+ -1 moreI bought a furnace and service agreement through Thomas & Galbraith. Service and Responsiveness were EXCELLENT. I renewed the service agreement and shortly after T&G were sold to Tru Home. Since then, they have missed 3 appointments for service without calling. Each time it was a different story. "Two guys with same name and each one thought the other one was coming". We had an emergency and couldn't get to you. You have to book a "routine" service call three months in advance and then they don't show. Today was final straw. I am due for a new furnace/heat pump/ and AC and I will NEVER BUY FROM THEM while they are Tru Home. This is a sad case of a small company with excellent performance being bought out by someone without any clue as to how to do business. Sorry, but they deserve the ratings. Ironically, after we made the service call appointment, they called to reschedule it for today. And then they didn't keep it. I have been with T&G for over 10 years so my evaluation has some historical reference as to how good they used to be and how bad they are now. I have also learned that Tru Home is from Indianapolis and is trying to run the Cincinnati business from Indianapolis. I'm done!

When my husband took them to the faucet, there were additional fees that we didn't anticipate. While the service performed was good, the extra costs were very disappointing. We read the description carefully and felt the offer at $49 applied to our situation.

Description of Work: Very honest and dependable. Had Jacob Bros. install a whole home furnace and A/C condenser with heat pump. Installation team was very professional and prompt. The price compared to others was lower and the product was more efficient when compared to the competition. I always call/enquirer at least 3 quotes.

+ -1 moreIt was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went very well. I've had them come out on emergency calls and they don't charge emergency fees. They will give me options on if I want to replace the part or just get it through the season.I pay them monthly and it is very reasonable. I haven't compared their prices but I don't know anybody else that will spread it out over a year which is very convenient for me. They do a great job and they always explain what they are doing.
Description of Work: I use The Service Pros to service my air conditioner and furnace every year. I last called them because it had been running really hard and they didn't charge me; they just came out and cleaned it.

+ -1 moreTech arrived on time and was very friendly. Set up equipment quickly and got to work immediately. Drain rodding went smoothly. Found a couple areas with root intrusions that were cleaned out pretty well. Video inspection was disappointing, especially because this was main feature of the deal that prompted my purchase. Video screen quality was poor even on a relatively cloudy day. Had to throw a big blue tarp over ourselves and video screen to have any chance of seeing anything. No capability to record video, which was something else I had hoped for. Technician did claim to find a couple subsidence/break points in the old clay sewer line, but very difficult for homeowner to see due to poor quality of video screen. Tried to find specific locations of breaks using within-pipe transmitter, but sensor (and/or technician) was not as effective as I would have expected and the identified positions were suspect. Overall, still a fantastic deal to get 100ft cleanout for only $80. Cheaper than my normal service that does not use a camera. But the misses on the video quality and locator equipment would make me hesitate I was in an actual repair situation where I'd be paying regular price and the video/locator was critical.

water heater repair
+ -1 moreWell, I guess everybody has a trip charge, they have a trip charge. We complained about this problem before but it had not been determined at the point was an issue until that part was found to be defective. It was a part of the furnace. The thing that I didn’t like was we had them out before, we paid a trip charge before but nobody wants to reimburse us for that but I didn’t bring it up. The furnace is working good now, I’m happy to report. They are very friendly.
Description of Work: I used the services of Jacob Bros Heating & Air Conditioning. They actually came out over an issue, well, for the furnace, they corrected a problem which originally wasn’t meant to be defective but there had been a recall or something on it. So it wasn’t working, they came out and determined the problem was, just a defective part and so they replaced it for free. We found them on Angie’s List and that’s who we deal with.

I had contact with the technician though the phone and he was great. He was straight-forward and let me know what was going on. He was very professional and did a great job.
Description of Work: It was a Big Deal for $64 Heating or Cooling Diagnostic Service Call. They had to replace the circuit board on the furnace.

+ -1 moreThey talked me into a long term contract, which I eventually had to discontinue, because they were charging me something every month, and that was not something I had originally signed up for. Companies should be discouraged from talking people into long term contracts, especially when they are from Angie's List. They were very prompt. The long term contract thing really annoyed me, and so I won't use them again in the future.

+ -1 moreI called in the morning, stating that my heater was not functioning. They were out at 2:00PM the same day. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He told me everything that was going on at every step. He found the motor I needed for my system. Installed it that day. Followed through. I called the next day because the house was hot now and I didn't know what to do about that. They came out in 15 minutes, and said that the furnace was fine but I needed to keep the thermostat on auto, not on fan. No charge and the air returned to normal. I would highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreJay was the service man who initially came to do the furnace tune-up. I was very impressed with him, he did a very good job. I have a humidifier which I purchased a pad for. I had to pay him an extra $60 to get the cover off the pad, which I wasn't too happy with since I had already purchased it. My furnace is 6 years old and I've never had a problem at all, but my furnace quit 10 days after the visit. Stewart came out and said I needed an additional part. The total cost me $535. He did not charge for the service call, just for the part and $98 for pickup and delivery, as well as $189 for a maintenance agreement to come back and check the air conditioner in the spring.

+ -1 moreIt went great. It was a woman that came out and she was real helpful. I had two things that I needed done and I had her only do one thing. I would have had to pay more than the big deal if I had wanted her to do the other thing done because her prices were a little high. She was real nice and I was happy with the work she did. She covered her shoes when she came on my carpet and she even left a pair of those for me because the last people that came into work did not do that and got mud on my carpets so she said, she would leave me a pair of those. So she was just really nice but she didn’t do a lot of work for me though. I don’t have a lot to compare the price to.

+ 1 moreThe came as agreed and they used the camera in the sewer. They found an obstruction and said that it might be beyond my property line and beyond my sewer line. They used a small size auger to make sure there is an opening, but they don't totally remove that obstuction - that would be an additional charge. I didn't realize that wasn't part of the deal.

+ -1 moreAfter coming home late in the evening (10:30pm) to find the indoor temperature at 52 degrees I called Jacob Bros. for their emergency service. When the agent arrived (in a timely manner) he diagnosed the core problem, which is a Honeywell SmartValve. Since he didn't have one on hand he took down the information to pass onto the parts department so they could order it. He also showed me a temporary workaround for when the furnace cut-out again. (shaking some wires). He also noted a potentially dangerous situation, a broken exhaust flue. He found a part in his truck, a 2" coupling rubber, and repaired it. The promptness given the late hour was appreciated. The professionalism of the Jacob Brothers technician was superb. The base cost of the visit was fair. HOWEVER, the two inch coupling rubber cost me $120.00! I don't care what time of night it is that repairs are made...that's highway robbery. If we weren't in the middle of such a cold winter I wouldn't use Jacob Bros for the replacement of the Smart Valve, especially since I've been quoted a cost just short of $500 for the valve (not labor inclusive) and found it online for less than $200.00. But, I'm over a barrel and have to get this fixed.
Description of Work: Arrived promptly on a late-night emergency call, diagnosed the core problem (furnace smart valve), found a broken flue exhaust pipe and repaired it. Showed a work-around for the sporadic furnace shutdown while he had his shop order the part.
