Whempy's

The whole process was great! When I called they had a great price (and coupons from Angie's List) and they were able to come out within a couple days. When the guy arrived, he was very friendly and honest. When we had our chimney inspected, if it was dirty, we were also going to have it cleaned (another $60+), but they guy told us the chimney was in perfect condition and that we didn't need to waste out money. I really appreciated his honesty. Next he installed two chimney caps and was very quick. I had made a mistake and told them we only needed two caps, but we actually needed a third. When I called Whempy's the next day to schedule another appointment, they had someone out to my house that very same day. Very prompt and friendly staff. The only part that was a little bad, was that they didn't knock on my door to let me know there were here. Only after i heard their ladders on my house did I know the service was being done. It wasn't that big of a deal for me though. Great service and will use them again anytime I need work on my chimney!

Technician was great - very helpful, and honest. We asked him to come to our home to clean two chimneys, and he told us the second one did not need it after inspection. We wouldn't have known any better, so we really appreciated his honesty and getting to keep the extra money.

Service took 10 minutes at the most, and included sticking a chimney bristle cleaning head up through my fireplace and used several extenders to reach to the top. He never got on the roof, and didn't inspect anything (I know because I completely loosened the liner clamp to the wood burning stove, and was still loose after he left). Needless to say, I purchased a chimney cleaning bristle head and several extenders for the next time I need it cleaned, and for much less than this service. Also, the guy filled another 30 minutes complaining about negative ratings on Angie's List. 10 minutes for this service should never cost $136.

They were prompt, friendly and professional. Showed me why the damper handle didn't work and advised me on what kind of chain I needed instead. Would definitely use them again.

Whempy's assessed the repair needs of the chimney in our 125 year old home. They identified the weaknesses and based on our use patterns, provided a prioritized list of repairs they recommended. We opted to complete the highest priority repairs, which included some firebox tuck pointing and a damper installation. Mark came out to our house for both the estimate and the repair work. He explained the situation and our options simply and clearly. He was prompt, effective, and did not make a mess. There were no surprises. What he recommended and what we agreed to is what we got. Overall, Whempy's is an excellent organization. They will be our go-to chimney service company for the foreseeable future. I highly recommend them.

It was a pleasant surprise to do business with a company that didn't just do what was asked in order to make a buck. I would recommend any company that operates like Whempy's.

The crew were prompt and professional and completed the work within the time frame, despite the very hot temperatures that day. Whempy's promptly sent an estimate after the chimney was inspected. My husband climbed on the roof with the inspector and the inspector explained the problems with the chimney and the needed repairs. The cost of the inspection was deducted from the cost of the repairs, as promised. The service was scheduled within a week of the receipt of our deposit, although I had to call to verify that Whempy's received the deposit.

Excellent. We chose this company for a second opinion after using another one for several years which seemed to always be finding additional services we should buy. This current company confirmed that we needed only the basic cleaning and we will use them every year from now on.

When I found Whempy's on Angie's list, I emailed them on a Saturday morning to request more information. Their responsiveness was very impressive! I was contacted by phone within 2 hours! I scheduled an appointment for the following Saturday. On the day of my appointment, they were very prompt and courteous. James inspected my chimney and informed me that the chimney was actually pretty clean and gave me the option of not having the cleaning performed. I found his honesty and fairness very refreshing. Because I burn fires frequently all throughout the winter, I decided to proceed with the cleaning. The sweep did a great job and offered me good tips on the proper way to open and close the flue as well as ways to deal with fireplace odor. I was very pleased with their service from initial contact through the actual service call. I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to my friends.

He arrive two hours early! It worked out fine but he could have called ahead.

Overall a good experience! I was able to call and schedule an appointment without waiting for someone to call me back. (I called two different companies and the other never did call back). I had a repair estimate for $750 for another company after they cleaned my chimney. Jack came out and inspected the inside and outside, and assured me that I didn't need the services that were recommended by the other company. He had me look inside the chimney and explained that all I needed was to use ACS, and what to look for with respect to creosote build-up that would be considered dangerous. The other company also recommended some repair work, and he could not find evidence of any such problems. I will definitely use Whempy's in the future!

Never having a chimney cleaned before, seemed like it was fine. They answered our call promptly, were out to our home in several days, and cleaned the chimney as requested. The tech that came out was fine, though he did wear his somewhat dirty shoes into our home.

I was very impressed and will use this company again when the fireplace does need to be cleaned.

They were very professional. We originally had the first visit scheduled when it was really snowy out and we hadn't cleared our driveway. Their driver called me and said that they couldn't get here. After that they were maybe a little too persistent and kept calling me back to see if they could schedule. That was the only thing that was annoying. But it did help remind me that we needed to do it and we probably should not have used the fireplace after that. Once he got here, he was good about laying paper down and being careful about it. He seemed knowledgeable about this kind of fireplace. We haven't used the fireplace since then, but I am assuming that it is fine. The price may have been a little high, but I didn't get other quotes so I don't know what the going rate is. I don't know how the quality of work is as we have not used it yet. His responsiveness was very good.

The work cost me $120. The person, who came out, cleaned the chimneys and cleaned up after himself. I didn’t check around for the price, but he was fair. He was on time. I will use him again in the future.

I think they did the right amount of work and know how to fix things. They do good quality work and are reasonable. All of their technicians are employees that have been there for a long time. Most of the time the technicians have been with the company for 10+ years.

He took a brush and shoved it up one time and brought it back down and said it was good. I was somehwat disappointed because I had heard birds the pervious spring in our fireplace. I was concerned of a bird's nest being at the top and not allowing for proper airflow. He just took a light and looked up there and said there wasn't one. I believe there is a bird's nest up there, I would be shocked if there wasn't. Now I hear another bird up there so we have to have another person come look at it before we can use our fireplace. I don't know that he actually went outside and visually inspected our chimney cap either. I would think twice before using them again.
