Kicking Ash was right on time. A team of two quickly set up tarps to catch any dirt, dismantled the gas fireplace logs and cleaned them, inspected the gas valves and tested the flow of the gas. They also did an external inspection of the chimneys because I saw some discoloration on one of them. Looks like the original cap of the chimney is rusting and should be replaced. I have already hired them to fix the cap the spring when the weather is better.

Technician was very knowledgeable. He arrived on time and completed the work in a reasonable amount of time. Will have them back next year for annual inspection and cleaning.

Fine. I have been doing maintenance on my logs for several years without a professional cleaning. Apparently what I am doing is good as the contractor did not need to do very much to the logs. To say 'would not hire again' is not negative a reflection on this contractor, he performed the services as requested. I just now believe I can continue my personal yearly maintenance to keep my logs running efficiently.

Price pn Angies List was a little deceptive. Price quoted looked like I was getting cleanig for $49.95 however that was the price to hold. Actual price was $72.00 plus the $49.95. That being said they did a good job cleaning the fireplace and flu. They provided a written report via email. Did not use tarps to protect carpet or booties on shoes. Had to remind them of dirt on carpet they tracked in.

They did a great job as they swept the fireplace, helped us better understand the fireplace and what it was capable or. Advised on maintenance duties over the long-term. It was 2 younger guys and they seems adequately knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. Only issue was around the AngieList Special as it said $119 for chimney sweep. Reserve now for $41. So we thought we were buying the entire sweep for a sale/discount price of $41, but it wasn't until they arrived and informed me that even though it said that, we actually owed much more and the $40 was only for a down payment. It was tricky and sneaky business practice.

The guys did a good job and found a couple of issues that needed to be attended to right away. They were able to perform those repairs for us with a second visit a few days later.

The men were punctual for the first appointment, but the electric service in our neighborhood was interrupted. They rescheduled for the following Saturday and were timely in their arrival. The team seemed efficient and thorough. They identified several bricks in my firebox which needed replacing and gave me an assessment of the condition of the chimney.

Service man removed a couple of logs. Told me they were cracked and would have to be replaced because it was dangerous to turn on the gas with cracked logs. They vacuumed the very front of the fireplace and did nothing else. I requested that they make sure the gas would turn and they reluctantly complied. Young man kept pushing to have me go to their store to get "good" I.e.,expensive logs.

Shortly after I purchased the offer on-line, a Kicking Ash representative left a voice mail for me trying to schedule the appointment. I called back in a few days, and we scheduled the service visit for just over a week later. The two-person crew arrived on time on the scheduled date, and they got right to work. They started by laying down a tarp to collect dust from the fireplace and thereafter were busy cleaning and adjusting the gas log components. They pointed out several issues and features with the fireplace box and gas log, but they did not pressure me to purchase additional services or products. To the contrary, their advice was educational and for the long term. Both technicians were polite, organized, informative, and fun to talk to. I will consider engaging them for future maintenance.

Very well. The work was performed as described to me in an efficient manner, with appropriate cleanup performed. Follow up visit to complete a task delayed by rain occurred within fiveays.

Tried hard to make a bad system work

I guess it was okay. The fireplace hasn't been used since they worked on it. He did a fine job, but to tell you the truth, since he's been here I don't think the fireplace has been lit. Since then I haven't used it. I will this winter. It turned out well. The price was great. I would use them again if I needed them.
