All of the people that I dealt with at this company were very professional and knowledgeable. Phone calls were always returned promptly if not answered right away. I chose this company over others even though it was more expensive because of the reviews I read on Angie's List. I was not disappointed. Scheduling the job was a bit of a problem because I was out of town a lot and then there was a long period or rain which put the workers behind schedule. None of this was their fault. Once the weather cleared everything went smoothly. I would definitely recommend Ray St. Clair Roofing even though it is more expensive than some of the other roofing companies. Their professionalism was worth the extra price.

In October, 2006, Ray St. Clair Roofing did an excellent job with a complete tear-off and reroof of our home, as well as replacing all our existing gutters with new Gutter Helmet clog-preventive gutters. The roof and all its fixtures, as well as the new gutter system, performed very well. During the particularly cold and snowy/icy winter of 2013-14, we experienced some persistent water leakage down one inside wall of the family room, most often during ?thaws? in the weather. Once spring had arrived, we contacted Ray St. Clair about the problem, and after some investigation, it was determined that we were getting some icing underneath the shingles on the lower roof over the family room. Some tree debris on the roof, from earlier storms, was also contributing to the problem. In May, 2014, Ray St. Clair removed the tree debris, increased protective coatings, etc. to the flashing, adjusted the downspout connecting the upper roof runoff to the lower roof gutter and installed a new 120-foot electric deicer cable on the lower roof over the family room, to keep ice from forming in freezing weather, letting the melted snow flow easily into the gutter. Josh Vose, the Project Coordinator, was extremely helpful in helping diagnose the problem, as well as making sure the job was done well. In late November, 2014, Josh was also very helpful in performing a ?clean-up? of the area of the roof surrounding and including the deicer cable and upper-to-lower downspout area, to make sure that accumulated leaves and other debris would not hamper the new deicer cable?s operation and would not adversely affect the draining of melted snow/ice from the roof area once the freezing weather arrived. During that winter, the deicer cable performed very well, but we experienced icicles forming below the wall near the inside edge of the lower gutter, next to the house, with water dripping from the icicles when they thawed. In March, 2015, we had Josh check out the problem, and he got Robert Fitzpatrick, one of Ray St. Clair?s Quality Control technicians involved. It was determined that ice had been forming in the lower gutter or at angles in the downspouts, hampering the flow of the melted water from the deicer cables and the roof runoff. Both Josh and Robert were careful to explain that this problem was nearly impossible to predict at the time the earlier deicer cable was installed ? it was something that had to be discovered through experience under actual weather conditions. To help correct the matter, Robert installed an additional 80-foot deicer cable inside the lower gutter and downspout, and also the downspout above, which feeds water from the upper roof to the lower gutter. He also beefed up the gutter sealing and flashing protection. Given that Ray St. Clair had originally installed the present roof and gutter system, and had been the only ones maintaining it since that time, they gave us a very reasonable price for the additional work. During the spring, summer and fall of 2015, we noticed that, at times of heavy rain, an appreciable amount of water would flow down next to the house at approximately the same place we experienced the ice formation during the previous winter. Luckily, this resulted in only very tiny amounts of water in the basement. Since we had a few other major home projects to accomplish, we delayed contacting Ray St. Clair until early November of this year, but wanted something done before the snow and ice (and, if untreated, icicles) began. We contacted Josh Vose again, and discussed with both him and Robert Fitzpatrick our theory that water flowing from above was entering underneath the downspout assembly on the lower roof and flowing through the ?trough? created between the downspout assembly and the wall of the house. We provided them photos of that area of the roof to help their analysis. The following Monday, November 16, Robert came out, cleaned the roof area of leaves and debris, surveyed the situation, made some tests with a hose, and in a very short time, installed a solution to the problem! He adjusted the clearance of the downspout assembly so that it would not trap leaves beneath or against it, which contributed to the problem, and installed some diverters higher up in the ?trough? area, to divert the water from the ?trough? out toward the center of the roof (and away from the side of the house), where it would then flow normally into the gutter below. While we watched, he took out the hose and shot a heavy, continuous stream of water high up on the roof, letting it flow down to the affected area for a few minutes. This time, there was absolutely no flow of water next to the house, with all the water following the diverter out onto the main part of the roof and into the gutter. Problem solved! We feel confident that, with the addition of the extra deicer cable this past spring, and this latest fix, we should have no problems this coming winter. Once again, Robert Fitzpatrick, Josh Vose and Ray St. Clair Roofing proved their experience, expertise and professionalism! And when we asked when we might expect the invoice for the day?s service call, we were very surprised (and very pleased!) when Robert told us there would be no charge whatsoever! He told us that, in light of our recent history, and since the roof was originally installed and had been maintained by Ray St. Clair, to consider it ?Warranty Work.? Now that?s what we call Taking Care of the Customer! We heartily recommend Ray St. Clair Roofing, and their people!

I had three estimate. Theirs was the highest and I went with them anyway. I had a lot of trouble with my old roof and Ray St. Clair's proposal seemed like the most complete and thorough solution. I also liked the company's reputation and professionalism. They started on schedule, cleaned up after themselves every day and completed the job on schedule. After the installation their quality control inspector sent a technician back to take care of a couple of issues that I did not even know about. It has been a very rainy summer since the new roof was installed and there has not been a single leak or any other problem. I recommend this company. They are courteous and professional and they do good work.

Ray St Clair did an excellent job working with me and my family to resolve a problem we were having with water intruding into the home through a bay window. They were the second company we called, after the first fell short of expectations. We should have called them first. Though we did have to wait a couple of weeks for them to be available, we were very pleased with the experience. They provided multiple options and price points for us to decide on, and answered all of our questions on scope of work. The workmen that came to our home were polite and professional around my family (even while my toddler would not stop staring at them through the window in front of where they were working). They finished the job quickly and cleanly, and the siding work they did around my window looks much better than I expected. I did discover an issue after the first rainfall. Water was shooting off of my roof over the rain guard due to high volume from an upper-level downspout. I could not fix the problem myself, so I called about my problem and requested an estimate for routing the upper downspout through the guard, and they came out very fast and fixed the problem without additional charge.
Description of Work: Investigated source of water entry into home, repaired and installed siding on bay window, cleaned gutters, installed debris guard on gutters.

I had four estimates from Roofers and 2 of the four said we needed a new roof with estimates between $7400 and $5800. Ray St. Clair said that all we needed was some minor repairs and that THE ROOF STILL HAD SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE NEEDING REPLACEMENT. Ray St. Clair did the repairs for $507 and they were on-time, professional and did a great job.

Every thing was subcontracted. After finally starting 2 weeks after promised date, it took another 2 weeks to get the majority of the work done. It took an extra three weeks to get them to finish the job. About two years later I shot blown insulation in my attic and found the five added roof vents they "installed" were nailed onto the roof without cutting the required hole to let it vent! Nice.

We had the work of siding and trim done back in January. The foreman was excellent and the work was done in a timely manner. Though we noticed that the trim is pulling away from the house and looks bowed. I have called MULTIPLE times to resolve this problem and it seems that no one cares to get back to me on fixing there work that has flawed. Finally after many calls and being on hold for twenty minutes this morning, some is supposed to come out today. We will see how that pans out since I have been trying to contact repairs for three weeks now. With this being said, I believe Ray St. Clair has lost our future business.

After the initial consultation a couple months before I employed Ray St. Clair, I knew I would use them even though their quote was a little more than another company's - Ray St. Clair was more thorough with what was included in their quote and explained things to me on my level. They respected me and didn't recommend services that I didn't want and/or needed. The person who gave me my quote was the same person who worked in my attic. He arrived on time the day he said he would come - before getting to work we went over again what was to be done and then he quickly got to work. Once the insulation was complete, he cleaned up after himself and you wouldn't have even known he had been there. I would recommend Ray St. Clair to anyone needing work done. They're professional, their end product is great and they're just good people.

Really great job on the roof - I was totally impressed with the workmanship. Professional and courteous staff always able and willing to answer my questions. Always communicated about the status of job. Total cleanup of debris during/after the job. The cost was a little more than what I thought I would pay for a roof, but I am thoroughly satisfied and confident that I have a roof that will last me a really long time. I have decided to replace the gutters that were not replaced initially ($1600) but worth it. They have a repeat customer as I will be back to replace my siding.

The guys were punctual and very hard workers. They replaced my roof the week before Thanksgiving. During this time, the weather was very windy, snowing, and freezing rain. They continued working during these awful conditions until the supervisor instructed to stop. It was rare to see anyone of the guys taking a break. They did an excellent job and I love my new roof. They also addressed several issues that I had such as water leakage around a rebuilt chimney and mice getting into my attic. The leakage around my chimney has stopped; they found out how the mice were getting in; sealed openings around my porch; and inspected my attic. They came a couple of times to follow up on some minor issues afterwards and were very responsive. Just last week, they came out to repair some aluminum that became separated from a dormer and the roof due to a severe wind storm. The guy got stung by a wasp as he was repairing it. I would highly recommend this company as they do quality work; work as it they were working on their own house; and they are there to follow up after the job has been completed.

I found Ray St. Clair on Angie'sList. All their personnel are professional. Their quality control is excellent. They have a separate inspection team that came out to verify the work was done correctly. In my case, the inspector found something minor that wasn't quite perfect, and they returned same day to correct it. I think that is a clear demonstration of their quality and their integrity.

This is the second time I have had Ray St Clair work on my home. The first time was to replace a gutter. This second repair was to fix leaks around 2 windows. Josh came out multiple times, giving my 2 separate quotes as I had originally asked for roof work, and then narrowed my request to just fixing the windows. The repair proposed (roof repair, gutter repair and replace one wall of siding) has fixed my problem, the quality of the work seems good, the color of the new siding matches the rest of the house. I cannot honest comment on the price as I could get no-one else to come out and give me an estimate, I assume they felt the work was not enough to justify the effort. However, I feel the price was fair and am happy with the work done.

I purchased a new front door. After looking at several companies the door we purchased was half the price of the competition and every bit the quality. I then had my attic insulated, again saving money compared to the competition. Both the installation crews were very polite. They were careful to protect the surroundings and areas where they were working. As both installations were in progress they kept me updated as to what they were doing and made sure I was happy with the progress. They thoroughly cleaned the work areas and let me inspect the work when finished. The installation in both purchases were perfect and I am very pleased.

Ray St. Clair (not the lowest quote) was selected on the assumption of better workmanship based on its brochures and website information. Actual workmanship however was not up to expectation (I don't know how they compare to others). The installation looked good from the ground but not when looked at more closely. While some problems were due to the need to use drip edge extenders (existing drip edge was under metal valley flashing and also tightly adhered to ice/water guard membrane and to the shingle starter row), others were predominantly due to the installation being done from the roof rather than ladders (although no ladder access problem existed anywhere). In addition, gutter hangers were not installed into roof truss ends (which were not marked after the old gutter was removed) but spaced at about 2-ft intervals into the 1-by-8 fascia with 2 1/2" screws (some may have hit truss ends). Specific workmanship issues are highlighted in the attached photos (some of those shown were repeated elsewhere). The follow-up Quality inspection by Ray St. Clair did not find a number of these issues. After reviewing the additional problems agreement was reached for the follow-up work. A team showed up about two weeks later (without notification) and started to fix some of the correctable problems (only had a limited amount of time before their quitting time). Based on that effort, when contacted by Ray St. Clair to schedule the next visit I requested that they provide material to finish the work myself (material was provided later that same day). In doing the work myself, I also found that a few of the gutter hanger screws and gutter screws placed midway between hangers were on the verge of stripping out of the fascia.
