We are Ohio’s most trusted company for fiberglass pool and spa installation, pavers and hardscaping. Servicing the Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati areas. No subcontractors, ever! Let our skilled & experienced, in-house team build the backyard you’ve been dreaming of!
"We cannot say enough about the amazing staff at Advanced Backyard Solutions. After speaking with several pool contractors, all of whom either did not win our trust or they simply never got back to us, we found this incredible team. Throughout our journey towards pool ownership, we encountered many people, several bids from local pool contractors, and many disappointments. We soon came to learn that Advanced Backyard Solutions is a family-run business, and that is the essence of how they treated us from start to finish and beyond, like family. Our job was extremely difficult, a pool on a steep incline that would require terracing. Frankly, we're not sure ours was their favorite job because of the extreme challenges of the hillside terrain, the same conditions that drove other contractors away, but every one of the crew associated with Advanced Backyard Solutions should be commended for outstanding work and detailed professionalism. From the initial design and visual/conceptual renderings, to ground-breaking, construction of the retaining walls, pool delivery, concrete work, electrical work, plumbing, the retractable safety cover, and everything in-between, Advanced Backyard Solutions delivered! They even attended a tricky permitting hearing to ensure our county zoning board had all of the facts to approve our build. The result has been nothing short of stunning, picturesque, and worthy of an award. In your quest to find the best fit for your pool, retaining wall, and/or patio project, you absolutely owe it to yourself to contact the Advanced Backyard Solutions family. Ask for Jacque (pronounced "Jackie") and tell her Steve and Andrea sent you!"

"My experience with Tim Perkins started in June 2018. My inground gunite pool needed to be completely refurbished with new plaster, tile and coping. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but during contract signing at my house he took a call from a customer, which turned into a heated discussion. After the call he explained about how some customers are never happy…I should have taken that as a warning sign. The work started by emptying the pool. He duct taped sections of plastic pool hose together to make it around the house and down the driveway. Sometime after he left the job site for the night the duct tape gave way and flooded my neighbors yard. I notified Tim, but he didn’t acknowledge the issue and left it to me to apologize to my neighbor. Cracks were found in the structure so he said he wanted to bring in an expert to fix. I paid the expert, who was at the house for 20 minutes. Turns out he was just a consultant who told Tim what to do and then he left. I paid a lot of money for a 20 minute consult. During the project I kept noticing other leaks and found that they were going through my garage and helping themselves to my hand tools. I emailed my concerns to Tim and that’s when he got upset. He threatened to abandon the job if I didn’t get a better attitude. I had so much money tied up with him already, that I swallowed my pride and literally had to beg him to return. They finished the job, but the new concrete pool coping was full of air bubbles, uneven and the job site was left a mess. He promised to come back to power wash the dust they left on the patio, but that never happened. I didn’t write a review at the time because I knew if I was honest, I’d never get any warranty service. Fast forward a year later and I had a significant water leak in one of the underground supply lines for the pool. I was in the middle of getting a new concrete patio poured and the contractors couldn’t finish until I fixed the leak. I called every other pool contractor in Cincinnati and they were all booked for at least 2 months. I was under pressure from my concrete contractor, so I unfortunately reached out to Tim Perkins once again. Against my better judgement I reluctantly hired him again to re-pipe the pool because he was able to get the job done quick and keep my concrete contractor on-track. He finished the work, which required drilling through the pool wall to enlarge the size of the return jets. They had to pack new plaster around the hole, which looked messy and didn’t match up well with the original plaster. He also added new return jet eyeball fittings. It’s now Fall of 2019 and I need to close the pool. I tried to remove the eyeball fittings, but they are covered with plaster, which has them cemented/glued into place. I tried using a channel wrench, but I think they need to be chiseled out of the plaster. On October 15, 2019 I reached out to Tim and included a picture to explain the issue. He responded to my email stating: “Big piece turns it has a Male fitting into your pic inch and a half jets.p plastic out big ring to cover imperfections”. It was hard to decipher what he was saying, but as I couldn’t get the cover to turn, I wrote back explaining I needed help and wanted him to close the pool for me at a cost as it was getting late in the year and the weather was changing. He didn’t respond so I Thursday I sent a follow up email asking for his help and availability. Again I had no response so finally out of extreme frustration, I emailed him on Saturday to tell him I was taking legal action. He not only emailed me that same day, but he also called. It was now my turn to be the customer on the other end of the phone just like when I signed the original contract to refurb the pool. He told me that I never wrote him a review, so why should he jump through hoops for me. He went on to say that he’d never pay me and wanted me to grovel up to him to fix the work he messed up. At this point it was unrecoverable so I told him I’d find a real contractor to do the job right. He hung up the phone on me. As a final chapter to my experience with Perkins Pools, I wanted to finally leave the review he deserved over a year ago. I’ve read his online attacks to people who wrote bad reviews for him, so I’m sure he will repeat. As for me, I’ll never let him touch my pool again."

Everyone tells you something different. Some say your pond will be okay if your pH is between 7.0 and 8.5 … some say between 6.8 and 8.0 is the optimum level for your pond. It is confusing to anyone without a degree in chemistry. Who's right and who's wrong? What is it you really need to watch when it comes to protecting the plants and aquatic creatures in your pond? The Science of water Water is not only one of the most abundant resources on earth, it also one of the most scarce. Although it covers three quarters of the Earth's surface, only three percent is fresh water, and only one percent of that is available to us for our daily water needs. No one knows more about the importance of water than pond owners. And with the droughts that many parts of the country experience, water has been the topic of many discussions. pH and Alkalinity Let's take a moment right here and now to go back to high school chemistry and review a few things about pH levels. First of all, what are they? Well, pH is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. And if you jog your brain a bit, you may remember that the scale ranges from 0 to14, where 7 is neutral. Values less than 7 are considered acidic, and values greater than 7 are basic or alkaline. On this inverted scale model, there's a 10-fold increase between each number on the scale, meaning that a pH of 4 is 10 times as acidic as a pH of 5. According to the environmental protection agency, a pH level ranging between 6.0 and 8.5 is a good profile for any natural stream, yet time and time again, you'll see people debating levels. And each time it's different. Koi experts believe that for their fish to thrive, pH levels should not be lower than 7.0 and should remain fairly neutral. The truth is that if you are merely raising Koi as pets, your best bet is to watch their behavior to see if conditions are suitable for them. Ideal conditions for ponds range from 7.5 to 8.5, below 6.5 can be too acidic for Koi. Things Change

The average cost of an above-ground pool is between $1,100 and $5,700. Costs will vary depending on the type of pool you install. The low end of the price range includes a DIY kit for around $800 and goes up to about $15,000 for a custom pool with extra features like a deck and water features. Building an above-ground pool is much faster than installing an inground one. The cost tends to be much lower for an above-ground pool than for an inground pool because there’s less labor involved, especially when it comes to excavation and running plumbing and electrical lines.
Installing an inground pool costs around $55,000, on average. The typical price range is between $39,000 and $70,000, depending on the size and type of pool and accessibility of the site. This project requires an experienced pool installation contractor as the project usually involves extensive excavation, plumbing, electrical, concrete, and careful grading of the concrete or pavers around the pool.
Adding a spa to a pool is worth it if you use it enough. Adding a built-in spa to an inground pool can cost between $15,000 and $20,000, on top of installing the pool. A separate hot tub costs between $5,000 and $8,000. These prices will vary depending on the hot tub's size, type, and features. Additional costs include maintenance, electricity, and plumbing.
From start to finish, building an inground pool takes anywhere from two to four months. Factors that impact time to completion include any weather delays, material delays or shortages, scheduling conflicts, and any unforeseen challenges. The project may take most of the pool season, depending on where you live. Because of this, it’s a good idea to start getting estimates and finding a qualified pool company at least a year before your anticipated installation. Spring and summer is the busy season for pool contractors, which impacts their availability as projects are typically booked for several weeks if not months.
