Terminix - Fairfield -Termite & Pest Control

They are prompt about coming out and addressing any problem what I might have. I am not sure that their price is the best I can get.

I know the guy by name and he has been coming here for years. He will let me know ahead of time when he is coming and he knows every bug that in existence. He is super knowledgeable. He always leaves a note as to what he did and what he saw. He saw some worms on one of my pines. He couldn?t treat for it, but he pointed them out and told me to get them treated. He came last week to do all the outside. I saw some black ants in my kitchen and I called him. He came back within a day of my calling and sprayed again. That is the nice things about them; satisfaction guarantee. They would come back and retreat for free.

Jason came out to do a free inspection. He found evidence of termite activity, and it seemed to him to be recent activity beyond any warranty I might have had when the previous owners sold me the house in 2009. He explained my options in great detail, assuring me that Terminix had the best chemicals, chemicals that have been lab-tested to last at least 16 years after the initial treatment. He told me that it would cost $199 a year to have a warranty last beyond the initial year, though, and that the $199 per year included at least bi-annual check-ups by Terminix staff. I saw that other Angie's List members had complained that the yearly price they were paying had increased over time, and that I should ask if the price would increase. Jason said the price hadn't increased in five years. Jason gave me a 10% discount from the Terminix web site, which was equal to the Angie's List discount, making the initial treatment on a 160-foot linear foot structure $1040 before tax. When I asked about stopping the $199 charge after the first couple years, to his credit Jason said in fact that's what he did with his own house. Also to their credit, Jason sent Fred out that very day, not two hours later, to perform the treatment. I have no idea what constitutes a good job or not, I guess time will tell, but Fred did ask questions about getting around the deck that made it hard to put treatment next to the house's foundation, so I have every reason to believe he did a conscientious job. So it seemed like things were done well, even if I have to wait to find out for sure, and the price still seems expensive, a little less so after the discount. But the stories Jason related about other companies suggest that you get what you pay for in termite control. ***UPDATE 5/8/11 Terminix mystery A recent discovery raises several questions about how Terminix dealt with me recently. Maybe Terminix will have good answers, but their actions could represent negligence or fraud on their part. I will keep Angie?s List viewers posted. I bought my house in August, 2009. I just discovered that the previous owners had a Terminix treatment in May, 2009 and had a transferrable warranty. The Terminix sales representative told me that, once treated, Terminix treatments are lab tested to last at least 16 years, as long as the treatment was done right. If they did a treatment in May, 2009, and I had recent activity during Terminix?s free inspection in May, 2011, what happened? Did Terminix not do the treatment right in 2009? The sales representative had seen where the house had been treated for termites ?a long time ago.? It turns out that ?long time ago? was 2009. But the sales representative saw tunnels that he said were ?recent activity?. Were they wrong about the activity being recent, and all they were seeing was old activity from 2009, so I didn?t need a new $1000-plus treatment after all? The sales representative said that a warranty comes with at least bi-annual inspections. I don?t remember Terminix ever coming to my house. If the previous owners had a treatment with transferrable warranty in May, 2009, and I moved in during August, why did Terminix not come at least once while I was the owner? Surely they didn?t come twice during June and July before I took possession. If they didn?t come for follow-up inspections, how, then, can they be sure the activity wasn?t present between May, 2009 and May, 2010, while the previous owners? warranty was in effect? Terminix warranties are one year, renewable with a fee. The sales representative said my fee for the second year would be $199. I had seen on Angie?s List that other Angie?s List subscribers complained that Terminix fees keep increasing, so I asked my sales representative about that. He said the fee had been fixed at $199 for years. I asked my neighbors across the street, and they confirmed what Angie?s List people said: that the fees kept rising over time. So who is mistaken? Cost of the warranty aside, I wonder about the transferability of the warranty. If the previous owners had a 1-year warranty (and it?s even conceivable that they had a two-year warranty that would cover me), and that warranty expired in May, 2010, what happened to it? Surely Terminix wanted a renewal fee to extend the warranty another year. Did they send the warranty to the previous owner, whose forwarding address had it sent to their new house, leaving me without the opportunity to renew? At the moment these are just questions, but they are disconcerting questions. I will update Angie?s List readers when and if I find out more. Until these mysteries are cleared up, I will change my ratings of the quality of work done and professionalism to reflect these uncertainties. ***UPDATE 5/9/11. Terminix Headquarters told me that the previous owners of my house treated it, got a transferrable warranty, then immediately canceled it. So that's why I was left without a warranty. They haven't gotten back to me about why the treatment in 2009 didn't take, or whether I didn't need another treatment because the damage they saw was old. ***UPDATE 5/12/11. Jason, who did the inspection, spoke with me. He said that Terminix surely did its job in 2009, and the treatment does last 16 years if it's done right, but that they don't guarantee the work. He says the activity was recent, and the 2009 treatment probably didn't last because of "conditions". He was frustrated for me that the previous owners canceled the warranty, even though they said the house came with a transferrable warranty. He thinks it was worthwhile for me to have the house treated again for over $1000 two years later so I can be sure the problem is taken care of. My take? One of two things is true: either I didn't have recent activity, just the stuff from 2009, or the 2009 treatment wasn't done properly. ***UPDATE 6/1/11 My two-year transferrable warranty arrived a few days ago. I had treatment done the last day of April, but my warranty somehow began on April 1. And I don't think it's an April Fool's joke: they really are shorting me a month of my warranty on top of the other insults.

We pay yearly because we get a better rate. They have always been very responsive when we have called. We had carpenter ants and they came out and took care of them and didn't give us any flax because we didn't have the termite control with them. We even captured a giant spider once and Mary, our lady, came and took it away for us. She's great.

They are a good company and they did a good job. They came the same day that I called them.

After he left, I checked what he said were termites and determined he was wrong. Shortly thereafter, we discovered some evidence of termite damage inside our home. We got a thorough inspection and quote from another company for a similar amount and had that second company provide treatment. We believe the Terminix person was simply a saleman without the background to adequately inspect and identify termites.

The initial treatment requires substantial prep work of homeowner by moving all property from the perimeter of the basement in from walls three feet. I suggest you ask up front what exactly is included in the contract and what can you expect down the road and lock in a timeframe for the renewal fee and any increase to it.

We stopped using them because we had a problem. I think their price was reasonable. Everything was okay with them. If we had a problem, they would come out and check everything. We had some problem with the location of the new unit, but they wouldn?t do anything about it.

I called them and they came out right away and sprayed, it got rid of the wasp problem right away. There was no charge because it was included in the fee for them to come out every 3 months.

They seemed to be the most reputable company. They respond right away when I need them.

I am not sure that I get my money's worth. For one, we are under termite protection and general insect protection. They don't tell you that if you have carpenter ants you are not covered. If something is eating at the house it has to be termites, you are not warned that carpenter ants can do the same damaged, but you are not covered. We had a problem that was resolved prior to us buying the house, but when found still Terminix basically said it wasn't their problem. I think for a lot of other stuff they basically come around every quarter and spray here and there, but I'm not sure if it actually has made a difference. We are deciding now if we will continue to use them.

The initial treatment didn't work out well so they had to come back and retreat them. We don't have any problems with termites and there is no recurrence for so many years. They come for the annual inspection now. We had a good experience.

Terminex is really good at what they do. They are always on time and great with the maintenance of keeping insects out of my home. We will continue to use this company in the future.

Every time I show them some damage they keep telling me that it is an old damage. They do come free of charge whenever I call them, which I don?t. They call and let me know that it is time for inspection. They told me that I have ants and tried to sell me some new service, but I told them that I don?t have any ants in my house. I would continue to use them in future.

They are very good about being consistent. They call before the appointment to give us a time frame when we should expect them. They are respectful and communicate very well with us. We are very happy with the results and will use them in the future.

They came out a month before and gave us an estimate and also explained what and how the work would be done. They also sprayed the treatment around our garage for free. They have treated all around the house and also go through ground, and they have also been back to follow up. They have it redone if you find any termites. The person that came out to do the work was honest and very forth coming. He was professional, responsive and punctual. I felt that we were in good hands because he was honest and calming and made us feel that he wanted our business. They gave us the best deal.

The person who was coming all these days was wonderful. He will not be coming anymore and I am so disappointed about it. We have been using this firm for the last 20 years. They spray inside, outside, basement and also in the garage. They call me in advance and say when they are coming. I am very satisfied with their service.

They will call me when its time for the annual inspection. They come at the time they say they will. They are knowledgeable and know what they are looking for.

I have been using them for four years and I have had good experiences with them. They are very professional and friendly. They are always able to answer our questions. Sometimes they have trouble keeping appointments, but they are usually on time. Overall, I am satisfied.

Terminix schedules regular inspections. They look carefully at the property when they are out. The inspector found carpenter bees the last time he was there and treated them. I don't have to be home and they take care of whatever needs to be done.

Terminex does a good job, they just have trouble with scheduling. They are a friendly company. I know that they are just trying to do their job. If the scheduling works out better we will continue to use them.

They arrived on time to do the work. The quality of their work was good. I would use their services in the future. They were professional while worked.

THEY ARE CONSISTENT AND THOROUGH AND DO GOOD WORK AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

I live in a wooded area, so if I didn't have Terminix I'd be buggy! Any time I've called they've been right there, anything I've asked they've always done it.

Everything went okay. Both the sales person and the crew showed up much earlier than our expected appointments, which would have been fine if they had called, but they did not call first. We would advise everyone getting termite treatments to read the contract carefully. We were not aware that new concrete construction around a house could break the termite protection seal and void a contract with a pest control company.
