Steve returned my call quickly and promptly came out here to take care of the problem. I used Soots Me in the past and Steve did an excellent job then. He once again did a great job this time. He is reliable; prompt; reasonable and fair in his charge; and he performs excellent, competent, work. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone. In fact, I wish everyone I dealt with demonstrated the same professionalism, workmanship, and honesty as Steve does.

Given that I never received an estimate, it went terribly. I don't have time to chase down contractors that apparently don't want to do the work.

Friendly, professional, courteous; kept us up-to-date on progress and let us know when weather stalled the work. Hard to judge quality of work b/c we can't see it (repair work up high) but they were thorough in describing the problems and what they had to do to fix them. Would definitely recommend and use again when needed.

I called, he came on the agreed date, gave the chimney an inspection, reported to me that all was in order and no fire hazards were present. When asked, he offered us a suggestion on a smoke/ventilation issue. He asked us follow-up questions about an issue we'd had a year ago.

We use our fireplace a lot and have never had it cleaned. We have lived in our house for 9 years. When Steve came to the house he told us we had a creosote problem. We had been told this before and there special equipment needed when this is the case. Other companies had told us it would be much more expensive to have our chimney cleaned for this reason. The work was completed quickly and efficiently with no mess left. When we asked how often we should have our chimney cleaned, the owner offered to visit our house free of charge after the winter to see how much build up we had, and then let us know whether we should have it cleaned yearly or every other year. That was a pleasant surprise!

They came on time and did a great job. All was cleaned up and we were very happy with their work. We will definitely use them again in the future.

Steve was able to come on very short notice, and on Christmas eve at that! I was worried about my cold room because my elderly mother was coming for Christmas. Thanks to Soots Me, I had a cheery, warming fire for her and the rest of the family.

Was supposed to stop by while we were not there and email a quote. Never got an email and called another 2 times with no return call for a total of three calls all together. Disappointed since he was so well rated on Angie's List. However after I read all the comments realized this is not unusual for this company not to respond as there have been other F's rated for him for the same reason, just not recently. Too bad. Will have to move on to a reputable company, or at least check the comments all the way around before calling.

Steve responded promptly to my call, arrived on time, and was very professional. He looked at my chimney and determined it was ok. He didn't charge for the visit which I appreciated tremendously.

Great service! I can't say enough great things about Soots Me. Steve took lots of time to inspect before giving an estimate and taught me a lot about our chimney and the reasons for the moisture problems we had. Steve and Chris (who did the pin tucking) were exceptionally friendly, courteous, informative, and thorough. The chimney looks great and I'm confident we won't see any more moisture problems! I wish all the contractors we had work on our house were this great to work with!

Steve was very thorough and professional, and left our fireplace area spotless.

Steve was great. He took care to put down blankets to walk on in our house, he helped me move furniture around to more easily access the fireplace and he kept the work site clean despite the inherently messy task. Our stove has the date of 1983 on it and it has much wear and tear. He gave me advice on how to safely clean the glass, whom to contact regarding the malfunctioning damper, how to use products that make creosote build-up less of a hassle to remove. He also advised me to get the chimney relined with more modern, energy efficient materials, because our set-up is out-of-date. I am also in need of some masonry work that can be performed when the lining material is updated. Steve is very patient and adept at articulating all aspects of the work to be done.

Steve is very thorough and professional. We thought both chimneys needed sweeping, but he said only one did. We appreciate his honesty, I'm sure other companies would have cleaned both and charged us. He is also a genuinely good person and wouldn't try to pull anything over on anyone. We have used him in the past for chimney repair, and he did an excellent job.

Nothing got done. It took a few calls to get Scott out to even check our chimney and when he promised to drop by with the estimate in a day or two I should have suspected a no-show. Perhaps he was too busy. I can forgive missing the first appointment before the holiday, but not failing to even drop off an estimate. We are going to try someone else instead.

Mr. Gutherie explained in detail the conditions of our chimney and how we can improve the efficiency of our fireplace. Also, having a Saturday appointment was very helpful.

Steve came to my home to measure the chimneys. The 3 flue cap was a special order, so he called the following day with an estimate, which I accepted. He personally picked up payment for half up front and ordered the caps. The caps were installed 5 days later, and he came by the following day to obtain the balance of the payment (no one was home when he came to install them the previous day). Everything was great. I rated the price a "B" only because I did not do any price comparisons. Other ratings for his prices have been good and I did not want to mess around with multiple estimates.

Steve Guthrie explained thoroughly what had caused the problem, and what my options were. He is a knowledgeable, articulate and honest individual who delivered exactly what he promised in a very timely manner. His quote was $300 less (and much more thorough) than one of the well known chimney service companies in town. I highly recommend this company to anyone.

Steve Guthrie was very easy to work with; he listened to my needs, we discussed options and he recommended what he thought was needed. He did a great job and cleaned up after the work was completed.

Steve was great! He was on time, explained what he was looking for, and answered all of my questions. Without reservation, I recommend him for this service.

He was unsure of the true cause of the leak, and recommended that we try tarping the chimney over the next few rains to help further pinpoint the cause of the leak. I appreciated his honesty in not being able to accurately diagnose the problem on-the-spot. He gave me an estimate to install Flex flashing, or to waterproof the chimney, or to resurface the chimney crown. I had other companies come out to look at it, and it was determined that it was a flashing problem, not a chimney problem. I ended up using a roofer since it was more of a roofing problem than a chimney problem. But I appreciated his honesty and would call him again with chimney problems.

He quoted us $1000 less than another company. Did the work himself he was clean, friendly, and timely.

Excellent. I cannot say enough good things about this business. The owner, Steve, came out to our Westerville Cape Cod and looked at the problem we had (birds were literally clogging up the chimneys and the vent). Because the house is old, he had to make some modifications to the chimney caps in his shop. He came back and installed them. They are built well; fine workmanship; and they look good too. Very professional and very reasonable price. I wish everyone I retained to do work on my house was as good as Soots Me! I highly recommend this business.

Called Soot's Me for an estimate to fix a fireplace damper that was stuck in the open position. Estimate was $49.00, normal service charge. Steve came at the scheduled time. Took off his boots before walking on the carpeted area by the fireplace. Fixed the problem and gave suggestions on how to avoid the problem in the future. Since he was able to fix the problem so quickly he reduced the bill to $39.00. Very professional and a fair price.
