I noticed that the burner was sitting uneven. I made one call and was transferred to over 11 different repair people on one call, and got nowhere. I've written a letter to Sears corporate about it and have still not heard anything back.

Bought Riding Lawn mower on March 30 and paid for extra warrenty where they would come to my house. On May 12 the Riding mower won't start and they won't let me return it becase it is just past 30 and it will take 3+ weeks for someone to come out and look at it to see what is wrong. Tried talking to several people to get something done quicker but was told there is nothing they can do. If you want a place that will take good care of you after your puchase as of right now I would not go here. #update after a long wait and 2 lawn mowers (they replaced it once and the new one broke down again) getting ahold of the store manager he did get us a new upgraded lawnmower at no cost to us.

Bought a Garage door opener at Sears Polaris. It was a Genie model 4042. Paid for installation. The scheduled day arrived and the technician was supposed to be there between 8 am and 12 pm. He arrived at 2 pm and promptly said that he only installed Craftsman openers and someone else on the team had to do Genie openers. The next day tech arrived on time 8am. During the installation the tech said that Genie openers were junk and a bad product. Tech went on to say that Liftmasters and Craftsman were the best. Craftsman being disguised Liftmasters. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not use them again and I do not recommend that anyone use them.. I contacted the Store Manager at Polaris and have yet to hear back for anyone a the store.

The sales person was very knowlegeable, more so than the competitors in Red or Blue shirts. They were able answer all questions to my satisfaction, rather than they competitors which answered many questions "I don't know I'll have to look that up". We opted for the 5 yr service plan since that includes annual service.

The purchase itself went well. The install was not as good an experience. I mainly chose Sears because they told me I could get scheduled for next-day installation. This was faster than the other company I had called, and Sears was much cheaper, too. The opener itself was $250, the install was $120, and the haul-away was $10. By price alone, this was a great deal. I made the purchase early on Friday, hoping for install Saturday but settling for Monday. The installers called on Saturday to tell me they didn't have anyone available in my area Monday, and I'd have to wait until Tuesday. No, "sorry for the inconvenience" or anything like that. Just a flat, "Tuesday is the first available--did you still want us to come out?" Not very customer-centric; no way was I going to return the opener and try to get someone else to come out--and not like I could get anyone out faster at that point. The installer was punctual on Tuesday morning and did a quick job installing the opener. But he left greasy fingerprints on the translucent white light covers on either side of the opener, and I couldn't manage to get the grease completely off with various cleaning solutions. Then, the next day when I was putting some recycling in my spiffy blue Columbus recycling bin in the garage, I found a bunch of trash (styrofoam, screws, some wiring and circuit boards from the old unit) the installer dumped in my recycling bin. Considering I paid $10 for him to haul away the old unit, I was a bit underwhelmed by the clean-up. The installer also seemed in a hurry to leave, not wanting to take any time to explain any of the features beyond, "Here's your manual." The unit has WiFi connectivity so you can open your door with your smartphone and/or check the door via the internet, but the installer just handed me that part of the unit and told me I could plug it in if I wanted. I guess the installation fee doesn't cover installing that functionality.

Called for service 08/01/12. Service scheduled for between 1-5PM 08/02/12. My son was home all day. He is not a kid he is 42. He works nights and is supposed to sleep days, but stayed up all day because the guy was supposed to come. We were told when the appointment was made that he would call 5-10 minutes before his arrival. My son stayed up all day and did not hear anyone knocking on the door, nor did anyone call between the hours of 1-5PM. Even if he had been in another room, we have 5 dogs and if anyone had knocked they would have set up a ruckus that even the neighbors could hear. I came home and found a sticky note on the screen outside. The note said the repair guy was there at 1PM and there was no answer. Kind of funny because my son went out to get the mail at 5:30PM and that note was not there. I got home at 6:30 and the note was on the door. Found a voice mail on the phone with time stamp of 11:30AM which said the repair guy was on his way. I called the service center twice today and they told me both times that they contacted him and he was still on his way. I have used Sears many times in the past and have always been satisfied, but this is the first time I have used them since they got their "off shore" call center. I have made my last call to them for anything, nor will I purchase one of their appliances because of this lousy service.
