Excellent. Jim is always courteous, responsive, and puts his clients first. Truly a very knowledgeable realtor who can give technical insights on things he sees in home walk-through's. He spent many evenings with me running around Columbus looking for my new property over the course of 3 months. It was rather exhaustive in the sellers market that was prevalent this summer, but Jim always kept positive that we were going to find me the perfect spot. And we did.

We enjoyed working with Jim Deskins for the purchase of our condo. It is our 4th home and we just closed in September. It took us quite some time, nearly a full year and over two dozen properties, to find the one just right for us, and Jim was very patient the whole way. Jim lets the client make the decision; all he does is point out plusses and minuses of each property based on what you’ve told him is important to you. We always felt confident that Jim would be the experienced extra set of eyes for us. He is very good picking up on signs that point to potential problems with roofs, basements, windows etc. We especially liked the fact he is a Buyer’s Agent, does not sell properties himself, and so is entirely focused on the buyer’s needs. We were very pleased with his work and highly recommend him.

It was a long gruesome process navigating the competitive Columbus market but Jim stayed with us relentlessly through our 8 month search for the perfect first home. We looked at 80+ homes together. I have used Jim Deskins of Home Buyer's Advocates for the purchase of three homes now. I do so because I trust Jim to represent my best interest, even over his own. When I walk into a house that is on the market I trust Jim will give it a thorough look through and advise me of everything that might be wrong with it so that I can make an educated decision and not one that is based on feelings. Jim is both patient and professional from beginning to the very end of the home buying process.

Jim helped us to buy our first home. He was with us every step of the way and made it so effortless. I think he went above and beyond a normal agent, showing us dozens and dozens of houses throughout the winter. He has vast knowledge of the Columbus area and is also very "hands on" when viewing homes; not just pointing out the superficial cosmetics that many agents like to do. He truly works for the buyer and we couldn't have been happier with him.

This was the second time using Jim's help to find a home. He's tremendous. Knows a lot about how a house works, and things to pay attention to while viewing. He'll scuttle into crawl spaces and note the age of hot water heaters, furnaces, etc. No pressure ever -- he wants you to find YOUR home. I'm picky with contractors, and have been disappointed many times. Not with Jim. I'd choose him again in a heartbeat.

Jim Deskins gave us prompt updates to houses on the market. He did not push homes at the top or above our budget. He was very thorough with home walk-throughs, and was knowledgeable about which homes had good foundations and what kind of work would need to be done. I recommend him to anyone in the market for a home, and as a bonus you'll get an easy-going yet dry sense of humor.

Jim is amazing and I would recommend him to anyone interested in buying a home. First, because he only works for buyers we knew that there was no chance his view of the homes we were looking at would be skewed (intentionally or unintentionally) towards picking any particular selling agency. Second, Jim was able to work with our limited schedule and was always available by text, phone, or email. Both my fiance and I work fairly busy schedules during the week. Our showing times were limited to nights and weekends and despite that small window, we still looked at a ton of houses. We would be able to use the website provided by Jim to narrow our search and inform him what houses we wanted to see. Within a day or two we would be at the showing. Within the first week we saw ten houses. Our search was even conducted over the holidays and Jim still made himself available. Third, Jim was extremely knowledgeable and prepared whenever we had questions or simply while walking us through the house. He is a verifiable dictionary of the things you would want to know about as a home buyer. He would notice things in the house that we would never have looked for, was able to answer questions, dispel concerns, and navigate us through the parts of the process with which we were unfamiliar. Anytime that he did not have an answer off the top of his head he followed up with us with an answer extremely quickly. Fourth, Jim was pleasant to work with from start to finish. He is friendly and personable, while still being no nonsense when it comes to issues with the house. When we liked a house he would make sure that we were aware of potential problems while making our assessment. He helped us keep the focus on the big picture while sometimes swooning over small details in a house. He also advised us when we made all big decisions on which houses to pursue and which houses to ignore. His demeanor allowed him to caution and advise us without ever seeming to push us towards a particular decision. While he was ever present in the process, all the decisions were truly ours, only more informed than they would have been without him. Even after the purchase was complete Jim went above and beyond with his thank you to us and the personal touch he put in his move in package. The process of buying a home, a huge purchase and life decision, can be overwhelming and stressful. With Jim, we felt more at ease while navigating through unfamiliar waters. TLDR: Hire Jim Deskins.

I did some research online and found Jim Deskins/The Homebuyers Advocate at some point. I was impressed with the reviews of Jim, so I went on to read his website and blog. I had a feeling he was exactly who we were looking for and I was right! Jim is very professional, yet down-to-earth enough to create a more personal business relationship. He has years of experience and is very smart about home buying. That was evident when we had lots of questions while looking at potential homes and during our purchase process. Jim was in touch with us often, available to answer our questions - and did so patiently without trying to hurry through anything. He helped steer us in the right direction many times. It was very important for us to feel 'right' and 'comfortable' when it came time to make our purchase and Jim helped make that happen. We had a negative experience with what I would consider an unprofessional realtor selling the house we bought, but Jim was able to handle the situation with grace and that helped me not get so riled up (as I tend to do when someone isn't meeting expectations)! We have been in our home for almost 90 days now. As Thanksgiving passed, I had fleeting thoughts of how thankful we are to have worked with Jim, and to have had such a pleasant home buying experience. We are appreciative of everything Jim did for us and could not have asked for a better advocate! Thank you Jim!!

James Deskins and I worked together from November of 2015 until the closing on August 31 of 2016. Worked together is the key word in my opening sentence as I have found the majority of realtors are just glorified open house guides. I didn't want someone like that. I was after someone who knew the history of the neighborhoods I was interested in and had knowledge of how the homes were constructed and had knowledge of county codes. Jim met all of my requirements. Jim provides an easy going personality who has years of experience to back up his abilities. Go for Jim in my opinion. Geoff
