The quality of Steve's work is excellent. We hired Steve based on pictures we had seen of his work and positive reviews on Angie's List. We also liked his ideas and responsiveness. He and his crew were great throughout the process. We are very happy with the high quality work he did and the entire experience working with him.
Description of Work: Finished approximately 700 sq ft basement.
There were estimates presented. There really isn't a story because the other decision maker would not approve of the proposal.
Description of Work: The company provided quotes and suggestions regarding mold and water in a basement. They offered very good suggestions which I utilized to determine and identify the extend of the water damage. I used these for my proposal .I was very please with their proposal, however, I did not utilize all of their services.

I had plans made up to finish 1000 sq. ft. of our 1300 sq. ft. basement. I had 4 contractors bid and give me their suggestions as well. Steve had a lot of good suggestions and his price was by far the lowest. We did not choose him just because of his price, but his attitude was that he would just get it done, no messing around. No trying to sell me extras, like a couple of others did. He's a straight shooter, what we were looking for. We made a couple small changes to the plans per his suggestions and ours. In the end he did all the framing, insulation, electrical, lighting, some HVAC work, contracted out the drywall and mudding/sanding. He also hung the doors and installed and painted the trim and baseboards. After I installed the bathroom tiles he came back and hooked up the bath appliances to ensure no leaks. We finished it up w/ painting the walls and carpeting the floors. All in all we are very happy w/ Steve's work. I would highly recommend Steve Miller to anybody looking for an honest, clean job.

They are honest and fair. They select materials that will look good and stand the test of time. They like to look at their past jobs and the work they have done and we have been pleased with them.
Description of Work: They did some tile work on several areas in the house. They tiled the kitchen floor. They set the bathroom to be a steam room so they did the bathroom floor to ceiling in ceramic tile. We had a carpenter frame the area that was to be done and it was not square so the carpenter had to do it over until the box was square before the tile work could be done. They look at the aesthetics of the room before they start their work. They are meticulous and they do great prep work ahead of time. We have had them out recently to do an estimate for redoing another complete bathroom remodel They are working up a proposed drawing and they have creative ideas with the layout of the room. They have lots of design ideas and suggestions with materials etc.
Steve and his crew did a great work in our basement! The work area is always cleaned out before he leaves so you couldn't tell that it's actually a work in progress.
Description of Work: Reroute plumbing, put new electrical outlets, frame basement, paint drywall, install trims and doors.
The project went very smoothly. Steve is very good about communicating his plans including arrival times and potential delays. He and his crew arrived on time. They worked very efficiently and cleaned up every day. He subcontracted the installation and finishing of the drywall. His subcontractor also performed very well. I am very pleased with the quality of the work. He exceeded my expectations
Description of Work: He constructed walls and installed lighting fixtures, outlets and folding doors in one-half of my basement. He also installed a utility sink and electric outlets in the other one-half of my basement.
We had a fairly small area and needed to make good use of it so we needed some creative solutions. We got that in Steve Miller. Steve and his crew are excellent to work with from start to finish. We could tell from the minute he walked through the door to do the estimate that he was who we wanted to work with and after we saw pictures of his work we knew for sure. He is very confident in his abilities and it shows in his work. He is detail oriented and makes sure that the job is done right. Including in our case painting a few coats of blue paint on one wall and installing an outlet and some other lighting in the nonfinished part as well as a sump pump. He communicates each day during the job face to face, via phone, or email. My girlfriend and I felt we were very much in the loop on what was going on throughout. We trusted him with a key to our house and he left it every day just as he found it. The work was fantastic and everyone that has seen it has been wowed by the way he took around 400 square feet and did so much with it! Steve had so many good ideas about how to do things and you can tell he really prides himself in the job. His crew is also very polite and we enjoyed chatting with them throughout the job and they dealt well with all the hustle and bustle around the house of 4 kids and 2 dogs and didn't let it phase them a bit! I would not hesitate to hire Steve again and i wish we had the money to have him remodel the entire house because the basement is everyone's favorite place now! Thanks for turning our basement into a fantastic place to live! We are very glad we made the right choice for our job! I will be attaching some pictures if I can figure out how to do it.
Description of Work: Finished half of a full basement in my house. Added a full bathroom including corner shower, vanity, and toilet, and a big finished room with recessed lighting, and a closet. Rerouted plumbing broke concrete floor for drain, framed, drywall, painted, ceramic tile, baseboards, doors, and finished.
I agreed to his proposal and Steve was able to quickly schedule the project. He completed the work promptly and as scheduled. He communicated well and discussed the progress as the work was completed. Based on his work performance, I will hire him again. I am in the process of completing the project myself. Painting is done, light fixtures are installed, doors are installed. I'm now working on staining and installing the trim.
Description of Work: I had decided to finish approximately 600 square feet of our unfinished basement, creating a new Family room, an office, and 2 closets. I wanted to do some of the work myself, but knew that I'd rather hire someone to do certain tasks. I framed the walls and then contacted Steve to quote for Electrical, Cable/Phone, HVAC, Insulation, and Drywall. I planned to complete the remainder of the project myself, then hire someone to supply/install the carpet.

Steve was easily our cheapest bid. Our house is old enough that projects tend to be a little scary, and many of the contractors I spoke to either did not want the job, or priced it unreasonably high. He was booked out about a month when we got our quote, but he kept us up to date on the time remaining on his jobs and when he would be able to get started on ours. At all times he was communicative, giving me a call or an email almost every evening through the process to work through exactly how we wanted things and to keep us up to date. I have some background in construction, and I was completely satisfied with the quality of his work. Our old house has shifted so much and is nowhere close to square, so Steve's work almost looks out of place by being perfectly square, plumb, and level. He kept the work site clean, did not spread any of the mess from the construction into the rest of the house, and removed all trash when he was finished. He was very accommodating with the changes (and occasionally mistakes) we made to our design. He did a good job of explaining our options and giving us a recommendation of how he would do it, but leaving us the final control. He was 100% honest and up front about all charges, changes, requirements, and even when he could and could not be at the job site. He has completely completely trustworthy. We have other work in the house that I may not get around to doing myself, and I fully intend to bring Steve back out if I don't.
Description of Work: Steve added a new bathroom to our 150-year-old farmhouse. He handled all demolition, framing, electric, drywall, plumbing, sound insulation, and trim. We used a different contractor for flooring and counter-tops, and did the painting ourselves. Two walls had to be knocked out and four new ones built. He leveled the floor, reworked the main drain connections in our basement to allow for the new lines, and ran everything through and around our old house to find a way to connect it all up. Price listed was Steve's labor and supplies and does not include bathroom fixtures, which we purchased ourselves.
Everything went very smoothly. Steve was the consummate professional. He was punctual to all meetings from conception to finish. Steve stayed within the budget and delivered a beautiful and functional final product ahead of schedule. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone.
Description of Work: Steve Miller and crew renovated a therapeutic massage room within the skin care salon where I worked to create more freedom of movement and improve the overall aesthetics of the space. He removed all the old cabinetry and base molding. New cabinetry, countertop, laminate flooring, and baseboards were installed and the entire room was repainted.
When we called Steve we knew we wanted a finished basement to include a bath, bedroom, and family room but really had no good idea of how to design and lay it out. On the very first visit Steve offered helpful suggestions and things for us to think about. He's extremely knowledgable of design features and the little extras that make a remodel more than just studs and walls. For example, the stairs leading to the finished basement weren't well lit and overhead can lighting wasn't an option so he suggested theater lights at the steps to help illuminate them. The quality of the work done on the entire project from drywall, to painting, to the tile work, is excellent - Steve really takes a lot of pride in his work. We have already received many compliments on how the space turned out. Steve was also extremely professional and communicated very well with us. We either spoke to him or he emailed us daily with progress reports as well as anything he might need from us. His open communication was extremely appreciated particularly given the investment we were making. Steve was also very flexible with the slight changes and add ons we made during the process. Even with the add ons we made, our final price came within $800 of the original quote. With the project spanning over a 4 week period, we had to give Steve access to our home while we weren't there. This worked out quite well and would not hesitate to open our home to him again. Overall, we are very happy with our remodel and would hire Steve again if the opportunity presented itself.
Description of Work: Steve designed and completely refinished our basement including a full bath, bedroom, and family room with heating, air, plumbing, electrical, staining hardwood doors and trim, and tiling.

We felt confident enough in him that we gave him a temporary pass code through our garage. He called my wife's cell phone to let us know he was done with the job and was leaving. Other than the new outlet, there was absolutely NO evidence that he had been there. Not one speck of sawdust or dirt. Immaculate job! While I realize putting an extra outlet in a newer building is not like re-wiring an old house, but I couldn't have done it...and we thought the price was reasonable.
Description of Work: We have a 3 year old condo and when we constructed, we failed to put in an extra electrical outlet on our porch. Steve came in...looked at the job...gave us a quote and a week later he came and did the work.

Steve tested all outlets on the circuit and all tested fine. Finally, it was determined there was a short in the line. This portion was bypassed and the circuit was divided in two with less outlets on each circuit. This was a time consuming task over a couple of days, but I feel that the charge was more than fair.

Turns out the insulation was too thick that I put on the 2 unfinished sides of the garage. He was able to work around this issue, as this caused installation headache as it took a lot of effort to hold on to the drywall while screwing it to the studs. Other than that he was on time and finished the work as communicated. The drywall does look clean. Prices was reasonable.

I can't say enough good things about Steve. We had a contract but made many changes. I would simply tag something like (need an outlet here) or make these studs wooden, and he did them with no concerns. I emailed him daily with questions, comments and changes and he responded each day with prompt details and opinions. He began the basement with a few ideas and made them all work into an extremely useable space (we watch movies, play games, poker, and etc.) down there and love it. We trusted Steve enough to provide him with a key to our house. I don't normally do this but from the first time that you meet Steve, it is clear that he is trustworthy. I feel as though if I had a problem right now, Steve would come and fix it because he is that kind of guy.
Description of Work: Steve finished my basement including the items below: >Drywall finished and painted >Baseboards installed/painted >Half wall going down the stairs to the basement. >Wet bar with mini-frig >Bath with shower, toliet, and vanity. The bath has a lighted switched exhaust fan, light over the vanity with switch, and outlet. >Home theater (I did the wiring but Steve mounted all my speakers) >Can lighting with 2 zone control dimming. >Theater stairwell lighting (switched) >Extra stairwell lighting >Furnace room >Extra (total 3) downstairs HVAC outlets In order to maximize space Steve moved my water heater under my stairwell. This allowed us the space for the wetbar. Steve was great about putting extra outlets for us and he used a sub panel for all the electrical downstairs. Steve wired my Theater wall one a separate circuit.

Steve presented himself in a very professional manner and we really liked his suggestions on how we should finish our basement. His son and another gentleman named Jeff were his helpers and they worked diligently to get the job done. We had a general idea of what we wanted and Steve gave us some great ideas on how he could make things happen and accommodate some of our desires. I love our double closet for storage with French doors. I highly recommend these types of doors instead of bi-fold or louver doors. Steve also installed 3 other 6 panelled doors. By enclosing under the steps it gives us a good amount of storage room and it looks really nice. The dry wall work was completed by another team of workers and Steve took care of all of that. Very little dust, we were surprised! While the dry-wallers were doing their thing, Jeff was able to take time to stain our deck for us too. I highly recommend Jeff Freshcorn if you ever need any interior painting as well! He does a very thorough and clean job. Since we knew these guys had the proper tools we asked if they had time to install some kitchen cabinet knobs & handles that we had purchased the month before. They took care of us there in the kitchen as well when they had some free time and Jeff did a beautiful job of it. We had a bar size sink, 4' counter top and cabinet built in. Steve ran the plumbing and it all looks beautiful. We installed a mini frig. on the other side of the cabinet and put in a new microwave. Steve even offered to go by Lowes and pick everything up for us which really helped. We also asked Steve to install some extra light fixtures and drill a hole in the wall for our dehumidifier so it could still drain down into the sump pump. He was so accommodating to everything we wanted after the fact. Sometimes you don't realize things until after everything gets started. Also, he prewired for our surround sound and even mounted the speakers up on the wall for us. We communicated mostly by email and he was always prompt to reply. We found this way to be very easy to deal with him. I can't say too much more about how great things went. They had full access to coming and going through our garage with the keypad. We felt very comfortable in working this way.
Description of Work: We finished approx. a little more than half of our full sz basement (approx. 650 sf). Ext. walls were sealed, framed w/ 25 ga. metal studs, and insulated. Open steps were filled in (enclosed) for carpeting and walls & ceiling were dry-walled. Installed 10 - 6" can lights - two with dimmer switches, re-installed existing lighting in other areas of the basement. Ran lights, refrigerator and microwave on new breakers. Installed 2 cable lines, 1 phone line, multiple outlets throughout and pre-wired and installed speakers for surround sound system. We had 3 6-panelled doors installed along with 2 sets of French doors for closet. Primed and painted walls and ceiling and installed molding trim. Installed sink, counter and cabinet. Ran plumming for sink. As a couple side jobs, stained our back deck and installed cabinet hardware for us.

Honestly, it couldn't have gone better. I created a fairly detailed drawing up front, met with Steve, and walked him through it. He made some great suggestions, and then he pretty much took it from there and executed the whole thing perfectly. When he had questions, we normally communicated through email, and it worked out great. I also liked that they only take on one project at a time -- they were completely focused on my job, and they got it done very quickly. I felt like Steve and the team were completely trustworthy, everyone seemed really nice, and the price was very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend Steve. I'm saving a bunch of "before" and "after" photos with this review, but I don't think the "after" photos do their work justice -- the quality of the work was really top-notch.
Description of Work: In the portion of the basement that Steve Miller and his team finished, they: put in glass block windows, watersealed the basement walls, relocated the on/off value for an outside water valve to the unfinished portion of the basement, framed everything out, drywalled, put canned lights in the ceiling, installed a back up sump pump, installed several outlets, installed air vents, ran cable TV wire, put in a small closet around the sump pump, put in a door to the HVAC, put in a door to the unfinished portion of the basement, put in a closet with a conventional door, put in a closet with an accordian door, put in molding/trim that matched the rest of my house, and primed/painted the whole thing. Steve even helped me pick out the paint color, and he also gave me a good referral to get carpet installed ("The Carpet Ladies" -- I recommend them too). In the unfinished portion (which is a workshop), Steve and the team installed multiple electric outlets, installed several flourescent lights, framed out a section and installed pegboard, and framed out another section so I can install shelves. The square footage of the area they finished was probably around 400 sq. ft.

Sent Steve an e-mail on the 3rd of the month requesting an estimate. After a few days with no response, I made a phone call. His message system stated he was on vacation until the 17th of the month. I called on the 17th and left a message. He returned my call on the 18th and Steve said to set up an appointment to discuss the project, he'd need to check his calendar which was at home. He asked if it was OK if he called me that evening after he got home. I told him that would be fine with me. Ten days later, I've never heard from him. I decided he was way too much trouble to obtain an estimate from so I dropped him from my list of consideration.

After several quotes, I found Steve through Angie's List and am glad I did. Steve came out and gave a quote and walked us through the process within a couple days of my call. He had some great ideas and really customized the basement and the job to our specifications. The whole process from start to finish was absolutely flawless. Steve kept in constant communication with us the entire time and was open to changes on the fly. For us this was key, because as you start seeing the project come together there are always things to be tweaked and Steve was more than willing to make sure we were happy with the end product. Steve even did some 'extra things" for us including wiring a surround sound system and adding an extra outlet near the ceiling for a TV. Overall the basement has EXCEEDED our expectations and we are very happy with Steve and his work. Thank you Steve.

The project went well. Steve is a man of few words. He provided me a written estimate of the work. Once we agreed upon price, the project was completed in a week. Steve arrived when he said he would, was always courteous with me and my mother, and cleaned up the work site at the end of the day. He gave me excellent advice about replacement of the vanity cabinets and suggested the best place to find the items. The radiant flooring was to cure for 30 days prior to turning on the thermostat. More than 30 days passed when I attempted to use the thermostat, and the floor was not heating. Steve came over promptly, discovered the problem (breaker box issue) and resolved it. Two mishaps: first, the out of the box vanities did not fit with the wall plumbing; we discussed the options, and decided to cut down the base of the vanities, allowing the existing plumbing to fit. The second mishap: Steve reported that the Toto toilet base shattered when he (his assistant) attempted to fit the tank on the toilet. Steve drove to the specialty shop and obtained a replacement base. Totos are not cheap toilets. Steve did recycle/reinstall the baseboards (at my request) and did haul away the other debris.
Description of Work: Partial update of 2 small bathrooms. Removal of ceramic tiles in one bath, new ceramic tile in both baths, install radiant heat in floor of one bath-removal & replace 2 toilets, removal and replace vanities/sinks, faucets in 2 baths, install base molding, and install ceiling light fixtures (x2). I had purchased the toilets, tiles, vanities, sinks, faucets, light fixtures, wood trim, radiant heating pads/thermostat, and Steve installed them. I completed the painting.
