Whempy's

They came on time. Only one man did most of the work. He went very quickly and I only saw him putting the big hose into the furnace. I asked about if and when he had blown each vent . The answer was yes. I have 3 floors and they were done in 45 -60 minutes.. I was told that there was lots of dry wall in the duct. This is my first experience with duct cleaning.

We’ve been living here for about 20 years. They’ve done a lot of work for us over the years. They always do a very good job and always seem to be quite reasonably priced. They are always prompt and on time. They have been in business for a long time. They are very pleasant and seem to really know what they are doing. They came highly recommended by Angie’s List.

They do it very well. They are through and clean. They don't get it all over the house. They do a very good job. We can get info inbtween times. They have also done some chinmeny repair. We have been very happy.

They came very fast. They were on time. They were one of few companies that will clean oil service chimneys. There was no mess left after they were finished. There is no terrible black mess all over my floors.

They did a great job. When he opened it up, he covered the entire area and got in there with a flashlight and vacuum cleaner. No ash or dust got out into the family room where the fireplace was. Not only did he do an excellent job of cleaning up, but he also did a great job of containing the mess to assure there was nothing to clean up. Both of them were very polite, and their prices were reasonable. I was happy with their work and will definitely consider using them again.

Very well. We had been told by another company that we needed a new chimney liner. Friends had told us that Whempys had quoted them a good price on their chimney repairs, so we gave them a call. Whempys scheduled us within 2 days. The gentleman did a thorough examination of our chimney, showing us where we needed work. He explained all issues in detail and gave us good information on what was needed. Whempys e-mailed the estimate that day. Subsequently we did receive lower bids and selected another company for the repairs and chimney sweep.

There was no crack in the chimney and they were very honest with that. They fixed the crown on the chimney and did a good job.

They are honest and courteous. We had them come out and check three chimneys and it turns out we only needed to have two of them cleaned. They kept us informed of what they were doing as they worked. We will continue to use them.

Referred by an established and reliable HVAC company, Whempy's came out within 2 business days to evaluate the damage. Upon receiving the OK from the insurance company, they came the second day to make the necessary repairs/replacement. They arrived about 8:30 (on schedule) and completed the project by 4:00. Everything was cleaned up at the end of the job. Additionally, they were courteous and friendly. This may have been mis-categorized because I was unable to locate a "chimney repair" listing. So I used the next best category "Heating and A/C" instead.

Everything has been fine. They did their job and they were professional. They were pretty much on the mark, and I got what I paid for. Their prices were in line with what I expected.

Overall this was a positive experience. I would love to go into more detail, but I was not here during the actual service call.

They came very quickly and were very punctual. Whempy's charge was very reasonable and they explained to me what the problem was. He removed some of the ceramic gas logs and he put them back. Now my house is nice and toasty warm.

They were prompt in responding, and sent someone out. When he got here, he examined everything and reduced the rate b/c the chimney wasn't really that dirty. We appreciated the honesty!

I called to get an estimate and was told that the caps are all the same cost if they aren't special order. So they sent someone to check what size caps they needed and were supposed to leave me something in the door, which they did not. So I didn't know they came and called in, and was told that they had come and what the price would be to do it. I said that that was fine and asked when they would be able to do it. They said probably in a few days, and that they would call me before they came so I would know. A week after that, I had not heard from them and called to ask if they were going to come. Apparently they had already come, and said that they left the invoice, but I never saw one, nor did they call me. So they had to email me the invoice. I wonder if they would have finally called me if I had not called, only because they hadn't been paid. The caps look fine and I assume they are OK, but I was disappointed that they didn't contact me at all and I always had to call them.

Just as expected. Came in, did the work and cleaned up.

He cleaned up well. I appreciated the fact that he covered up the new marble that was around the fireplace. I did gather several other estimates and this company was able to get me on the schedule quickly and their price seemed reasonable.

This work was done in the spring of 2004. In the spring I had a terrible smell coming from my fireplace which had been closed up all winter. A couple of times earlier in the season I thought I heard movement inside the chimney. I thought it might be a bird which then flew out. I called Whempy's and discussed the situation. They inspected the chimney and said that it appeared that a mother raccoon was preparing to have babies in the chimney. It was currently empty. The foul smell was from the racoon's urine. The man who was sent out cleaned out the chimney both from below and above. Then he placed a cap on chimney to prevent further invasion by animals. He was also helpful showing me how to start and use the gas starter. He explained how a gas log insert could be installed. He also gave pointers about using fireproof caulk around the outside of the base near the wood floor to prevent embers from falling in the crack. I have not used their service since as I have not used the fireplace to burn wood.

Based on an over-zealous home inspector's report, we were required to provide a chimney inspection for the perspective buyer of our home. The inspector recommended a "category 3" inspection as well as a flu pin. I called Whempy's and explained the situation. They stated that because the chimney was fabricated metal flu a "category 3" inspection was not necessary and over the top. The cost of a category 3 inspection would be $300.00 while the normal inspection would be $85.00. They came out quickly to do the less expensive inspection, wrote on the inspection form that a category 3 inspection was not necessary for a fabricated chimney and that our chimney was "like new." They also provided and installed the pin free -- not a huge expense, but still very appreciated by this stressed out home seller.
