Empire Windows

This was one of 3 estimates I received for the windows I needed replaced. Theirs was the middle in price range, but I liked the features and I liked that they were an Ohio based company. The day I got the estimate, I was not ready to have the work done, so I was given a contract that I mailed when I was ready. If I had to say one thing negative, it would be that the communication with the office was difficult. I did finally have the work scheduled and done, and we are so happy with our new windows. Our bedroom is quiet and we can actually see the outside without having to gaze through a haze of water damage. The crew was very professional and left no mess whatsoever. My plan is to have them back out when we are ready to have the rest of our windows replaced!

I think they did a nice job explaining their services to me. However, they were difficult to get a hold of when I had questions. The installers cracked the wood framing around one of my windows (which they offered to repair at no charge), and one of the windows was faulty and they replaced it at no charge.

Very good experience. The team did a good job (Kevin and ?). They were nice, timely, took the 2 days they said it would take to complete job. They cleaned up after job was done. The quote was the same as the charge. They told me of an issue with one of the windows that they would have to come back and fix - which they did. When I called the next day to tell them they installed wrong type of storm door, they came out and changed at the same time that they fixed the window.

Window portion went great. Top quality windows and quick, top quality installation. Siding portion not as good. Quality of work was fine but the project took way too long.

The whole process of ordering the windows was a bit taxing. In addition to replacing the windows we also replaced the sills. Empire tried to get away with simply providing stock (squared-edge, no bull-nose) poplar for the sills. I found this quite disturbing. I ended up supplying my own material for the new sills. Once the windows were ready to install I met with the installation crew foreman to schedule the instal. The installation crews were excellent. We had two crews out here for a day and a half. They were consummate professionals. Everything looks fantastic.

Sales and quote experience was excellent. Response to phone calls between contract being signed and getting install scheduled was abysmal (apparently due to employee turnover). Install and quality was/is excellent.

Went well. He advised me to get glass block windows for the replacement windows and gave me the name of an area company who could do the work. He gave me the price to replace my sliding glass door and promised to mail me some parts for my other windows (window locks).

They got caught in bad weather but called to let me know. When they put the new windows in the frame was old and it didn't match up quite the way they wanted it to, so they came back the next day to add a strip to all ten windows. I'd highly recommend them to everyone!

The installation went great! Craig was very nice and polite. We later discovered that the salesman wrote down the wrong part number, so we don't have the door we wanted. But Craig contacted the salesman, who ordered the door we wanted originally and it should be installed soon.

Extremely well. Mr. VanGundy is not a ''high pressure'' salesman, so I enjoyed his presentation. I explained that I was looking at other companies as well, he did not continually call back and pressure me to make a decision. His pricing was much more reasonable than the other two companies I had contacted (Rosati and Central State windows). They installed windows and doors in 4 houses in our area. Every homeowner that I spoke with is very satisfied with their work. At my residence, the entire installation was completed in approximately 5 hours. The company representatives were extremely good at what they do and very professional. Did a great cleanup job, too! Windows are of very high quality and work great. I would recommend them to anyone!

Empire called with to set an appointment (after someone else had canceled). A crew of 4 came and replaced all of our windows (13) in 1 day. The crew, especially Craig, were very friendly and efficient. They were very accommodating, working around our baby's nap time.

Empire did a good job. Some of the windows came in wrong, but they were very good about offering us several options, including reordering and waiting for the correct ones, which is what we did. There was another problem with a window and they replaced it with no argument. They cleaned up after themselves. Windows look and function great.

Our experience started off on the most positive of notes. Rick suggested a cost saving measure that we turned down. He suggested that we contact the original manufacturer about replacement parts. I told him that you can't polish a turd. I was very impressed that he made the suggestion. They were prompt and did a great job from taking out the old windows to cleaning up after the new ones were put in. The job was done in under two days.

They were very efficient and prompt. I just love my windows.

We were very impressed not only with the installation and communication during and after the installation (what was done, why it was being done the way it was, how to operate the windows, etc) but with the sales aspect of the process. We were confident going in that Empire Windows was a company we could trust.

Great job. They came out gave us an estimate. Very Prompt, and courteous. The installers were professional and quick. Very happy with a job well done.

Empire's estimate was the lowest of three bids--by nearly $800 from one company. Interestingly enough, all three companies offered the same storm window product. The crew showed up within the estimated time (5-7 weeks) and showed up on time the day of the job. Crew was courteous and neat. The installation job is professional, and performed according to specifications.

Rick Welsh, the sales rep, was on-time, helpful, professional, and experienced. Rick responded the same day to our inquiries recorded on his cell phone. Kevin (supervisor) and Russ (assistant) installed the windows and storm door in 4 hours. They were precise, careful, clean, and responsive. Kevin cancelled two appointments for installation, because of subzero weather (1) and injured back (1). He made up by performing the installation on Saturday.

REP MIKE VAN GUNDY CAME OUT AND GAVE US A NO PRESSURE ESTIMATE. HE WAS NICE, BUT I FELT THAT HE DID NOT GIVE US THE PROPER AMOUNT OF INFORMATION THAT I NEEDED TO MAKE A DECISION. DID NOT SEEM TO CONCERNED WITH U FACTOR NUMBERS OR GLASS SPECIFICATIONS. DID NOT EVEN BRING A SAMPLE TO SHOW US. PRICE WAS A HIGHER THAN OTHER ESTIMATES.

I LIKED THE WORKMEN, THEY DID BREAK MY CHANDELIER & THEY WERE NICE ABOUT IT AND TOLD ME TO BUY A NEW ONE AND THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME, THEY HAVE INSURANCE. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THEM.

ESTIMATED COST AT 5700. PRICE COMPARABLE TO OTHER COMPANIES BUT I DID NOT FEEL THE PROJECT WAS OF THE SAME QUALITY AS THE ONE WE EVENTUALLY PURCHASED. SALESMAN WAS NICE BUT DID NOT PUT DOWN OTHER COMPANIES (WITHOUT NAMING NAMES.)

EVERYBODY INCLUDING THE RECEPTIONIST WERE POLITE AND FRIENDLY. MR. WELSH CAME TWICE TO MY HOUSE (FIRST TIME TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE, AND SECOND TIME TO SIGN THE CONTRACT), AND HE WAS PUNCTUAL AS WELL AS THE STAFF THAT CAME TO INSTALL THE NEW WINDOWS. THE MEN THAT CAME TO INSTALL THE WINDOWS WORKED DILIGENTLY. AFTER THEY FINISHED THEIR WORK THEY LEFT EVERYTHING CLEAN. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE AMAZED THAT THEY WORK SO FAST. LAST YEAR WE HAD THREE WINDOWS INSTALLED BY ANOTHER COMPANY, AND IT TOOK THEM ALMOST AS LONG TO INSTALL THREE AS IT TOOK THE EMPIRE WORKERS TO INSTALL EIGHT. AT THE END, THE INSTALLERS GAVE MY HUSBAND GOOD INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT HOW THE WINDOWS FUNCTION.

DID A GOOD JOB WITH INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS AND SLIDING DOOR. THEY INITIALLY INSTALLED THE WRONG WINDOW IN ONE OF THE BATHS, BUT THEY ORDERED THE CORRECT WINDOW AND INSTALLED IT IN ONE WEEK.

I DON'T THINK I WANT TO GIVE A COMPANY WITH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS MY BUSINESS. TOO BAD BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD GOOD EXPERIENCES WITH THEM. I CALLED THE COLUMBUS NUMBER 614-332-1736.

THE SALES REP WAS ON TIME, COURTEOUS AND TOOK TIME TO ANSWER ALL MY QUESTIONS. THE INSTALLERS WERE ALSO ON TIME AND REMOVED THE OLD DOORS, AND INSTALLED THE NEW DOORS IN ABOUT FOUR HOURS. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND EFFICIENT. UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE SLIDING DOOR THE DAY AFTER INSTALLATION. THE SCREEN FELL AWAY FROM THE FRAME AND THE LARGE GLASS DOOR SAGGED AWAY FROM THE FRAME AND CAULKING. THE INSTALLERS RETURNED IN FOUR DAYS TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. WE HAD HOPED TO HAVE THE SCREEN PORTION OF THE DOOR REPLACED. THE PREVIOUS SCREEN HAD LASTED 25 YEARS WITH NO REPAIRS NEEDED. HOWEVER, THEY ONLY PROVIDED REPAIR. EVEN THE INSTALLER SAID THE SCREEN DOORS WERE NOT GOOD PRODUCTS. ASIDE FROM THE DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE SCREEN DOOR, WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE NEW FRONT DOOR, AND THE LARGE GLASS PORTION OF THE SLIDING DOORS.
