Description of Work: It went well even though it was the end of the season. The cold weather came so fast they were lucky to finish before the snow started. We had some storm damage to the gate but the winter was so severe that the company was not doing repairs so we had to call to remind them to reschedule the repair.

Description of Work: The estimator, Mike, came out in late May. He was very nice and on time and knowledgeable. I knew when I contacted Elyria Fence they were one of the most expensive companies some was prepared to pay more for a better quality fence with some custom features. I was repairing and replacing storm damage from last fall which caused a huge portion of my fence to collapse. I was interested in replacing the entire fence with a board on board with a lattice topper. Elyria Fence was the 4th estimate I received. After meeting with multiple contractors and getting a wide range of quotes that varied by thousands of dollars I was frustrated. I compared the quality of the product to other contractors and liked what was proposed by Elyria Fence. The estimator even tried to quote a smaller number for a fence that was not so decorative. After considering everything, I decided to pay more and go with the board on board with lattice topper. The quote for this work was 3436.00. When I agreed to the work, I asked for next steps. I was told that a deposit of one third was required and that the work could not begin until late August. Despite the cost and delay I was prepared to move forward and end the nightmare of meeting with contractors and trying to figure out the best way to go. After I agreed, the salesman called and to,d me he made a mistake on the estimate and that the actual cost for what I wanted was 4655.00 a shocking 1219.00 more than the original written quote. I was told by the estimator that he made a mistake in the quote and he was sorry. I never received a good explanation for the mistake, but 1219.00 is a big error. The original quote was already the most expensive that I received. I am now back to square one having wasted several months trying to get to this work done. I joined Angie's List for help with these types of situations because as a single woman it is hard to feel that I am not being taken advantage of by contractors and wanted access to quality contractors. I can't explain how this happened but I am furious that I have wasted an entire summer looking at a rotting fence in my yard dealing with a nightmare of contractors who have different opinions, products, quality and pricing, I have renovated two homes and hired countless contractors over the years. Finding a reputable fencing contractor has been the most aggravating experience to date. I can't recommend this company because of the last minute switch in pricing. Very disappointing.
