Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

My complaint with RotoRooter is that their price has almost doubled. This guy explained that the man that owned RR in our area sold it and the new guy jacked up the prices. I said 'thanks, but no thanks' and hired someone else who did the job for almost half the price. RotoRooter wanted almost $140.00 to unclog one drain. I ended up paying less than $90.00

I called in the morning, they sent a technician out (Tony Bailey) within the hour. He did a great job and he was polite, professional and efficient. I would definitely use this company again. I did not get other estimates so I don't know how this price stacks up against competitors but it seems reasonable - he worked for close to an hour, and I also bought the drain maintenance product.

They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and cleaned up before leaving. Everyone with whom I had contact was pleasant and friendly.

The estimate was way too high so I didn't work with them. It was a big job but they gave me a really high price. They were very professional and very polite. I would probably have been happy with the work they would have done but I just couldn't afford it. The price was twice of what the other plumbers gave me. They were knowledgeable. They knew what they were talking about. I probably would not get another estimate from them in the future.

We did not have them do work for us because their estimate was ridiculously high. Besides the price they were very professional and were on time. Their online system was also easy to use and they were professional also, but their price was too high.

They did a good job and they were quick. We've had several problems and they've helped through all of them. They always do a good job.

After much plunging, we figured we had a major clog somewhere--probably in the main line. Our guy quickly figured out the problem and found the cleanout. He also told us about what he found while cleaning it, and info about the drain, regular maintence, etc. He found lots of tree roots which he said might indicate a bigger problem, but since we knew the drain had not been cleaned in over three years, he said to wait and see if we had more problems before assuming there was a break somewhere. He also signed us up for annual drain cleaning to prevent future problems.

No problems. He cleaning out my main drain all the way to the street. He also spotted a small drip coming from the kitchen faucet above, and provided an estimate on repairing it before he left. Even with a discount coupon I thought the price to clean the main line was a little steep, considering the time he spent on it. I will call around and check prices next time.

Did not hire them because of high estimate. I will say, though, that I really liked their online appt. scheduling, and they were very prompt. and professional.

They came out on Sunday (no extra charge) about 1.5 hrs after I called. (Quick!) They fixed the problem with a huge electric drain snake. The problem turned out to be roots, so he gave us some stuff to prevent future problems. He also gave us advice on how to prevent future drain issues with the washing machine for pennies. (put old panty hose on the washing machine out-tube to catch lint and debris before it tries to go down the drain.)

I have used Roto-Rooter for 20 years... used to cost less than $100 to get a drain cleaned (sink, tub etc). I needed two bathroom sink drains cleaned out last September and they told me it would be almost $300. I had a fit and the guy finally took pity on me and did it for $160. I just called today to get my laundry tub drain cleaned. I told them I got the number from Angie's List. They came out within the hour and wanted to charge $200. for one lousy drain. I accused him of inflating the price because I had a coupon and he said "no, the price just went up". I said... "$40-50 a drain? Are you serious? That's assinine." The guy was polite but I sent him on his way and told him that they lost a customer forever. They say they don't charge extra for weekends or evenings (today is Sunday). I will wait until tomorrow and get someone else for a whole lot less....

The guy showed up when he said he would and he did a good job. I have no complaints. He cleaned it out for the price he said. One of the things that I like is that they have a reminder system because I have a line that needs to be cleaned out every fall, so they actually called me to remind me.

They were prompt and quick, but expensive. I called them on a Friday night at 8pm and they had someone at my house by 9pm. They were willing to do work that night, but they had to wait for another service provider who was doing another part of the job. They had my toilet up and running by noon the next day. Considering what they had to do I thought it was completed in a very timely manner. I would use them again in an emergency situation, but if I had the time to wait I would shop around.

This company provided quick service on the same day I called. There was no waiting, and they were quite efficient on the job. I didn't even notice they were in my basement and they cleaned around their work area very nicely. I appreciated their professionalism and will use them again in the future.

Called before they came - Rick was the tech - very professional and informative - he didn't mind that I watched over his shoulder (as I was genuinely interest in what it was he was doing) - in and out in 30 minutes with 6 month guarantee - we discussed cleaning the main drain and he was informative on the process & price but did not pressure to have it done. I hesitated on using them because I usually use a local name over a franchise but had a bad experience with the last "local" drain cleaner. Would definitely use again.

This was an 'emergency'...but they were able to send someone right away. The man was very nice and worked very hard and eventually got the drain cleared. (at one point he thought the pipes might be too corroded and would need to be replaced). The drain gunk splattered all over my bathroom walls, so the whole bathroom needed to be cleaned afterward. I have used Roto-Rooter in the past and the price has skyrocketed.... I would probably get additional estimates the next time if it is not an emergency situation. When I have called in the past, they have given me an estimate, but they wouldn't do that this time - and now I know why.

They clean up their work nice. The people that come out are courteous and professional, all of which are a plus. They not fix the problem but show you how to prevent it from occurring.

It is apparent that the main drain should have been checked at the time of the initial service as the original blockage was obviously caused by the slow flow through the main drain. I now have sewage backup in my basement (including garbage disposer refuse). Roto-rooter sent a tech but he did not have proper equiptment to correct the problem. I am now waiting for a different contractor and further expense. I do feel that a refund should be made by Roto-Rooter for the incomplete service on 7-22-09

Our tech was prompt, prepared and professional. He went straight to work upon arrival, and quickly had the job complete. It was especially nice that he was willing to offer strategies to keep us from inviting him back to another clogged drain too soon. :-) The only minor inconvenience is that the estimate could only be given on-site after he arrived and checked out the situation. Next time, we'll know exactly what service is needed, and can comparison shop more thoroughly before-hand.

Pros: Professional technician, thorough work. Friendly service. Cons: No scheduled appointment times. I called in the morning but they have you sit around and give you a call 30 minutes prior to their arrival. The service seemed fairly expensive for 30 minutes worth of work.

They cleaned my bathtub drain. Did a good job. We have old pipes so they must be careful and not damage the pipes. Cleaned up after the job was complete.

The second time he charged us half the price because he felt bad he had to come back. He did a great job when he came out, and I would use him again.

Very well. I knew it would be a tough job, but the guys got right on it. I was lucky to have two employees, sometimes working at the same time, for the same quoted rate. I felt that the employees cared to see the job done well and didn't want to skimp out before they were also happy with the work.

Went very well. Roto-Rooter had someone available rather quickly. Dispatcher was very professional as was the plumber, a young man by the name of Ryan. He was prompt, very professional and quick. He even took his shoes off before he walked across the carpet. That impressed me. This was a Sunday job so that may have escalated the price but I still thought the price was good and I was glad they had someone available because a couple companies I called had no one available. I highly recommend Roto-rooter for your plumbing/drain cleaning repairs.

I was pretty satisfied with the work. They did a good job and I would recommend them to anyone. They were on time and friendly and managed to get the work done. They were reasonable priced as well.
