+ -1 moreFrom calling for an estimate to the installation, this was as close as you get to the perfect interaction with a service company. The person that answered the phone was pleasant and got us a prompt appointment for an estimate. The salesman / estimator was prompt courteous and explained everything and answered all our questions he even steered us away from a price your unit that we were looking at. On the day of the installation the service text called about 20 minutes before they arrived they came in got the job done and a time frame they specified it did take all day but that was expected and they left my basement cleaner than it was when they got there. The service techs were polite knowledgeable and quiet throughout the day. I worked from home and wasn't disturbed at all; in fact I probably disturb them by checking in. A few weeks later, we are extremely happy with their air conditioner and can't wait to experience the new furnace once it finally gets cold enough to need it. I would definitely contact Thomas and Galbraith again and will be going through them for any future service needed on the furnace and air conditioner. Oh I can't forget to mention they offer a fantastic warranty on parts and labor which was awesome. Much better than what we found with other companies we solicited estimates from.

+ -1 moreThey're very good. They do our regular work and they do a very nice job. We're under contract. The contract is $700 a year, but we have multiple air conditioning and heating units. I think their price is fine. I don't have enough comparisons, though. My understanding is they're comparable, they're competitive. I would just say they're competitive. The quality of their work is excellent. I don't know if they change the filters.

+ -1 moreThey're very responsive and do what they say. The service guy that was there, I think he was a little rushed and left stuff behind. He left the cut and stripped wires on the floor. It wasn't the end of the world but they are usually good at picking up.

+ -1 moreThere was a meeting for Thomas and Galbraith plumbers in the morning that went over the scheduled time and so the plumber was very late arriving at our house. We had to call and find out why he wasn't at our house. I felt like they should have called us. He arrived over 1 hour late. The faucet was installed correctly and the work area was left in good condition. We received a discount because he was so late. I do like that I never get a "creepy" feeling from the Thomas and Galbraith servicemen. They have always been respectful.

+ -1 moreWe have a ongoing contract with them. Even before we even had that done, we have them come and do they prep for winter and the prep for summer. They are quite competitive. A's all the way across because their service, their people in the office, their service people. We have it set up to where the same service person comes each visit, so that is very nice too. The reason why it was later was because of us, not because of them. They did call us earlier.

+ -1 moreMy system was 11 years old and did not display any signs of failing when it was serviced by T&G in the fall. The price to clean and inspect the system was very reasonable, using the coupon for first time customers. The technician was polite and professional. He tried to sell me an annual service contract (discount on two cleanings per year). I declined to purchase this. The system ran on auxiliary heat far too frequently during the winter and seemed to be laboring. I called another service provider this spring and learned the freon in my system was depleted and the system was now beyond repair. The opinion of this technician, who has serviced this system many times previously, was the T&G technician should have noticed this problem and brought it to my attention. The estimated cost of repairs was exorbitant. Although I hadn't planned for it, I had to replace a system that should have had more years of service in its life cycle. I cannot recommend T&G as a service provider.
Description of Work: In late November, 2016 I hired Thomas & Galbraith (T&G) to inspect and clean my heating system (heat pump). I considered calling T&G for my spring servicing, but did not use them because I could not get an appointment that synced with my needs and schedule.

+ -1 moreThey did what they could. We are very unhappy with Jacob Brothers, however. They misrepresented themselves. Thomas and Galbraith company is trying to do what they can to make the cheap/junk system that Jacob Brothers sold us work efficiently. Thomas and Galbraith did come out and tried very hard to make the best out of a very bad situation. Technically, the issue wasn't their fault because they weren't the ones who sold us the unit, and it gives me hope that this new company will provide more honest and dependable service than what Jacob Brothers had to offer.

Description of Work: Our central air conditioning unit wasn't working, and we had them come out for a paid diagnostic. The technician insisted we needed to replace the entire unit, and aggressively offered us three different price points. I called another company for a second opinion, and they said we just needed to replace a small part. We replaced the part and the unit has worked fine ever since.

+ 0 moreNo leak was found and the stopper was purchased and put in. The price the hour or so time that was spent was outrageous. They charged $400.00 for a part that could have been purchased for about $20.00. I would never hire them again nor would I recommend them.

+ -1 moreWe had a service contract with Jacob Brothers HVAC, but apparently T&G bought Jacob Brothers. We'd been with Jacob Brothers long enough to know and trust many of the technicians. A T&G technician came out to do the service--it would have been nice if we'd gotten a call from someone sooner than an hour before the technician would be arriving to let us know we'd lost our HVAC company. It would have been even nicer if a Jacob Brothers technician had arrived instead of someone we'd never seen before--even if the JB technician was wearing a T&G uniform. It just would have felt as if the customer service department was on top of things to have the JB techs finishing out the JB service contracts. Otherwise, the tech was very prompt which we appreciated. The technician was friendly enough, and spent time with the furnace and the outside AC unit. However, he didn't give us the same feeling of confidence that the JB technicians did. He then tried to sell me some sort of additive that would "clean the coolant lines" and that had "passed the smell test" with the service guys. He had a kind of "And here's scientific proof!" video on his smart phone for it. A web search suggested that this was more likely a money making add-on that we didn't need. Jacob Brothers never tried to sell us anything we didn't need (and always made sure we understood what needed to be done, such as showing us the broken parts). Jacob Brothers, we miss you and the feeling of confidence you inspired! Sorry there's no "maybe" button for the "Would you hire again?" question (have to pick yes or no). Not sure if we'll stay with T&G. Probably will depend entirely on how the next service feels, and if the Angie's list reviews stay so positive.

+ -1 moreOn price, I'm assuming it's comparable with what's out there in the industry, so I'd say A. I've used them for years. They're very professional. When I have no knowledge of an air conditioning system, they will take me down to the basement and point out things and try to explain them in layman's terms, which I really appreciate. They don't bug me. I had used another provider for years and I ran into a technician, a couple of technicians actually, that were just so unprofessional and shady, and I don't know, it's just weird. I was to the point of almost calling the police on them. It was pretty bad. This one guy from that provider would call and call and call. Finally I called him back and I'm like, you know you need to quit or I will call the police, and finally it did stop. It was bizarre - just bizarre - and I had used them for a long time. My cousin uses Jacob Brothers and has been very, very, very happy with them so I threw them my business and haven't had any complaints. I've never encountered anything like that in my life.
Description of Work: Mainly what I use them for is to do the annual check on the heater and then the annual check on the air conditioner.

+ -1 moreI had a unit outside that you could hear three blocks away. It was horrible and I finally bit the bullet because, you know, they're not cheap. They reviewed with me several options. They didn't just say here's what we're gonna do. They did give me some choices, which I appreciated. We went from there and they did the installation and cleaned up. They even had to lay down a concrete foundation for the air conditioner and no issue with that. It was just really good. Overall I give them a big A. On price, I don't remember what it was, quite honestly, but being that I wouldn't have gone with anybody else anyway, I'll have to say an A because I'm sure it was comparable. I would use them again for sure. They're coming out in two weeks, actually.

+ 0 moreI had some deal. The first time you get it you get a deal, I don?t know how much it is, $50 or something dollars off. I got the maintenance package where they would come out for two other times, for like winter and another spring. I got it for $100 or something dollars, I don't remember the exact amount. The total price with the extra work alone cost $216, for the tune up it was $50 and for the one year package, that was $189. I would give him an absolute ?A? for overall, because we've had people come and do tune ups for several years for a heating tune up and A/C tune up. One he told us about what was wrong instead of us having to tell him, and that was going on last year. The guy last year, he didn't tell us, he didn't notice it, he didn't check it. This guy is just really in depth with everything. He told us what was going on, what to do and how to keep it this way and so forth. They were really great. For the price, the way our system is with what he had to do to get in there, it's an older system, so I?d give him an ?A?. It?s working better than it had before. They were right on time.
Description of Work: They just checked the air conditioner and did a tune up. They also did some other work too because we were hearing a drip in our vent with the air conditioner. Something was disconnected and he had to reconnect the drain line.

Description of Work: I have a yearly service contract. They came and did the service on the boiler in the fall before it gets turned on. This was a standard service visit. They do inspection and cleaning and check the pressure.
