+ -1 morecalled in the am because having prob with the a/c. sent John out that pm. John was very nice & knowledgeable. let me follow him around & ask a bunch of questions. suspected we needed Freon & a good cleaning. had the work performed & agreed to sign on for the maint pkg. Because we added maint pkg ($165 per yr.) this was counted as 1 of our visits, giving us 15% off parts & a disc off of the cost of the svc call. After John left realized bill might be wrong. called a few days later & spoke w/Terry. He checked the bill & confirmed we were overcharged & said they would send a refund. I have no doubt that Terry will keep his word as this co has been wonderful to work w/from the 1st call to the last. I highly recommend this co to anyone who needs the svcs they perform. The tech made quite a few errors when calculated my bill. I called & was told they would mail a refund. I am happy to report that the chk came 2 days later. I was very impressed with/follow-up & how quickly the chk arrived.
Description of Work: They checked and cleaned the air conditioning unit. The unit needed cleaning and Freon and we had that work performed. The furnace was also checked to be sure there weren't any problems that would affect the air conditioning. This is an update to a report I submitted on June 5.

+ -1 moreIt was timely but incomplete. They never filed proper paperwork and permits with the city. The work was fine, and they cleaned up after themselves, but follow up was not so good. Because of them dropping the ball on the paperwork, the unit might have to be moved.

+ -1 moreOur AC unit was not performing properly so I called at about 8:45 am to request service for the AC unit and spoke with Beth, who was very friendly and professional. A technician (Ron Johnson) was at my house within 45 minutes. He was polite, professional and very knowledgeable. Our air conditioning was fixed within an hour. The invoice was very easy to understand. It had a written description of the work performed and a checklist so that I could see exactly what was inspected.
Description of Work: Inspected furnace/blower area, ductwork, operating system. Replaced air filter. Added refrigerant.

He actually showed up at the agreed time! Jason was very polite and knowledgeable of the work that had to be done. Everything was completed in a timely manner and the work area was left cleaner than before the work begun. Jacob Bros. should be proud to have Jason O. out there representing them. He's a nice, hard working guy that's knowledgeable of his field.
Description of Work: Performed routine tune-ups on our furnace and central air unit as part of a service agreement. Installed a humidifier on our furnace.

+ -1 moreRon was professional and quick about his work. He arrived early and quickly diagnosed the problem. He replaced the igniter and our furnace was working again within 30 minutes of his arrival. The igniter went out again the following day - Jacob Bros. returned and again replaced the part (unknown if it was a defective part, or a problem occurring when it was installed) free of charge as both labor and the part were under warranty.

I was actually a few minutes late, but when I apologized for my tardiness, their technician Darryl said he was fine with waiting and didn't even know I was late. He performed a winter maintenance check on my heating system and made several recommendations about having various services performed as well as making recommendations on what to avoid (e.g., don't get a programmable thermostat if you have electric heat like myself).

+ -1 moreBoiler was not heating certain rooms in our house. Contractor came out and said we needed a new feeder valve which he had to order. Two weeks later, he came and replaced the valve. After he left, the boiler was still not working. He came back out a week later and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. He claimed it must be working because he couldn't figure out the problem. Despite the fact that there was no heat blowing into a number of rooms. He wanted me to pay him again for another service call, even though he did nothing and didn't fix the problem. We have had to call someone else to fix it.

+ -1 moreCalled after hours on a Monday, for an emergency service call. Furnace would run, but blower would not turn on. Took several calls over the span of a few hours to get response from on call service technician. He talked me into waiting until Tuesday, normal hours to have service visit, because it would cost significantly less. Technician arrived before noon on Tuesday and fixed problem. Technician was also very responsive to other questions we had about our furnace.
Description of Work: Checked Operation of heating system, found bad blower circuit in board, replaced control board and cycled system. System is operating properly at this time.

They were less expensive than the other company. I paid for the fall and spring cleaning at the same time. I was satisfied with their service.

+ -1 moreJacob Brothers came out within a few hours of my call. Duke Energy had turned off the gas to my house because of the gas leak. I was very appreciative that Jacob Brothers responded so quickly. It was a cold day! They fixed 2 gas leaks quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: There was a gas leak in a valve in my basement. Jacob Brothers removed the old valve (that was serving no purpose) and replaced the old piping with new. They also repaired a gas leak in the clothes dryer line.

+ -1 moreWe worked with Jack Erb. He is a very good sales person. Jack was on time and took some of the most in depth measurements I have ever seen. He wanted to make sure we got the properly sized system. Our installer Jeff and John were very good. They were so neat and meticulous with the installation and the clean up at the end of the day. They were also very pleasant to have in the house. We absolutely love the furnace. It is a modulating furnace so it cycles up and down very quietly.
Description of Work: Installed a new Rheem Modulating Furnace with an optional humidifier.

They have always been very complete and exacting in their work, workers are always pleasant and easy to talk to, they always explain every situation as it occurs. We would never use anyone else to service our furnace and A/C. We strongly believe in continued annual maintenance of the system in order to keep away any problems.
Description of Work: Date of work performed: 12/16/05. Annual maintenance contract, which includes two visits each year, one visit to prepare the system for winter use, and one visit to prepare it for summer use. Our system includes furnace and air conditioning unit. During servicing, both units are cleaned, checked for problems, any required repairs are made, running temperatures are checked, and thermostat checked. Filters are cleaned and/or replaced.

+ -1 moreInstallers were on time and very polite. They were able to go back and forth between their truck and our basement without going through the house. They did ask once to use restroom which was fine. They were also good about telling me what they did. Also worked with us in keeping our cat out of the basement work area. Installation took most of a day. We did discover that evening that the humidifier hose and pipes had been removed and not replaced (I didn't check this when they left, didn't realize they needed to do this to install AC). We called the next day and they gave us time options to come out and finish. We picked next Mon. at 8 AM. We waited about half an hour past 8 AM on Monday and called office. They said they would send an installer out. He came out, was very apologetic, and completed job.
Description of Work: Had new air conditioning unit replaced.
