We received bids from at least 4 HVAC vendors and are very happy we decided on Jacob Brothers. Their bid was well organized and gave us options that impacted the price. The final price was discounted because we are members of Angie's List. They showed up on time with a professional and friendly crew. They got the old furnace removed and replaced in one day with very little interruption to the heating of the house. The A/C unit was installed the next day and tested. The installer says he will return in the spring/summer to better test the unit when the weather is warmer. We are impressed with Jacob Brother's professionalism and work quality. They are highly recommended by us.

I'm sorry to have to leave a negative review like this, but when a salesman sits at my kitchen table, asks me two or three questions about my windows and fireplaces, and tells me that he is doing a Manual J Load Calculation, I think people should be aware of this deception. I am shocked that they are actually allowed to tell prospective customers that they are doing that calculation, when obviously they aren't. Additionally, I was rather annoyed at the start of the "presentation," when I had to listen to how their employees are required to do a missions trip to Honduras. I was also asked as to what my religious faith was. WHAT??? There was way too much time spent showing me all this material about what a great company they are. I just wanted the man to give me a price on a new A/C. Frankly, the whole experience was disturbing, and shame on them for lying about doing a Manual J.

It went fine. They came the day after I bought it. The cost would have been the only thing that they could have done to completely get an "A." I liked their professionalism, speed and how quickly they were able to discuss with me.
Description of Work: I purchased a "Big Deal" for Jacob Bros. Heating & Air Conditioning. It was a service call. They came out a little while later and replaced some stuff for me. It was a service check, cleaning and tune-up.

Mark came out from Jacob Brothers first and, after talking to us for a long time and asking a lot of questions and examining everything about our old air conditioner, furnace, and water heating, taking measurements of our home, and finding out exactly what we wanted, he explained all our buying options and the prices involved. Since we had recently sold a house that was on the market for a year and had been holding two mortgages at once for all that time, we were worried about the cost, and Mark told us about the financing Jacob Brothers offers. He told us about three purchase options that were along the lines of what we were looking for, the prices of each, and all our payment and financing options. He was extremely helpful. We ended up choosing the most expensive plan, simply because it was what we really wanted and because we plan to stay in our current house for a very long time. Also because we qualified for their financing plan and it offered us a year to pay off everything without interest, which we believe we can do. After meeting with Mark, the next day or the day after that, the technicians from Jacob brothers, three very nice, respectful, and informative men, came out and politely installed our new Heat Pump, High Efficiency Furnance, and Water Heater. They installed a new programmable thermostat and then cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. They took two or three days altogether. They even fixed a small problem with our back gate! When they were done, they explained everything about how to care for the Heat Pump, Furnace, and Water Heater, and about how to program the programmable thermostat. They stood over us and made sure we knew how to do everything, told us to call if we had any problems at all, and then quietly and politely left. After they left, the house was clean and neat and you couldn't even tell that workmen had been there and something had just been installed. It was the most pleasant experience I've ever had with technicians in my life. Since then it's been two weeks and there has been NOT A SINGLE GLITCH with the systems they installed. The temperature and humidity in the house consistently stay EXACTLY ON the temperature degree and humidity percentage we have them set for, every single time I look. It's amazing, really. It's amazing to experience, to be honest.
Description of Work: My husband and I bought an old house with an old furnace (28 years old), air conditioner (32 years old), and water heater (20 years old). All three had been causing us problems repeatedly for a year, with repeated service calls to various providers (NOT Jacob Brothers) and repairs that consistently only lasted a few weeks to a few months, so that we kept ending up sitting in the heat in the Kentucky summers or the cold of winter, taking cold baths, and suffering over and over again. We finally decided to bite the bullet and replace all three. We found Jacob Brothers on Angie's List and since it came highly rated, we went with them for the company to replace the three pieces of equipment..

Jacob was very professional and knowledgeable about this business and offered me several options for replacing my furnace. I needed the furnace installed quickly, and he was able to get me scheduled for the service in two days. Perry and Morgan arrived promptly , and did a professional job with the installation of the furnace. They also installed a new digital programmable thermostat as well. They removed the old furnace from the house and everything is now working well.

My father was glad the tech could fix the problem. But he had no idea that the price would be so high. When I later called to speak to the owner, Gary Jacob, to ask for an itemized bill, he said that the service charge was $133 for the call and the rest was the capacitor part + labor. When I asked the price of the capacitor he replaced, he claimed he had no idea. Who owns a company but cannot locate the cost of a piece of equipment that his employees surely uses every day? I feel like the company took advantage of my father being elderly, and the fact that it was a Saturday, to price gouge. I am outraged! Moreover, a quick Google search found A/C capacitors to be about $25. And a quick Angie's list search shows another Cincinnati HVAC company (the very 1st one under HVAC, "Bockrath Heating & Cooling) charged their customer $210 for a Sunday call on July 19, 2015 to replace a capacitor WITH extra coolant added. (And that customer felt like he was overcharged!)
Description of Work: My 75 year old father called Jacob Bros on a Saturday afternoon because the A/C was not cooling. They said the capacitor was blown and replaced it. No coolant or other servicing was needed, but they charged him an outrageous $440!!! Even for a weekend call, this price is outrageously above market.

The process started well, with excellent phone support and appointment setting. Then they missed their first appointment - BUT, honored their missed appointment guarantee of $250. When the technicians arrived, they were courteous and professional. The installation had a few issues being in a tight attic space, and most were resolved quickly. Though we hadn't noticed, the technicians were honest and advised that they'd accidentally stepped onto the ceiling drywall and cracked it - in the garage and also the dining room ceilings. We were assured that the company would take care of it . The rest of the installation went well, and being winter, they reminded us to call in the spring for a final system check once warm enough to fully test the system. When we brought the drywall contractor in to fix the step-through's in the ceiling, he advised that he could not fix the area around the new return air duct, as it had been installed unevenly and was nearly an inch below the ceiling height on one corner. I called T&G again, and they sent a more experienced technician to reinstall the return air duct. He did an excellent job, and was very personable and courteous - as all the technicians were. We did finally get the ceiling drywall finished and were reimbursed for that by T&G. Spring came and we called for a technician for the final run-in check of the A/C. Another terrific technician arrived, and all was good. The unit cools very well and is much quieter than that old system. We can even control the thermostat from our cell phone. The only remaining issue is the Duke rebate promised by the salesman. We opted for an efficient system that came with a $250 rebate from Duke Energy. I realize that T&G does not control Duke, but since only the contractor can submit the rebate claim to Duke, my only contact is with T&G. I've called about once per month - now 7 months, and still no rebate. It is still unresolved as of 7/10/2015.

This was a tricky job because the house is on three levels (approx 2100 sq ft) and there was no existing ducting in the walls. Jack and Ralph (the owner) worked with us to come up with a creative plan to run the new duct work with as little damage to the walls as possible. Some areas of the floor plan were difficult to access. They came prepared with well-thought-out ideas and were very upfront with us on their plans even before we signed on the dotted line. To give an idea on the scope of the job: I had to provide my own new electrical and only minimal plumbing work for the condensate. The gas line was already there, so little plumbing work needed for that. We also had to provide the finish work to box in the ducting in one place where it had to be run below the ceiling. They removed the boiler but we removed the old baseboard pipes and did the patching. They ran ducting and put registers in all nine rooms of the house. The guys who installed it all worked very hard and were always prompt and professional. They took pride in their work, answering every concern. Both Jack and Ralph came by a few times while the crew was here to personally check in and make sure all was well. We did get two quotes on this job, and theirs was right in there with the other bid. (Two other companies came to the house for a quote but did not have the ability to do such a big job.) We had to wait a long time for their availability but it took only a week and a half to finish with three guys working all day. They left the old heat pump equipment for us to sell for a couple thousand dollars. They are the best contractors I have ever worked with.
Description of Work: Removed 52-year-old boiler for old baseboard radiant heating and removed a newer dual system heat pump/air conditioning system, and then installed new forced air heating and air conditioner.

Jacob Bros were very professional. Our air conditioner had stopped working and they were very knowledgeable in diagnosing the problem. The A coil in the furnace was failing, causing ice buildup. They did a great job replacing the A coil and getting our AC back up and running. Highly recommend them.

The salesman was very professional and explained how each equipment worked and gave me an estimate before he left...The installers were AAAAAA+++++++++ very nice, fast and cleaned up afterwards.. My equipment was 4200 because I got the seer 16 like 2 upgrades from the one I had.. Iam also getting a 200 rebate back... Also they have 10 year warranty on their parts and 10 year warranty on labor..

My entire experience with this company has been terrible from the word go. My original date of service was sometime in the late summer/early fall of 2013 when they "serviced" my furnace. The net result of this service was that my gas pressure was turned down so low that our furnace couldn't heat our house and barely kept the temperatures in the 50s until we got a competent technician to come out and fix the damage that Thomas and Galbraith did. Shockingly, as soon as the furnace actually started burning the right amount of fuel, the house warmed right up and all was well. To make up for this, Thomas and Galbraith offered me a free service of my air conditioner, which I stupidly took them up on, and that's the service that occurred 4/9/2015. The tech was there for approximately 15 minutes, and then spent another 10 or so talking to my wife about the unit. He stated that the unit was grossly under pressure due to leaking coolant and that it would need to be replaced to function, and offered to quote the job. He then collected a check for the service that was supposed to be free and was on his merry way. We got quotes for a new AC unit from a few companies, and the first quote we got the tech was incredulous about the service we paid for. The unit hadn't been properly cleaned, which is necessary to check the pressures the tech said were out of whack. The interior unit hadn't even been opened - there were a couple cobwebs where it was showing that the tech hadn't even touched it. The person from the new company did a quick inspection and cleaning of the unit and told us that the diagnosis was accurate and the coolant was leaking, but a simple recharge would get it up and running just fine and even had it running before he left just to prove it out. To add insult to injury, after realizing that we'd paid for the free service, I called their main office about an hour after the tech left to have them catch the check and they said they'd return it to me. I'm sitting on hold with them right now, 6 days later, to let them know that the check posted and that I'll be needing a refund. Net: the company botched my furnace cleaning, didn't actually perform my free AC cleaning, told me my AC was dead and offered to sell me a new one, charged me for the free AC cleaning anyway, and then deposited my money when I alerted them to the problem the same day. Literally every contact I've had with this company has turned out bad. Go hire someone, ANYONE else and you'll be better off.
Description of Work: Provider was asked to perform annual maintenance and service of central air conditioning. This involves cleaning the unit inside and out, checking pressure of the system, etc.

I called the provider not expected anyone to answer and someone did at 3:30 am. She sent a technician out (who came out on bad roads) and he arrived cheerful and competent. Did a really good job.

Ralph Jacob was very knowledgeable. He came out and inspected our house's current heating / air conditioning. Came up with a reasonable proposal. He also did a lot of unexpected little things which made the whole process easier for us (for example he facilitated the $200 rebate from Duke Energy for geothermal heat pump installation). The people working for him were also very professional and seemed to do more then was expected. For example the one for the installers noticed that the weather seal on my front door was torn and he fixed it (no charge).

I liked their honesty and he worked on the line several times. He wanted to make sure the line was clear and even called another associate for help. He was able to get a lot of roots and stuff out of the line for me.

Technician knew what the problem was due to my detailed analysis of problem. He spent all of 5 minutes to clear the drain line inside the furnace by blowing into it and reattaching the line. Technician then spent at least 15 minutes in his truck to write up the invoice. I was charged $89.99 for the trip fee which I was told was standard. My final bill was $128.00....I was shocked that for 5 minutes of work I would pay $128.00. That's more than I could afford. Since the technician spent more time writing up the invoice that he did to resolve the problem...I was upset. I contacted the owner/manager at the Beechmont office and was told that was their standard fee. How is it that writing up an invoice takes 15 minutes when the fix took 5 minutes and they never broke a sweat or used their own tools. I won't call them again....I feel that this was price gouging, especially in our depressed economy for a senior citizen like myself. I can't afford to pay these rates.
Description of Work: Technician arrived at appointment time, used my tools to open up front cover on heating unit, discovered the drain line had come undone, blew into it to clear the line and reattached line.

I spoke to [member name removed] and she agreed that she was quoted $89.00 for a trip charge. She originally said that our service technician was only there 5 minutes. I then pointed out that the GPS in that service vehicle proved in fact that our technicians was there for 30 minutes. The only additional charge for the 30 minutes that we were there was $39.00 which she thought was way too much. I’m sorry [member name removed] thinks that an additional charge of $39.00 is too much. I think the charge is more than reasonable and very competitive with what other heating and air conditioning contractors would charge. In fact with what things cost today I believe any service company would charge that much or more.
