Whempy's

The initial phone call was fine. Called on a wednesday and was able to set up an appt for the following saturday morning between 9a and 12p. Thrilled that they have saturday hours; not so thrilled to have to sit around the house for a three hour window but thats just the way it goes, so no big deal. Come saturday morning, I called around 11:30a because I had not received a call or any clue that someone might be coming soon. The lady that answered was nice but said we were not keyed into the system. didn't necessarily mean that her "guys" didn't have our work invoice but she didn't know. Kept saying she'd be happy to reschedule us but that was not what I needed to do. I just wanted to find out if someone was still coming and should I still wait around the house. It's now been an hour since I called and still haven't heard back either way. Very unprofessional way to handle the situation and we will not be using this company, even if they show up now. Highly disappointed considering the great reviews for the actual work.

. They were neat. They did not make a mess. They cleaned up real good. I felt confident that my chimney was clean. I will use them in the future.

I handled everything via email-- very responsive especially compared to other companies we tried. The only concern I have is no reciept for the work done. My credit card was charged 1/2 before the work which was pre-approved. The only way we knew they were here was the grass was trampled ( which only lasted for a bit). I only have the one suggestion-- that we know what day they are coming and that they leave a reciept after they complete the work. Thank you.

Overall, they did a good job. They were prompt and got the job done in a timely manner. I would use them again in the future.

Overall it was a good experience. He was very pleased with the work. My son had never thought to have the fireplace cleaned, and finally realized he needed to. This company also took him through how to use the fireplace, since it is a gas fireplace, which the company did a wonderful job of doing, going through each step and how to do it. They did a great job with the chimney sweep and answered all his questions.

I like their punctuality, courtesy and the fact that they have Saturday hours; so they send somebody out on a Saturday. The employees were friendly and professional. They clean up after themselves.

Called them to inspect chimney for cleaning (if necessary) and installation of new gas logs. The fireplace had been used in the past for burning logs. Because it is a rental and I do not live there, they could have told me it needed cleaning and charged me $109.95 for the cleaning, and I would not have known otherwise. I appreciate their honesty. They told me the chimney was clean and did not even charge me an inspection fee. They charged $95.00 for the gas log installation. My tenant says the installer was very pleasant and instructed her on the use of the logs. Thank you Whempys. And, they were always pleasant to talk to on the telephone!

I've used them for years and they are great. They were very thorough and on time and are priced fairly.

Whempys service is fine. They are just way too expensive.

Just an average experience. Nothing really notable one way or another. Just need someone to come out and make sure the fireplace/chimney were up to code and to clean it. Although I would use the company again, I'd also consider having another company come out too, just to see who is better.

Everything went great. I was impressed with there efficiency. There price is very reasonable. They are very honest as well. Another company told me that I need my chimney cleaned but Whempy’s said that I didn’t need it. I would defiantly use them again if I need them.

James came at the proposed time and immediately went to work and was very careful about not letting my cats out which was very important to me. When inspecting the chiimney he found that I indeed had a damper which was inside but had ben pused back on some kind of shelf. I had been told by a home inspector several years ago that there was no damper. James reinstalled the damper and explained how to use. He also did a really good job of cleanin the chimney. I was IMPRESSED! As a Realtor I have recommended Whempy's for years and I am glad to see their quality of service has not changed and deserves my recommendation to others.

Came out cleaned the ducts and even helped set the registers correctly.

He cleaned out the chimney and pushed the gas logs back so there would be no odor coming from the gas pipe. The price was reasonable and he is very honest. He did an excellent job.

They were good. They did a good job. I was happy with them. It was going to be $105, but when he came it turned out to be less work so he charged me $79 or $89. I was happy with that.

I called for service because my fireplace is very cold when not in use and suspected the damper was not working correctly. They asked if I needed it cleaned, I said I did not know. James arrived early. He inspected the damper and found nothing wrong. He explained that fireplaces on external walls call get very cold. There was no work to be done. He cleaned the chimney and fireplace. He said afterwards that the chimney looked pretty clean. Only the fire box itself really needed cleaned. He was only here about 20 minutes. Seems like a lot of money for only 20 minutes of work, but he charged what was quoted.

Did a very nice job - I will use them again.

Went well, sweep called prior to arrival, completed inspection and cleaning. Suggestion to Whempys - supply chiimney sweeps with "booties" for covering shoes, especially during inclement weather; I asked the sweep to remove his shoes and he did without complaint. Also asked that he note on invoice that chimney cap was moving around during high winds (previously installed by Whempys) so that a request to return and tighten would be noted. Weather on day of cleaning was bad, windy, snowy and cloudy, but sweep arrived on time (actually a bit early).

They gave my son, who was there, some clues as to how to do a hot fire in the spring and fall. They gave us good information about how to have a good fire and how to keep it from building up with creosote. They told us that it was important to warm up the chimney ahead of time, ie. start a fire before it gets too cold for the first time.

They were responsive and coureous. They fixed our problem with no muss or fuss to us. We were not at home when they attached the chimney collar. They did a good job.

Jim arrived in the appointed time bucket. Went to cleaning the chimney. Took some pictures with his cell phone (seemed odd), and left. No known outside inspection done. No discussion of what he did or didn't do. I may call them again but will request a different tech.

I emailed to setup the appointment. They were able to accommodate my need to leave for work at 1 pm. James arrived performed the work quickly and cleanly. He also gave some tips since this my first winter with wood stove in the new house.

The technician came, inspected inside both wood-burning fireplaces and said they would not need to be cleaned and had no chimney issues. He went on the roof to check on a cap, and found small issues and offered possible solutions with no pushiness at all. He was very clean and polite, worked quickly and was pleasant. He offered if I would like, to have information on chimney caps sent to me and I said yes.He informed me about how to work the flue and the location of clean-outs, and that one fireplace could be used immediately. He was very nice and helpful.
