Replaced main water shutoff valve
Description of Work: It was Sunday late afternoon when we discovered our main shutoff valve was leaking. I tried turning the valve off but the leak got worse. Because it was the main shut off for the house, I was not able to stop the leak. I don’t have the specialty tools to open the water access in the yard and shut off the main valve by the street, so we had no choice but to call a plumber. I knew the price would be high because it was a Sunday late afternoon, thinking the cost would be somewhere in the $400 range. By the time the technician arrived that evening, I was tired of dumping buckets of water in the sink. So when he quoted $850 to $950 I had no choice. After a mild heart attack and possibly a stroke, I said “go ahead and do the work, I have no choice.” He said you always have a choice, but with a slight smirk on his face. Such a jerk! The job literally took 1.5 hrs including a trip to who knows where to pick up a valve. I’m sure they will never see this review, and even if they did they wouldn’t care. But that price is absolutely criminal! Please, do not ever use this company. They should be ashamed of their pricing practices!
