He was professional and very nice. He even gave me advice on what brands I should NOT buy.
Description of Work: He checked my wash machine to see if it was repairable. It was repairable but he told me it would probably cost so much that I should get a new machine.

I called the office on Friday after realizing that my dryer was not working and scheduled an appointment for Saturday morning. Tom arrived after spending a long morning addressing a refrigerator issue for another customer and quickly diagnosed my problem and replaced the broken pieces. He was in out and in 15 minutes and now my dryer is back in working order!

I recently moved into my house. There was no manual for the stove & refrigerator. There was an odd "code" appearing on the stove and the ice maker in the frig didn't appear to be working. Also, I couldn't get the dryer's vent connected properly, and the washer's drain system ( no wash tub) concerned me -- and I'm no plumber. So I looked on Angie's List and determined the Appliance Doctor would meet my needs. I called to leave a message the evening of July 3 and the recording said the business was closed for the whole holiday week-end. Since I didn't have an emergency, I left my name/number & service need, assuming I'd get a call on Monday and could hopefully get an appointment sometime the next week. To my delight, I got a call Monday morning and was told he could see me that same day, even though he had 6 other appointments. The gentleman arrived by EARLY afternoon. He quickly fixed the stove - just needed a reset. The Ice Maker in the refrigerator was debatable and he told me it would probably need a replacement, but first he'd see if it would work. He also told me if it doesn't work he'll come out at no additional service charge to replace it within 30 days. And he told me how much the new ice maker would cost me - a very reasonable cost. From there he moved to the Washer/Dryer. First - I was correct in not trying to run the water previously because the drain pipe needed a cap where a laundry tub would have been connected . He then offered to run to the hardware store ( nearby ) to pick up a cap & install it. I was so happy he offered ! When he returned, he capped the pipe, then connected the vent on the dryer ( which was more difficult than it had appeared ). All the fixes were easy ones, but he made my life easier and was very helpful, as well as friendly and professional. Very importantly - the price was really right !! As it turns out, the Ice Maker isn't working. At least we gave it a try. I will definitely call the Appliance Doctor to replace it.

The dryer stopped tumbling on Saturday. I called and left a message on the voice mail, late Saturday. The office called back when they opened on Monday! I scheduled the visit for Tuesday morning, since I was unavailable on Monday! I was given an 'aprroximate' time as 'second stop' on Tuesday, and the first stop was in the neighborhood! He called before coming! Upon arrival, he got to it right away and confirmed it was a broken belt! He replaced it. When he came up from the basement, he had a HUGE handful (actually took both hands) of change. The change was from the bottom, inside of the dryer: (17) quarters, (32) dimes, (6) nickles, and (53) pennies for a total of $8.28 !! An unexpected dividend and a show of honesty and integrity!!

My daughter and her family, including 2 year old. were staying with me until they could move into their new home. My dryer broke on a Friday with piles of laundry everywhere. I called two other recommended services, neither could help me until Monday, it was Fri when I called. Appliance Doctor, He not only came the next day, but there was no weekend up charge. He was prompt, called ahead of his arrival, got right to it, found the problem and fixed it, in less than an hour...couldn't have been any happier or more pleased, He was very pleasant and professional and the price was very fair...A+

The Appliance Doctor arrived on time, calling before hand to let me know he was on the way, to repair the ice dispenser on the refrigerator door. He took the dispenser apart and assessed it for needed repairs and then left to pick up the part saying he would be back in two hours. Again he called to let me know he was on his way to the house. He performed the repair quickly and carefully, explained what was wrong, left us with all the manufacturer's instructions and warranty information, and said if we had any problems with the dispenser in the next month he would come out again at no charge. He also gave us a discount for using Angie's List. I would definitely use him again for appliance repairs.
Description of Work: The Appliance Doctor repaired the ice dispenser in our refrigerator door. This involved coming to the house twice -- once to take apart the dispenser and determine what exactly was broken, and again two hours later after leaving to pick up the correct part and returning to do the actual repair. It is a good thing my whole afternoon was clear so I could wait for him to come back and do the repair. On the other hand, if I had needed to leave, I could easily have just rescheduled for him to come back with the part to do the actual repair.

He is great. I called him and he came out the same day. His line was busy and I couldn’t get through to him. In the morning when I discovered the smell at 11 o’clock, I tried to call him and I left a message. He is one man operation so he was out probably doing a call. He called me back probably about noon and he told me that he could be out here by 2 or 3. He was out, he fixed it and it was fine. He came out the same day which was great. He is very good. The price was reasonable to fix my dryer because he just had to put a new fuse. It wasn’t real expensive.
Description of Work: I used Appliance Doctor to fix my stove and the dishwasher. The last time he came he fixed the dryer. When I push the button on the dryer it wouldn’t start, there was some fuse that was out so he fixed that.

Privately owned and operated company by Thomas Keihl. Thomas came on the same day we spoke. He was efficient, pleasant and extremely knowledgeable and skilled. His prices are very reasonable, and he offered to replace the oven timer without charging a service call if he returned within a month of his initial visit.

I had placed a new tenant in a rental property and was unaware that the refrigerator wasn't working properly. When I called the Appliance Doctor that morning, the young lady who fielded my call was very pleasant and professional. The tenant understandably needed a quick fix and I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from the technician the same afternoon advising me that the job was done. Service doesn't get any better than that and I felt that the cost was reasonable. Definitely now my vendor of choice for appliance work.

When I called about my broken dryer, the lady who did the scheduling asked me the make and age. I assume that must help them decide what parts they'll need to have on hand. She said she would put me down for the first appointment of the morning, approximately 9am, and the repairman would call beforehand. The call came promptly at 9am. Once he arrived, he diagnosed and fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. I would absolutely call Appliance Doctor again. They showed up exactly when they said and had the necessary parts available in the van. No fuss, no trauma, plus the Angies's List discount. Love it!

The Appliance Doctor rocks! I called at around 11:00 a.m. and he was able to set a 1:00 p.m. service call for that same day. He called at 12:40 p.m. and said he was 20 minutes away, and he arrived at 1:01 p.m. I told him that the Frigidaire front load washer would not spin, and he quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty door switch. He called around to find the lowest price from the closest supplier. He got the part, installed it, and was gone by 2:00 p.m. He only charged for his service call ($65, which includes 15 minutes of labor) and another $30 for labor, and I got 10% off because I'm an Angie's List member. My wife and I were impressed by his promptness, his speed in diagnosing and fixing the problem, his professionalism, and his price.
Description of Work: Diagnosed Frigidaire front load washer's failure to spin as a faulty door switch and made the repair (part cost: $95.00).

My tenant called to inform me that the refrigerator was not working. She was understandably upset because she had just been to the grocery the night before had had a fridge full of food that was going to go bad. I called several appliance repair companies, but no one had an opening for at least a full day. Most of them would have been a 2 or 3 day wait. I found Appliance Doctor here on Angie's List and liked the reviews I read. Better yet, they could get someone there within 90 minutes because the technician was nearby on another job and could fit me in. About 45 minutes later, The technician called to say he was on his way to the rental property. I called my tenant to let her know, then left to meet him there. It's about 15 minutes away. By the time I got there, the technician was ALREADY FINISHED with the repair (replacing a siezed fan motor). The work was insanely fast, he was pleasant, didn't make a mess, didn't condescend to either me (I'm female) or my tenant the way some male contractors do, and fixed the problem with a part he already had on the truck. No one is happy to pay for a repair, but considering he only billed me for 15 minutes of his time, I could not be happier with the service or price. My tenant was thrilled with the speed of the repair as well, and keeping my tenant happy is important to me. I will never call another appliance repair company. Appliance Doctor has earned my business forever! If you need an appliance repair, call them. STAT!

If you are simply looking for a repair technician to quickly repair your refrigerator/freezer, then this is the company for you. Also, if you are looking for a repair technician to not introduce himself, hand you an extremely hot part without first letting you know the part is hot, and leave a mess in your kitchen, then this company is for you also. The responsiveness of this company was impressive. We called them on a Saturday morning and they were able to send a repair technician within 2 hours. The technician called in advance before coming over, so we had advance notice before he arrived at our door. However, as soon as we opened the door for the technician, he quickly walked into the house without even introducing himself. He also did not bother to ask what the actual problem is. Maybe the basic information we had provided the receptionist when scheduling the appointment was enough information? While taking the back panel of the freezer off, he noticed we do not use our ice maker, and he volunteered to remove it for us. This sounded good to us, as this frees up some unused space in the freezer. After removing the ice maker, he handed it to me, which I grabbed with both hands - one on top, and the other on the bottom. Apparently there is a heater along the bottom of the ice maker, which is *extremely* hot. The tips of my fingers touched the heater, leaving me with a first degree burn on several fingers. I was not aware of this, and the technician failed to inform me of this when handing me the ice maker. When I threw the ice maker on the counter and mentioned I burnt myself, the technician said I must have touched the heater on the bottom of the ice maker. After the fact is most definitely the worst time to inform me that there is an extremely hot heater that I shouldn't touch. After the technician was finished, there was water all over the counter, and all of the food that he removed from the freezer was sitting on the stove. The technician did not bother to clean up the water or the food, or even offer for that matter. I understand that the longer the technician is occupied at my house, the more expensive the final bill will be, and I actually don't mind reorganizing the freezer, but I generally expect technicians to at least offer to clean up their mess when they are finished. They fixed the problem, but not without losing a potential repeat customer in the process.
Description of Work: We used this company to get the fan in our refrigerator/freezer repaired. The fan, which is located inside the freezer, had stopped working. The repair technician from Appliance Doctor removed the panel in the back wall of the freezer, replaced the fan with a new one, and then put the panel back in place.

It went GREAT. He was on time, and quickly addressed the problem! He was VERY fast in disassembling the unit to test (Unlike some service people who take their time to bump up the charges). He quickly isolated the problem and gave us options. It was repaired quickly and back in service! The bill was very reasonable for the services performed!!
Description of Work: We had been noticing that the washer had been acting 'funny' for the last couple weeks. It would periodically stop at the end of the wash cycle. We had been able to 'nurse' it along, but yesterday, it refused to drain. We called him late yesterday afternoon, and has came out the next morning. (He calls before coming, too!!) He got right to work on the washer, and was extremely FAST.. He isolated the problem to a switch and gave options on repair! He quickly repaired the problem.

It’s nice to have a company like the Appliance Doctor located in our area because so many times now it is less costly to repair an appliance than to replace it. He comes out with a very, very accurate estimate so that you can actually do your homework in the meantime to actually figure out whether you should fix or purchase a new item. Every time I’ve had him out here, he’s been on time. He’s very pleasant to work with. He’s reasonable and knowledgeable in his field.
Description of Work: Malfunction in microwave caused a part to be replaced and ordered and repaired which costs quite a bit less than replacing the microwave itself. His specialty, and he has worked for me before, on any appliance is up into and including ranges, dishwashers, refrigerators.

I called Tom and left a message that my dryer was making a loud, screeching noise and would like to have him come out and take a look at it. Within minutes I received a call back from Tom saying he would be available later that same day. In about an hour from my initial call, Tom called me and said he was on his way. When he arrived at the house, he got straight to work. He is very confident and efficient. He quickly had the dryer apart and found a pulley to be bad. He had that part in stock on his van, replaced it and had the dryer back together, all in about a half hour. I was so impressed, I asked him to take a look at a refrigerator I had in my basement that leaked water. Again, he had diagnosed what he thought the problem was, had the refrigerator torn apart, fixed and put back together in about 15 minutes. For under $120 I had 2 appliances repaired and working great! I was very happy with Tom's work and would definitely use him again and recommend others to do the same.
Description of Work: My electric clothes dryer was making a loud screeching noise when running. The tumbler turned and the heat was working. Tom determined the problem to be a pulley that needed replaced. That fixed the problem. I also had Tom look at an old refrigerator that we use in our basement. It was leaking water around the bottom and would, at times, collect water on the shelves inside. It ended up being a clogged drain that Tom had fixed in about 15 minutes. He also adjusted the door while he was there.
