Service Pros cancelled the first appointment and rescheduled for Friday. I wouldn't be home until later but made arrangements for my son to cover the appointment until I arrived home. They came earlier but did call to confirm that they could with my son. When I arrived home the estimate said I needed over $3000.00 of repair work. I felt this wasn't necessary since my air conditioner ran well last summer. I then called Prescription Air, who does my regular check ups, and the problem was a start up motor which only cost $180.00 dollars to replace and my air conditioner was running well. I thought I could get a deal which only cost me a extra check up. I will stick with my regular service from now on.

We started having problems with our furnace in December 2012. The furnace would seem to work fine some days, but other days it did not come on. Based on reviews on Angie's List, we contacted Jacob Bros Heating. They came out quickly and spent quite a bit of time cleaning things up and trying to figure out the problem. We live in a condo and have some special challenges with our furnace and air conditioner -- condo is built on stilts and the unit is a roof unit but is actually installed on a cement slab underneath our condo. They gave us a couple of options -- one being to replace some parts that were rusted out (including the electronics) for a cost of around $4,000. The other option was to replace the unit, and again because of our special challenges this was not easy. We got an initial bid from them for around $15,000 (part of the cost was taking deck boards out to lower the unit and then replacing them). So far, really no beef -- in fact, Jack Erb called the first weekend to make sure we still had heat and when we lost heat again (before we made our decision what to do), they came out again and discovered the flue was blocked. They disconnected the furnace from the flue and we had no more trouble all winter. We know we are living on borrowed time, but due to several other companies coming out -- some telling us one thing, some telling us another (city regulations), we have decided to replace the parts on this very old furnace because it appears the other option will now cost us around $30,000. Here's where we are having the real issue. On their first visit, we decided to sign up for the annual plan -- they did the winter maintenance on the furnace and for a discount would also do the maintenance in the spring on the air conditioner. We called in late April, early May for our Spring maintenance. We couldn't get an appointment until JULY! They have our money...I guess they don't care. We have also followed up numerous times trying to get a final quote for replacement parts. We are pretty much feeling ignored in getting that bid. It started out well, but we are no longer feeling very good about Jacob Bros.

It did take us a while to get back with [member name removed]. As [member name removed] mentioned she has an unusual installation. It was not the correct equipment to install originally and the only way to install a replacement system will require extensive remodeling to install a system according to the building code. It took us longer than normal due to the fact that we had to meet with the City of Cincinnati Inspector to try to come up with a solution to their problem. In the end they have decided to repair their system rather than replace it due to the cost involved. With regards to their service agreement, our office sent them notices to schedule their air conditioning tune up in March and again in April. We try to schedule the maintenance before it gets hot. Once the weather changes we get busy very quickly. She contacted us on May 9th and we scheduled them for July 9th for the tune up. She told us that she was unhappy about waiting until July. We told her at that time that if we have any cancellations that we would call her to try to schedule it sooner. We called twice and were not able to reach her. We appreciate their business and we are sorry for the delay getting them pricing for their equipment replacement. I think better communication in the future will help us to schedule their maintenance before the cooling season.

I thought that the work was okay. One thing that they do is, all through the process, they are trying to sell a long term contract and that took away from the work itself. The service tech said it would be an extra $100 to clean some part of the furnace and then my husband went down and looked and it didn't' really need to be cleaned, so that made me question. They were okay. They responded and came out and did the work we paid them to do, but they weren't top notch.

Jacob Brothers was servicing A/C. A/C needed 2 1/2 to 3 pounds of freon. We had put in 2 pounds previous year. A/C not worth fixing. Very... very... uncomfortable.... Called Jacob Brothers Tuesday following Memorial Day. We were getting desperate as it was getting very hot in the house. Asked if they could get one in by Friday. Sales came out, evaluated, and we came up and agreed to a plan. They were unable to do that, but said they could charge the system with Freon free of charge, and get a new one in middle of the following week. It was going to be a 2-day job because we were putting the new unit in a different location and electric had to be run and the lines replaced. They had someone out Tuesday evening to charge the system, but it would not take a charge. Because it would not take the charge, and it was pretty hot, they made arangements for a Friday-Saturday install. They came out and worked Friday 8:30 to about 3:30 (rain). They returned Saturday morning and we had working A/C around Noon.

installation was ok, but tech failed to consult regarding angle positioniing of faucet lever. Work was done neatly. I intended to add small jobs in bathrooms (replace faucet washers, check drain) for an appropriate additional charge, but tech quoted excessive charges for that work, so did not have them done. Their price book is a useful tool, but tech used very inappropriately ... adding the small additional jobs as if they were separate service calls, furnishing a total estimate of over $700 right up front.

Searched Angie's List on 5/20/2013 for someone to come and look at our central air conditioning unit, it was not blowing cold air. Found a coupon for $49.95 from Service Pros for either cleaning and check or service call including diagnostic. We called and scheduled an appointment for the next day ; the lady that we spoke to didn't know anything about a special / coupon from Angie's List. The serviceman was on time and went right to work, he found the problem in about five minutes. He gave her a price to repair the problem of $210.00 for a dual capacitor and advised her that he had the part with him. He said the air conditioner was fourteen years old and that we should be able to get six or more years out of it. We gave him the go ahead to fix it and he was done in less than an hour. The air conditioner was working like new. We are very pleased with the whole experience.

I was having an terrible time with my main drain backing up into my furnace closet when the washer would drain and I tried every type of drain clear (except Liquid Fire). Finally, I decided the only option was a professional, so I came to Angie's List to find recommendations. Not only did I find a recommendation, I got a GREAT offer on the service I needed from SERVICE PRO'S. They came to my house and ran a camera through my drain system to see exactly what was going on in the system and where they needed to focus their attention. They then routed the drains thoroughly and cleaned everything out. My drains have been working GREAT since. No more backups in the furnace closet!!! The service technician who provided the service was very friendly and professional. He called prior to his arrival to let me know he was on his way and when exactly he would arrive and he arrived at his scheduled time. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable service provider...I will certainly call them again when I need future work.

They called me back in a very timely manner. They were pleasant on the phone. The service tech "Sarah" was extremely nice, professional and very cordial. I purchased an Angies list coupon ($99 for $200 of service ) thinking that this would cover most of the cost. After $479 for a simple strainer to be replaced I was told that they are a flat rate company and there is nothing they can do on the price. I went on line and actually called their manufacturer and provided the part number - the unit costs $79.00. I then went on line to find 5 to 7 other quotes on both the part and the service. Everywhere I looked the part was $49 to $116.00. And the time and cost for a normal plumbers rate was $70 to $110. All in all this job should have cost around $220. With a $479 charge - you have got to watch out for these guys. They are very nice, but you will pay a HUGE price for that smile. They expect a consumer to not check. They say their parts are "better quality" but with the power of the internet you can clearly verify if what they are telling you is not right. All in all $479 for a $220 job? Not cool. But when you need a plumber you are usually screwed and have to take what they give you. I had hope going in with Angies List would take care of no one gouging me - but this time I got DRAINED by the plumber!

Phone staff was courteous, and communicated well leading up to the tech's visit to inspect my a/c. Up to this point, all is good (customer service, punctuality, price of service visit). The problem is that the tech inspected my outdoor unit for all of 3 minutes, and told me that I had a bad compressor that must be replaced so my a/c would work again. An estimate of slightly over $2000. I felt this was bad news but things break eventually, right? Plus, it was over 85 degrees in my house so I was very tempted to pay for the immediate relief. However, earlier I already scheduled another tech from a different company to inspect/diagnose the issue so I opted not to pay on the spot for the compressor, at least until I heard the verdict from the 2nd guy. 2nd guy came and did a 20 minute inspection (vs. 3 minutes), and did everything: washed off parts, checked coolant levels, the indoor unit, looked at rods, checked circuits etc. Net, 2nd tech said the problem was not a bad compressor but a bad condenser fan motor instead (~$500, much less than ~$2100). But I know that, just because something is cheaper doesn't make it right. So I had a 3rd tech (different company) come out. He also agreed after his 20 minute inspection that the issue was with the fan motor and not the compressor. One thing to note is that all 3 companies charged me about the same for the diagnosis, about $65. So, bottom-line is: Jacobs gave me an EXTREMELY incorrect and potentially costly diagnosis!! Glad I had a 2nd and 3rd opinion! Paying ~$350 for the right repair is always better than paying ~$2100 for the wrong repair.

I spoke to the service technician that was there and he stated that the condenser fan motor was running all the time but the compressor cycled on and off. When the compressor was running it wasn’t compressing any refrigerant. The pressures were equalized. In addition the compressor was extremely loud. He even unplugged the condenser fan motor temporarily to make sure the noise was coming from the compressor and not in the condenser fan motor. Our technician diagnosed a defective compressor. The Tenant was there with our technician during his evaluation. The findings from the other companies totally conflict with the conditions that existed when our technician was there. It’s as if we are talking about two completely different systems. I have called [member name removed] several times to have our service technician and myself visit the job again (free of charge) and reevaluate the system operation. [member name removed] will not return my call.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service and they did a good job. On a scale of between one and five I would have to rate them as between four and five They did everything I expected and the serviceman was clean, quick and very efficient. He told me about how long it would be and he did it in less time than that. He cleaned up after himself real well and it worked fine; I am real happy with it. I spent more than the $49 Big Deal price because I upgraded to a frost-proof faucet, which cost $98 more. This seemed fine to me and it was my choice. He did not suggest it; I did when I first spoke to the lady on the phone about setting up the appointment. She quoted me the price and the serviceman installed the frost-proof faucet when he came out.

I purchased the Big Deal for an external faucet replacement. When I called to schedule the service I was surprised to learn that the included faucet was not frost proof and that a frost proof faucet would require an additional charge. This was not mentioned in the deal write-up and was - to my mind - a bit of bait and switch. I think the average Joe living in an area with below freezing winters would expect an exterior faucet to be frost proof and that this should have been clearly spelled out. On the date of my original appointment, I waited twenty minutes past the originally schedule time, then called to check and was told the plumber was on the way. After another hour had passed, I called to reschedule as I was unable to wait any longer. It would have been nice if they had let me know that the plumber was delayed, rather than keep me waiting. At the rescheduled appointment, which was supposed to be the first of the day, the plumber arrived at the end of the window due to traffic. She was pleasant, knowledgeable, and did a good job. I did pay the extra for the frost proof faucet, which added $100 to the cost. It was still a bargain, but not what I had expected when I purchased the deal. The handle on the new faucet is a little hard to turn, but it doesn't drip at all - which is a huge improvement, so I'm basically happy. I don't know if I will call them again should the occasion arise, but I would consider it, as I'm satisfied with the outcome of the service.
