Horrible customer service! Our fence replacement was quoted (in person) in February, and contracted (with deposit paid) in June. At that point, they told us it would be 12 weeks for installation. Later, based on info provided by salesman, we re-arranged vacation travel plans to accommodate installation week of September 24th. Nothing. Now, they say it could MAYBE be late October. By phone, "Mike" said we would be placed on the "Ooops!" list (suggesting expedited service). Two more phone calls later, still nothing. I've never seen a more indifferent, argumentative approach to customer relations.

Elyria Fence was great to work with from start to finish. More expensive that other quotes and a longer wait, but well worth that for the quality of materials, design and installation. Greg Hebble is very professional and easy to work with. He came out promptly for an estimate in late June. Due to high demand over the summer season, the fence was completed in early October. We increased the scope of work over the phone as two adjoining neighbors agreed to extend the fence into their yards. The removal of old cedar and chain link fence was done very quickly by Efram, and he installed the new pressure treated posts extremely accurately . About a week later, a team of three, Brian, Colleen and Matt crafted the fence sections and gate and installed them with great precision and an eye for detail. Sections were attached to posts with screws instead of nails. They even crafted small attractive cedar sections to fill in gaps to an existing metal post and a telephone pole. The area was left clean. All three neighbors are very pleased with the result. I provided the fence post caps and staining from different sources. Finally, Greg returned to the site to verify the final scope of the project and make a modest downward adjustment on the price. Honesty, integrity and high quality work were worth the higher price.

They were several months late on the installation. After they were finished I had a horrible mess with mud all over my decking. The caps on the posts were crooked. I complained twice and they did absolutely nothing about it. Not even a phone call.

It went fine. The installers were great. I didn't get to see the railings ahead of time, I wish I would have. They are larger than I anticipated. There were adjustments after the original plan was made and they were very accommodating and patient. The installation was on time and they came back the next day to finish. They cleaned up after themselves and were neat and tidy. The railings are very sturdy. I would recommend their service.

Crew did excellent work. Left job site clean and orderly each day. Would definitely recommend them.

The whole project went very well, from the initial consultation to the final installation. Every time I emailed the company, they responded within 24 hours. All of the crew members who performed the work were professional, friendly, and courteous. After the installation, I had a couple of minor things that needed to be corrected. I contacted the company, and they came out within 48 hours to make the corrections.

The man that came out was on time, very nice and very professional. The woman that I spoke to on the phone to set up the estimate was also very nice, accomidating and professional. The quote was simply far more than we could afford at this. However, when we can fit it in the budget, we will be hiring them to do the job.

They were wonderful and they did a very good job. We did have a few issues when they were done but they came right out and fixed them. I would suggest other members to use this company. They were easy to work with and willing to customize the fence to our design. Lots of good suggestions. I would use them again.

They told us it could not be done and quoted us to remove our neighbor's fence, instead. Even if we wanted to remove our neighbor's fence, we would not have paid as much money as they quoted us. It was pretty clear they didn't want the job.

Elyria Fence did a good job. They had promised it would be done by Friday but it was not completed until Tuesday. When the installers left they also left the gates wide open which, had I not checked immediately, could have been bad as my dogs could have gotten loose. Other than that I had no complaints.

Ordered a gate to be installed and paid my down payment requires on 5/28. I was quoted 7 weeks lead time, I asked if it could be sooner and even offered to pay more to expidiate it sooner because my wife would be in labor a week before that and we wanted it installed. They said they could not do that but they (mike piazza) will make sure it's installed in 7 weeks. So fast forward to today 8/19 and I still have no gate. It's now entering 13 weeks and I can't even get a call from this company to let me know where my job stands. So I called and finally got an answer, they were coming today to set the post and the gate would be finished a few days after. Guess what... the appointment to set my posts was canceled and now they are supposed to install Monday. I won't hold you breath, but it's my last Stand, if it is not started Monday I'm cancelling my order. I rather wait another 7 weeks from a reputable company than another week for this disgrace company. 0 integrity, 0 customer service and I can only expect horrible product ***** update****** So I called to cancel and after spending 15 mins on the phone with a lady who was completely unhelpful I was assured the gate would be started tomorrow. So I decided to wait till tomorrow before I cancelled and to my surprise they actually came out and started the gate by installing the posts. 1 week after the post were installed they showed up to complete the gate which I was super excited for it to finally be finished... I think you know what is coming next.... the gate was installed and seems to be good quality, BUT it was not the gate we agreed to be installed, it was similar in look but yet so far away from the design we ordered. So now I have to wait another some odd weeks before they come back to give me the gate I ordered. It has been 1 thing after another with elyria fence, I thought I was choosing a reputable company with a good name but it has been far from it. If you are looking for a fence and gate company I recommend you look anywhere else to save the headache

Elyria Fence came over to give me a quote to repair a chain link fence. The quote was reasonable for the work that needed to be done. But getting that initial quote got us thinking of replacing the chain link with a privacy fence (board on board). We got a quote on that with different prices for different material options. Of course, we wanted the most expensive option. We ended up not getting the work done, but in the future when I need a fence, I will definitely consider Elyria Fence. From the beginning things went extremely well. We worked with Greg and he answered every question or concern that we had. Shortly after signing the contract we received an email from them explaining every step of the process. They called us every time someone was coming out so that we were not caught off guard. They were patient with us as we had to go out of town during the process. We called and explained things to them and they rearranged their schedule. The end product is exactly what we wanted. Could not have envisioned a smoother process.

They were gentleman who installed my railing. It was $82 an hour and he did a great great job.

The installers came in 2 steps. They replaced the fence posts in one trip and two weeks later, they came and reattached the fence panels and the gate latches. Both installers were great and very professional. Ed, the second installer had a few good tips for making things last longer and was quite customer service oriented. They did a great job.

The installers came when scheduled, however, I was not pleased by the dirt mounds left around the posts - I was told the "mounds" would settle and disappear by Spring, which it looked as though it did settle.

They were excellent! I thought it was a fair price considering the quality of work that they did and the size of the fencing area. I checked out 3 different companies and they were the most professional, their materials were of good quality, their follow up was very good, and any complaints or questions that I had they took care in a timely manner. Their price was fair. It was an acceptable price. It was not the cheapest that I got bids for, but it was worth what I got. Outdoor work does require a weather cooperation so there were some delays with that and from the original start date it was about 10 weeks so I was not happy about that, but once it was started it was done very promptly. This was the second time I used them. I have another fence that they matched to others because they do touch each other at one corner years ago. I would use them again and again. I highly recommend them.

"How'd it go?" :) Welllll.... Let me first say that everything that Elyria Fence did they did with quality materials and professionalism. Mike came out right away to do the quote and 2 other times at my request to talk to my neighbors so that he could confirm with them the placement of the fence and get the thumbs up from them. He actually came out again for one of the neighbors who was still not convinced he would like my new fence. This was very important to me because I could tell early on that one neighbor was not pleased at all when he heard I was putting a fence up for my new puppy. Mike completely went above and beyond and was extremely professional. However, please read this carefully and learn from my mistake: I had one tree that I needed to move because if I did not , the fence would be on their property line by 2 inches. The neighbor, putting on a false face apparently said, "What is a couple inches". So Mike, using string, showed my neighbor where the fence would go and he gave it the green light. I don't care what you have to move or do, but even if you seemingly have the nicest neighbor in the world, do not agree to it! The guys came out and I pitched in and helped them trim back some of my hedges to ensure this fence was on our property as much as possible, even though the neighbor agreed to "a couple inches over, no problem". (Neighbor still with eyes like thunder, ready to blow at any moment leering and watching us) The posts went in when I was at work and what did I come home to??? Well, lets just say I was so upset because his wife started berating me about the fence. Never mind I was even closer that agreed on with her husband. I was so stunned, all I could say was I did not appreciate the tone (nor the fact that I went through so much pain keeping them involved with the project just to deal with that attitude and to call Elyria Fence themselves.) So they did. I called Elyria Fence and apologized for the trouble and they did not charge me for having to redo it even though they had the confirmation of the original placement from the neighbor. In fact, I did not have to deal with the neighbor at all from that point. So, almost a year later, I am still dealing with my neighbor trying to "make a point" by parking in front of our house, pulling into our driveway, throwing branches on our lawn, blowing dirt through our fence, standing on our front lawn, creepily staring at us from his deck over the fence, bad mouthing about us to our neighbors all because of what??? That's right...2 inches in the length of 5 feet of fence that they agreed on. So, I don't care how wonderful your neighbor is, just stay on your property line. So you can't choose your neighbors, but you can choose who builds your privacy fence, and this is one is just beautiful! We are going to use them again for a trellis. Top workmanship and the best crew around. ****************** Update: Due to the terrible snow storms and ice this winter, we had some shifting of our gate. Elyria Fence came right out and fixed it perfectly. They are a company you can count on to be there even after the job is done. Note in the picture how the gate is perfectly even! They did the job better than I had hoped for.

Did not contract Elyria Fence. May use this firm in the future on a different project even though I checked the box "No" above. There was no "Maybe" option.

The company has very nice people working there but they don't have a lot of help from what I can see. They sent young men just out of carpentry school and there is no one doing any quality control of the work or the quality of the cedar they bring to your home. I had them back a number of times, I did make a change to the gate and paid additional. The wood is hit or miss. There were warped crosspieces that had to be replaced and knots where some have already fallen out and there is a hole. The design I have came with some pointed sides wacked off in the cutting and still put up. It was a nightmare. If only they spent a bit more time and gave me more suggestions and price options as I didn't know anything about fences or gates. I have to live with this. The wood is now turning an attractive grey shade and that is good. If anyone is using them, please make sure you check the wood, if you are putting up a wood fence, and do shopping for pricing also. My situation may be unique but it's good to do homework when doing a major job like mine. I feel bad about this as the workers and staff were very polite and came when I found an issue.

They are not very timely and not very responsive. They did come back because the fence was very rough. The wood was splintered and was supposed to be rough swan wood, but we have not seen rough sawn like that. We got a rough swan because our neighbor got it. This was like splintered wood. It was awful with nail holes on it and it was around $15000 worth of fence. Now where the latch is it is not working properly and we asked them to come back. They said they would come back and even last week they said they would come back but we have not heard from them. We just wanted to get at least where the gate is fixed. They did come back and fixed all the nails holes that were open. For the expensive job that it was, it was not expensive quality. They are not very timely and not very responsive. Price wise if we were getting the quality for the price we paid we would not have minded it. We also had a problem because apparently the posts were higher than the City would allow. We asked them to get a permit to do it the right way. They should have taken care of that not we get harassed by the City.

Gate was ordered mid- to late-May, 2013. Original install date was 6-8 weeks, which would have been around the 4th of July. Then, told it would be mid-August. THEN told it would be early September. THEN told it would be Wednesday, September 18. THEN told it would be Friday, September 20. THEN, told it would be Monday, September 23. I finally have my gate. However, this delay put me a full two months behind in my move-in date, since I could not move in until I had a gate to go with my existing fence, so that I could contain my two dogs. I have incurred unnecessary costs - in both time, gas, and wear and tear on my car -- since I have had to continue to commute 60+ miles each way to work each day, when I could have been commuting 6. An almost 4-month lead time to install a simple chain link gate is unacceptable. To repeatedly not honor a promised installation gate is just bad business. I didn't get my gate until I threatened to contact the Better Business Bureau. Until the last few promised dates, I had made an effort to be accommodating. But, enough is enough. I contacted Elyria Fence for this job because I had used them several years earlier when I lived at another address. I had no problem with that job. Obviously, something has changed. Whether they considered the job too small for their attention, or what, I have no idea. I was told that one of their fabricators/welders had sustained an injury and that there would be a delay in completing this job, but that wasn't until at least 2-1/2 months into the leadtime. Of course, I have received my final bill (I had put a deposit down on the job), with no apology or offer to adjust the price due to the inconvenience I have incurred. I won't be using this company again.

they came on time and finished in a timely manner. I was concerned about the piles of dirt left at each pole site, but was insured it would settle and it eventually did.

Had some initial issues with the start date of the service, originally quoted as being 6 weeks out for the start of the project but did not actually start on the project until 8 weeks had gone by. Additionally, communication was lacking during the process with our need to reach out to them instead of the company reaching out to us to keep us informed of the process. Quality of the fence is wonderful and teams that came out to install post and fence were great! Only suggestion for anyone using the company would be to check your fence after install, we found a few fence pickets that were only nailed into the top rail and not the middle/bottom rail. UPDATE 7/29/14: After a year there has been some settling of our gate (which prevented the gate from closing) that required trimming some of the bottom off. Called Elyria Fence and was told someone would contact me regarding the issue but no call ever came so had to trim the bottom myself.
