Called the office and asked how much it was for a new sump pump...She said someone would call me back with an estimate..wondered why she couldnt tell me like the EcoPlumbers girl that answered did..?? but...a man Did call me back in about 2 mins..so it was ok ..but both he and the woman at the office were on some very bad cellphones..I could hardly hear.or understand them...but he did give me a price of $385. then the $49 off for Angies List coupon and EcoPlumbers said between $300-$400 ...so I called back and made an appt for Friday(this was on Weds) and they have 2hr time-frames ..which is good ..I made a 4-6 appt and then called back on Thurs morn to change to 2-4...and wondered if they would get it right...and they did..Tim showed up at around 3pm...was kinda expecting a "pre_call" or on the way kinda call...but didnt get one..He was just there...He was very nice and courteous and showed me how my old plastic tubing from my old sump pump could be replaced with some PVC piping.for an additional $30...I said yes..so he had to run to hardware store to pick up some..was gone maybe 20 mins..came back installed sump pump with the PVC pipe and was done by around 4pm! Very fast ..did a great job with the PVC pipe..did a professional job..rang me up at the exact price of $385 minus the Angies List coupon of $49 and plus the $30 for the PVC pipe...There was a little bit of mess on my basement floor that I had to clean up ..but he did wear the bootie things on his shoes to not track messes on the floors...All in all they were quick.and professional and on time and gave me a coupon for $25 off any future work and also a survey to mail in on how this job went.....which I will just post here..!!!! My technician was Tim whom I asked if he was the owner and he said Yes...It went very well and I felt like the pricing was very good..

I thought i was going to need a shower valve replaced after getting some bad advice from Kohler. The plumber was right on time and decided to try to remove the damaged screw first rather than replace the valve. After 20-30 minutes of fighting with it, he was able to remove the screw. Luckily the threads of the valve were not damaged, so he was able to install the new trim piece. I was prepared to pay several hundred dollars for a new valve, but instead, after using the Angie's List coupon, I spent $90. I will definitely use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing the next time I need a plumber. I'm hoping that won't be for awhile, though

All repairs were done quickly and efficiently. I called up that morning and were able to be there the same day. I received a call when they were about to arrive. A price was quoted, the work began. All was fixed within a short timeframe and the estimate given was accurate. I would definitely use them again.

Even though it wasn't an emergency since we have another full bath, they were quick to respond and had a tech scheduled in a day. We were given a two hour window and the tech even called ahead 15 minutes to let us know he was on the way, which was nice and allowed me to put the dogs in the other room. He was quick, professional, clean, and let us know exactly what was wrong and had it fixed in less than 20 minutes! The invoicing was easy to understand and with the Angie's List coupon we didn't have to pay the service charge! This is my first home, so I have never used a plumber before, and now I know who to call if I ever (or should say when) I need their services again.
Description of Work: We had a tech come out to fix a shower faucet that would not turn all the way, thus not allowing water to be adjusted. It turned out to be a broken scald guard. It only took about 15 minutes to fix, and we had hot water again!

The work was finished in about an hour and a half. While they were removing the old water heater, they discovered a pinhole leak in a pipe against one of the floor joists. They replaced the piece of pipe and installed the new water heater.
Description of Work: Tim came out in October/November to look at a leak in the water heater. We learned that the water heater was 26 years old and should probably be replaced. We had a 50 gallon gas water heater installed today.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing were wonderful. I have an old card from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and this man came out, his name I think was Todd and he said we are changing the name Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. He lied to me. He said that they were changing the name to Columbus Ohio Plumbing Service. He told me that I had to have my yard dug up and pay them $5200 to have it done and replace the pipe. We did not have $5200. He kind of harassed us. We are in our 70s but we are not stupid. I said that well can you take a VISA card, he said that no he could not take it. He said he would like to take my VISA card and get cash. I said no I cannot, because that is 19%. He said that he will take the 19% off of it, but I said that no we are not going to do it. I said I am going to call my son and we are going to talk about it and we are going to pray about it, because we pray about everything. So, in the meantime I had called the City of Columbus, they came out and checked the line, and said that it was fine and there is no problem there. I told them that there is man who had said that he had to replace these and he wanted to charge us $5,000 to $10,000. He said that well there is another man here who cleans out the drain well. It took them at least an hour or more to clean out that drain. They worked fine and then within a week or so they came again and never charged us. They said we guarantee it and it has never backed up since. So, that was the real Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. The Benjamin Franklin Plumbing guys, Mr. Tim Lott and Ms. Janice Lott, are wonderful. He was very professional. He was very nice. We had absolutely no problems with him at all. I last used their services in December. My son recommended Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. My son told me that we can trust them. They came in right away, there was no problem with a Saturday. They did not charge us for Saturday or anything. I am very happy about that. They are very very professional. I felt very safe with them. When the incident of that Todd guy happened, I went on Angie's list and saw them on there and I thought that is not his name. That is when I called them. Angie's list was very helpful on that.

Frankly, I considered doing all the below myself, but I'm glad I didn't. I would have done them all differently... done them all WRONG... and would have paid a lot more to have my mistakes corrected! Installed connection for refrigerator water/ice. This house has PVC water pipes so installing a simple saddle valve wasn't a good idea. 1) 1) Plumber (Tim) drilled a hole through floor under the kitchen sink and another behind the refrigerator; installed a "T" connection to the sink cold water supply line; ran stainless steel hose from "T" connection, under the floor (in the crawl space) and connected to refrigerator. I thought he would just connect to the cold water line in the crawl space, but Tim said I should have an easily accessible shut-off valve (which wouldn/t have been the case if the connection was in the crawl space), which the connection under the sink provided. 2) Replaced old faulty shower control cartridge. I knew this job was way beyond my abilities and know-how... and I was right. A brass collar had to be cut in order to remove the old cartridge. I have no doubt I would hav cut something else if I had done it myself... assuming I even knew what to cut and had the proper tools to do it! 3) Replaced existing shower head supply pipe with new 8" shower head pipe. This I could have done, but decided to have Tim do it... mostly to ensure it was installed tightly enough that I didn't have a leak inside the wall. Please note that the price paid included all parts except the new 8" shower head pipe.

Company was very nice. My only complaint was they said they would call back the next day and it was several days before I heard form them. They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely fashion. For what Roter Rooter told me would be over $400.00 Benjamin Franklin charged me $180. Roter Rooter also told me they had to leave to get the parts at a store. BF had all the supplies in the truck.

I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing on New Year's Day, expecting to have to leave a voicemail and pleasantly surprised when a person answered. I explained that we needed to have a tub faucet replaced, but didn't want an emergency call. I was happy that they were available the next morning, and made the appointment. Tim came out and replaced the faucet, while my husband was at home. He had to go out and purchase parts, but was able to get the faucet replaced that day. . My husband said that at one point, the plumber had turned the water on int he basement, and gotten back up to the 2nd-floor bathroom only to find water gushing into the wall, so went back down and turned the water off again. We aren't sure if there was any damage to the wall due to this water. . The tile surrounding the tub is marble, and a section around the faucet had to be broken and removed to get to the pipes. I don't have a problem with that, but when I got home that evening, I was a little taken aback by the piece of plastic that had been used to replace the marble. It extends about half an inch beyond the rest of the tile, and looked not to have been sealed on the outside. I called back the next day and asked for an email address, to which I sent the following: . "I have some questions and concerns about the work done at my house on January 2. I had a tub spout replaced, and my husband, James Clay, was at home when the work was being done. I don't know the name of the plumber(s) who did the work, and can't read the signature on the invoice. Also, James did not sign off on the invoice. 1) James told me that evening that at one point, the water had been turned on in the basement, not knowing that the pipe was compromised. When the plumber got back to the 2nd floor, the water had actually been gushing into the wall, so he then went back to the basement and turned the water off. However, it didn't seem that anything had been done at the time to address the amount of water that had poured into the wall. What can be done about this now, and is there any concern about water damage to the wall and possible mold? 2) The plumber had to break the marble backsplash in order to get to the pipes behind the tub, and I don't have a problem with the need to do that. However, the plastic replacement appears to have been installed sloppily, and not sealed completely on the side away from the tub. I have attached pictures, and would like to have someone come out and clean up this job if possible." . I requested that he come back and tidy up the backsplash, expecting that they would trim it by half an inch to match the rest of the tile. He did not, just apparently put some caulk or something under the far edge. I have pictures of the backsplash after the initial installation and also after the "fix" and it just doesn't look all that professional. . In addition, we were annoyed that the hot water, not the cold, came out first when the tub faucet was turned on, and looked on the internet to find out why the cold didn't come out first as it had previously done. I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again on Saturday, January 19 and asked them to come out and flip the valve around. He came out on Monday morning and took care of that, and I hope I don't have to call them again. . The faucet works now, and I'm happy about that, but the whole job wasn't handled as professionally and neatly as I would have liked. At some point, I'll need to get the bathroom repainted and a tub surround put in.

We've used Ben Franklin a few times now & Tim is great! My husband noticed our shut-off valve was leaking & water was all over the basement floor. I'mnot sure how long it was leaking, it may have been a week. I called at 5:00 Saturday evening & was told that he could make it out that night still. So Tim showed up about 1.5 hours later to fix the leak. It turned out to be a very simple fix, he just tightened the faucet up for us. So he just charged for the service fee call. We were surprised at how fast he was able to come & fix the issue. We will definitely keep using Ben Franklin!

it went very well, they came out the same day of our requests and got all done that afternoon. They were very punctual with my requests to come back twice after original work was done.
Description of Work: They installed a new toilet, new faucets in the bathroom and kitchen; repaired the hot and cold knobs on shower faucet by repairing the valves. Originally I was going to replace the faucet in tub, but due to it would take too long to complete that job, we approved for the plumber to repair the knobs for now. Our small bathroom faucet was making an air sound when in use, but plumber couldn't find a cause for that. Had him check on the basement hot water knob on utility tub, for wasn't turning easily, but he stated that it was functioning fine so nothing done with knob. I had requested alot of different jobs, and was impressed they did all of this just within a few hours of contacting them. I called them back ,for there was a water leak around the pipe under the bathroom vanity, they ended up coming twice to try to correct that problem, at no charge.

the original price was 177.50,Talked him down to 125.00. the two parts for bathroom were two elbow traps. used a wire device to support the trap in kitchen. The whole job took less than one hour, I still think that it is high. for the amount of time it took. But we do know that plumbers rates are high to begin with. But we have had no more leaks and job was done cleanly.

Tim came to give an estimate on fixing a leak in my Moen shower faucet and leaks in the bathroom sink faucet and the kitchen sink faucet. I had already purchased the Moen faucet cartridge and couldn't get the old one out. He told me there was a special tool needed and proceeded to fix all of the leaks for what I thought was a good price. It has been a full week now and the leaks are still fixed. My water bill had slowly gotten higher and higher because the bathroom leak had progressed to a steady stream of water, so I'm looking forward to receiving my next water bill. This provider had great reviews and prices on Angie's List, and I was fully satisfied with the service provided and the price. I would recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to anyone.

I want to start this review by comparing my experiences with this company and an electrical job I had done a week prior. I had an Angie's List Approved electrician do a semi major job for me. It involved disconnecting and then reattaching my 200v line from AEP and then back to the house's breaker box. He also disconnected 2 boxes that were part of a whole house generator I was selling. He spent 2 1/2 hours on the job and my complete cost was $187. This was about $50 less than the original estimate. The job with Benjamin Franklin was to stop a leak of my shower faucet. First of all, he never showed up for the previous day's appointment. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing has a 'Punctual Promise.' I did not ask specifically what this meant as to a reduction of my bill when I called back the main number to reschedule. I was told the serviceman's previous appointment went way over and she would gladly make another appointment for me. Strangely, a man from Benjamin Franklin called and asked if I were the person who had a leaky washing machine. I exclaimed I was supposed to be his second afternoon appointment but since no one came I rescheduled. The same person who called me the previous night showed up, prompt this time. Secondly, the repairman looked at the faucet and came back from his truck with a plastic piece about the size of my thumb. He took out the screw holding the inside of the faucet in, took out the old plastic piece, reinserted the new one and put the screw back. For this he charged me $142. I even had a coupon from Angie's List for a free service call for $39. This was actually a 50% discount from their "Straight Forward Pricing" because he missed the previous day's appointment. All in all, he was in my front door, fixed the leak and drove off in his truck after payment in 15 minutes. BTW, I called the main number of the company where I got plumbing services and explained I did not understand why I was charged so much. The woman who answered said she would look into it and give me a call back. At first she agreed with me that the job the serviceman performed should have been a 'number 1' (out of 5) but she must have typed in the wrong number and he charged me for their number 4 work. It was not her who called but the actual serviceman who did the work. I told him I was not pleased with the pricing. He told me that he charged for the work done. According to their price structure, he said he charged me for a ''faucet stem rebuild.' This was a 'number 4' out of 5 difficulty for their pricing structure. I said I thought it should be one of their number 1's. Among a list of other services for a number 1 charge is changing a 'nut and washer.' This is actually the work he performed. I still do not understand why I was charged as I was. So my experiences with Angie's List has been one great and one not so great. I guess it's still a hit or miss as to whether the company you get is, well, on the up and up. He did stop the leak thought!

Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
We did miss our original appointment window for the member as I was tied up on an emergency and was running a little late. I contacted the member about 4:30 and explained that I was on my way and he said the next day would be fine. The average cost for repairs for replacing a pressure balance cartridge on a Delta faucet (which is the piece of plastic referred to is 282.00 plus 49.00 service charge. I waived the service charge because he was Angies List. I then dropped the charge from 282.00 to 144.00 because the service did not take very long to fix. When you called my secretary was on an errand and did not have the computer to look at. She did call and ask what the piece of plastic was and about the charge. I told her I would call the customer and explain charges to him, which I did.. I thought everything was ok then I get this kind of review. I will contact you again to try to explain the charges again and sorry you were unhappy.

Benjamin Franklin was able to schedule us promptly and after 5pm. It took only minutes to assess the problem with the drain, and then a little longer to snake the line. About 25' down he was able to break through the blockage and get the drain to function correctly. I was unaware that his fee was a flat fee -- and so we had a couple of other things for him to repair to make the $140.00 house call more palatable. The repairs have held and we have not experienced any further issues. Overall we were happy with the work done.
Description of Work: We had a kitchen drain that was draining slowly. We called several plumbers to get quotes. We got the names of the plumbers via Angie's List.

Tim did a very good job. I was going to do it myself but decided to hire a plumber and I'm glad I did as even he had some trouble getting the old faucet out. He ran into some issues but knew what to do to take care of the issues.
Description of Work: Replace defective faucet in kitchen sink and install a soap dispenser on sink.
