The Davey Tree Expert Company- Columbus & W Columbus

Contacted Davey Tree & Lawn Care, upon reading submitted reports on Angie's List, to trim 4 large Oak, a maple and 4 ornamental trees on our property. The company responded with in 3 days to survey the trees and left an estimate. We contacted the company with questions regarding the estimate and upon our questions being answered set a date for the service. The tree service was performed as contracted and Davey did an outstanding job cleaning up the property. We were invoiced after the service had been completed and paid in full completely satisfied.

I had to call them back and move things back into place in the yard.

Work was performed in a very satisfactory manner. However, the company provided information on Angie's List states that there is a 10% senior citizen discount. The company refused to honor this discount. When I called the accounting department to ask about deducting the discount on the invoice, I was referred to the estimator named Bill, who denied that Davey gives the senior citizen discount.

I had called them and they placed me over to a voice mail so I could get a quote. I never got a response.

We are very pleased with Davey tree & lawn care. Bill White gave us an initial estimate of work that needs to be done and was very professional and thorough. The work was done in a timely manner and our trees look better than ever. At a later time we called Bill about a branch that was dead, and he stopped by to trim it for us without charging us extra. We are very happy with this company and highly recommend them to our friends and family.

The company representative, Don Wills, gave me an quote within a couple of days of my call and scheduled the removal for the following week. The crew that cut down the tree were very professional and careful not to damage the house or the lawn under the tree. They chipped the branches, stacked the fire wood around the trunk and raked the yard to remove the leaves and chips. A week later a different crew (a sub-contractor) removed the stump and did a very thorough job. About ten days later, a Davey crew returned to remove the stump chips, put top-soil into the hole and plant grass. The treated top-soil and fertilizer allowed the grass seed to germinate quickly and produce a thick stand of grass.

The job went well. We had a misunderstanding about how deep the stumps would be ground down as we wanted to plant new bushes over the space. When we contacted the company they were very prompt in having someone come back out and remove the stumps to a deeper level.

They do good work. They were on time, price was reasonable. Do not remember job cost.

Don Wells came out right on time, as promised, to give me an estimate. He said it would be done within the next week. The following Wednesday, I came home from work and found their receipt in the front door. They did such an excellent job of both trimming and clean up, that I didn't even notice the job was done until after I saw the receipt. This was the best job of trimming and by far the best job of clean up I've ever had. Well done!

Called Davey for an estimate. They arrived promptly, reviewed the project in detail, and promptly came out to perform the work. They were both prompt, professional, and I would use their services again.

Responsive in coming out for estimate. Did a good job trimming and cleaned up well. May have been a bit expensive, but I wanted the expertise of an arborist which they have.

I expected someone to call to schedule the actual service. Instead, I came home one day to find that the work had been completed. I large limb was left hanging from the roof but otherwise, the service we completed as expected. Overall, I am pleased with the results and the service provided.

Davey had by far the best quote. Other estimates were >2 times as much. They cleaned up after themselves really well. We had two small issues. First was a day on which they were going to do the work, we came home to find the work was not done. It turns out the weather was too bad to work, but we only found this out after calling them. Second, we had asked that they not trim back a particular portion of one limb quite so far in order to maintain shade over our deck. That limb ended up being cut back much farther then we had expected.

The problem is that the company billed my credit card twice. I noticed this when I checked my statement prior to making a payment. I notified Davey Tree and my credit card company Citibank. Eventually Citibank researched the double billing and credited my account. Almost 6 months later Davey Tree insisted that I owed them for the limb removal. They had also attempted to remove one of the double billings from my Citibank account. Davey had failed to follow the MasterCard contract regarding charge backs and as a result my account was never credited for this second attempt. The accounts receivable people for Davey Tree would not help me nor did they care that the problem was traceable to their inability to follow the MasterCard contracted rules. I eventually got Citibank to feel sorry for me and issue me a credit. This was a royal pain in the *explicit* and it was all Davey Tree's fault. Consider yourself warned.

Excellent service! The estimate was in our mailbox within a couple days. It was detailed and clearly marked. The trees were trimmed while we were at work, we sent a check and it was done! Very easy and very professional.

I was present for the evaluation and quote-about 15 minutes. The work occurred when I was not at home. The clean-up was complete. The trees look great.

Excellent job. I called Daveys to obtain an estimate for pruning. The office assistant I spoke to was very courteous and pleasant;she scheduled the date for estimate to be done & it was completed when promised. Kevin Shilling provided the estimate and was very responsive to my phone calls. Kevin scheduled a set day for the pruning per my request. Davey Tree was highly recommended by a co-worker so I was not home when the work was performed. The trimmers did a fantastic job, as I expected they would. I would not hesitate to recommend Davey Tree to others; in fact, I am considering them for some landscaping work next spring.

The estimate was free, which I appreciated. I also appreciated the straight talk the guy offered: He could treat the trees, and it might or might not protect them from the borers (effectiveness is not certain). Furthermore, even if I treat the trees, if they are later determined to be in an infected area, they will by law have to be cut down regardless. In other words, if I have reason to believe they need protection, I might as well not bother. When he made overall recommendations, he pointed out a lot of dead wood near the tops of the trees. That was OK, but I thought he was a little over the top in describing the dangers of kids playing in the sandbox near there, legal liability, etc. The estimate for a fix ran near $1000. And when I asked how much it would be just to trim the suckers off the tree trunks, he mostly talked about how it'd be more money overall to do the whole job in pieces than just to do it all at once now. We ultimately just had our yard service trim the suckers.

It was much easier than trying to find someone else with equal tree expertise.

We've been happy with the improvement in our lawn. The one time we had dead patches next to the driveway, they sent a supervisor out the same day to inspect the problem. With each visit they give us a check-list assessment of the lawn's condition along with any notes on how to improve it.

Very well. Kevin took the time to speak with the neighbor and work with him regarding placement of one of the trucks on his driveway. Crew came in and did their job in a fast, efficient, and safe manner. Went faster than anticipated.

They had punctual service. They cleaned up all debris and stacked wood.

We were surprised at how reasonable the cost was. They did the tree removal one day and came back in a few days to remove the stumps.

He's really nice. He cut off the limb and took care of the worms. He's coming out again for fall treatment.

They came out quickly to do the estimate and then came back to do the work earlier than expected. Did a great job.
