You letters and referrals that we are very proud to hang in our office and share with clients friends and family. We post new Thank You letteres on the time clock witht he Project Managers name. It creates a bit of a competion among our field staff to see just how well they can perform on a day to day basis. 9 Trees will continue to grow and strive for excellence! Matt Forchione, President.

We were planning a graduation party on Memorial Day weekend 2010 for our youngest daughter and hadn't done much of anything with our landscaping for years. All of our landscaping beds were in need of major cleanup from the winter; several shrubs and pine trees were struggling and needed to be removed; others needed pruning; without the pine trees we would be left with little privacy between our deck and a neighbor's deck. Based on both a friend's and Angie's List recommendations, we contacted 9 Trees Landscaping the first week of April 2010. Morgan Bettinazzi from 9 Trees responded promptly. Morgan helped divide the work up into an overall clean-up portion and a new bed design portion. Within three days we had an estimate and paid a $1000 downpayment to help secure a timeframe to complete the job prior to Memorial Day weekend; however, my wife and I changed our minds several times on the new bed design portion of the job. Morgan patiently worked through several iterations of designs that would meet our needs for privacy between our neighbor's house and ours while not blocking out light flowing into our kitchen. By April 23, 9 Trees provided a new design and revised estimate. A work crew led by Zach came out to our house on May 19 and May 20 and completed the entire job. It had rained the day before, and despite the muddy conditions the crew did a fabulous job with all of the work including spending a considerable time on clean-up. During the work of removing the two struggling pine trees, they discovered an old pine tree stump in between that they also removed without additional charge. The bed and mulching work was very sharp; all of the plantings looked great; and everything was done a week ahead of our Memorial Day weekend goal. The graduation party was a great success with many positive comments about the landscaping. As a postscript to the Memorial Day Weekend event, I enjoyed the landscaping changes so much that I asked 9 Trees to do some additional plantings to further add to the newly designed beds on the back and side of the house. Morgan again worked with me to pick out some perennials that would bloom this summer and fall, and this additional work was completed June 25, 2010. The description above includes all of the work and cost incurred through June 25, 2010. We're now fully enjoying very colorful landscape beds and our neighbors also are a lot happier with the view. I couldn't be more pleased with the overall result and responsiveness of 9 Trees, just a great experience throughout.
Description of Work: Designed and completed comprehensive landscaping work around entire house including: cleaned out, spaded, and mulched all existing landscape beds; pruned bushes and trees; pulled weeds and winter debris; applied systemic and pre emergent herbicides; applied slow release ornamental fertilizer to all beds; removed two struggling pine trees and redesigned same landscaping bed 35' x 10' with mix of ornamental trees, grasses, and perennials to provide mix of color and privacy between properties (six 3 gallon Maiden Grass, two Vibernum Juddi, ten Stella D'Oro daylillies, ten Pardon Me Daylillies, three Rose of Sharon ornamental trees, 3 Tardiva hydrangaes, 2 russian sage little spires, and 2 echinacea hot papaya); extended new bed to merge with healthy pine trees to create continuous bed around the house; redesigned bed on opposite side of house (30' x 4') to accomodate 60" multistem Cornelian Cherry Dogwood, removed all existing plants and replaced with six Nepatat dropmore Catmint, 6 Salvia may night, and 5 Stargazer lilies. Topsoil, mulch, fertilizer, weed control for all new beds.

Overall, it was not our best service experience. They were to put a large stone on one side of the bed, but put it on the other side instead. When we mentioned it, they wanted to charge us again to move it, so we didn't do it. They were to remove wire baskets from trees that had previously been located in the bed (this was included in the quoted price), but recently determined that at least one wire basket was not removed. When we realized at least one basket had not been removed, we asked them to remove it this spring and make sure all other baskets had been removed (on two occasions), but they didn't come out. Finally, we had to remove it ourselves and aren't yet sure if there are others that should have been removed.

The Members worked with a salesman that left in mid May. We believe he did not forward this information to us and it was his determination weather to charge for the rock moving. This posting bothered Morgan B, we found out the situation in later June or so. I personally called the Member and met with her to be brought up to speed on the details. I do not know everything about all projects. After meeting with her in July, I offered to roto till the garden area where th wire basket was not removed and if it was didscovered to remove it. I offered to till the vegetable garden for Free of course. I also offered to move the rock that was misplaced for Free, though she declined. The offer stands to till the garden this fall. This is a repeat customer that I believe was caught in the middle of her salesperson/contact person leaving our company and information not getting to the right individuals.

We got the desired appearance of our front yard. What we had there before had sunk and generally was looking shabby. We love the look of the garden wall. Matt, the owner was very attentive to our wishes. We needed to get a variance from our Association and he was willing to work with them. The work was completed on time and looks great. Matt was very professional and a joy to work with. We would recommend his company to any of our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: 9 Trees Landscapes installed a garden wall around all of our landscaped beds in front of our home. We had some previous stone there, they took that stone out and laid it along the beds in out back yard. They worked around a previously installed irrigation system. They needed to adjust location on the sprinkler heads. They seeded places in our backyard and also reseeded any areas around new hardscapes that needed it. They cleaned up every day and in the end you couldn't tell they had been working in our yard.

They sent out two guys and a Bobcat, and completed the job in 6 days. Each evening before they left for the day, they made sure the yard was tidy (as much as possible with the type of work). They did a few things we didn't think to ask for, like raising the patio so that we don't have a step down from our screened-in porch and placing large boulders on either side of the retaining wall for aesthetics. We were amazed and how great it looked when they were done!

We started researching this project and looked at several contractors at a home & garden show in 2007. We selected two contractors in the Spring/Summer of 2008, both of which were in Angie s List, and requested designs with proposals. We started this process the first of July and after two and one half months we felt uncomfortable with their proposals. There were delays and excuses as to why requested revised plans were not submitted timely. We felt it was time to get a third proposal in hopes of moving this project forward. We reviewed Angie s List and called 9 TREES LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION, as they had some of the most favorable remarks from previous customers. The owner, Matt Forchione, came out the next day after we called and discussed the project. He listened to what we wanted and gave us constructive suggestions on how he thought it might best look. He took several digital pictures and stated he would be back to us within a week. In fact, he got back to us in less than a week. We were amazed at how detailed his plans were and that he took the flower bed and mowing pattern into consideration. The add-ons and unique design with the addition of the sitting boulders around the fire pit were a great touch as it provided aesthetics as well as functionality. He also suggested the charcoal accent sailor line for these patios as it would help pull them together as one. As a result of his favorable suggestions and what we saw in the drawing we decided to contract with them. Their proposal was competitively priced and remained within our budget despite several design adjustments. From the time we signed the contract to the start of the project was less than three weeks. On the first day of the project the project manager, Shane Rankin, reviewed the project timing and goals. Each day he took the time to inform us as to what they intended to accomplish that day. At the end of each day he made sure the work area was neat and orderly. It was clear that he was on top of this project at all times, as he would have needed materials delivered well in advance of their use. He stated to us that he hates to wait or slow down any job. His crew kept the project moving forward and little time was wasted. We were pleased that Brian, the supervisor, and Matt the owner came out to check on the project s progress. All and all we were very satisfied with the way this project was handled, start to finish. I would also add that before we signed the contract we visited their offices and construction facility. We were impressed by the neat and orderly construction site. The customer display area was very helpful in selecting appropriate materials. Their web site was up to date and was also helpful in selecting this company.
Description of Work: We had a 1500 square foot patio installed which encompassed a patio near the house with a three step entrance to the garage, patio under pergola, and extended patio to fire pit and bolder seating area. Materials used were Washington, Oberfields, Pavers, called flagstone blend. Patio was accented with a charcoal, sailor line, to compliment and tie the patios together. This was also accomplished by using a walkway of the same material that provided continuity.

9 Trees is an excellent company, and Matt is a pleasure to work with. He came out and helped us decide what would work best given our needs and our budget, with regard to the installation of a patio and landscaping. We made several changes to our initial design, and he accommodated all of these without any hassle, whatsoever. When we had trouble installing a gas line through the insert he had installed under the patio (to run from the house to a gas grill) Matt came out and helped the plumber run the gas line through the conduit. Matt also guarantees his plant material for one year, and given the dry spells we had the last couple of summers some of our plants did not survive. Matt has lived up to his guarantee and replaced the plants that failed to thrive. You will be hard pressed to find a more professional, customer friendly company! I highly recommend 9 Trees!

It went very well overall. They were timely, and their estimate was very fair. Their workmanship was excellent, they did what they were supposed to do when they were supposed to do it. They were ranked very high on the list and we felt that it was accurate.
Description of Work: They put in a new patio and did some landscaping as well.

Overall, I was very pleased with the way that the patio turned out. We had some communication issues along the way regarding the scheduling of the project and a small mix up regarding plantings that were in the original proposal but which were removed from the final design. Matt apologized for the mix ups and made everything right. The crew that worked on the project did an excellent job and took care not to dig up the surrounding grass with their machinery. They also did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. The patio looks great and this company was easy to work with.
Description of Work: Constructed 300 sq. ft. paver patio with 14 ft. seating wall & 2 window wells (around basement windows). Also added stepping stones to adjacent garden beds.

Our patio looks like it came from Home & Garden magazine or as seen on T.V. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Our neighbors have used him since he did ours. I cannot say enough good things about him. We are so very pleased with his work.
Description of Work: They did the plans. They built a brick patio with walkout and steps. They did all the landscaping with a variety of trees and plants. They installed outside lights.
