It was a great experience. Mr. Guthrie explained exactly the work he would do and did it in a timely manner for a very reasonable price.

Steve is very communicative and honest about what should and shouldn't be done. He's good at educating without making you feel stupid. I definitely recommend his service. Thank you sir!

Steve was great! He fit me into his schedule the next day. He was courteous and called as he was running a bit late. He showed me how the damper worked and was able to close it with a few taps of a hammer. Very professional and knowledgeable about chimneys.

Steve Guthrie is a really nice guy. He was so easy to work with. He did a very professional job on our fireplace liner and on the brickwork. I will use his chimney services in the future.

It initially took a few days for him to return call my call but when he did, he was very kind and was able to come out next day. He was punctual and very friendly, inspected the chimney, cleaned it, showed me pictures, and since I've never owned a house with a chimney before, was very patient in answering all my questions and showed me the best way to build a fire. Price was reasonable and will definitely call again.

We ended up moving, but will definitely use Steve at our new house (which does have a wood burning fireplace!) Steve was professional, thorough and really knew his stuff (exact dimensions fireplace would have to be to have sufficient draw, etc.)

We used Whempy's to clean our chimney each year. This year they said we had 4 cracked tiles an needed a new flue liner. Called Soots me for a second opinion and price estimate. Soots Me was very professional, quoted a fair price, and complete the job as they promised. I now recommend Soots Me to friends and family.

Steve was actually early for this appointment, and was waiting at my home when I got home from work. Very professional -- laid down drop cloths from front door to fireplace. He repositioned the damper which had fallen from the flue, and showed me how to open and close it. Inspected gas fireplace and determined that it did not need cleaning or servicing at this time, being different from a wood-burning fireplace which would accumulate soot. He was professional, friendly, informative and honest. All I paid was $49 for a service visit. I will definitely call Steve next year to determine whether a cleaning or service is needed.

We had used Soots Me for chimney work many years ago and when we bought a new house this summer that required chimney work, my first thought was to contact Soots Me again. It took a day or two to hear back from Steve but once we did, an appointment was set to see what needed to be done, an estimate was received soon after and we scheduled the work. The work required was to take more than one day and we did have a weather delay put us back a couple of days. Steve made sure the chimney was well covered during the delay to prevent rain from leaking into the house. I asked Steve if we should expect the main chimney to need sweeping in a year and after asking about our burning habits (frequently), he explained that given the particulars of our chimney (we have a very large fireplace/flue) he didn't think we would need to do it. He said to call him to come take a look and if it didn't need to be done, he'd tells us to call him in another year. We will not hesitate to contact Soots Me again for any chimney work we need.

We ended up using larger company due to needing chimney rebuilt. However, would definitely use this company for any future chimney needs.

He came out within a day or two of calling him. He was able to provide us with suggestions and insight into the problem. We followed his suggestions, but we may have him come back out. The inspection was free.

Chris was great to work with. He was professional and competent. He encountered some remnants of previous work on the chimney that provided a challenge and he worked through those very smoothly. The chimney looks great and is structurally sound.

Called twice, left messages making sure to repeat my phone number and name. No response.

They are my favorite company. I don't remember how much I spent on their services. It was probably less than a $100. I've used them over the years. I've used them almost every year for the last ten years. I will absolutely continue to use their services again in the future.

It took longer than we would have expected to get an estimate, but once we did, their estimate was lower than several others we had received. Maybe this is because they were trying to find brick to match our chimney before they estimated the job, I don't know for sure. However, Chris, the young man who rebuilt our chimney and poured the new cap, was very artistic, detailed, thorough, and very perfectionistic about his work. You can tell that he takes great pride in what he does. Chris was very concerned that the bricks didn't exactly match our older bricks on the bottom (since he only rebuilt the top 15 or so courses) but we think the bricks match just fine. There is a very subtle difference which most people would never even notice. Chris even went to the extreme to suggest lightly spray painting a few bricks here and there to darken a few of them to match random darker bricks further down, but we decided this was not at all necessary. Chris actually redesigned our chimney with an extra step-out, and it looks very nice; we have had several neighbors stop by to comment on how nice it looks. Chris also tuckpointed some other bricks on our house for no extra charge (other estimates we received had added an extra, not insignificant charge). Chris cleaned up and stacked all the extra bricks for us. I was exceedingly impressed with how he did the entire rebuild from start to finish. After the chimney and tuckpointing was completed, Steve, the owner, came to sweep the chimney. He did a great job.

I've been an Angie's List user for many years.... I DO READ .. all the reports and comments submitted by others about a company/service. In reading the reviews for Soots Me --- I was impressed and pleased by the reports of previous customers. I was concerned about who would do the work because this job involved safety and cleanliness (inside and out). Ever read something and think "too good to be true" ? I have..... but not in this case. I called to discuss what I wanted done (a MAJOR concern was I did not want to have the fireplace doors removed). Steve came out ... said the work could be done with the doors intact; gave me an estimate; came back the next week (at a time convenient for me) to do the work. Three hours later -- the work was complete. He was very conscientious about my carpet and fireplace hearth. I had NOTHING to clean up when he left. The price was very fair. I would use and recommend this company again.

They always do a super job and cleanup is spotless. I've used them for the past 6-7 years.

I found this company on this site and hoped that it was a good company based on the reviews from the people he did work for. Unfortunately for him I cannot leave a positive review since he obviously does not want the work.

I just love these guys and I trust them. They arrive on time. They are clean and do quality work. Very nice and friendly people that I plan to hire again and again.
