Chris schedule me right away. Chris asked me to send pictures of the broken faucet. Joe and Scott came with 2 faucet choices, similar to the pictures...I appreciated the initiative! They were helpful and professional. As I was very pleased with Chris' service on May 14th (toilet), I called him for this incident. I give Narrow Path Plumbing an outstanding rating!

The crew - Tracy, Joe, and Bob (excavator) were amazing. The sewer line, water line and GAS LINE were all ran in the same ditch 96 years ago when the house was built. Hitting a gas line is not just expensive and dangerous - but also a time issue as Vectren would have to replace the line. These guys painstakingly worked to expose the lines. The gas line was right beside the sewer line - just not as deep. So each time Bob would have to work the bucket into the trench SOMEHOW not hitting the line to remove dirt below. The sewer line was at around 9 feet while the gas line was at a little less than 5 feet. They had to run the sewer line as they went and back fill to hold the gas line in place against the bank as they progressed toward the curb. They also had to cut and replace the water line as it was directly on top of the sewer line AND remove the meter to dig out and finish running the line as the meter was on also on top of the sewer line. I do not believe that another excavator and crew could have done this job. Certainly not without hitting the gas line. I have never seen anyone be able to maneuver a piece of heavy equipment so accurately. Tracy knew exactly what needed to happen to ensure the line stayed intact and the sewer line (and water line) was ran properly. They worked SO hard for two days to get this job done right. Chris is lucky to have such dedicated and experienced guys working for him. If this wasn't impressive enough I have a bed of 150 tulips on the south side of the trench. I had resigned myself to seeing the last of them for this year. Given the narrowness of my lot I figured that they would end up under a giant pile of dirt - it has to go somewhere... not one flower was covered, bent, broken, trampled, or in in way damaged. Bob somehow piled dirt right up to them without ever touching one. When Tracy was cleaning up he didn't touch one... I do more damage getting in to weed the bed... Chris is not the cheapest guy in town for this type of work but if you get this crew it is well worth work being done on your home correctly.

I contacted the provider through Angies list messaging to get discount and schedule appointment. I wrote that we had tried to replace our laundry tub faucet but we couldn't get it off (nut was very tight and it was very difficult to reach, tools we had didn't work in the small space either). Also, we had got the pipes loose so the water had to be off. Water ran to washer so I could not wash. I received a reply by morning saying to give a call and they could come out this afternoon. I contacted Mr. Adams and told him that I would only be here until about 2:30pm because of a doctor appointment at 3pm. He said he could probably be at my house after he finished with the job he was on and he would call me to let me know. When he was finished with that job, he did call me back and said he was in Dayton and could be over within 15 minutes. He arrived on time like he said. With the right tool and strength he was able to get the old faucet off. Mr. Adams was friendly and courteous. I am pleased with the work he did and glad I have new faucet that doesn't leak hot water on my laundry tub! My mother-in-law has used Narrow Path before and was pleased with their services so besides Angie's list ratings, this was another reason I went with this company.

They immediately responded to our questions and continued follow up to ensure they were able to assist us. They arrived as arranged and worked quickly to get jobs done. Professional and personable. Gave status and suggestions throughout install. We're going to have them come back out and install a water pressure tank which he suggested when he was here. Our water pressure is low and our current tank is not working appropriately. He suggested a larger tank and higher psi. We would definitely recommend this company and will use them again.

I just bought a house in Springboro and I wanted someone to check the status/life/quality of the current sump pump and also install a battery back-up pump. I called the company and spoke to the owner, Chris Adams. I told him I wanted a high quality back-up system installed and possibly replace the primary pump. He advised that they only use Zoeller Pumps (which I knew to be the best in the industry) and quoted me a price between $700 and $900 depending on the status of our primary pump. Chris had to order the back-up pump and called me when it came in to schedule the install. I was not home when the work was done, but Chris called me when they were finished. He advised that they only installed the back-up system as the current pump was in good shape. He could've lied and added a few hundred dollars to replace the primary pump but Chris obviously runs an honest business. I checked their work and everything looked great. The sump pit was sealed because of a radon system and they resealed it like they were never there. Given the price of the pump system($500.00) and battery($100) I only paid $170 for labor, which is a great deal in my book considering they had to unseal and reseal the sump pit cover.

Outstanding communication and installation. They had the unit I needed in stock and were able to install it the following day. I compared prices with 3 different (highly-rated) plumbers in my area, and Narrow Path offered the lowest price. They were intelligent and professional. They were in and out in little over an hour. I would definitely hire them again.

Arrived home Thursday evening to a leaking water heater. Reviewed service providers on Angie's List and identified Narrow Path Plumbing as a top choice. Concerned that I could have a major problem if the water heater wasn't replaced before the weekend, I called Narrow Path at ~7:15 AM Friday morning. The phone was answered by Chris Adams (owner). I explained my situation to Chris and asked if he would be able to fit in a water heater installation that day. Chris took down my name and address, the type and size of water heater that was required and indicated that he would be at my house between 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. He pulled in the driveway at ~11:00 AM, accompanied by his assistant Josh and a new water heater. By 12:30 PM the job was complete and the old water heater had been removed from the house. Chris took the time to show me how to adjust the thermostat settings and how to properly flush the system to maximize the service life of the water heater. He also gave me some ideas on a future bathroom remodling project. This was an absolutely exceptional level of service. I wouldn't hesitate to use Narrow Path Plumbing again and would highly recommend Chris to anyone requiring plumbing services.

I have had 5 good experiences with the list, however: This is my third bad experience with Angie's List. This most recent visit from Narrow Path walked a narrow path between bait and switch. If lines cannot be tested, that should be revealed before the visit. BTW: I responded to an Angie's List email about this late last week. This is the second response I have filed, yet the first one is not on my page. My second bad experience came from a chimney company promising a cleaning and video of my chimney to see if repairs would be needed. The cleaning went fine (I guess), but the video camera was "broken" at the time (though as noted by the owner in his rebuttal, it was not broken), so no evidence of damage was presented to me. However, they did offer to fix my chimney cracks for $740.00. Didn't bite again. No promise of the missing video was ever offered. I complained on my review and received a call from the owner who assured me things were on the up and up, but never offered to video my chimney for me. He may have done so if I had asked, but I decided not to ask at that point. I ended up paying the full amount ($99 ?) for the cleaning minus the video. It was a fine price for the cleaning, so no complaint there, but the bid to repair damage I was never shown, as was promised, left a bad impression. This was the response from the company: Company Response: Hello, (Member name removed) I hope you received my voicemail with my apologies, I called 937-298-1498. It appears we did miss the rescheduling of your roof inspection but with the video camera issues I understand your hesitation to call us. I bought all new cameras at the beginning of the season and instructed all three crews to perform a video inspection at each job. I checked the cameras after your review and they are all working. I spoke with my new technicians and they had no recollection but after my lecture I'm sure this communication error will not happen again. Thank you for the opportunity & I wish there was more we could of done right to win your trust. Take care & please ask for me personally if you are ever willing to give us another chance. Patrick Archer ARCO Remodeling Of course, no partial refund was offered. Gosh, too bad the techs didn't remember not being able to video. One had the presence of mind to tell me he had worked previously for a chimney company that would do repairs when not needed, but assured me this company was not like that. And, of course, Angie's List knew of my complaint, as it was registered on the website...no response from them. However, my review was updated 4 days later with a grade of "C." FUNNY, I can't remember updating my review. Wonder how That happened??? My third incident was not on my property. A plumber from Angie's List did nice work for me. I, in turn, recommended them to a soon-to-list real estate client to repair a leaky bath tub which had previously damaged the ceiling on the first floor below it. The job was badly botched. The ceiling was once again damaged and the plumber had the gall to claim it wasn't his fault. The tub hadn't been used, as it was a vacant property. The plumber offered to come out again and charge for the service. I don't know if my client used them or a competitor to fix the damage. However, the "client" listed the property with another agent. So, my question to Angie's List is whether I can have my $49 back from the gas line deal, and a pro-rated amount of my membership fee representing the rest of my contract?
Description of Work: Nothing. Service man (nice guy) reported and was unfamiliar with my Angie's List deal...what it entailed. When I told him it was to check my gas line (wanted to install gas logs in fireplace), he told me the only way to do so was to pressure test my lines with 20# (I think) of pressure which would blow out gas lines of this age according to him. So his solution was to scrap the Angie's List deal and sent an estimate of between $1200-1500 for various courses of action. According to him, there was no way to test my lines (no gas smell, never has been one) and use them for my purposes. I didn't bite.

Work was done in a 4 unit apartment building. Chris Adams examined vent next to electrolysis and found that it had rusted through at the bottom. Chris immediately turned off water heater because of carbon dioxide danger. When talking to me Chris gave me a verbal estimate of $750 to replace - with water heater, which is $50 more than I had paid Home Depot in 2009. I asked if that included the inspection, and he said that would be an additional $50. I accepted the offer because I did not want to shop for water heaters - neither of us mentioned that he had turned off the gas. We inspected the other water heaters in the basement and Chris pointed out another heater was missing a tag and that he didn't think the water heater would pass inspection. This was the oldest water heater in the basement. Chris offered to discount inspections if I got two heaters and he would do the work in the afternoon so that apartment would have hot water next day. I agreed. When he did the work Chris showed me that the installation of the original water heater was missing one soldered joint. Not clear to me how this caused the electrolysis, but I had inspected the water heaters when I had the ACs serviced the previous May. There was no sign of electrolysis. When we looked at the water heater it looked like a cave formation with lime stalactites coming off the pipe and around the vent. I recommend Narrow Path unconditionally because the price was what I would have expected from a contractor from Home Depot. The ratings on the water heaters look better than what I would have purchased at Home Depot. Chris was detail oriented ... more so than other plumbers who I had do the same installations. He described the code to me for the venting, which I was familiar with because in 2005 I had to have an installation done with a different type of water heater because the inspector did not pass the slope on the vent. Narrow Path put in the hot water heaters and THEN called to get the building permits. The city had recently differentiated between commercial units and apartment units, in addition they needed the apartment numbers for the units before scheduling the inspection. Chris called me twice to let me know I needed to get back with Kettering ... once he left a message, and then called after hours a day later to make sure that I had received the message. The second time, talking to Chris about the inspection process, he let me know that the inspections had cost more than he had estimated, but would not discuss the difference, chalking it up to the cost of doing business. I appreciate Narrow Path because: 1) They are concerned about safety. When Chris saw the danger associated with the CO2 he immediately turned off the gas to the heater, and then said he would get to it in the afternoon. He did not point out that he had extinguished the flame on the hot water heater, and it was NOT my perception that he was using this as a sales tactic. If I was an irresponsible landlord I would have had to relit the water heater or the tenant would have run out of hot water. This is not the kind of professionalism that I've seen from contract plumbers. 2) Chris had come for a simple one hour repair that I had purchased from Angie's list when I found the leaking water softener. After the diagnosis he installed the new water heaters te same day. I know that he had to scramble to do that. He started at 2 and finished at 4:30 when he discovered the problem at 9:00. When we looked at the water softener he was going to come back the next day to fix it. 3) When faced with an additional charge from the city Chris wrote this up as the cost of doing business, even after I tried to re-imburse him from the difference. Narrow Path is my new goto plumber! Update: Talked to Kettering Inspector about why electrolysis occurred. He showed me that Narrow Path had put di-electric couplings coming out of the water heater, and that my other two heaters did not have these couplings. He said normally if there is a problem it is in the water heater not outside, but that this was good practice to isolate heater from the plumbing. This is not necessary for code, but it is good for safety, as shown in my case where a circuit was created within the heater up to the other coupling after 6 years, and the electrolysis created a CO2 hazard in less than a year. I believe Narrow Path's mission is about quality not just sweating joints and making sales.
Description of Work: Bought special in order to fix valve from wall to toilet fill and bypass leaking water softner. When in the basement noticed water heater installed 2009 had heavy electrolysis and asked plumber for estimate to replace.

It went not that well. We woudn't go back to them. The big deal was at that price. They saw that our pressure tank needed to be replaced. They came back at another time and did that. On the positive side we did have a leak under our sink where we asked them to hook it up. The owner came right out and fixed it for us. That was very good. We're impressed with that. The owner showed us he was really involved and that he was concerned about making sure that we didn't have a leak under the sink.
