Sean Sponhaltz (sales associate) made estimate, we contracted and their team under direction of George completed all work in an expert and timely fashion. Excellent job.

They are very professional, and use good products.

It has never been resolved. They are avoiding addressing the issue. They have a claims department that investigates things and this happened seven weeks ago.

I've used them for more than 10 years.

I liked the service that they provided. They are good and the people they send are very good.

Work overall was excellent. The crew members were courteous, efficient and cleared all debris satisfactorily. We have extensive landscape plantings and were gratified that the crew managed to accomplish so much work with so little damage to existing plants. This was a professionally done job in every way. We have used this company for tree pruning and fertilization since 1994.

They do call us ahead because we have locked gates with a dog, and they have been good at that. We would recommend them to others. We would use them again in the future.

Got three bids, Davey's responded first, with a bid below the others. Sean, who did the estimate, was very knowledgeable and had a number of suggestions for getting the best out of their service. The mulberry was located within five feet of a bird house of wrens that had just hatched. They worked carefully around the bird house. When they were done they were very thorough in cleaning the yard. But for the inevitable sawdust I think they left the yard cleaner than they found it. Hopefully there will be no more need for tree removals, but I will use Davey again for all my other tree care needs.

These guys really are tree experts. They love what they do and it shows. Sean has been my project manager for both jobs I've hired them for and he's a real pleasure to work with. My emails and phone calls are returned promptly. He finds ways to save me money and delivers beyond my expectations. Last year, I hired them to remove 2 huge ash trees that were killed by the EAB. They worked quickly, cleaned up after themselves, and the finish work was done meticulously. More recently, they mulched my yard, added trees and new plants, and built a new bluestone walkway in the backyard. Sean designed the whole project himself and suggested low-cost plants that would spruce up our curb appeal and help sell our "starter home" next year. Other companies gave me lower bids, but were only able to do so by cutting corners. Davey might be a little more expensive, but it's worth it to work with real pros. I could not be happier with the work and will not hire anyone else for future projects.

I will recommend them to anyone who asks, as they did a fantastic job.

Unless you need a tree cut down on top of your neighbors house - Do not do business with Davey's

The Davey Tree Expert Co I use The Davey Tree Expert Co, on a regular basis, I have a contract with them to do lawn fertilization & treatment and to take care of my trees. They know what they are doing and always do an excellent job.

It was a huge Ash tree that had emerald ash borer. It was huge and it towered over the house and they had to bring a crane in, cut it up, and take it over the house. They did a good job. We will use them again.

They are good, but they are very expensive.

They were great. I would absolutely use them again.

Overall, the job went very well. They called in advance before coming to the property, and they explained what they were going to do. They were very professional. I have not really compared their prices with others. I will use them again in the future.

We thought that they trimmed a little too much off the pine tree. The tree's still alive and healthy, and it is away from the house now, so that's good. And I understand that "too much" is subjective. They did a fantastic job of getting the trash trees out of the fence line. They didn't damage the chain link fence at all. The old trees are completely gone. They cleaned up the pine trimmings and the old trash trees completely. I couldn't even tell they had been there (except for the work being done, of course). The man who came to give the estimate pointed out that it would be less expensive for us to trim the bush ourselves, since the kind of bush it was didn't require any special handling. We didn't know that, and they could easily have charged us to do the work. I really appreciated that kind of openness. So overall, I am pleased with the work they did. I especially appreciated their openness. That kind of service means I'll give them first consideration the next time I have similar work that needs done.

This was the second year I used this company for deep root fertilization. I use another company for my lawn. I didn't realize until I went to write this review that Davey also does lawn service. Looking back, this makes perfect sense. I moved into my house a year ago August and the trees and lawn were not well taken care of. It was recommended by my lawn service that I have my trees deep root fertilized which I did last fall as well. The cost at that time was a little less than the price listed above for this years service. The problem with that is they didn't fertilize as many trees this year as last year. The reason for this is I have some Imprellis damage to some of my spruce trees and I asked them not to fertilize them. I first noticed one of my spruce trees (which the owner of Davey made sure to correct what I was calling them since they look like pine trees to me) was turning brown a few weeks after another company had sprayed my lawn for weeds. I called Davey to have them come and look at them and also contacted my lawn person. The lawn person knew what it was right away and came out that day to verify. The owner of Davey tree also came out a day later and had no trouble bad mouthing my lawn service for using Imprellis, and made sure I knew that their company did not use Imprellis. I found that very unprofessional, but let it go. Dupont has since taken responsibility for Imprellis and this was actually in The Columbus Dispatch. When the employee from Davey tree came out to deep root fertilize my trees this year, I told him not to fertilize the spruce (pine, whatever) trees because Dupont was going to compensate me in some way for them. Truth is, I never really liked those trees anyway, so I am not broken hearted. The Davey employee, when he arrived, asked me if I was sure I was going to be compensated and "that isn't what he heard" and that it was my lawn companies fault for getting so close to the trees with the Imprellis. Actually, it affected some of my neighbors trees, which the lawn company was no where near. I found this very unprofessional and this was the second person in the company who "bad mouthed" my lawn company. When I got the bill I went ahead and paid it, but wasn't happy about it. I won't be using Davey Tree again, not because they did a bad job, but because I don't want to deal with the owner or any of his arrogant employees, or pay for something I didn't have done.

This is the second time we've used Davey Tree and I'll use them again when needed next year for some work in our backyard. They are a little pricier, but not out of line. The quality of work was well worth the slight difference in cost. They're very professional and responsive to questions.

Because of the Emerald Ash Borer infestation, ash trees needed to be removed in a moderately wooded neighborhood. The residents decided to work together to take advantage of economies of scale that would be a win-win for both the individual property owners and the tree service company. Using Angie's List as a basis for due diligence, several companies were evaluated and that information was used in selecting companies to participate. The residents voted for the top three companies to evaluate their properties and have written estimates provided. One of the three selected companies declined because of the size of the job and their work schedule. Two companies provided estimates for the individual property owners. After reviewing their individual estimates, each property owner voted on the company they wished to have perform their work. Davey Tree was the unanimous winner. Davey performed the work flawlessly and at a very fair price.

They explained everything to me beforehand and were very professional. The disposed of all the pieces of the tree. I would definitely call them again and would highly recommend them. They even gave me a senior citizen discount without me having to ask.

I came home today to find that Davey Tree Service had been here. I just started crying when I saw this tree and what they did to it, and have cried everytime I have thought of it since. It makes me sick to my stomach the butcher job they did on it, and what an asymmetrical pieced together mess this is. This tree cannot be replaced, It was a beautiful mature Magnolia that just needed a little TLC. Instead this tree was cut and hacked on, with one entire side gone. Davey Tree service was the most expensive estimate that I had recd but I went with them because they advertise they have arborists on staff. I am not sure who they sent to do this tree - but they obviously did not know what they were doing. I did not see this until Saturday afternoon, and it is Labor Day weekend so I cannot talk to anyone at Davey until Tuesday. I cannot believe how they ruined this tree. There is nothing they can to do to repair the damage that was done. PLEASE - do not believe the advertising. My experience with these "expert arborists" is more like "just hand someone a saw and tell them to cut as they please". Symmetry, balance, and tree preservation is NOT a part of their service - just high priced hacking. I know that the owner of Davey said he thought the tree was trimmed properly, but the person who takes care of the Upper Arlington section told me that they were surprised when they cut the large branch how much of the tree "opened up" and that they did not realize how much of the tree was connected to that main branch. He agreed that they did not do a light trim and shape, as was written for in the estimate. I also still have the original dead branch present in the tree that I called them for. November 15th, 2011 This never ends. When the person from Davey returned my call in September regarding my issues with this tree, he was truly appologetic. He agreed that the trim was not what he and I had agreed on. At that time he said I would not be charged for the job, and even offered to come and fertilize the tree, which I declined. Then the owner of Davey, who I had never spoken to regarding what I wanted added the response listed below. Since he stated HE thought it was a good job (but not what I had asked for and agreed to) he is now sending me an invoice for the full amount of the "trim". I called the office and left a phone message regarding this - and again was called by the original person who came to the house. He told me that since the owner thought it was a good job (again - NOT what I asked for) I was going to be billed for the trim. This tree is nothing like what I asked for. It can never be replaced, I have been told by the person who represented Davey Tree for my area that this was not what I asked for and I would not be billed. Now I have the owner stating he likes the job, so pay up. I want this bill, and Davey Tree to go away.

They really did a great job. They were no non sense, they did not tear up the yard. They took away all the wood too.

Highest bid of all...would not negotiate on price. Look elsewhere...there are better prices out there.
