Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Roto-Rooter sent out a very inexperienced plumber named Austin on 1/4/14 who did not even know what a sewage ejection pump was. He went to Menards for the replacement part. Unfortunately for us, he put in the wrong size motor and put in the floater upside down. Two weeks later, it stopped working. We called Roto-Rooter again. They sent out a different plumber who shook the pipe and stated it was clogged toilet paper. He did not look at anything else and was gone within 10 minutes. One week later, the pump stopped again. This time sewage water flooded the basement ruining a $10K wood floor that was just put in a few months previous as well as carpet, drywall, and baseboards. Roto-Rooter sent out another plumber who finally fixed it correctly. Unfortunately it was too late, the damage was already done. Roto-Rooter then sent out their contractor to clean up the sewage mess, never telling us we could use anyone we wanted. The contractor, Teasdale Fenton, in their demolition of our basement, broke tiles on the floor, chipped the concrete basement floor trying to get the hard wood floor up, caused drywall damage by yanking off the baseboards, and almost causing another flood by not checking to make sure where they had placed the hose to the dehumidifier. After causing so much destruction, we found out from Roto-Rooter's insurance company that we did not have to stay with Teasdale. In fact, Roto-Rooter should not have sent out Teasdale at all. They handled that incorrectly too. We had an insurance adjuster come out who could not believe all the mess that they found almost a month and a half after the flood. Roto-Rooter's insurance company then offered to pay us only the cash value of the repairs, leaving a balance of $3,162.21. We contacted Roto-Rooter asking if they would please make us whole because we did not feel that we should have to pay $3,162.21 out of pocket due to their error. We never heard from them again. Stay away from Roto-Rooter. They have cost us more damage then we can afford for a plumbing repair!

He helped me sign up on Angie's List and then purchase the Big Deal. They did an excellent job.

The technician, his name was Bruce, was great, very professional did a great job! They responded in the time frame they said they would. We had an Angie's list coupon for $79 for $250 of labor. The problem is 2 fold, the hourly rate was high, plus they initially did not prorate the second hour. The job took about 1 hr 15 min, and they charged for 2 hours labor. However, we were told to call the company and they would look into prorating the second hour. We have used Rooter Rooter in the past as well, and although their rates are a bit high, we always have had quality work, and they respond on weekends. So overall I like to use Rooter-rooter, they are reliable, but just wished their hourly rate was lower

Originally I was told they would come out within an hour. they finally came out 2 days later. Originally, I was told the service would cost $232. I contacted another company and they were more reasonable, so I called my tenant back to have her tell them I'd found another company to do it. The technician then told me about the Angie's List coupon. I purchased it & went ahead with the company and haven't had any other problems from the toilet that I know of), but I'm still waiting for my confirmation email that contains my receipt and warranty information.

I got them off Angie’s List. I called them because the toilets in two bathrooms in my house were both clogged out and I felt like they would probably just know what they were doing. It was a horrible messy job. They were so courteous and so nice. The guy did a terrible messy job and kept at it. He had to work in both bathrooms. He had to remove the toilet in the main bathroom to unplug the line that runs between those bathrooms. It was a horrible job and he stuck at it and did an excellent job. He was nice and courteous. He was a good guy all around. It took him a long time and he did an excellent job. It was expensive but he did a lot of work.

After they arrived they said I needed to have a water cleanup. They called another company and they came over. The other company tore up my basement, ripped out carpet and tore out finished drywall, but never came back. Roto-Rooter acted like I was getting a bargain since I was a repeat customer. They charged me $269.00 to clean my main line. I had another drain company come out and they inspected the main line with a camera, made a DVD copy for me and never charged me a dime. They also said they only charge $99.00 for a main line clean out. I will NEVER use Roto-Rooter again. They are a ripoff with untrained and unscrupulous employees.

The I purchased a deal on angies list for $79 for $250 worth of "plumbing labor". The plumber arrived at 8:30 am. He told me that their hourly labor rate was $199 for the first hour and $159 for each hour thereafter. He estimated the total bill to be $225. He looked at the two toilets and said he had to go and get parts. He got back at 10:00 am. He worked for an hour and fifteen minutes. He then went to his truck and took fifteen minutes to prepare the invoice. While servicing the second toilet he recommended that we replace additional parts at a costs of $40. He then presented his invoice for two hours of labor at $358.00 and parts of $195 for a total of $553. He then discounted the bill by $250 of labor costs. I told him I disagreed with the labor costs but gave him my check for $303. He said if I didn't sign the invoice he would not accept my check and he would rip out the parts that he installed. I signed the invoice and noted that I disputed the labor costs. My total costs was $382. I feel that I was entitled to the 1.25 hours of actual labor due to the deal that I purchased. I should have only been charged for parts.

Brent came and got right to work. He explained what he was doing and conducted himself in a professional manner.

1st appointment 1-3 Monday 2/24 No show. 2nd appointment Tuesday 9-11 am At 4 pm I cancelled the appointment.

My garbage disposal was leaking so bad that I had to have a bucket under it to catch all of the water. I made an appt. with Roto Rooter on-line; they responded promptly and arrived when they said they would and carefully/professionally installed new garbage disposal.

They took the head with them. Used white caulk on my tan shower and it stood out like a sore thumb, had to hire another plumber to correct.

This could possibly be the worst service visit we have experienced. The plumber was very nice and we were able to get an appointment quickly. Unfortunately, he was new and inexperienced and at the end of it told us we were the first service call he had been assigned. The dispatch office incorrectly told him what service was supposed needed so when he arrived he was not equipped to do the job. He stated he could come back the next day and complete the work in no more than 3 hours. We agreed to a start time of 10 am the next day. He was 45 minutes late to arrive. The "3 hour" fix took just over 6 hours to complete. During that time, he broke the original toilet, left to purchase another one and bought the wrong size, so had to return and get yet another one. He was very friendly and did the best he could do with the limited experience; I felt sorry for him as he was overwhelmed by the job. I am extremely disappointed with the company because once he reported to them the actual problem, he did not receive any help on how to fix the problem. Very big oversight on their part and will cost them in the future as we won't use them again.

I called about 2PM on a Sunday when the line backed up and flooded the basement, I scheduled online and soon received a call that told me when the van would arrive. Ron arrived, told me what it would cost and got the machine into the basement and went to work. About a half hour later the line was clear and he was on his way. He was fast, efficient and did a neat clean job. I would recommend this service to anyone with a similar problem.

They cut out a section of the main piping and replaced it with new piping. The old piping was copper and they replaced it with new, more reliable piping. They installed a new lever operated water shut-off valve as well. The piping was very close to the wall and this was a very difficult fix. They did a great job.

. Fixed the pipe and repaired the driveway. Had to leave town the day after they worked on the pipe. Have not been told if everything went well since I have returned . Was told there was a problem when they finished placing the pipe with my neighbors line possibly but I need to know.

They called ahead of time before coming. They spent about 30 min here. They removed some hair from the drain and the price was way too high for amount of time they were here. The only good thing about them is that they will come anytime you need them 24/7.

In Sep 2012, I had a clogged drain and roto rooter unclogged the sewer line by mechanically auguring my main sewer line from my home to the street. At that time it roto rooter suggested either to insert a sewer liner inside the pipe from the residence to the street or to have periodic auguring of the sewer line. I contacted roto rooter this weekend to get an estimate of the maintenance auguring. The technician informed me I would have to pay for two personnel to conduct the augur. Two personnel came in Sep ?12 but the charge was $239. This time I was going to have to pay $239 plus an extras $189 for another technician. Discussing the options with the estimator he spoke of high pressure auguring so I asked him about that but he was unable to answer my questions and contacted a supervisor. On arrival of the supervisor I was told neither pressure nor mechanical auguring could be accomplished due to the location of the access point to the sewer line. I reminded them that they conducted a mechanical auguring just 12 mths ago under using the same access point. They refused to agree to do the work. This is totally unacceptable and makes no sense!!

Continued... Is septic tank (turns out to be right where it's at). Crew comes Sunday morning, does great job, in two hours, two guys put this access port in and undercover tank right where I thought it is. Say my pipes were crystal clear. How in world can two guys for two hours with six feet of PVC pipe rack up a $3800+ bill?!? I ask for itemized bill, haven't got one yet, don't think I will. Now it's Sunday afternoon, still no drains and truck can't come back till Monday morning. We both work Monday so we agree on first thing Tuesday morning. Not happy, but can't take off. So Tuesday comes, no truck. I call about 10am, oh sorry, he is pumping grease, it will be Wednesday. Finally Wednesday he comes (while I am at work) and pumps tank, which wasn't completely full and didn't fix problem, because I still had a drain blockage. I exploded!!, he called in the rooter crew but he was able to clear fit with his truck after a time. Another $350..., but he did give me an $80 discount... Oh boy!

Very responsive. Arrived within one hour of call having been placed. Service person wore shoe covers and was otherwise very considerate of the property. He quickly diagnosed the problem and indicated that it was going to cost $239 to repair. He snaked the drain and demonstrated that the problem had been corrected. I found the price to be much higher than I had expected. I assume that had we called a regular plumber and waited the day or so for their visit that we would have paid considerably less. I also found the quoting of the final price before the work had been done to be strange, especially since the actual time required to complete the clean out was about 15 minutes.

The project was well thought by Roto Rooter. The toilet was placed inside the closet, plenty of room available for it and necessary items. The plumbing was run through the floor down through the ceiling and into a closet and then down through the floor to the basement lines. The sink and vanity were placed on the outside of the closet against the closet wall, the plumbing was run inside the attic and through the wall to the vanity, nothing is visible. The system was inspected and passed by county sanitation. Roto Rooter did a very neat and responsive installation.

Difficult job. Provider tried to use the electic snake to clear. No go. He finally had to remove the whole toilet and then snake the line.

He did the rooter thing 2x to make sure all problems were taken care of.. Which was great for the older pipes in my home. He was polite and answered all my question, Even with the coupon they were over priced by $30 bucks. every-one else called back after 8am and I didn't want to push my time back as I was hoping roto rooter would be on time, I had made it about 3am was told they would be here by 10am they did have to called to let me know they were running late abt 30-45 mins,, Which I don't know why when I was told there was 2 other appointments before me.. I thought they was 24 hours.

Great service. Appointment the same day. Technician, Andy, was very knowledgeable and helpful.
