Extremely well. Mr. Miller performed all his work in a very timely manner and was extremely professional. We enjoyed his company, too. We have recommended him to our neighbors.

Before we met Steve, we were a bit concerned about having 'strangers' in our house, doing work during the day, especially since we weren't going to be in the house all the time. From the first meeting, it was clear that Steve was very professional, allaying all our concerns. He and his team showed up PROMPTLY every day, thus allowing us to keep to our schedules. Each evening, as they left, they swept the basement, put away all their tools, and left the room neat. The one time they needed a subcontractor, to put in the egress, Steve supervised the work, calling them back a second time to make them complete the window well to his standards, before he was willing to pay them. It was clear that Steve has high standards and his work shows it. At each step along the way, the city came to inspect, and we passed each inspection with flying colors. Steve framed the basement, added a bathroom, added an egress, did all the wiring and all the plumbing, the drywalling, painting, etc. He did (or contracted out) all the work except the carpeting. He told us up front we'd be better off financially to get that work done ourselves. The final result of Steve's work is nothing short of outstanding. We would highly recommend Steve to our friends.
Description of Work: We recently moved back to Ohio and our new home had an unfinished basement. After calling around and getting a couple of estimates, we found Steve on Angie's List. We set up a time for Steve to come look at our space. He listened to what we wanted: a finished basement, with a bathroom, and with an egress. He drew up plans, discussed options, and gave us a fair price. We could not have been more thrilled. We love our basement and the work that Steve did.

I've used him several times and I would highly recommend him. He has done a lot of plumbing work around my house. His prices are very reasonable. When he came, he needed to get the parts so he actually drove to the hardware store and it was all included in the price. He has replaced faucets around the house and he rebuilt my bathtub drain. He has changed out showerheads and a lot of things. I will definitely continue to use him.

Steve came and we told him approximately what we wanted done. He did give us some of his ideas and an estimate. He didn't want to do certain aspects of the job and told us how to go about getting some things on our own. Then we put the project on a back burner and haven't pursued it so far. We did feel we could trust him to do good work andthe price seemed OK. We still may retain him if we go forward with the job.

He is an excellent guy. The price was pretty reasonable and it was probably cheaper than most people or most of the other estimates. We were under the gun and we had to get it done. He came in and did the job within a few days and it was a beautiful job and he didn't charge me all that much as compared to other people. He called everyday and we talk with them and we really didn't have any problems. I just let him do some of my basement and he took care of everything.

He kind of threw me for a loop when he asked me if I wanted permits or not. So I thought that was a little strange so I just wasn't comfortable with that. It seemed like if you cut corners on permits, where else are you going to cut corners? I was uncertain.

If you look at our other reports, we obviously do not cut corners. There was a mention that one way to save money was if they wanted to pull the permits as the homeowner as opposed to us. If they went that route and contracted the basement out, they could save several thousands of dollars. She sounded like she was sure what a permit was and mentioned they did their last house without a permit, so I went over the different options.

They were friendly, easy going, and trust worthy. I appreciated that Steve was sure to fully understand exactly what are wishes were...door on this side or that? Frame the wall to what height along the stairs? etc and did not make assumptions. We've asked Steve to quote on another small job and would certainly recommend him to others.
Description of Work: We asked Steve to frame, drywall, run electrical, hang lights, trim and doors in our basement. It was a short time frame and a tight budget, but he worked with us to make it happen meeting the needs of both.

Steve was very prompt when he came out to do my initial estimate. He walked through the project with me, offering ideas and suggestions to make the would-be finished basement look even better. He took many photos of the unfinished basement to get an idea of what it would take to transform this into livable space. He definitely knew what he was doing. The estimate came back at a fair price. Steve was booking up quickly, so my wife and I decided rather quickly that we wanted him to do our finished basement. Now I see why he is so in demand! The total project took 3 weeks to complete (again from start to finish) and he actually made my basement look BETTER than my upstairs !! Steve didn't take any shortcuts during the project. He used materials that were to code, and the basement has a very modern look. I think two of the biggest changes that I would recommend to anyone.. We had Steve install 13 can lights with LED's.. Unbelievable!!! Another thing Steve like to do is "open up" the staircase so that as you go down there is a 45 degree cut in the walls so it makes the masement look even BIGGER! Again, VERY satisfied with his work. Another bonus was that Steve was able to be easily reached whenenver I needed him (via either email, text messaging, and voice calls).. I think this is really important when the project progresses and you want to make any last minute decisions/changes.. Steve was also very clean during the entire project (no messes were left, drop cloths used in the upstairs). Steve used high quality Sherwin Williams paint to paint my walls (and he did a very professional job with that as well).. I would highly recommend Steve Miller to anyone looking for a quality basement at a reasonable price!
Description of Work: Steve Miller came out and transformed half of my unfinished basement into 450 square feet of livable space. I honestly must say that this is my first experience using Angie's List and I couldn't be more pleased !! I reviewed about a dozen other local basement re-modelers and NONE of them compared with the quality and affordability that Steve Miller had. Steve and his crew put up metal (as opposed to wood) studs, applied insulation, hung dry wall, and even finished my ceiling so that it had the same knock-down appearance as my upstairs. Steve even painted the walls (and did a VERY nice job I might add).

This "room" was bare, down to the cement blocks on the walls and concrete floors, with exposed wires and pipes. Steve enclosed the space and made it into a wonderful workout room. Steve was professional from the start, responding quickly by phone, and then coming out as soon as possible. Steve and his partner, (who did painting), were thoughtful and considerate. I was comfortable leaving them in my home to work when I needed to be away. It was a pleasure to do business with someone as trustworthy and skilled as Steve. I highly recommend him!
Description of Work: Steve did a remodeling job in my basement, turning a spare, unfinished area into an exercise room. He put up drywall and drop ceiling, did re-wiring (adding electrical outlets), and painted the entire room.
Everything went very well. I would highly suggest that you plan out ahead of time exactly where you want all electric switches, outlets, cable & speaker wire, heating & cold air vents, lighting & paint colors. We did not have everything thought out exactly and since metal studs were used for framing non-essential parts of the walls, some had to be replaced after the fact with wood studs when we added outlets & switches. Also to keep things moving along smoothly, make sure you understand the timeline thoroughly so you can have cabinets, counter tops, sinks, hardware, paint, appliances, flat screen tv's & brackets, and carpeting ordered early enough ahead of time so Steve isn't waiting on them. We were fortunate enough to have everything there in time for him when he was ready for it so he wasn't delayed. We are so very happy with the finished basement. Thanks for everything Steve & Jeff!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Steve & Jeff were fantastic to work with. They were very friendly, quality minded and the work area was kept very clean. They did everything themselves except for putting in a new electric pannel and drywall. The electrician and drywaller they used were very good too. We are thinking of putting in a bathroom later and would deffinitely use them for it as well. This price did not include carpet, cabinets or sink which we ordered separately.

Our basement was more like a musty dungeon- no natural light (windows), no air circulation, a useless propane heater in the wall, a noisy sump pump, and not a safe area for our two boys (3 yrs and 18 mo) to play. After being in the house almost 5 years (10 year old ranch), it was time to do something and I turned to Angie's List to find someone I could trust for our first venture into home renovation. Simply stated, I could not be more thrilled with the quality of work, professionalism, and helpfulness of Steve Miller through this project. My husband is out of the state/country often on business and I was left to figure out our first renovation mostly by myself (with two lil ones in tow always). Steve met with me more than once to get an accurate view of what we wanted to do and when the first estimate (our wish list of renovations) was a bit much on our budget, he worked with us to cut it down to something we would be happy with- both in design and cost. In the end we got about 3/4 of the basement level completed (1/4 unfinished storage area), this is approprimately 850 square feet. Steve provided experienced guidance every time I needed assistance in making a choice about something- whether that be lighting, tile, counters, cabinetry, or faucets. Steve even noticed while working on the utility area that our water softner was not hooked up correctly to give us the most benefit in treating our ground water. He fixed that as well, which has made living with ground water 100% more tolerable. You name it, he was helpful. He was organized and our home was always left neat. I could call or text him after I got home from work or on the weekends. If he hit any glitches, he called or texted me to make sure I was aware of the issue. I was never caught off guard and felt secure in his leadership of the project. He made our first renovation process easy. We now have a finished basement with windows (one egress w/ladder) with 1/2 bath and wetbar that we cannot wait to enjoy. It is fabulous! We need only to get our carpet installed and we will be in basement heaven. I cannot say enough positive things about Steve (and Jeff, who works with Steve). They are wonderful to work with and you would do yourself a great favor to give Steve the opportunity to do your renovation.
Description of Work: Renovate unfinished basement to include adding windows, installing a half bath and wetbar, drywall, enclosing utility and sump pump area, painting and tiling.
Project went well, very reliable and trustworthy. Steve and his assistant were very trustworthy and worked hard to get our basement completed. Eventually I was comfortable with them having full access to our house. Communication went well and Steve kept us up to date with everything going on. Steve had to push out our closet into the garage to make room for the half bath. Finished product is amazing! From both the garage and the inside of the house, you cannot tell this bathroom was created post construction of the house. The finished basement also is fantastic! Very detailed and high quality of work. Ceilings and walls are perfect. The basement was finished so that it matches the rest of the house. When in our basement, you would never guess it was a basement. The only thing I will add is that you should be well into picking out your fixtures ahead of time. When it came time for installation, we were scrambling trying to find what we wanted in time for Steve to use. There is no time for special order and most items had to be instock for Steve to get. If you are picky about exactly what you want, plan accordingly. Steve was very respectful towards our house and cleaned at the end of each day. We never had to come home to a messy house. Would definitely use him again for any new remodeling. Professional quality and very reasonably priced. We received quotes for twice that of Steve's.
Description of Work: Completed finished basement of approx. 1000 sq. feet. Includes a new full bathroom and bedroom.Completed conversion of closet to another half bath on our main floor.
The project went well and was completed in a timely manner.
Description of Work: Steve came out to the house and we discussed what I wanted to do in the basement. Finish the larger side of the basement, clean and paint the walls and floor of the other side. The estimate was reasonable. The work was completed in a timely manner and basement looks great. Excellent communication throughout the project.

With two year old twin boys and another set of twins on the way, we were anxious to get 1/2 of our basement finished to be used as a playroom. We received estimates from 3 contractors, and Steve ended up being our final choice. He did an excellent job from start to finish and is one of the best contractors we've worked with. We have an old home in Upper Arlington built in 1917, so we've worked with our fair share of contractors! Steve and his helper did the majority of the work. We gave Steve a key to our home. The only thing they didn't do themselves was the drywall. This was important to us as our nanny and twin boys were home while all this was going on. We weren't thrilled with the idea of lots of unfamiliar people coming and going all day long. Steve started the work about 2 weeks after we chose him, and the whole process took about 3 weeks. They had to relocate some overhead ductwork and pipes to give us a higher ceiling, as well as install drywall, lights, doors, molding, and shelving. They were remarkably clean and conscientious and cleaned up at the end of every day. There were a few delays, but that was due to choices we had made in doors and hardware (totally out of anyone's control). Steve adjusted his schedule for this. He did a great job at keeping us updated on their progress. Steve handled everything except the carpet. Our playroom is exactly what we wanted and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! We would absolutely recommend him to anyone!

Steve and his assistant Jeff were terrific to work with. I trusted them completely and left them with a key to come and go as they pleased since I had to work. I also left town for a week in the middle of their project and didn't worry about being gone. They are great craftsmen and the quality of their work is top notch. Steve and Jeff did most of the work so I didn't have a bunch of different subs with different employees working in my home which was comforting. They put cloth runners down on the main level hardwood floors where they came in and out to access the basement which was nice. They also cleaned up the work area every day so there wasn't trash and debris laying around in the basement while they were working. I had a few modifications I wanted to make along the way and Steve was very accomodating to my changes. Steve was also good about calling me if he had questions on things or wanting to double check the placement of doors, bath fixtures, etc. He also checked in with me after about a week to check if everything was still to my satisfaction. Great work, great service, and great follow up. I would highly recommend Steve to finish your basement.
Description of Work: Steve finished our basement space and turned it into a really great additional living space. Everyone that has visited has commented on how nice it looks...nothing like a basement. It included a media area, billiard area, general rec room area, plus a full bath.

We decided to have our basement finished as a multipurpose/family room. After receiving quotes from four different contractors, we selected Steve Miller at the beginning of November . We were impressed with Steve's straightforward attitude, experience, Angie's List reviews and commitment to complete the project before the Christmas. His quote was competitive with the others and within our budget. Steve started work the following week. He did most of the work himself with one other guy. He brought in a specialist that he uses regularly to handle the drywall. We gave Steve access to our home. He arrived each morning around 9:00am. He kept the workspace very clean and took care to protect our upstairs floors, etc. with drop cloths. Unless he had any questions, he called once a day to provide an update and let us know if we needed to select any fixtures, colors, etc. Steve handled all of the work except for carpet. He completed the project around December 19th. The finished product is exactly what we wanted and all details of the work are above our expectations.

We feel that Steve and his crew demonstrated consistent and focused work ethic toward a timely completion of the project and we are very pleased with the finished product. There were no surprises, delays or problems. We would recommend this contractor to others.
Description of Work: Basement Addition To Condo Steve Miller, as well as his drywall and painting partners, Kevin, Kenny and Jeff, finished our condo basement in three weeks. The project involved approximately 410 square feet, consisting of a media room, den, and a partially finished laundry room. After finding Steve on Anglie's list, we contacted him to discuss the particulars of the basement, including framing issues, access to water shut-off valves, clean-out drains, vents, plumbing, placement of lights, outlets, switches, and the orientation of doors. Steve then emailed an estimate to us based on a diagram given to him regarding the work we wanted done. One of our goals was to match the trim work of the rest of the condo, which he was able to accomplish. Steve indicated to us that he charged about $17 per square foot, not including flooring. In our case, we were able to get a price match for carpet found at Lowe's, but purchased the same carpet at Rite Rug, because they could install it within a few days, not a few weeks. Like many contractors, a day's work averaged about six (6) on-site work hours per day. In our case, we felt comfortable to leave Steve and/or his subcontractors a house key for access. Their work was steady and the site was left clean each day. All demo and extra materials were taken from the site during and after the job was completed. All correspondence with Steve was answered right away, both by phone and by email.
Steve did an excellent job on the carpentry and framing work. He had added a new bathroom for us previously, and the two rooms are the only square and plumb rooms in our old house. The cabinet install looks great. He did an exceptional job of working around how crooked our house is, to make the final product level, but still line up well with old floors and walls. The best part about working with Steve is how flexible he is. We were in constant communication about how to handle the problems in an old house, or how to make sure the finished product exactly matched our preferences. He is very up front and fair. We spent the whole project fighting supplier delays with the cabinet parts (which were out of both of our control), and he just worked his schedule around it without any drama. He kept the work site spotlessly clean, and didn't spill anything over in the rest of the house. With the amount of dust generated by the demolition work I consider this quite a feat. Overall, I have hired Steve for two separate jobs, and been completely satisfied with his performance in both of them. He is highly recommended.
Description of Work: Steve helped us with a remodel of an old wet bar in our basement. He did the following for us: Ripped out old cabinets and plaster walls. Insulated wall cavity. Ran new electric outlets and light boxes. Moved HVAC ductwork into cabinet bases. Replaced plumbing supply and drain Installed new framing in walls to make them plumb. Installed and mudded new drywall. Installed new cabinets. Installed new ceiling grid.

We wanted to finish part of our basement. Our basement is split into a garage and basement space and there were some additional challenges to creating a room in that space (low-hanging vents for air-conditioning). Mr. Miller helped us think through our options, gave a very competitive quote, and his whole team was very professional. The project took about two-weeks, and Mr. Miller's whole team were prompt and courteous when in the house (our kids were home with a babysitter during the day and I'm sure at times this got in the way but everyone was very polite and accommodating). They left the room clean. We're impressed with the good, usable and attractive space they were able to create with limited square footage and with some obstacles. The finished paint job was excellent, despite having an unusual shaped ceiling to paint. Overall, I think the value to work was excellent. We had a good experience and would hire Mr. Miller again.
Description of Work: Basement finishing including: dry wall wiring and installing electrical outlets wiring and installing lights installing a door priming and painting installation of walls
