Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Their diagnosis pretty much immediately was having the pipe relined which is a compound vinyl liner, which would cost $8,000. I had another plumber come out and clear the line for $250. He used a pipe cutter and removed all the roots. They do good work on drain cleaning, but I would call around if you have this type of issue.

They were to provide me with a CD showing how the sewage line looked before their work and one after the completion of their work. I have not received either CD, as of 7/24/2013.

The employee did a complete check of the plumbing and sump pump. He checked each sink, shower, toilet in the house. He called his supervisor to ask what else could be done. His determination was that it was not a plumbing problem, but more likely an air conditioning problem. He was very polite and helpful. There was no charge since he solved no problem. In fact, he narrowed the problem significantly. I would certainly use this company again.

All went well. Tech... 3726, named Ron was very professional. I was very impressed when he cleaned up the mess. I would use this company again.

On Friday 7 June We had Plumbing problems everything was clogged. (When it rains it pours) I recently joined Angies List and looking for a plumber I decided on Roto Rooter. I called late in the evening and made an appointment for 10:00 a.m. I was most impressed with the courteous customer service making the appointment. I had originally made the appointment at 8:00 a.m. but had to call back and change the appointment to 10:00 a.m. Both of the call center operators were most courteous. So I received a call in the morning right before the Tech's arrival and his arrival was prompt. The tech's name was Richard and he also was courteous,and knowledgeable of his job but what impressed me the most was how well he explained what was wrong and what needed to be done and what he prices would be. all questions answered; worked completed promply!! Now I know Plumbing is a costly process and it is not fun to spend money on unexpected events, but I now know without a doubt that my experience with Roto Rooter was wonderful, prices were reasonable! and Customer service was Outstanding ! I would recommend Roto Rooter for your plumbing dilemmas!

I moved into an older, historic home a few months ago and thought that the slow tub drain was something I would have to live with. Over time, the drain got slower and slower until it seemed to stop and even showed signs of backflow. Roto-Rooter arrived on-time and Brent, the technician, immediately got to work. He was incredibly personable and immediately I felt like I could trust him and his work. After assessing my problem, he told me what he could do and was upfront with the estimate for the fix. He even made a few suggestions for other repairs I should begin to plan for, but did not pressure me into making them immediately. Brent went to work diligently and did not stop until he was satisfied with the job. When he showed me that my drain now flowed so quickly that the little vortex formed, I got giddy as a school kid. It?s like I have a brand new tub. It totally made my day! I couldn't be happier with the service Brent and RotoRooter performed.

The plumber was prompt, professional, helpful, and performed quality work. I thought the labor pricing was a little high for the time spent on the job, but I can't complain with the results. I would definitely use them in the future, but I would consider making small fixes myself before calling due to the cost.

The service man was called out and cleaned out the line and retrieved about a half of a trashbag of roots out of the line. He the told my 92 year old aunt that he needed to get his manager out to take a look at the situation. The second party came out and ran a camera into the line and he told her she needed to have them dig up the yard and repair the line. The price was $3800 and if she wanted the grass replaced it would be several hundred more. She thought that they were going to replace or reline the entire line but she was incorrect and the contract did state they were replacing only a section of the line. My complaint is that I feel that due to her age, they should have encouraged her to get another family member to look at the situation before they did the work. I only got involved after the work was already in progress. When I talked with the man doing the work, I drew the conclusion that they were going to replace the section and reline the remainder on out to the street. When they completed the job I learned that they were only instructed to replace a section and if we wanted the rest of the line relined it would be about another $2,000. I feel that they were not clear enough when talking to my 92 year old aunt and the price was too high for what they did.

I experienced a problem with the main drain in my basement and needed a plumber with all deliberate speed. In Dayton, Ohio I had worked with the same company for most of 20 years. Andre Webb arrived to make the repair(s). Andre arrived promptly and performed exceptionally. He was personable and professional. He assessed the problem and clearly explained to me in 'lay' terms both short and long term fixes and associated costs. He was especially attentive to my home environment and ensured that my carpet was in no way stained or marred by the equipment. What really blew my mind was when Andre hosed down and se=wept my laundry room floor (the location of the main drain) to clean and clear residue from the area. Never had I experienced such thoroughness from any service person. In my opinion Andre is an A+, top notch, numero uno guy as described in my Webster.

We had just moved in to a Condo that had been vacant for a few months, and the master bath toilet was backing up. When we called Roto-Rooter, they did come out when they promised and unclogged the drain. Because they did not know why this happend, I asked if the other drains in the other bathroom should also be cleaned, and they said it wouldn't hurt. When they were done, I had a bill of about $300.00. Just a few days later, the same problem occured in the master bath. They did come back, but decided on this trip that they should remove the toilet and again unclog the drain. They still had no reason why this was happening, and I did have to pay another $68.00 for this trip because they didn't just unclog the drain but removed and reconnected the same toilet. They advised me that if it happend again that I would need to pay $100.00 to put a camera down the drain so maybe they could figure out what was causing the backup. They said if they found anything with the drain pipes that I might have to have the floor opened up to get to the pipes and replace them, and it could be very expensive. Needless to say, I was shocked! A few days later the toilet again backed up, and while waiting for them to come out, I tried to use the plunger to stop any backup from getting on the floor. When they came out it was flushing OK, and again they had no idea what was causing this, and mentioned that I would have to use the $100.00 camera. I told them I would not go to that additional expense at this time and they left. I then decided to contact the plumbing company that installed all the plumbing when the condo was built in 2006. Over the phone the plumber told me that the toilets used in construction were the water saver type and that sometimes there is not enough water to push the waste out the pipes. He said if I double flush and use single ply paper that I should not have any further problems. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS. I think that a company as big as Roto-Rooter should be well aware of this potential problem with the newer water saver toilets, and had they informed me of this on the first visit. I would be giving them a much better rating. After posting my first review which was not favorable to the company, I received a call from Roto-Rooter. They wanted to review the information with me and also look at their records. They decided to give me a refund for the second visit. They requested that I update the information on Angie's list to show what they had done for me. I have revised the information here to reflect that Roto-Rooter did make a good faith effort to satisfy their customer. While I appreciate the refund, I still will be very careful who I call for plumbing work in the future.

I have used them before, they're right on the spot and they are punctual and pretty responsive. When I call them at 7:30 in the morning, they will be here by 8:00. I would give them A across the board.

After attempting to contact multiple repair/plumbing service companies, I was told that no one could assist me until the next day (at the earliest). The moment I phoned Roto-Rooter, I was put at ease and was extremely happy to speak with someone that was courteous and understanding. I was then informed that someone could be out in approximately 2 hours. I received a call about an hour later informing me that a technician would be at the house within 20 min. Dave Kovacs, our Service Technician, was amazing from the moment he rang the door bell until the job was finished. He introduced himself and shook my hand. As soon as he walked in, he covered his shoes to protect our floors. He inspected the problem, explained everything that would need to be done then promptly gave me the estimate. Dave was professional, extremely knowledgeable and was very proud of the company he represents...as an added plus, he was really pleasant to work with. Once he got to work, he stayed on it until the job was completed. This gentleman is a real tribute to the company and provides great customer service .Although the cost was a bit pricey....I'm not complaining. This company understood my dilemma, did not make me wait and did a fine job.Should I need work in the future, I will surly request Dave as my tech should he be available.

They did a good job. I used them the first time about three years ago and I had some issues with them, but the next year I haven’t had any issues. Lately they have been excellent.

I found a coupon on Angie's list for $40.00 off. I scheduled an appointment and was told that they would come out and do an estimate and if I wanted the service after the estimate, then I would be okay to tell them and they could do the work right then. All I needed was a water line to go from under the sink to the new fridge for the ice maker. The estimate included the service charge, 1 hour of labor and parts and the total was $225.00 With the $40.00 coupon my total cost came out to $185.00 That was a lot more than I expected. The project was completed and I thanked the Roto Rooter plumber who was very nice and straight forward.

I wrote a report about the service I received on 24 May. I rated Roto-Rooter a "C." Roto-Rooter contacted me to determine the problem. I explained the service call. They apologized for the problem I had with the service and offered a $40.00 refund to compensate for my concerns. More importantly, they said they would speak to the technician's supervisor, so he could speak with the technician about his service. Hopefully that will mean an improved service by that technician so no one else will have an issue.

I called for service and they scheduled for the afternoon to accommodate my schedule. The experience arranging the appointment was quite nice. My kitchen sink drain was clogged. I have a white sink, but rather than go in from underneath the sink, he went down through the drain throwing black junk all over the white sink and scraping the finish from the drain. He said it was too much work to attack the problem from underneath because he had to take the drain apart, clean it and then put it back together again to check the water flow. He attempted to clean up the mess before leaving, but wasn't very successful. He was here about 20 minutes. The drain ran clear, but the actual drain cleaning cost $229.00 - an outrageous sum for the work performed. In addition to having to clean my sink with Soft Scrub and wipe down the counters, I felt cheated by the cost.

I chose to use them because they are well known and I had used them in the past. My daughter has used them too. I don't remember if I spent $100 or may be a little more because it was just a basic cleaning, but my daughter had a huge job done by them. They put the liner in the drain because she was having some problems. They were professional. I don't remember any details, but I don't have any complaints about them. Overall, I was pleased with their services. I didn't have any major problems. They might be a little more expensive. I'm sure if I did the searching and got estimates, I could probably get someone cheaper, but they are a big name and one probably pays for that.

What originally started this was that I was afraid of my disposal backing up into the bathroom. They did come in the evening. I had another slow drain and realized I hadn?t had the tree roots done in quite a while. They were able to clear the drain. When he started to give me the bill, I said that it could not be right with what he had quoted me. He agreed to adjust it. He then said that he would give me some kind of treatment in the pipes to help. I realized when I got the bill, he had charged me for that. The work was under guarantee, so I decided to call them back when, soon after, while I was doing laundry and went to get the mail, I saw that the sewer was overflowing. He said there was a ?belly? in it, but that they could put a liner in it. The estimate he gave me, even with a 10% discount, was $5300. They were late four times beyond the window of time. Because of that, they agreed to give a $300 discount toward digging. I told them that if they wanted to dig, that I wanted to get other estimates. When I obtained estimates from two other companies, I was told that the drain was working now and that they didn?t see the need to dig. They actually recommended not to dig, but that if I did, what they would charge would have been nearly half the cost of the estimate given by Roto-Rooter. I felt that they were not that truthful and wanted so much more than the others.

He was punctual, did what I asked him to do, was friendly, but, not overly personable. I give them good ratings and probably wouldn't use them again in the future mainly because of the price.

They came and found the location for the leak. They told me they would be back in a couple of hours to finish the job. I called my work and took the day off. I waited all day and night, but they never came back and didn't even call me. I lost a day's wages and they didn't even bother to call me. The next morning they called back and I told them forget it; I will hire somebody else. Very unprofessional, poor customer service. 4-9-2012; Roto-rooter sent me a coupon for a free drain cleaning.

Technician ran snake through outside clean out and inside drains began to run again. He contacted his supervisor who arrived at house and then ran a camera (cost extra and not well explained) down sewer. Camera showed roots still in sewer line. When asked why roots were still there, supervisor stated the snake "took path of least resistance" which meant, under the roots. Snake heads are spring loaded and should be able to cut through the roots which were not large diameter roots, but rather thin roots in clumps which should cut away if attacked properly. Roto-Rooter is in the business of dealing with these problems daily and should know how to deal with this issue properly. The fact that they left roots in the sewer so they could convince us to buy either a $4200 sewer replacement solution ("financing is readily available") or a $4200 installation of a pipe liner was unprofessional and unconscionable. We consider this a scam and will not be using Rotor-Rooter again. We WILL use companies that are locally based who have strong, long term reputations as opposed to strong, national marketing campaigns.

They did horrible. They could not do anything right. My husband had to fix what they could not do.
