Description of Work: I did not use them because although he advertised that he serviced Portage County he did not service Ravenna. He would have to charge me extra to come to Ravenna. Ravenna is in Portage County. He needs to define his service area more. I would have liked to use him but I was not going to pay more for him to come to Ravenna.

Description of Work: Richard came on a Sunday morning. He cut out and spliced my door frame going into garage. Richard replaced the striker so I could lock the door again. The door works fine and seals tight again. He also cleaned up when he was done.

+ 1 moreWater damage to front of garage caused most of the wood to rott as well as the existing entry door. Richard took care of all repairs using quality materials which resulted in a very nice finished product, giving us the choice of several kinds of material. Richard has communicated via e-mail with his initial quote and also with the times he would be here for work and what he expected to do. He was very professional and took the necessary time to do a good job, but the job was completed in a timely fashion. He is a good/dependable worker and knows his materials and job well; I would highly recommend him and will be using him for future work.
Description of Work: Garage Door - Repair jamb @ garage entry door by replacing with clear cedar. Replace brickmold with PVC brickmold. Add aluminum brick cap. Prime, caulk, paint all trim. Entry Door - Replace with fiberglass entry door and aluminum jam bottom. Replace bricmold with PVC brickmold. Added aluminum brick cap. Replaced entry door lock. Prime, caulk nail holes, paint. Made repairs to concrete block beneath existing entry door.

He refused to provide an estimate-stated that he would use too much gas to give in person estimate. He even refused to provide a ball park estimate over the phone after I stated what I would like to have done. If Mr. Droman refuses to do "small" jobs he should not be listed as a handyman.
Description of Work: Mr. Droman refused to provide an estimate, so the work was not performed.

He handled every aspect of this job, from giving us catalogs from which we selected color, wood type and style to ordering to staining to installing. The finished work is nothing short of breathtaking. And he does this at an unbeatable price. You get what you pay for -- and then some from him.
Description of Work: Richard re-did the cabinets in two bathrooms in our home. Rather than tearing out and starting over, he was able to reface the existing the structure with new wood, which he matched to factory-bought drawers.

However, his attitude was pretty negative and he repeatedly made comments about how the work would only be as good as the house in which it was being done. He also told me that I needed a husband and I needed to clean out my garage. The work was fine, but I could really have done without the commentary.
Description of Work: Wooden deck repaired, painted and re-stained. Toilet reset, light fixture replaced, light switch replaced, laminate flooring installed at entrance, and carpentry work.

+ -1 moreRichard is both very professional and skilled in his craft. He laid out his work on multiple parts of the job simultaneously, making the best use of his time for all parts of the job. He arrived when he said he would and worked full days to get the job done. Cleanup each day was very good, as the work was being done right in the middle of our home with 3 kids, 1 dog and 2 cats. Overall, it really looks great!
Description of Work: The scope of work included repairing second floor subfloor (was settled in some spots), new drywall in hallway, some drywall repair, installation of a small linen closet and door, plaster repair of kitchen, electrical 2-way switch and hall light installation. We also asked that he match the existing wood trim (85 year old house) on the new walls, bathroom doorway and new hall closet.

Description of Work: Worked on 2 outside entry doors. Refitted and adjusted them. Fixed the hinges so door would stop sagging as it closed. He repaired the jams and installed compression weatherstripping and molding. He removed and replaced locks and deadbolts on both also. He sanded and patched some holes, nicks, etc. on the faces of the doors and other miscellaneous patching and fitting.

+ -1 moreWe had some scheduling conflicts to begin with that caused a delay of about a month. (Both mine and his) But it only took him about 1 1/2 hrs to do the actual installation. I chose to do the staining and sealing myself, but he sanded it very well. He even mitered the end into the frame. It is very secure. I got some additional "while you are here, can I ask some additional questions" advice and suggestions. As a result he will be returning to do additional work. Even my neighbor approved of the job, and he can usually find something wrong!
Description of Work: He installed a new handrail to my basement. He had to deal with an offset in the wall that it attached to and some help from my cats.

Worked with a difficult material I had already purchased. He has great attention to every detail. He exceeded my expectations---even being able to install the trim in a difficult area that I didn't expect he could. It's rare to find someone who cares so much about the quality of their work.
Description of Work: Richard installed a decorative corner molding on all lower floor entry ways--picture framing the drywall corners.

Richard did everything he could to keep costs down (looking around town for matching molding and tiles, for example) and was excellent about communicating what the next steps were. I gave him a key and he came and went as he needed to. They were good about cleaning up at the end of each visit as well. It took about 5 visits, some of this because the bathroom work needed to dry between steps. Richard is a perfectionist---his work is flawless. I have asked Richard to do another job as a result of this great experience and wouldn't hesitate to have him do future jobs (in fact I wouldn't consider anyone else!).
Description of Work: Richard and partner Dave replaced the crown molding in a very large dining/living room (there were big gaps in the previous molding because I took down some draperies). He also moved an electrical box in the dining room ceiling to center it over my table, and installed a chandelier. The third thing (major) was replacing some tile in the threshold of a 9 year old shower that had significant water damage. He caulked cracks in the tile with matching caulk, fixed part of a nearby wall that had also been water damaged.

+ 1 moreThe finished work is lovely -- Richard is a perfectionist who takes great pride in doing a superb job. He shows up when he says he will and works the whole time he is on site. Richard managed to save much of the old material that was being removed for re-use on other projects. His rates are slightly higher than average, but the quality of his work is considerably higher than average. He also referred us to a specialist painter for some other work we needed to get done.
Description of Work: Installation of kitchen cabinets. Measuring, template, and lamination of countertops. Installation of electric stove, gas cook-top, sink and disposal, dishwasher. Various complicated and atypical woodwork throughout. Detailed measurements and custom manufacture of solutions. Instruction to salvage old materials for re-use as much as possible.

+ 1 moreI called Mr Droman and received a prompt call back that evening. The next day he stopped by the observe the job and then the following day we had a written estimate via email. He explained that he was currently very busy with three other jobs, but if we wished to wait for him, he would do ours before the weather closed in. We elected to wait for him and he did the job about three weeks later. The job required most of one day and part of another to do the finish painting. He was extremely nice and did not even charge extra for the repair to the second window which had not been included in his estimate, since he was unaware of a problem with that one until he was on the job.
Description of Work: Window framing was rotted, likely due to carpenter ants. Mr Droman replaced rotted window sill, blind stops, brick mold with PVC brick mold and used an aluminum coil sill. He then primed, caulked, insulated and painted the window frame. He also did a temporary repair on a 2nd window sill which was just beginning to rot by coiling the sill with aluminum. He felt that would hold for quite some time before a major repair was needed. He did an excellent job. The repaired window looks much better than the others and he did his work in a knowledgeable, neat and professional way. We are very satisfied and feel this recommendation alone was worth the cost of becoming a member of Angie's List.
