The installation was a little challenging because of the way the stairway was and part of it was two-story so he quoted me a cost not to exceed. He finished it half a day less and he adjusted the price accordingly. I was quite pleased with the price. He was a very professional individual and he cared very much about the quality of the work he provides to his people.

Droman said he wasn't sure. The next day he left a voicemail saying he was too busy to do the job. Honestly, I've used Angie's List often in the past, and I have never had a response such as this.

+ 2 moreVery satisfied with the overall experience and the work he did was quality work. He was true to his estimate and there were no surprises as far as price, which I thought was reasonable for the amount and quality of work performed.
Description of Work: I contacted Richard to see if he could correct a very botched installation of a new bathroom vanity cabinet which had been done by a handyman, and I also needed new baseboard trim installed in my kitchen, bathrooms, and foyers where new ceramic tile had recently been laid. He came several days later to look at what I needed to have done and did a very thorough assessment of the work needed and spent a lot of time measuring and explaining the options to me. A few days later I received a very thorough estimate of all the work I had asked him to do in my home. In addition to fixing the botched cabinet installation so it now looks just beautiful, he raised the vanity cabinet in the master bath a couple of inches, installed new granite countertops in both baths, installed the faucets on both sinks, installed a new bath/shower trim kit in the main bath, removed three older recessed medicine cabinets in the baths and patched the drywall just beautifully, hung a new medicine cabinet in one bath and a large mirror in the other, installed vanity lights, drawer pulls, and installed the baseboard trim. He also agreed to install a new bathroom light/fan combo and repair more drywall in the master bath--work not included in the original estimate but added on to it. . His work is impeccable, he has high standards as to how the outcome should look, he cleans up after himself, takes care to protect carpets, etc., keeps the homeowner informed and stays in close communication all through the job process. I hired him based on Angie's List reviews and will hire him again for any future home improvement needs. I would also highly recommend him to family and friends if they are in search of a quality carpenter.

+ 0 moreI hired Richard to frame my entire basement in preparation for finishing. I am acting as my own general contractor and am subbing out certain desired pieces. 1st off and most importantly, Richard did an excellent job and I would hire again in a second. The aspects I appreciated most about him are his attention to detail, thought he puts into each piece, questions he asked, and then the fact that he never rushed it. He has a busy schedule, but treated the job like it was his own and ensured it was done absolutely perfect. I cant say enough about that piece. You see guys come in all the time and rush through one thing in order to get to the next. Richard is the exact opposite and I never once felt like he was cutting a corner (no pun intended). He went above and beyond for me. He is highly talented and takes a tremendous amount of pride in his work. Im ecstatic the way the basement has turned out and I am confident it will work out perfect as I move to the next stages of the project.

Description of Work: Richard installed 8 ft. cedar closets and a stair case. His work was excellent and extremely reasonable. I am having my kitchen remodeled and I forgot about him and boy am I paying the price. Nobody does it all like him and I have had numerous delays because this person is waiting for that person. I could just kick me! Frustrated in Fairlawn.

+ 0 moreThe project went very well from start to finish. Richard promptly came out and provided an estimate after my original call. He was always on time and did what he could within reason to work around our busy schedules. Rather than just throw in a door and storm door like many installers would do, he actually took time to step back and fully assess the project both before and during the project to make sure that everything would work. He also communicated with us throughout the project whenever an issue arose to make sure we were in agreement as to everything he was doing. He did a great job of remedying issues caused by our orginal builder. When you watch Richard you realize that he spends a lot more time thinking that he does pounding, and at the end of the project the result of his thoughtful and detail oriented approach comes through in the quality of his work.
Description of Work: Richard replaced an exterior rear door and steps from the door to a patio, and installed a new storm door.

He was thoughtful, prepared a detailed contract which was accurate, and made good suggestions as we went along; and he was very tidy (he built dust walls to contain the dust and covered floors with paper, osb, or plastic to protect them). Work started when promised and Richard stayed at it till the job was done, working 6 days per week for almost a month. Richard worked around supplier limitations (the replacement window, which we ordered, was slow to arrive), and completed the work before we left on vacation. When he left, the areas where work was performed were clean and all trash was removed. One couldn't ask for a better remodeling experience, and the workmanship was excellent. Richard would be our first choice for additional projects. The price was also very reasonable for the work done.
Description of Work: Richard added a floor where there previously was a two story study. This involved floor framing and finishing, drywalling the ceiling below, moving a window and associated framing and exterior siding. He also replaced an interior window/door with a continuous header, making it an open space adjacent to the kitchen. This also involved removing some ceramic tile and replacing and grouting with new tile to match existing floor (we had extra tiles). He also painted walls in this area and the upper area which extended into the master bedroom. Bathrooms were also painted. Limited rewiring of the area and installing track lighting in the ceiling was also required. All services were done professionally, as specified, and with high quality. The finished product looked like it had originally been built that way.

Description of Work: I used Richard Droman Carpentry. He rebuilt the facing on my garage and put new boards on and paints them so it looks like new. Just the edges were deteriorated so he took 1x8s down the sides and put the molding on the outside.

He did spend a great deal of time with me on the phone offering suggestions with concerns I had. It was most appreciated. In September I called him again for another project. Again, he was too busy but did spend time with me offering suggestions. I appreciate that he told me he didn't have the time to help me. I appreciate that he was able to take time to offer suggestions that happened to work for me.

+ 0 moreRichard's work was excellent. I highly doubt we could have found somebody else who would have taken the effort to perform such quality work. He explained our options, including replacing the entire door area. He even made some phone calls to get estimates. Seeing that we were hesitant to incur that expense, he moved forward with the repair. He was very thorough in every aspect of the job. The damage to the door area was more severe than he expected when he came out to give us the estimate. He made some reasonable adjustments to the bid for the additional work. He made improvements to the door area to offer more protection against the weather elements. The entire door area looks phenomenal now - it looks like a new door area - maybe better. Richard was very easy to work with and the area was spotless each day before he left. He took no shortcuts and took the time to explain what he was doing and how to best maintain the door area. He also wants to see how the area holds up over time since the damage was pretty extensive. He did everything in his power to save our door area and we are grateful for all his hard work. I highly recommend Richard Droman Carpentry and will definitely contact Richard again for any of our future carpentry needs.
Description of Work: Richard Droman Carpentry repaired a rear door with sidelights and transoms. The molding had rotted in several places and even the door itself had some rot. He replaced brickmold with PVC brickmold and mull covers with cedar. He also spliced in jambs with cedar approx. 8 inches. He improved the drip cap and the J-channel at the sill. He caulked and painted the trim and door panels and replaced all weather stripping.

+ 6 moreAll in all, he was very flexible to accommodate my needs. The results were fabulous! It looks like I spent a lot more money than I did. I appreciate his help in making a dysfunctional bathroom beautiful! I think he is not afraid to take on a challenge and has creative solutions to to meet the job at hand. I wish I had hired him sooner.
Description of Work: I had a bathroom with a poorly constructed custom cabinent that I wanted to improve the appearance and functionality. I will be selling my house so I asked for suggestions to improve the look of the bath without spending a fortune. The tile in the shower also needed repairs as did the toilet. Richard put out several ideas (he gave me detailed estimates as we progressed) and we settled on a plan. He put in nice inset lighting to replace an outdated florescent light, dry walled to fit a new medicine cabinet, reset my toilet, fixed the badly set tile in the shower, put in a new floor and as a freebe reworked the switches because they were not properly done by the previous owner. He also ordered new fronts for the cabinents and built a new storage area to add to the existing storage. He made suggestions for my part (painting and walls) to improve my chances for success.

I'm very pleased with the professional way he handles himself and with his friendly nature and consideration for the area he's working in. The job went well and the results were excellent including a new bath fan than I can barely hear when it runs. He always checks out the high and low options and keeps you up to date on what's available. I'm sure he'll be back here for future projects as my budget allows. I first chose Richard from Angie's List from evaluations and because he's a local contractor - very good choice!
Description of Work: Richard removed a window in my kitchen, which had been previously sided over, and replaced it with drywall; he did a great job of matching the rough finish. He also made repairs to another plaster area in my kitchen. He replaced a bad bathroom fan and added proper ventilation to the existing roof vent. He worked back and forth simultaneously for a couple days taking his time to get the job done right. I've used Richard on another occassion and came back to him again because of the quality of his work. He not only meets the customer's standards, but has very high standards of his own. I threw in replacing a leaking kitchen faucet at the last minute and he handled that with no problem also. I highly recommend Droman's Carpentry. If you have something that needs done, he's the guy to figure it out for you and get it done right.
