The Davey Tree Expert Company- Columbus & W Columbus

We've used Davey for many years. Each year the service has gotten worse. On three occasions they have shown up weeks early and unannounced causing great disruptions to our home schedule. When they removed two trees, they tore up flower beds and left the yard a mess. Regarding our magnolia tree scale, they repeatedly prescribed treatments that were contrary to what the extension service recommends. We're through with Davey.

Excellent response, excellent timing response, removed the tree and then all the left over branches and sticks.

Overall was a pleasant experience, the company came out when they were scheduled and left us a invoice each time. The day they pruned the flowering pear, they gently removed a nest with 3 baby blue jays in it while they were trimming and put the nest back when they were done (although after they left, we had a big storm that blew the nest down, not their fault). They were professional and cleaned up quickly. During the storm after they pruned, our neighbors lost both of their flowering pear trees from cracking, but our tree stayed safe because of their expert trimming.

Very happy, the trees look good, the last few storms I have not lost any branches and only a few leaves. I liked the educational materials they left with estimate.

I have used this company for several years to trim trees on the property, and will continue to use them.

They were prompt and businesslike. They did extensive preliminary work to advise about options, mapped work to be done, and consulted about the health of trees. The estimate seemed quite fair for the extent of work. They were prompt to arrive on the scheduled work day. The crew walked through the entire project before starting work. The results were even better than expected.

They are very good. We have used them for years.

Last summer I had the fertilization and injection. I also scheduled a spray for my weeping cherry. The spray must be done in April for it to be effective against borers. The spray was not done. I called the company and my phone call was not returned. On the second call Scott Lind-Smith said we will get to it next year. He did not offer anything to help me now. I realize that a spray would be wasted at this point, but I still expected to be reimbursed in some manner and was not. I spent over $600 with this company last year and now my tree has to suffer for their mistake. I found Scott Lind-Smith very unfriendly and uncaring.

They are very professional. They are not inexpensive but they do a really good job. The only negative I have is that someone had to be home for them to come out & get the scope of work so they could give us an estimate. My husband & I both work so that wasn't very convenient but other than that everything was great. They did what they said they would do & were careful not to damage the other landscape that is around. We did not need to be home when they did the work.

The estimate was done quickly. The job was completed in a timely manner, after the work order was signed and returned to Davey. The work was completed as specified in the quote and the cost was also correct.

This company did an excellent job of extensively trimming 3 large trees in my backyard. They were very neat & cleaned up all the debris on the ground afterwards, so there were no little sticks left lying around.

Very professional. Matched work very well to quoted project. Quick response after work contacted. Excellent clean up of area. No small branches or sticks left even after chipping.

We thought they were very good. They cleaned up and we were pleased.

Bill White was knowledgeable and helpful. We had a relatively unsafe large tree overhanging our neighbor's house. The problem was that access was very limited. Davey had to actually use our neighbor's driveway, cut down one of their 30 foot tree, and temporarily relocate a 6 foot white pine to get the trucks in our back yard. They protected the driveway from the truck weight by putting down plywood along the way. The only problem was that there was a miscommunication that we wanted about 5 feet of the stump left, and they cut it nearly to the ground. I was pretty clear that Bill knew what I wanted, but I didn't notice that the wording he actually wrote up wasn't as specific, and the workers cut it way too low. Now I'm probably going to have to pay for the stump removal at some point. Otherwise, very professional service.

They were on time and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time. Cleaned up well. A stairway handrail was damaged by a falling limb and they had someone out the same day to make the repair. Very good customer service all around.

Quick response, fair price, professional, good cleanup. Davey had the second lowest price of the four companies I contacted for quotes, but the lowest-cost company - could or would not provide proof of liability & worker's comp insurance which is critical for high work around utility wires. The other company wanted $40 for a quote, but Davey, and the others, provided free quotes.

DAVEY'S CREW DID ALL THE WORK, AS PROMISED, INCLUDING CLEAN UP.

Very happy with Davey tree service. We received estimates from approximately 10 other companies, and Davey came in the lowest, and was the most recommended by other people. Were courteous and on time. Really worked with our budget. They quickly sized up the job, which was a tough one since the trees were large and the wood had to be hauled up a hill. After they were done, it didn't even look like they were there...very good clean up. Would definitely use them again for any tree removal, and would recommend them highly.

This company was slow on returning phone calls on more than one occasion. Also they were $320 MORE than another Angie's List company (with comparable number of reports)! Also, they couldn't get to the work for at least 5 weeks (other company estimated 3 1/2 weeks and completed work in 2 1/2 weeks).

THEY CAME OUT AND WERE PROMPT. THEY WERE VERY NICE. THEIR PRICE QUOTE WAS REALLY HIGH.

SCOTT WAS OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY WITH A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. HE PROMPTLY RETURNED MY FOLLOW-UP CALLS AND ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING WORK WITH DAVEY.

APPRECIATED THEIR ADVICE, THOUGH IT WASN'T WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR (THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED).

PROMPTLY CAME OUT, AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE. I RETURNED A SIGNED CONTRACT TO THEM FOR THE WORK, BUT THE WORK WAS NEVER PERFORMED. I CALLED DAVEY SEVERAL TIMES, AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD GET TO IT WHEN THEY WERE "IN MY AREA".

VERY RELIABLE AND DID A GREAT JOB. VERY PROFESSIONAL.

I WAS SATISFIED WITH THE JOB, BUT I FELT THAT I HAD TO STAND OUT THERE AND SUPERVISE. THE PERSON THAT I SPOKE WITH OVER THE PHONE SOUNDED VERY ABLE, BUT THE CREW THAT WAS SENT OUT DID NOT SEEM AS EXPERIENCED. THERE WAS SOME THINGS THAT I DID NOT LIKE, AND WERE NOT COMPLETED TO MY SATISFACTION. I HAD TO MAKE SURE THEY DID THE JOB CORRECTLY. I WOULD HAVE TO THINK AGAIN BEFORE I USED THEM.
