It went fine. We used them again, so we do like them. They are punctual. They clean up after themselves, which is nice because there's a lot of selling going on. The product is a good product. One side of our fence has been there since 1990, and it still looks good.

We were very pleased with the quality of workmanship. A neighbor kid broke a section of the fence a year later and getting replacement pickets that matched the fence took just a phone call. (The kid and his dad did the work.)

Elyria Fence sent someone out to give us a quote on the fence. They worked with us on the design and even contacted the city about local building codes. The actual work took two days - one to set the posts and one to put up the fence. One guy did the whole thing. The fence looks great and they were very helpful with tips on maintenance.

This is the fourth time we have used Elyria Fence for various projects. In the past we used them for ornamental fence in our front yard and a large gate to our back yard. We had them install a privacy fence last summer and decided we wanted to add on to it. Greg (salesperson/estimator) gave us a price and we agreed. They did an excellent job as they have in the past. They are not the lowest price fence company, but the quality of work and the excellence of their crews make it worth the price. We did have to work out some scheduling issues due to weather, their work load and our job being relatively small (this time), but the communication was excellent. If we ever need more fencing, we would not even call anyone else!

Completed in one-day's time by one individual. Very professional.

Went well when meeting with the sales person. However, when it came to installation . . . First it took nearly 6 weeks for them to receive the material. Next, the sent an independent contractor (1 person) to do the installation. First problem was when the sales person indicated that we leave the existing posts in the ground (which the installer said cannot be done). Elyria Fence dictated that the installer dig out the posts. Then, it took the installer 4 or 5 days to install the railing--it was not a big job. Then they had to order the 'boots' around the bottom portion of the posts which took another week. The posts are currently 24" above the rest of the railing which we had requested be cut down--still not complete. Then the 3 angles of the railing were installed 'turned around'. We requested they be fixed. The installer argued that they are correct (which they are not). Still looking for a resolution from Elyria Fence.

Bill was great when he came out to meet with me, answering all the questions I knew to ask and giving me different cost options. I had an issue with property lines, so from start to finish the process took a month which considering the time of year I thought was not unreasonable. Being a novice fence owner, I had a couple of concerns which Bill came out and addressed immediately upon my contacting him. He had a worker at my house the next day to take care of minor issues. They don't stain or seal and I wish I had thought to question that at the time of the first meeting. Also be sure to specify who does cleanup.

Earlier this year we contacted many fencing companies for quotes & information. Elyria Fence was only one of two companies who could build the fence to our specifications. What sat Elyria Fence apart was that they also do the permit & paperwork for you. Although Elyria Fence was slightly higher than their competitor I felt it was worth the extra money so I didn?t have to bother with the paper work. Several months went by before we actually acted on having a fence installed. We provided our deposit & were advised that it would be about 3-4 before they could start the job. The wait was closer to 5-6 weeks. I was also a little frustrated that I needed to call a couple times to find out when we would be getting the fence installed. While we were waiting, we also decided to have another fence on our property repaired. I inquired as to the cost to add that in. They gave me a quote & I felt it was a fair price to fix the fence. I requested that they fix the fence at the same time they installed the new one. They finally came out to remove our old fence, place the posts for the new fence & also started the straightening of another fence. They told us that the concrete needed to cure over the weekend. About 4 days after they installed posts, they came out to install the fence. They finished the work that day. After about a week or so of the fence being up, we became concerned about the appearance of the fence they installed. The fence posts (which we initially thought might have been temporary bracing) were rather green. I spoke with the person who gave us the quote. He informed me that the posts were green due to them being pressure treated. He had also said they it would fade away ? eventually ? but could take 2-3 years. I had inquired about having the fence stained hoping he would offer to stain it but he only indicated that the fence was ?stainable.? I wasn?t happy with the results of this conversation & then spoke with Tom Polen the owner of the company. Tom clarified that the green would fade quite significantly between now & next spring. I also asked him about having the fence stained. He indicated that their company doesn?t do that. I then inquired about having him split the cost with me to have the fence stained. Although he didn?t agree to do that, he did agree to have someone come out to ?dress? the posts with boards which match the fence. I?m hopeful that once the posts are covered, our fence will be much more appealing to the eye. Having to do it over again, I wish I would have known that the fence posts were going to be as green as they are. Knowing that, I may have gone with ?between post construction? of our board-on-board fence or perhaps may have gone with double privacy. I do appreciate the company working with me and agreeing to do extra work without a charge. I?m hopeful their means to change the look of the fence is a positive one. Besides the fence post issue, the fence itself looks nice. Our old fence which they repaired is also upright again. I?m recommending them to others because of the flexibility, friendliness & the time they saved me by filing the permit paperwork on my behalf.

Bill was profession, prompt, and took time to explain things to me. We ultimately chose another company who was about $400 less.

If you want the highest quality, you need to call Elyria. They make these trellises in Ohio- the person who comes to install them is a carpenter. Ed did a fantastic job- he is very nice, polite, and genuine. I would highly recommend them to others. They are the best and the quality is the highest!

I called the company on March 26 and the estimator, Greg Hebble came out the next day. He was very professional and gave me a copy of the contract with his sketch of what was to be done. He told me it would be 6 to 8 weeks before they could do the work, but since I had called during the lower winter-rates period he would base the estimate on those rates even though the actual installation would not occur until later. A few days before the actual installation on May 19, workers from the gas and electric companies came out and marked the areas where their lines ran through the area where the fence would go. (I was impressed by the company's foresight in arranging this to be done.) The installer, Ed, arrived at 9 a.m. He couldn't have been nicer. He told me what he understood the job entailed and asked if his understanding was correct. It was. He explained that he would hand dig the areas that had been marked off by the utility companies to insure the lines would not be disturbed. He then went to work and never stopped, not even for lunch, until he completed the job at 4:30 p.m. I inspected the fence with him and paid him the balance due. When he left he took all the old fencing away for disposal as I had asked. I am delighted with the way the fence looks and with everything about the experience.

The estimator was very pleasant and professional. I was told 6 to 8 weeks took a little longer. I did have to call a couple of times to ask where or when they would be here. They always answered my e-mails and or calls. The fence went in fine. When I called about when the gates would go in and also the piles of dirt and the muddy mess they sent out John who did an excellent job of cleaning it up and attaching the gates.

It went well, overall. The estimator was helpful and came twice to go over details with us. The worker who came to do the posts was here and then it rained and he did not come back the next day. After a few days we had to call to see when they would return. They returned right after that call and finished the whole project in one day. The only problem we had was that the dirt which came from the post holes was left in big piles, which I did not anticipate. We have yet to remove all the dirt (which solidified after the rain), which is killing the grass. There was also some minor damage to a garden where the fence was installed.

I enjoy it very much. They are very good. They are good workers. They do the job right. The merchandise they brought out the first time was damaged. They came and told me you would not be happy with the product. They took it back and brought a better product. They corrected all mishaps with no problem.

I payed a $700 deposit to have fence work done and everything is good so far. The work is scheduled for late July and they were quick to provide the estimate and revise the quote. They will also tear down existing fence.

They walked off the job about 1/2 way through the project. I had an idea of what I wanted. I talked to their sales person at length about it. I had photos and all. They started working and did not meet my expectations. They did not want to listen or check in with the supervisor. When we got into a heated exchange about what they were going to do, they left me a voice mail and told me they were finished with the job because they could not meet my expectations. It was not to my satisfaction. I don't think they wanted to listen to me. They wouldn't show up, wouldn't call at times. I attempted to speak with the owner; he was never available, never returned my calls.

They have pleased up both times we have had them out over the past several years. We were also pleased that they used pieces from the old fence to save us money. They were very reasonable and business like. Very prompt and professional. I would recommend them to anyone.

PRICE QUOTED WAS HIGHEST OF ALL QUOTED; ALMOST TWICE EVERYONE ELSE'S. COMPANY WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL.

THEY WERE VERY NICE TO DEAL WITH AND SHOWED UP ON TIME. WE DECIDED TO GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE OF A LOWER ESTIMATE.

THE WORKMAN WAS LATE BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TIME THE OFFICE SAID HE WAS COMING TO WORK! HE DID A GREAT JOB.

I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN BUT I WOULD WANT TO BE HOME WHEN THEY DID THE WORK. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION WITH THE COMPANY ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE PROJECT. WHEN THEY WERE REMOVING AN OLD FENCE POST, THEY DID IT WITH A BLOW TORCH AND THE DID NOT USE A WELDING SHIELD. THE RESULT WAS THAT THEY MELTED A PLASTIC FOUNDATION WATER PROOFING DEVICE. THEY DID COME BACK TO FIX IT, BUT IT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN AVOIDED ALL TOGETHER.

JOHN (THE INSTALLER) DID AN EXCEPTIONAL, QUALITY JOB EVEN CONSIDERING HAVING TO WORK AROUND LARGE TREES AND SOME OVERGROWTH. HE WORKED UNTIL 8 PM ONE NIGHT. THEY EXCEED MY EXPECTATIONS AS NO OTHER ANGIE'S LIST COMPANY HAS EVER COME CLOSE TO DOING.

THEY ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE QUOTE BUT THEY BY FAR SEEM TO BE THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE. HOWEVER, THE ESTIMATOR SAID HE HAD BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR A LONG TIME AND HE WAS OFF IN HIS MEASUREMENTS BY 25 FT AND ANOTHER BY 50 FT, AND HE WAS BASING HIS QUOTE ON THIS. HIS EQUIPMENT FOR MEASURING WAS FALLING APART. OTHER QUOTES WERE IN A FEW FEET OF EACH OTHER. HE WAS REALLY PUTTING TOO MUCH PRESSURE FOR THE SALE.

WE WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THE FENCE TO BE INSTALLED WHICH CONCERNED US SINCE WE HAD ALREADY PAID FOR IT. ONCE THEY GOT STARTED IT WAS COMPLETED AS EXPECTED. THE QUALITY OF THE INSTALLATION WAS REALLY GOOD. I THINK WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE JOB DONE FOR LESS THOUGH.

WE MADE OUR DEPOSIT THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER AND WERE TOLD THE FENCE WOULD BE INSTALLED IN 6-8 WEEKS. 6-8 WEEKS CAME AND WENT WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A PHONE CALL. WE TRACKED THEM DOWN (THEY DID NOT RETURN OUR INITIAL CALLS) AND FINALLY GOT A COMMITMENT FOR THE POSTS. I GRACIOUSLY EXPLAINED HOW POORLY WE HAD BEEN TREATED AND THE OWNER (TOM) ADMITTED THEIR MISTAKES. HE COMMITTED THAT THE FENCING WOULD BE DONE 3-4 DAYS AFTER THE POSTS WERE SET. 3-4 DAYS CAME AND WENT WITHOUT A PHONE CALL. FINALLY, THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING (11 DAYS LATER)THEY CALLED TO SAY THEY WOULD BE OUT THAT DAY. WHEN I COMPLAINED AND OFFERED THEM A CHANCE TO MAKE IT RIGHT, THEY OFFERED A $125 CREDIT OFF OUR $3425 JOB. I TOLD THEM I WAS INSULTED AND THEY DID NOTHING. THEN, TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THEY CALLED ASKING FOR THEIR MONEY BEFORE EVEN SENDING AN ADJUSTED BILL. STAY AWAY. WHEN THE OWNER IS UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO MEET HIS OWN COMMITMENTS, WHY WOULD YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE?
