I'm happy and I'm busy, and it's late!!!! 11432
Description of Work: I was not there...It was at a rental. My tenant called, water was coming up te drain in the basement. You featuted a deal on plumbing with a camera for $99. I called the person, my tenant said they solved the problem with the drain clean out. I'm pretty sure it was 11432 Kentbrook CT, 45240. I have a lot of rentals and a lot of problems. When there is a problem, I call a repairman, ask the tenant if they did good job and if they are happy with the repair. If problem is solved, I forget that problem and move on to the next problem. I'm going on 82 yrs. All the people that worked for me have retired. I have rentals in Columbus, Cincinnati, Ft Myers, FL, Mansfield, OH, Newark, OH, Wooster, OH. I work 7 days a week, from the time I get up till 10PM I can't remember every detail of solved problems. Thanks, Jerry Bernstein

Our furnace went out on a Wed. afternoon. I called Jacob Bros and they put me on the calendar for the next morning. The service repairman arrived during the timeframe I was given. He was professional and explained his diagnosis of the problem very clearly. He seemed to do a very thorough diagnosis of the problem. (He found the initial problem quickly, but kept looking and found another problem which was bigger and a CO2 danger.) He did not perform any repair work because we ultimately decided to purchase a new furnace. Ours was 25 years old and the repair costs would have been more than it was worth to put into a furnace of that age. We then called Jacob Bros for an estimate on a new furnace. We had a separate sales rep come out to help us with that. He explained their product very well, and we almost purchased a system from them. However, when we further questioned the pricing and wanted to talk over some discounts we had found (including an Angie's List discount), we felt that the sales rep wasn't being straightforward with us. He told us he had already applied the Angie's List discount, even though he didn't mention it when he gave us the quote and we had never told him we were Angie's List members. He also mentioned he had applied all manufacturer's warranties to our estimate, but when we pressed him further for more information on that, he admitted there were no manufacturer's warranties with this product. I've used Jacob Bros. before and have been happy with their repair service in the past. But we just didn't feel assured with the responses the sales rep gave us about the costs of the new furnace, so we ultimately bought a furnace from another company we had worked with before.

.I took advantage of a Big Deal to get a hose faucet replaced on the outside of the house. Mike from Service Pro arrived when expected and was very professional and curteous. He knew his business and described exactly what would be done, did it in a timely fashion, and had me inspect the finished work site. He gave me some ba ckground on the Company, and offered to take care of any future needs. I requested and received an estimate for another plumbing project I was considering. I would use this Company again after have this very positive experience. .
Description of Work: An outside hose faucet was replaced. Work was completed quickly and expertly. I'm very satisfied with the result.

Our heat went out and it was very, very cold. I searched Angie's list for deals on HVAC and found ServicePro $49.00 for diagnostic call. I called and spoke to a very polite lady who was very patient and nice even though I had a lot of questions. They came out within the hour. The tech introduced himself. He was very friendly and polite, then he put on shoe covers before he came in. He checked the thermostat and the furnace He told us some possibilities for what might be the problem, but he said things were looking good- He checked the thermostat again and gave it a jiggle. Suddenly, the heat came on!! We didn't have to buy anything else! Apparently the thermostat was knocked loose from recent construction in our kitchen. This could have been a good opportunity for them to charge us with all kinds of things, tell us we needed pther parts, etc, but there was only fair and honest dealing from them. He was so nice and very helpful and friendly. I will definitely use them again!

I purchased the sewer rodding big deal, which was perfect timing since we have problems with roots that clog our lines every year or two. Service Pros came out and cleaned the roots so our plumbing could drain again. The technician also explained other options for better clean out and for a permanent solution. He was incredibly professional and friendly. I will use this company again, and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Really easy to work with. Nice guy too. Offered to order true replacement parts from a parts dealer in Kentucky if I wanted authenticity. He was in and out quickly also.

A bit late to the appointment, not too bad considering it is snowy out, but they did not call. Cordial, and professional. Bought big deal, but they charged an additional $98 for a service I believed to be included. Spoke with owner's son about this matter. Apologetic, but did not offer to rectify the issue. Again I do apologize for any confusion with the deal that you had purchased. I did not feel that you were looking to have anything rectified but rather wanted to voice your concern with your experience. I believe the technician did give you an option to wither upgrade to a frost free hose faucet or request a refund through Angie's List for the deal which would have been at no cost to you. I was under the understanding that since you chose to have the upgrade installed you were not looking for any adjustments in your bill. I also looked into the scheduling issues you mentioned and I see you were schedule for a time frame of between 12 and 4. I do see that we had a call to your mobile phone at 12:24 when the technician was on the way and the technician arrived at 1:06pm. We do tell our customers to expect a technician within 30 minutes of our phone call so it looks as if we were a little bit behind. I do apologize but as you stated that was a very snowy day so unfortunately it was unavoidable. Again I do apologize and I do want you to know that we have made some changes to make things clearer for both new customers and those that have already purchased the deal. Thanks Alex Herrmann

One example, I was told by the second service person that when he called the first service person he was told that I requested the thermostat! That is when I completely gave up on these unprofessional swindlers. It took me a while to decide if I should do this. I came to the conclusion that I consider it my responsibility to advise others of what happened to me. Also, there were two carpet installers in my home all morning when the second service person was there - they can verify everything I"ve stated above because they heard it all. My bill was reduced to $373 (which I am still livid about - paying for an ignitor that wasn't needed)! When I got my monthly charge statement, I was charged $402. If my furnace ever stopped working again, I would take my chances on freezing to death before I EVER let anyone from this company in my home again. PS: This is the short version - it was actually worse!
Description of Work: Furnace stopped early evening. House temp was 52 degrees. Schibi is my regular HVAC company; called Service Pro because Schibi does not have an emergency number. Service person arrived quickly and installed an ignitor (which took about 3 hours, including a visit to a friend to ask about a problem as he'd broken a pipe - at least he was honest enough to admit it). Much later, ten minutes after he left when he thought he had everything fixed, the furnace stopped when it hit 57 degrees. I called the repairman who returned and said it was my thermostat. He said he didn't have a programmable model with him (which I currently had) and installed a cheap model which took another hour. He tried to remove mine when he left after presenting me with a bill for $546. I asked for my thermostat back knowing there was nothing wrong with it. Needless to say, he left at 11:10 pm and at 11:15 the furnace stopped once again leaving me with a house temp in the low 50's for the night. I knew the repairman did not have a clue what was wrong. I called and emailed Service Pro first thing the next morning, telling them to get someone out to my home ASAP and to not run the charge through for payment until my furnace was fixed. The person who showed up told me that I did not need an ignitor but I could consider it preventive maintenance; he also said there was nothing wrong with my thermostat, which he reinstalled. All the furnace needed was to have the condensor trap cleaned (an $89 fix with Schibi). He knew what he was doing at least but tried to song and dance for a couple of hours of bill adjusting ideas.

I am sorry to hear about the poor experience you had with our company. I have done a little research and hope to clear some things up but would also love to speak with you about this situation and make it right so you are 100% satisfied. The first issue that was taken care of was the replacement of your ignitor. From reading the notes and speaking to the technician your ignitor was not working at the time and was cracked which is a definite sign that there is a problem and you will not get any heat. Once the technician replaced this, your system did start to work again for a little while anyways. With the second solution the technician was not able to find anything wrong with the system and believed the problem to be the thermostat. That was replaced and again the system was working for a little while. Once the second technician arrived the next morning, he was able to determine that the problem was the condensate trap. He fixed this issue for you and since then we have not heard of any other issues. AT that time he also removed the thermostat installed the previous night since that was not needed. This was definitely anything but a normal situation and as much as I would love to say our technicians are perfect, they are obviously not and do make mistakes. For the first technician I believe he was blinded by the issue after working on the problem for so long and so late at night. The second technician was able to put a fresh set of eyes on the situation and got it fixed right away. I also took a look at the charges and found the following. The emergency service charge was $149, the ignitor was $253, the thermostat which was installed and then removed was $0, and the cleaning of the condensate trap was $0. If there has been a mistake made please let me know and I would be glad to make any kind of adjustment that needs to be done. We recieved wonderful service from True Energy. The technician that helped us (named Ed) was so very kind and helpful. We made the call to the company, told them the problem, and they sent Ed out to our home and he was there within 5 minutes. He was very polite and helpful with our furnace problems. He was very knowledgable and quick to solve the problem at hand. Within no time (less than an hour), he had our furnace up and running again. On top of the great service that we received, the pricing was very reasonable too. We will definitely use this company again, and we will ask for Ed directly!
Description of Work: Our furnace wasn't producing any heat-the technician replaced a bad part and had it up and running within an hour.

Sarah did what I described above. I thought it was a good deal at the time. Four weeks later, my drain clogged up, and I called Service Pros back, they came out for $450 (extra $50 for a service call). They did the same thing as before, but did more of it. Total time was only slightly longer than the first time, but the price was five times as much. I was told it was roots that cause the clog, but I did not see roots on the camera after the first time (they must have been further down the line).
Description of Work: Sarah came out, opened the clean out, sent a ~2" spade-shaped head down down the sewer about 100', then pulled out, removed some roots from the head, then sent a camera head down 50' where it got stuck, tried to locate where the sewerline was, and that was it. Sarah recommended a $400 drain cleaning, which she explained was a more intense version of what she just did.

Here is the story: 01/27/13 - Sewer clogged, call Service pros and state we have the Angie's List line rodding offer. 01/28/13 - Technician comes to the house. Struggles initially with with diagnistics but finally gets the correct machine and runs it through the main line to clear the blockage. She convinces my wife that the work she did was different than what we had already paid for and will give her an "Angie's List discount" of $79. I was not home and was unaware that Service pros was backing out of our Angie's List contract. My wife is just happy that the line is clear. Technician returns later in the day to televise the line. 01/30/13 - I see the bill and hold my disbelief to myself. I do not want to upset my wife. 02/04/13 - Send off detailed email to Mr. Alex Herrmann, Operations Manager and explain my issue with paying an additional $376 on top of the prepaid service I bought through Angie's List. 02/07/2013 - Mr. Herrmann replies he will look into it and get back to me tomorrow (02/08/2013). No response so I email again on 02/12/2013 No response so I email and fax on 02/14/2013, This time I explain that I have put the charge in dispute with my credit card company. I get a call from Mr. Herrmann within 5 minutes of sending the email. He provides his first excuse that the snaking of my drain was sufficient to fulfill Angie's List. 02/14 - 02/19/2013 - Multiple emails back and forth where Mr. Herrmann provides his additional excuses and I counter his excuses with quotes from the Angie's List, quotes from the service invoice, and sound logic. I have all the emails and documentation to back up my claim that the work performed was the Angie's List work and that I satisfied the fine print of the offer. Mr Herrmann has this to support his position as he sates in one of his last email responses: "the bottom line based on the thousands of jobs, many years of experience, and this specific situation; your sewer was not accessible." The simple and obvious falseness of his opinion is directly refuted in the service bill my wife received from his technician which states "ran 300 through c/o near washer. line packed with build up. cleaned w/machine & flushed a lot of water." Note that the "c/o" written by the Technician is an abbreviation for "clean out" and "300" is the power rodding machine used to clean the sewer via this accessible clean out. In the Technicians own words she states that she accessed our sewer line from the clean out and ran her 300 machine through the line to clear it. 4/25/2013 Update: Look at Mr. Herrmann's response point #4 below. We accepted Mr Herrmann's request to speak with my wife, much to her dismay. Once we accepted his condition for this conversation, Mr Herrmann BACKED OUT. He refused to honor his written word. All we asked from him was that he put the refund money in the hands of Angie's List. Once he had that conversation, Angie's List would send the refund to us. If you cannot trust Mr. Herrmann to honor his written word, do you think you can trust him for anything else?
Description of Work: 8/22/2013 update: GREAT NEWS!!! Servicepros are gone and my 7 month battle with them has ended. They were acquired by True Home in July. I immediately contacted True Home, explained my dispute with Mr. Herrmann, and they have agreed to send me a check for the $376 in dispute. It was handled by True Home quickly, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction. THANK YOU TRUE HOME! I had a prepaid service purchased from Angie's List for a home main sewer line rodding with free sewer televising. a $404 value for the price of $79. Sounded like a good deal as some houses in the 40 year old neighborhood were having sewer line clogging and replacement issues. Well, I had a clog in my line on a Sunday. We called Service Pros and explained we had the Angie's List offer. They had no one available until the following day. Monday morning the Technician arrives and clears out the main sewer line for the sums of $455. I have no issue with the quality of the work, it was fine. I do have issue with paying $455 for something I had already prepaid through Angie's List. The Operations Manager, Mr. Alex Herrmann, was extremely non-responsive until I put the charge in dispute with my credit card company. From there it was just one reason after another why the work they did to rod my sewer line was not the work I purchased from Angie's List. The first excuse Mr. Herrmann gave was that his Technician ran a snake through my floor drain and that satisfied the List offer. Everything else she did was above and beyond the offer. I pointed out to Mr. Herrmann that the offer specifically excludes floor drain access. His second excuse was that my wife agreed to the service. Well guess what, all my wife wanted was the sewer cleared. . His third excuse was that they use different equipment for the Angie's List service compared to what I received. When I pressed him on specific equipment model numbers, it turns out that the equipment used for my service and the equipment required to complete the Angie's List service are the same. His final excuse, and the one he really clung to, was that they did not have access to my sewer line clean out. The plug on the sewer line clean out was hard to remove and the Technician elected to break it out rather than use some other non-destructive method. My response to this was that there were no obstructions anywhere near my clean out AND his Technician opened up the clean out to perform the service. Whether she broke it out or unscrewed it, she quickly and easily gained access to the sewer line and performed EXACTLY the prepaid Angie's List Service of a sewer line rodding followed by a televised visual inspection. DO: Stick to the conditions of your prepaid offer. Say NO to Service pros if they waiver a fraction of an inch, no matter how much you want the work done. DO: Read all the reviews before you select someone. Angie's List defaults and list the highest reviews first. Make sure you scroll down to find all of Service pros negative reviews. DO: Pay by credit card. That gives you some leverage to dispute payment. DO: Use all the leverage tools available to protect yourself from businesses that treat you the way Service pros treated me. Angie's List.....PLEASE HELP!!

Although we always appreciate the feedback I would like to fill in a few gaps that were left out of this story. 1) When the technician determined that your sewer was not the norm and would warrant additional charges, she did give your wife options with pricing before moving forward. Your wife had the choice to refuse any additional services and send the technician on her way. She ultimately signed to have additional services completed at a set price before any work was started. 2) Your sewer was not a typical situation and as I have stated it was not "easily accessible". The technician spent every bit of an hour to gain access to your sewer and was at your home for a total of four hours working to unclog your sewer line. A typical sewer stoppage with good access would normally last between 60-90 minutes. 3) Your wife was happy with the service at the time as well as the follow up visit to camera your sewer line about a week later. At no point has your wife expressed dissatisfaction or stated that she feels she was deceived. 4) We do have an outstanding offer to refund your money if we either did not follow the procedures described above or your wife feels that she was deceived. The only request on our end was that we could speak with your wife to get an understanding of how things went wrong so that we can make any corrective changes within our office. As of our last email you had refused to get your wife involved even though she was the only one home at the time of the service. At this time we are still open to discuss this further and would be open to the refund you requested if we can fully understand the problem. From looking over everything it seems that our technician followed all procedures and this was a choice made by your wife to have the services completed.

Sarah, a Service Pro licensed plumber, came at the appointed time on Feb. 7 and examined all the potential jobs on our to-do list. She gave us a definite price on all but one job, and an estimate on the shower work, all in writing. She also called her office from our house and scheduled a day for the work -- Thursday, Feb. 14. She arrived as scheduled with all her tools and replacement fixtures at the ready, worked quickly and efficiently, and was a very pleasant person to have in the house. Everything seemed to be in good working order and the work sites cleaned up,before she sat down to go over the paperwork -- itemized bill, service policy, etc. I would be happy to commend her work to anyone.
Description of Work: We had several needed plumbing repairs that we had been living with for some time. When the big deal offered by The Service Pros came up, we decided to have someone come and examine the various needs and give us an estimate of cost. to replace three faucets, correct a toilet that didn't flush right, and give us an estimate on repair and/or replacement of a shower.
