Butler Heating & Air Conditioning is proud to be Dayton owned & operated since 1949! We design, service and install complete comfort systems, which includes heating and cooling and indoor air quality (IAQ). Butler is a Factory Authorized Carrier dealer and Mitsubishi Diamond Preferred Contractor. In addition, we maintain and service all makes and models of propane, natural gas, and electric furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners & boiler systems. Our service technicians are NATE certified. We've been offering quality merchandise and reliable service for over 70 years. Description of Work: Needed repairs on a gas fired boiler system that provides baseboard heat. Tried at least 12 different companies, and no one works on these old systems. A couple had told us we needed to update and install conventional heat and duct work. In frustration, joined Angies List and located Butler Heating that works on our system. When the tech arrived, we were relieved that he obviously knew what he was doing and was able to provide us heat on the spot, no waiting for parts etc, and keep this unit going for hopefully years to come. Can't thank them enough, shouldn't have been such a journey to find a responsible company. Will call them again and continue to use Angies List now that we know how helpful it can be. Thank you Butler.

Description of Work: Cleaned furnace but had other problems then it became a guessing game! They tried to sell me a gas valve which was another $400.00 plus and that was not the problem! They did not want to finish job.

On November 20, 2013, this customer called our company for her sister for a “no heat” issue. We scheduled the call for November 21, 2013. Upon arrival our technician checked over the furnace and found that the pilot and burner needed cleaned. He cleaned the pilot and burner. He checked the safeties and flue and found them to be ok. He cycled the heat on to discover that the burner and pilot would go out due to pressure loss from propane tank. The customer needed to call a propane company for repair. We charged the customer $185.95 at this time for services rendered. We returned on November 22, 2013 after the propane company addressed the tank issues. We completed diagnostics- not charging for a service call, only our time spent finishing the diagnostics. The technician tested the gas valve operation finding it to be ok and no longer dropping out. The technician then found that the burner was cycling out due to an improper flue cap causing a restriction in air intake. He found the flue pipe to be very rusty. Customer informed the technician that she would order a flue cap from Home Depot and her son would do the repair. We collected $135.00 to complete the diagnostics on this return service call.

Description of Work: Overall, they met the important objectives. They installed my new heater and AC in 3 days, installed more intake vents (reason the old was out of service), and even refunded part of the purchase price after a price was contracted because they got a large discount from their supplier they didn't expect. I've had the unit for 6 mo's now and I'm 100% satisfied with the work. I would have rated them an 'A' but they jar told my wife they would clean our vents as part of the agreed price, install a on/off baffle for the basement intake and bathroom bathroom vent,.... But since I didn't insist the salesman put this in the original quote, I didn't push the issue very hard when the worker who did the install wasn't aware. Overall, I got a very reasonable price and great work... Just not everything I expected.

Member, I really am sorry for not including the duct cleaning on the final quote. My notes show that after we discussed cleaning the ducts that this was not necessary. After I looked down the ducts, we agreed that they were not as dirty as previously thought due to the very poor air circulation that you had been experiencing. This type of company fail to understand that a simple response to a simple question would possibly result in future business from myself and by friends and family. Oh well.

Description of Work: I have always used Butler since I bought this house 25 years ago. They replaced the furnace and A/C years ago and the A/C again last year. I have only called them for repair service 2 or 3 times in addition to installing and routine service checks. They probably are not the cheapest,but are always very prompt and professional
