It went good overall. He got it done on time and in the price range. He was very clean about it and cleaned up after himself well. There were no surprises.

It started out really well. He did a decent job and his framing was good, but his drywall his lacked and you can see the joint markings and the taping of the drywall. He didn't mud it enough is what I think, so that he wouldn't have to sand. I did the design and all he had to do was the job. He gave me the impression that this was what he did. The framing was great, he's good at that. It looks good, but I wouldn't have him do it again. I would hire him again, if he maintained his professionalism; swearing, talking fresh.
Description of Work: He did the framing and the drywall of the basement. He did a couple of built in shelves and lighting (electrical).

INTERESTING, WE DID THIS JOB NOV OF LAST YEAR AND ITS NOW THE END OF JULY, AND I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT THIS. I DID GET A CALL IN DEC. ABOUT HIS EXHAUST FAN, I RETURNED HIS CALL AND I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM. HAD I HEARD FROM HIM ON THIS, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. I OFFER A SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS OUR BIGGEST GOAL. THEY MADE A FEW CHANGES DURING THE JOB, AND WE DID THEM AT NO CHARGE. AS FAR AS WE KNEW, THEY WERE HAPPY WITH THE JOB. HE EVEN BOUGHT US COFFEE AND DONUTS IN THE MORNING. I THINK IF A CONTRACTOR WAS SWEARING AND TALKING "FRESH", I WOULDN'T BUY HIM DONUTS AND GIVE HIM A KEY TO MY HOUSE. WE BENT OVER BACKWARDS ON THIS JOB. HE HAD A BUDGET, AND WE STAYED IN THE BUDGET. AS WITH EVERY CUSTOMER, WE DO A WALK THROUGH ON THE ASPECTS OF THE FINAL PROJECT, MAKE SURE THEY ARE HAPPY AND THEN WE GET THE FINAL CHECK. AGAIN, I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THEY WERE HAPPY WITH THE JOB.

I just can't speak well enough of Steve, Jeff, and John. From start to finish (which only took 3 weeks) they were there, nearly daily, with a great attitude and their full attention to quality of work and customer satisfaction. I made a couple of changes in what I wanted and Steve (without any attitude!) readily complied. And neat...let me tell you I am a neat freak! They cleaned up everyday, even swept and hauled away the debris daily! I hardly knew they were there working. And best of all, I was so comfortable with their trustworthiness without hesitation or worry, I went to work knowing they weren't going to rip me off and it was safe to leave them alone in my home. If you want quality, reliability, very reasonable pricing, integrity and customer service with a smile, it just doesn't get any better than this.
Description of Work: Finished basement approx. 400 square feet, including a full bath (already plumbed, but fixtures not included in the pricing). I wanted a media room and had only a basic idea for what I was looking for. Steve was able to make intelligent suggestions which helped me get the most of my space. Steve and his one to two member crew framed, sheet rocked, all electrical, plumbing, seated bathroom fixtures, placed laminate flooring in bathroom, media wiring, placed a finished ceiling and a dropped ceiling, installed canned and tract lighting, completed all mudding, and all the painting. The mudding took numerous applications and sandings, until it finally met their standards! I couldn't have been happier!!

I left a Monday morning and it's Tuesday afternoon and he has not called me back. I doubt he'll call me back if he hasn't by now. If you're busy just call and say you're too busy; don't just not call, that is rude and not a good way to do business.

After playing phone tag a couple times, I was told he would not come out to our area that is only 11 miles away from him. From Plain City to Lake Choctaw. He was honest about it and I appreciated his honesty. I was very disappointed being so close and was told he goes to Hillard and Dublin. I was looking forward to working with a local company. He stated he was going to fix his distance limit on Angie's List.
Description of Work: I called for him to come to our home and give an estimate for a bathroom remodel that included repairing the ceiling from water damage.

All of the work was done in less than 2 weeks!!! He did a great job and the price was less than we were quoted from other companies! His price was not inflated with added "sales representative" charges, (it's only him and a few other guys) and permit charges, etc.
Description of Work: He tore out my old paneling and carpet in part of my basement and finished that half and another half. He did all the electrical work (added recessed lights) and made sure my cable and phone hook-ups were installed for my PC and TV. He also added 2 closets (one in front of my sump pump and the other in front of my gas meter) and added a battery back-up for the sump pump.

We are very pleased with Steve's work. Steve was very easy to work with and checked with us during each step of the project to make sure we were on the same page. He offered suggestions when asked but did not go over board with design ideas and extras. It was nice working with someone very straight forward. We were able to describe exactly what we wanted and he took care of it. Steve and his crew were nice and always cleaned up at the end of the day. We are very pleased with the quality of work. The price was very reasonable compared to other quotes we received. Would definitely work with Steve again.
Description of Work: Steve finished our approximately 885 square foot basement. He framed and finished walls including 5 closets. He installed heating ducts, wiring, cable, lights and hung doors. He primed the walls for us but we opted to finish the trim and paint on our own.

The kitchen had to be handicap assessable. He made sure I was not being victimized by anyone. Not only did he do his work but he also advised me on the products to use and he even made sure the vendor that sold me the cabinets did not rip me off. He went above and beyond in every aspect. He took such good care of my kitchen and made sure other service providers did a high quality job as well. What looks impossible becomes possible in his hands.

Steve and Jeff do excellent work. The quality of work is outstanding. Their craftsmanship and innovative ideas made our basement project exceptional. Instead of a standard rectangle room, I have a room with unique angles, great lighting and a space customized to the needs of my family. And it's well built - everything is solid and built to last. I highly recommend Steve Miller. We'll enjoy this new room for years - and it absolutely adds value to the home.
Description of Work: Steve Miller did an amazing job transforming my home's unfinished, concrete basement into a beautiful living area that is easily the best and nicest space in the whole house. He hung drywall down the staircase, created a roomy family room that left plenty of storage space and easy access to the furnace, water heater, crawl space, sump pump and electrical board. With lots of lights on the ceiling and a few lights up the steps, the room is light and bright. It's beautiful - we love it!
Steve was very professional and had a lot of great suggestions for our basement. He took his time in examining our basement and pointing out things that needed to be fixed (our house is old). His price was the second highest of the six contractors we contacted, so we ended up going with someone else.
Description of Work: Estimate for labor and materials to build 20' x 20' playroom and remodel laundry room in basement. Price was for the following: framing, insulating, and drywalling walls and ceiling; 9 can lights, new outlets, 3 new six-panel doors, trim & molding, electrical work, relocating water lines and drain for washer, relocating electrical for washer and dryer, installing utility sink, install customer-supplied cabinets.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO SAY, OTHER THAN IT IS AN OLD HOME IN CLINTONVILLE THAT NEEDED SOME ISSUES ADDRESSED, WHICH WERE INCLUDED IN OUR BID. THERE WAS SOME JUNCTION BOXES AND TAPED UP WIRING THAT NEEDED TO BE RELOCATED AND OR REPAIRED. THESE NEEDED ADDRESSED FOR CODE REASONS. YOU CAN'T JUST HANG DRYWALL OVER JUNCTION BOXES OR TAPED UP WIRES AND HOPE THEY GO AWAY. WE DO QUALITY WORK, SO IF YOU WANT SHORT CUTS OR COVER UPS, WE ARE NOT THE COMPANY FOR YOU. THERE IS AN OLD SAYING, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, AND I THINK THAT IS TRUE IN ANY TRANSACTION TODAY. I GET A LOT OF CUSTOMERS THAT SAY WE WERE LOWER IN PRICE THAN OTHER QUOTES AND THAT IS BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE OVERHEAD, WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING AND GET IN AND GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT.
The project was a huge success. After the 1st two companies wanted almost $30,000 for the job, I was close to trying to do the job myself. Steve came for a walk through and gave suggestions on how to make the most with the space. While the other 2 companies were telling me how it would be a quick and easy job, Steve told me that he would do the job right. I hired him as soon as he sent the quote. The job took less than 3 weeks. Him and his crew were extremely nice and always came on time. They treated my family with respect and were able to work around our hectic schedules. I even felt comfortable enough to have them work, while my wife and I were out of the house. Steve would stay late every couple of days to go over details and make sure we were on the same page. The final job was incredible. I wish the rest of my house had such straight and smooth walls as my basement does now. Every last detail was done with quality. He will be my first call on my next project.
Description of Work: Steve and his crew finished our 450 sq. ft. basement. They started out by waterproofing the walls and hanging plastic. They framed the new family room with metal studs. They installed outlets, switches, cable, and recessed lighting. They hung doors for closets. They finished with drywall and trim and a dropped ceiling in part of the room. Steve even replaced my sump pump and added a back up pump when it died on the last day of the job.

All work was done in accordance with a written estimate. Very pleased with the results of the project and the workmanship used to complete it. When we changed our mind about some cabinet features, Steve was able to help us adjust the impact on the overall plans.
Description of Work: The project was to rehab a kitchen that suffered a couple decades of neglect. Steve tore out old kitchen cabinets, sink and electrical circuits. He installed and painted new drywall then assembled and installed prefab cabinets, sink and electrical outlets. He worked with appliance and counter top vendors to assure completion.
You can believe all the hype, Steve Miller is absolutely outstanding! He created a great basement for us with a family room and an office for a fraction of the price of the other companies we had come out. He was punctual, polite, and left the construction area virtually spotless every day. It hardly even looked like he had been there. His helpers were likewise a joy to work with. He originally told us it would take 3 weeks to finish the job, in the end it took 4, but that was mainly due to us asking him to do additional work (installing the floor, making a closet under the stairs, carpeting the stairs, and making a landing at the bottom of the stairs). He was always upfront with us about extra costs (which were extremely reasonable) and he never cut any corners. An incredible experience with a great, hardworking guy. We will definitely have him do a lot more work for us; in fact, we've already called him back to fix the drywall that we dented moving a desk downstairs.
Description of Work: Steve finished our basement (approx. 400 sq. ft.). He put a half wall at the stairway, built a storage closet underneath it, and created a family room and office. In addition, he also installed our pergo flooring (for an excellent price), carpeted the stairs, and painted everything.

Steve returned our telephone call promptly and came over the following evening to provide an estimate. Steve scheduled the repairs a week later and showed up on time. What impressed us about Steve was not only the quality of workmanship, but how he prepped the area to limit the dusk and dirt. The repairs took two days. Day one, he prepped and placed the first coat and let it dry. Day 2, he placed the second coat. After the repairs were completed he cleaned and removed all dust and dust.
Description of Work: Resurfaced the kitchen ceiling and repaired the bathroom ceiling, which required a fan designed in the plaster.

Steve is a miracle man. If you are shopping around for an expert to remodel your basement look no further because Steve does it the right way. He is honest and trustworthy and goes the extra mile to make sure every aspect of the finished work meets a level of quality you rarely see from an independent contractor.
Description of Work: Steve remodeled our 800sq ft basement. The project consisted of removing the outdated basement (gutting it down to scratch) then Steve took over from there. Steve framed the walls, hung/taped/sanded drywall on the walls, ceilings, painted (finished side as well as a utility side) and did all the electrical.
Steve and associate came as scheduled. They worked efficiently. Very careful to clean up their mess daily and always used cloth to protect upstairs flooring. They began project on a Thursday and finished on a Thursday 2 weeks later. In that two weeks, they completed everything stated above and primed walls and primed and painted ceiling. We couldn't be happier with the job. He even wired us for sound as a last minute addition to the job. Thanks for the great work Steve!
Description of Work: Basement was framed/drywalled. Recessed lighting, extra outlets added. Closets added around circuit box and sump pumps and water line. 6-panel doors and tri fold doors hung. Closed in stair steps for carpeting.
His bid was less than others. He was timely in submitting the bid and in doing the work. He communicated well with us. We are pleased with the final project results.
Description of Work: Mr. Miller and his associates refinished half of our basement. This included applying waterproof sealer, demolition of interior dividing walls, framing, drywall installation, electrical wiring, and installation of cabinetry. They also painted.

Excellent. Steve was very trustworthy and full of good recommendations. Even though there were a few unexpected delays due to personal reasons, he was able to complete the job in three weeks. After carpet installed, he came back and was willing to trim the doors to better open and close with the new carpet. His detail on the window work was amazing! It's been seen by many neighbors who have had similar work done and they believe his timelines and finished product are the best they've seen!
Description of Work: Full basement refinishing including dry wall, painting, woodwork, full bathroom, and three storage closets. Associated electrical and plumbing work all included.
Please see my full rpt on previous write-up. This rpt is to add the "after" photos of the work completed. Previous rpt: I contacted several professionals for estimates. Steve was the best price & seemed to understand my vision for the job. Steve was very professional, down-to-earth, & patient as I tried to explain everything I wanted done. He also added good advice for tricky areas of which I was concerned. His work ethic is extremely strong as are his employees. Steve & his team were on time daily, worked professionally, & were extremely clean. They even rolled out mats on our entry hallway floor during rainy days for cleanliness. I couldn't be happier with the final job. The workmanship & attention to detail were very high. I requested a "custom" paint job for 2 walls in our basement which are a poured/formed brick. They were able to paint the walls to closely match that of an actual brick wall. I will be attaching "before" & "after" photos for customer review. I HIGHLY recommend.
Description of Work: Needed full remodel of basement. Please see full report on previous write-up. This report is to add the "after" photos of the work completed. Previous rpt comments: Full BASEMENT remodel. Approx 500 square feet. Included full entertainment area, storage area, built-in closets, & laundry room. Original basement was only finished in 1/2 the usable space. Wanted to remodel all usable space in basement, including laundry room. Also included custom paint of brick (poured foundation walls), installation of hardwood laminate flooring, drywall, lighting, plumbing rework for laundry room, doors, closet doors, cabinets in laundry room, stairwell, carpet, trim... the full works.

We found him through Angie's list. His quote was very reasonable compared to others. Looking at various other responses on Angie's list and also because of his punctuality on arriving at the right time for the quote, we choose him to do the job. He along with one other individual finished the work in 2 days. Arrived at the time promised, cleaned up the work area before they left. Very Good Quality workmanship. We strongly suggest him for similar work and would continue to do so. We are so pleased that we are considering him for a basement full bathroom addition.

What I like about Steve is his knowledge and experience. He answered a lot of my questions and assisted me with several alternative solutions. When working on the bathroom, he found out that the size of the shower was too big and the pipe was leaking. He only charges me a couple of hundred dollars more to re-position the location of the old shower and change the old pipe. Steve is very detail in writing down the job description in his contract. Make sure you read it carefully. I did not realize that installing a vanity light was not in the contract. My bathroom was ended up with only 1 exhaust fan light. He mentioned it to me, but I guess I wasn't paying attention.
Description of Work: Add a new bathroom in my basement.
Steve came out to the house and thoughtfully looked over everything, to see if the idea that I had for a first floor laundry, was feasible. He had many suggestions on things. This helped me feel confident about what we were doing, as home remodeling is outside my comfort zone. I felt like, I could trust Steve to steer me the right direction, when I wasn't sure about things. Once I chose the washer and dryer at Home Deport, Steve stopped there to measure them to plan for the space. I trusted Steve to come to my house and do his work as he needed, while I was at work. He is very trustworthy. The result was fantastic. Steve pays very close attention to detail and takes pride in his work. He does things the right way. Overall, I am very pleased and I am trying to get Steve to do more work for me.
Description of Work: Steve transformed a hall closet, near my garage door into a first floor laundry. This included moving the plumbing, electrical and dryer vent. He also had a good bit of drywall to, as well as hanging a door, moving an electrical outlet and putting in a light with a switch.
