After the wind storm several months ago, I thought that our chimney might have been damaged and wanted it looked at. Additionally, neither my husband nor I have ever lived in a home with a functional firplace, so we wanted to have it converted to gas log, which we were more familiar and comfortable in using. Steve came over only a few days after I called him to clean and check out the fureplace and chimney. He was respectful in removing his shoes and laying down carpet protectors. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and provided insight and suggestion as to what type of gas log system I should look for. There was no damage to the chimney. Cost for cleaning and inspection = $180.00 After I purchased the log set, I then wanted to book him to convert the fireplace. I did have a little trouble getting him via phone but later learned that he was out of town. He came over to install the new set and was nearly complete when he found that 2 of the logs had broken in the shipping process. He only required half of the payment at that time, pending my resolution in replacing the logs with Home Depot. He just came back to finish the job with the newly-replaced logs and took the time to teach me how to use it, making me do it a few times to ensure I knew what I was doing. Cost for conversion to gas log = $130.00 The experience was very positive and I highly recommend Soots Me. He is friendly and respectful and fairly-priced.

Reached promptly on Steve's cellphone. Friendly. Able to schedule service call in few days. Arrive on time. Very friendly and professional. Appeared to know his stuff. Steve and assistant promptly inspected and cleaned chimney. Spread drop cloths to contain mess. I expressed concerns about the inside of the house smelling smokey during some fires and he gave me some suggestions on the possible causes and solutions. Also gave me some guidance on how to make some simple masonry repairs in order to save some money. This is notable since he was essentially taking money out of his own pocket in order to help me.

Never called me back, so used another service.

Great! Very nice guy. He got right to work and saved the talking until afterward. He kept the area clean with a dropcloth, though the work he did was not dirty.

I left two messages with the company after viewing their previous positive work history on Angie's List. I never received a return call.

They are very professional. They were on time. The crew was very knowledgeable. I have used them for various things over the last ten years. I would recommend them.

Our furnace had been vented through our chimney which ruined the chimney liner. Steve Guthrie took care of the venting issue a couple years ago, but we waited to have the chimney liner replaced because of the expense. Steve did an excellent job the first time so we went straight to him to replace the liner. Besides doing excellent work, he is honest and very dependable. I should mention that given the dirty nature of chimney cleaning and repair, Steve leaves your home and outside chimney area spotless.

Once he finally responded and set an appointment, he was punctual.

The feedback on Angie's List is good, but I never heard anything from them. Maybe they are on vacation?

Steve was on time for the appointment. He inspected the chimney, firebox, damper and flue. He noted that the handle on the damper was missing and made a recommendation for repair, but stated that it was more for convenience sake and not necessarily a safety issue as we are able to open and close the damper without the handle. He even cleared away two bees nests that were on the chimney. He did the work in a clean and timely manner and was done in an hour. The actual charge for service came in under the estimate. Thanks Steve! We will definately use his service again.

I called and left a message a week ago to get an estimate on having our chimneys capped. If this was reasonable and the work went well I would have had more work. But I did not receive a call back.

They were good workers and they were cheaper then other company's we checked on. They were very reliable, very neat and cleaned up when they finished. They didn't charge extra to move the wood burning stove.

I was upset he missed appointment time and did not call or even look at his calendar. So I decided to go to someone else.

I have had them out a couple of times over the past couple of years. They do an excellent job, everything is clean. They take great care of my house, so they don't carry the mess out of my chimney into my house. They do a great job.

Steve visited our house and came up with his estimate. The work was scheduled and because of a weather delay was postponed two days. The work was performed by Steve's associate. He cleaned one of our chimneys and made repairs as needed. He was very professional and polite and took the time to explain what he was doing. At the end of the job he needed to paint a part of the chimney and provided us with a choice of colors. Overall we were very pleased with work and will use them again if we have further needs.

I was very satisfied. Steve took a thorough inspection in the fireplace to look for any signs that were troubling. He found none. He then went on top of the roof and cleaned the chimney. He suggested I paint the metal chase cover. I would do that if I wasn't so afraid of heights. I'll try later this summer. It was well worth the money, it gave me peace of mind to start a fire. I also reached out to Steve later in the year to inquire about some rattling sounds emanating from the chimney, whenever it was windy (sounded like someone was taking a hammer to some sheet metal). He was very receptive to listening to my issue and providing some quick fixes. He said if none worked, he would be more than happy to come out. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Excellent. I contacted Steve to get an estimate, which came in SUBSTANTIALLY lower than another vendor. I then spoke to both Steve and the other vendor about what would account for the discrepancy. Steve gave me what I felt was an honest and complete response, as well as the name and website of the supplier he uses. After checking that out I felt very comfortable asking him to do the work. Despite a problem with the replacement cap (which was sent back to correct), the repair work itself went well. I have no chimney leaks and no downdraft.

He never showed up to give an estimate on the day he promised, therefore no project scheduled.

Steve had given me an estimate almost 2 yrs ago. I called on him again and he was happy to come out to revisit/revise the previous estimate. I gave him half down and scheduled the work. He came out with a partner to install the main furnace liner. The partner left and Steve rebuilt the crown on the fireplace chimney and performed some minor tuckpointing. He came back about 3 days later to install the fireplace chimney cap. I paid him the balance for completion of his services. He was professional and courteous. He really does a thorough job. Some contractors do the bare minimum by cutting corners... having a "good enough" mentality. Steve does a solid job. I am very pleased with the result.
