Did full inspection; chimney liner too small and in process of checking, found the liner wasn’t even secured. Crew from Kicking Ash did superb job of evaluation, diagnosing problem, explaining everything clearly and providing detailed information on solution. They were polite, friendly, professional and competent. They replaced the chimney liner, fixed damper, insulated as needed and secured new liner and completed repairs on chimney on roof. Very complete and each step explained. While I really appreciated their competence and expertise, what was even more important to me was their honesty, commitment to quality work, high standards and comprehensiveness of services. This was the best service I have ever had through an Angie’s List service, I would strongly support their service and urge working with them.

When we went to the store, the owner Jeremy took time to meet with us. He was very knowledgeable and explained our options. We then took some time to research what we wanted to do since we have an older home and we wanted the new fireplace doors and gas logs to fit in with the rest of the house. Once we decided, Jeremy came to the house to give us an estimate and we contracted with him to do the work. When Jeremy and his crew came to do the install, they did a great job. They were conscientious doing the work and were careful to keep everything clean in our living room. We're very happy with the service and the final product!

First off - these folks have a terrible "answering service" most times no one is at the phone. I had an appointment first time and when I called to check they said they had to cancel due to other tied up work. I understood that. When they finally did arrive another day two employees were waiting in the driveway for their supervisor. The employees were fine. The supervisor was unwilling respond to anything about the unit without me asking for a response - I did finally request was why he noted a supposed concern on one item. Frankly, the attitude for a service provider was less than friendly and responsive. A bit of being cordial and interested in the work and the client would be expected. It left me with little if any confidence in their inspection report.

Did a very good job. Chad was very professional, explained exactly what they were doing and why. Showed me how things were working properly and areas of concerns, also suggested remedies to the issues. Never thought of having my dryer vent cleaned until he mentioned their services. Thankfully I had my vent cleaned, it was very clogged and dirty. Good service and professional.

They did a good job in making the fire place work again

These guys should be avoided. After they removed some trapped air in the fireplace gas line, they got my gas fireplace lit and it stayed that way for about 10 minutes. At that time I was thrilled because one of the owners of the company (Chad - who showed up at my house with a helper) said I didn't need any parts or additional labor. However, the fireplace wouldn't light after a few minutes of being turned off. By that time they had gone. I called the owner (Chad) to inform him the fireplace was dead as a door nail, and asked what the warranty was on the service he provided. He said it was an inspection and that there was no warranty, so I was essentially out of luck. Then he told me I probably needed some spare parts and someone who was licensed to work on the unit, which he was not. However, he didn't mention earlier that he wasn't licensed to perform work on the unit I might add. A waste of my time and $99.00.

The technician was on time and completed the service efficiently. He spotted issues with our exterior fireplace and suggested certain repairs that may be beneficial, but did not pressure us at all. At our request he also provided a quote about a future project and was very helpful.

I called and they were here in about 40 minutes after the call. They did a great job. spend about 20-25 minutes checking and inspecting, including cleaning the parts of the gas fireplace, and they were very careful of my floors and rugs, they were very neat and tidy, put down cover to protect everything. The charge was a bit high compared to other service providers but they were very thorough and they even went outside to check the chimney and the vents. They made some suggestions or recommendation to seal the chimney top. I would definitely hire them again in the future.

They came promptly to do some preventive maintenance that they recommended a year ago, but we just got around to requesting. They charged the same amount that they estimated it would cost a year ago! They didn’t try to “sell” us anything we didn’t need.

Nathan and Jake arrived on time. Both were very polite and professional. They got to work right away, laid some sheeting in front of the fireplace to contain any mess. I will definitely call this company again next time I need service.

They arrived on time and cleaned chimney that used gas logs. It wasn't very dirty.

Kicking Ash Chimney Service replaced the chase cover last year. This year I hired another chimney company to work on other problems. They did an inspection and showed me pictures of how the chase cover was installed by Kicking Ash. The pictures showed that 2 of the 3 screws of the chimney chase cover were missing, and the chase cover was way too big for the chimney. Kicking Ash told me that I had to rebuild the chimney, but none of the other companies told me that rebuild was necessary.

The service was great. The tech informed us of everything that he did and did a great job cleaning the fireplace.

It was tricky communicating (through angies list website) over the phone and email went okay. Quoted and paid going rate based upon other estimates, although many other contractors turned me down as they felt the job was too small. They were booked up for a few weeks, but we scheduled a time that worked for me. Day of, I got a call saying they would be a few minutes late, which ended up being 10, didn't bother me. A three man team showed up, top of the roof, old one gone, new one on, ladders back on truck, all just under 30 minutes. Good job fellas. Paid ca$h, got a receipt.

Work that was completed had to be redone again within 2 years. When reached out to the company they blamed lack of liner in the chimney rather than poor craftsmanship of the worker. This was exact opposite of what was said by multiple other masons that came to inspect and give quotes.

All went well with repairs except for the brickwork patching. Some have failed already and popped over the winter.

They were in and out so fast I had to wonder if the job they did was sufficient. There's no way for me to tell. I do know that when I've had my chimney swept before it took much longer.
